It took me waaay longer than an hour lol but I ended up with a pretty good-looking mat for my sewing machine. I had been about to buy one but decided to see what would happen if I made it myself. I'm so pleased with myself. I still need to work on straightening out my stitching and cutting more accurately, but now I have gotten some experience quilting and I really enjoyed it. Thank you for this tutorial. Later this week, I'll be making a thread catcher.

Your videos are so well done, you move along quickly and choose fabric prints that are so complimentary. Love the little labels. A few years ago I bought a set and then glued them to some flower stick pins. They, of course, stay with the fabric they were meant to be with.

Very nice tutorial. Good for beginner quilters. Easy way to learn those tricky techniques. For the larger pocket on the left, suggest it be the size of a ziplock bag. Put the bag in the pocket and use it for sips and scraps. When it’s full, toss and replace.
I have made three of these, but I changed the size on two of them to fit my sewing machines. I love them so much! I also made the thread catches and pin cushions. I actually already have a sewing machine mat started, but haven’t been able to figure out binding until I watched this video. Now I can finish my project without a huge headache! I made this lovely mat this evening. Super easy to make, I’m really pleased with it.
I’ve never done binding before, (or mitred corners!) and had to improvise by sewing chunks of fabric together to make one, long piece! I love how it came out, corners too, despite a few hiccups along the way.

This was my first quilting project. I loved the easy steps. Nothing is straight and I need a lot of practice but I am very happy with it! Thank you. Now I need the thread catcher, off to quilt more!

I followed your tutorial (brand-newb) the binding was wonky, but I'm proud to have it under my machine, thank you for your videos.
Binding is honestly one of the hardest things! But you'll get better every time you do it so keep practicing :)

A lovely mat! I made a different one, but this is pretty! I keep one pocket large for throwing all kinds of small tools in, rubber, sharpener, small rulers etc!! However, I would love to make this patchwork panel with the extra little pocket. I do love your fabric choices xx
