I am making a bean bag cube for my grandson, he likes to lie on mine to watch tv. I remember watching this video ages ago and it will come in handy to make the corners look neat. I love your videos as I am teaching myself to sew and find them clear and easy to follow. It helps when I can pause them go and sew then come back. You inspire me to keep pushing myself as I can follow your instructions. Thank you.
Sewing tutorials where we can actually see you sewing while constructing the item is so much more helpful to beginners than skipping that part of it entirely. I think it must be part of the idea of seeing it in your mind or visualization of learning that gives confidence to try something new. Thank you for including that in your tutorials.
Hi Debbie I have voted for you in the awards. You are my favourite, your teaching skills are fabulous and I have purchased several of your books, which have helped me no end on my sewing journey. I sincerely hope that you win and I wish you the best of luck x
Debbie you are brilliant - you make your projects as if MOST of us could create these items. I so much enjoy watching, and learning from your views. Thank you so much
Debbie, You Are Such An Inspiration! Your step-by-step instruction was Clear & Easy to follow. I Love All your tutorials! Thank you So much! Greetings from Sunny ☀️ California
Debbie - thank you for such clear instructions on how to insert the bottom of this cube. You make it look so easy and do-able. I now realise what I've been doing wrong for so long. :) Light bulb moment, indeed! You have an exceptional instructional style - so easy to watch and listen to. Makes me want to keep watching and get sewing!
Thank you so very much for this tutorial, Debbie. I made two of them for our grandsons, and they both love them. Your videos are always delightful and so easy to follow. Happy days.
I have wanted to learn to sew since I was a very young girl, probably in large part due to my obsession with fashion as an adolescent. That was a few decades ago. A few years back I bought a machine and supplies, some beginner books, watched several amateur RUclips tutorials, and attended a few Meetup classes, but still lacked the understanding of the skill to have the confidence to do more than stitch a few straight lines on a test piece of fabric. I need to truly understand the underlying theory behind a topic before I can really dedicate myself to it. The few people I knew who were good at sewing on a machine absolutely despised the idea of teaching it to anyone. Every single one! I began to think sewing couldn’t possibly be as enjoyable and satisfying as I had always imagined. I found you and one other professional sewist ( Liesl Gibson ) on RUclips within a day of each other; you are both such superb teachers I now can’t wait to get started! I finally understand sewing as a whole and all of the subjects you and she have presented. I especially appreciate your tutorial on how to piece together long strips of bias tape. My interest in sewing these days is centered on a desire to make mostly arts and craft projects and I foresee using a lot of it. Thank you again for sharing your talent for sewing and your gift for teaching.
Debbie, you are just so absolutely adorable. Watching your videos makes me happy. Thank you for sharing your time and your special talents and skills with all of us.
was researching how to make a bag for myself, and came across your videos. I only have a basic singer machine and not a huge amount of experience, but i loved your video and now feel confident enough to make one. Thank you so much for helping me find a new found interest.
Thank's Debbie, I used your tutorial as a guide to make some 9" x 7" boxes without handles and turned the inside down the outside an inch. Then filled them with sweeties for Christmas Presents. Did a 6" x 7" inch as well. See three and a half years later and folks still watch your tutorials. I only recently started sewing and my first project was your tote bag with the outside zipped pocket and zip along the top of bag. My great-Niece soon snaffled it for herself. Many many thanks if you read this. i find you the best tutor on here x Oh still looking for the caplet jacket video, I bought the pattern and it says on the front you have a video of how to make it, but maybe it was deleted?
I love that you describe it with panels instead of 1 or 2 pieces of fabric. Seems so much less wasteful! Also I can use my leftover batting/wadding and end up with a nice open basket for storage.
Hi Debbie, you are not onky excellent at sewing but also with your instructions for each project. I admire your style and presentation and your pets too.
OMG, as soon as I started watching this tutorial, I thought about the cube storage unit that I have in my sewing room, wondering what color fabric cubes I could buy to best match the room and realizing how easily that I could make them myself, just made me so happy ! Not even 2 minutes into your instruction., I hit the like button, but wasn't planning to comment until I read some comments already made, found that others were already on the same page and had to comment also! Thank you Debbie, you are wonderful , Linda D.
I did it Debbie ! Just finished.no doubt not as neat as yours but first attempt I'm more than happy with all thanks to your brilliant instructions.i would love for my old needlework teacher to see what I am now capable of as I was always the slowest in the class in the 1960s!
Hi Debbie .....I made a cube bag for my 1 year old grandson....his mom loved it...credit to u....altough I was so chuffed with myself , it turned out lovely.....I know I mentioned this before. ..." you have a lovely way of explaining how to make things. I thought I would just share my success of making the cube bag...thank you
I used this video as a guide to make a cover for a storage box (an upside down cube). I had to add zipper for some access, but otherwise the same. I couldn't have done it without your guidance. Thank you Debbie.
You are such an amazing teacher. Because of you I have dared making projects I would of other wise never attempted, and completed them. Stumbling upon your channel was one of the best things I've ever done. Do you ever work with flannel? Every time I try nothing matches up, even after washing, drying and starching the fabric, grrrrr, I'm doing something wrong. Thank you Debbie. Blessings, Suzee
Ahhh lovely to see Bobbin in the sewing room, she is really good isn't she, bless her. Hello Debbie lol. Great vid, lovely fabric, I'm going to get the boxes bug I just know it!! Thank You
Lovely,, iv have a little grandaughter 5 months old ,, she's getting lots of toys already so the cube is perfect storage ,, as always I do enjoy watching,, I get my coffee ready then I'm there with you watching you sew,, x
I have wAtched a lot of videos on sewing these cubes and I have to tell you yours is the easiest to interpret and also the easiest to remember! Thank you so much Debbie for sharing your craft with us. Best wishes, missed Bobbin in this video 🌺💕
So beautiful ,the fabric colors , the fabric print they make a good combination.Thank you so much for your time teaching and explaining so easy. You are very talented , and thank you so much for sharing and keeping it up so easy and simple to follow. God Bless you and your family always.
Debbie, I say the same as Cheryle Alton, you are very special in the way you teach us all, this was SO easy to understand. I can't believe this tutorial came up as I have been 2 days making three of your cubes from the Half Yard Home book and really struggled with the bases. I think I messaged about this too and asked for a tutorial on cubes!!! I love this one with the handles, and look forward to my next ones with less struggle..and handles!! Thank you so much again, you are a joy to watch. Elizabeth♥
Debbie, I made another cube and couldn't believe how easy the base was, I am so chuffed!! I just followed you along and best tip was not to worry about ahead, just what was under the needle...that helped immensely as well as where to pin. Thank you again. E😊
Great idea to sew the corners outside like that. Thanks. I'll do that next time. Brilliant clear tutorial. Thank you Debbie Shore. And hope little Bobbin is keeping you busy 😆
Love your video's Debbie!! This one is my new favorite but I also really love your Roman Blind video and the hand bag with a zipper and pockets. You have such a great way of demonstrating and explaining. Friends and family are always so impressed with the things I learn from you.
This is the first video of yours that I've seen. You are such a good teacher! I appreciate that you've got very good camera angles, that you use inches in your measurements, and that you have such a wonderful, calming voice. This looks like a fun project to try and I've got lots of fabric pieces of this size that will work for this. New subscriber and thumbs UP! Hello, from Virginia, USA!
Hi Debbie your videos are amazing I made actually a cuboid bag and it turned out great it's for my daddy for when he has to go for prayers but it's my first time stitching a bag and it's my forth time stitching something but your a great teacher thanks Debbie 😘😘
Thanks so much for the tutorial. I was one of your subscribers who asked the question and you explained it beautifully! I have learned so much from your videos! Have a great day.
Oh Debbie thank you so so much for being there for be so special, for be a lady a beautiful one ,thank you for your tutorials and thank you thank you for teaching us so many good and beautiful things☺😊🤗
I have all your Half yard books as well as Sew Useful and Sew Advent Calendars and I love them so much! This is a great tutorial, so thank you so much. ❤️
You are fabulous I have learned so much from you and have made a crazy lot of bags , but I would love to do a square train case in the one who asked the question about it thank you so much debbie for your expertise....learning from you is a joy
Love the cube, just finished the sewing machine cover ( looking to make one to match for my sewing room) from your tutorial (used the bosal ) so sewing round the corners with this liner should be a breeze. Thanks again goer another great idea! The cover is awesome!
I only found you today Debbie (07/02/22) but thank you, your way of teaching is so gentle and straight forward. I'm going to try the cubes & thread catcher/pin cushion asap. If successful I'm going to make cubes for a personalised box for baby shower bits n bobs. X
I've been trying to organize my fat quarters and these cubes are perfect. Thanks for another great video. I always wrestle with the square bottoms, but this technique is easy and it works! I never miss one of your videos. Know what you mean about the dog on the foot pedal. I usually have a dog there and a cat who likes to play with my threads.
Hi debbie, your must have read my mind, I have just bought sew useful book and kept looking at the storage cube, now I have watch you I will give it a go for all my material I buy but not use because I like it too much lolx
Hi Debbie! Thanks a lot for another great tutorial! I will definitely make one; I'm making lots of baby items right now for friends who have become grandparents and that would be a lovely way to hand them in such a beautiful basket! It's gorgeous and so useful! Say hi to Bobbin and have a wonderful day! 😎🌸
Debbie, I love to watch you because you are calming and relaxing, and your work is beautiful. I watched this because I want to make a professional looking zipper pillow. But I think I may try this weaving technique as well. Thank you ❤
What a wonderful tutorial. I so enjoy your videos. You explain the process so clearly that I have no problems making the project. I have made several of your handbags with great ease. Thank you.
Debbie I just saw this video and I sure hope you got the three rewards. I would have definitely voted for you. I so, enjoy all of your tutorials. You are very skillful and you teach well. I'm just starting to sew and have made of few of your projects. thank you, keep up the good work.
thank you for showing this I think the only thing I could have used was actually to show how to turn the bag inside out I know a lot of people probably already know how to do that but it would have been helpful but thank you again and I did not realize they were so easy to make
I wonder if the lining could be folded down over outside since you stopped strap lower or would it make the straps flap over too much. I love the size, your skill & soft spoken voice that all instructors should follow. 👍👍👍 Thank You Debbie!
Thank you so much for this wonderful storage cube tutorial. I have four nieces (two in college and two soon to be) Also my sisters would love to have them. I am also going to make some to deliver my Christmas baked goods to friends near by. You are such an inspiration. Thank you
Debbie, I love watching your tutorials as they cover every little thing we need to know and you do it in an easy to understand way. Any toddler clothing tutorials? I've a granddaughter about the same age as yours so I know I would find them to be very interesting, or Unisex items perhaps....
Thank you for the tutorial Debbie, I'm turning my dining room into a craft room & have bought one of the cubed storage units from IKEA. Now I can make my own boxes instead of paying £8 for a fabric cube & it'll match. Hope that you are well take care xx
Maxine Piper This is so funny. I just did literally the exact same thing you did! I bought a lot of the Skubb teal/light blue or white (I think that is the correct name) products for some consistency in my closed shelving which we had installed and it looks wonderful. But I do want to make some of these to add in on the open shelves and take good advantage of the gorgeous quilt fabrics that I've bought. I could stare at them all day long!
Happybidr I didn't realise it was in one of the books - but I prefer a video lol. Yes I'll be hopefully using some of my stash but then saying that, it'll be an excuse to buy more lovely fabric hehe 😈 xxx
I have a ton of 13" storage cubes up around my house. I'm going to use your tutorial to make these to fit inside of them. I will use upcycled fabrics from around the house. I also am going to use stiffer interfacing. I have plenty around because I am learning to make wallets and handbags. Guess I will have to start looking for upcoming interfacing sales ;) this would be good to use old jeans for as well, you could put the pocket on the outside and use the wristbands as handles
I love this idea! Thanx for sharing will definitely be making a bunch of these both to use as storage in my craft room, make a slightly bigger one for the babies toys and maybe make some to use as part of my baby gift packs the parents can reuse the bag for whatever! 😉
I love this! I'm trying to organize my room & I have no dresser or money. I was wondering how can I organize my clothes & saw your video! Great idea! I have LOTS of fabric, sewing machine & a bit of sewing skills. So I'll be trying to make my cubes.
I love your video instructions, you do a great job ad teaching and explaining as yo go. I plan on making one this weekend for my granddaughter. Thanks!
How lovely, and I didn't even know I didn't know about sewing in the base and you tip on overlapping by the seam allowance. I had an aha moment . Thanks for sharing. 👏 👏 👏 keep em coming pretty please.
Oh cute! I may try something different, like a cardboard insert inside, just for fun and to see how that would look in my craft room.. I think your tutorial was great, thanks.
I am making a bean bag cube for my grandson, he likes to lie on mine to watch tv. I remember watching this video ages ago and it will come in handy to make the corners look neat. you explained it so well, especially (I didnt know) to leave a small gap in the lining for the turning around! Thank you, Marietta Brisbane Australia
Glad it helped!
Thank you
Thanks Amy, they're a great idea to keep students organised!
This is so pretty….I’ll try to follow your directions…
Thank you for sharing your ideas
Debbie, I love watching your tutorials as they cover every little thing we need to know and you do it in an easy to understand way. Any toddler clothing tutorials? I've a granddaughter about the same age as yours so I know I would find them to be very interesting, or Unisex items perhaps....
Difficult without a pattern but I'll put some thought into it!
Thank you for the tutorial Debbie, I'm turning my dining room into a craft room & have bought one of the cubed storage units from IKEA. Now I can make my own boxes instead of paying £8 for a fabric cube & it'll match. Hope that you are well take care xx
I did the same in my sewing room, they look se pretty on the shelves!
Ok
how could anyone dislike her videos.. i love all of them and she is taking her time and effort to teach us for free. thank u Debbie for all u do.😻😻😻
Thanks Misha!
Another great video. I will definitely be making some of these. Give a big hug to Bobbin.
She's duly hugged!
Really love the bag behind you on the body form. Beautiful
Just a fantastic video, and the bag is adorable! Well done!
Omg I so wish I lived close I'd take lessons. Just so thankful for your videos
Hi Debbie love this basket. Your tutorials are always so great
Fabulous tutorial, Debbie! I love projects that are versatile, useful, and a great for everyone. Thanks for sharing.
I love this idea! Thanx for sharing will definitely be making a bunch of these both to use as storage in my craft room, make a slightly bigger one for the babies toys and maybe make some to use as part of my baby gift packs the parents can reuse the bag for whatever! 😉
I absolutely love watching your tutorials!! Thank you for sharing x
Just found you on RUclips - love your tutorials and your sense of humor!
Thankyou Debbie, Brilliant Video I've made one of your lovely bags, I enjoyed making it that much that I made two , I love them x
I love this! I'm trying to organize my room & I have no dresser or money. I was wondering how can I organize my clothes & saw your video! Great idea! I have LOTS of fabric, sewing machine & a bit of sewing skills. So I'll be trying to make my cubes.
I know this is incredibly late, but look on Amazon and order the storage cubes. They're great! And you can make these to go inside of them.
I love it !! I'm going to make one right now !! Thank you Debra ❤❤❤
I love your video instructions, you do a great job ad teaching and explaining as yo go. I plan on making one this weekend for my granddaughter. Thanks!
You are just wonderful. Thank you for sharing your talents.
That's a great idea!
