A lot of your were asking for this tutorial in the previous video, and it just so happened it was already in the works, so I hope you enjoy and make a beautiful blouse for yourself! Happy Sewing!
Wow. this is so wonderful!! I have just lost 170 pounds and need clothes. This is so wonderful. I have a room full of fabric, honest "FULL" of quilt fabric, I can make dresses from this, too. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!
@@stormdancer0 iron it well before stitching, pin in place, use ruler to make sure they are even. If the problem is about. Doing a straight stitch line - use a chalk or heat erasable pen to mark where you should stitch.
I hate making sleeves, collars and zippers so this one fits perfect 👌 for me! I hate complications in sewing. I always look for ways to make it simple and fast. BTW, you’re a good teacher. 👍
I made one today. It’s perfectly my style! I made longer sleeves, a longer body, and no gathers. It’s perfect! I took my time making it, and still had it finished in less than 1 hour. This is truly a wardrobe builder pattern. Thanks so much!
Thanks for posting. I'm learning a lot from you. How sweet your little girl is. Also will be binge-watching so expect a lot of posts. You have helped me so much. I told my sister last night I dreamed I made to tops and 3 dresses in a dream. She said she would expect delivery in the next week. lol Maybe someday. Stay safe, stay well.
I am new to sewing but I have to say I love your videos, they are so informative and easy to follow. You have taken the scariness out of the process of drafting your own pattern and having a go at constructing a garment from start to finish - thank you
I'm so glad that these videos help you! That's my aim and goal - to make it less scary, because it is a lot of fun as soon as you get into it and realize - it is just fabric and some measurements!
I have recently gotten back to into sewing and wanted an easy top to make so I chose the floral one. It was the first time I drafted my own pattern. I am so happy with the result. Thank you so much. Watching from Melbourne, Australia.
Thank you so much for these videos. I made this top tonight, great fit and with your video easy to make. I have only started sewing for myself again recently and have only ever used commercial patterns but I have always struggled getting a good fit and have been disappointed with my results never looking like the picture. You make sewing fun again, thank you 😀
Thank you for your hem, neckline, back elastic and sleeve examples that help us that are “creativity challenged” to think of variations even we can create to a cute but simple top.😊👏🏻
Wow how beautifuly & very easy way The draft & the pattern shown . I AM IMPRESSED on your PERFECTION of drawing & sewing the top . Thank you. God Bless you.
I made it! But man, it was only easy-sh! I am a beginner and I, perhaps unwisely, chose a gauze fabric. I thought that I should avoid 'slippery' fabrics, but gauze was a little too shreddy. But I LEARNED SO MUCH and for that I am truly grateful. I wound up having to cut off the original bias-tape neckline (due to the shredding--plus I have a second hand sewing machine that sometimes doesn't make tight stitches), but then just made an interfacing neck and stitched it a bazillion times. I used a button to close the little keyhole in front and, not having elastic, let the arm holes flap, for now. Might do another button detail on the sleeves or add elastic later. I am very pleased with the outcome and feel greater confidence in my stitchery! Thank you!
Apparently I started watching this when it came out but I never finished it. Today I was googling blouses to make with Swiss dot fabric I have in my stash. After taking a couple of pictures I went to your channel to find the easy shirt tutorials you have done and lo abs behold it’s the same fabric too!!! Now I can totally know exactly how it is going to turn out. I love it! And I love all of your tutorials. Like others have said, you are a great teacher and I am so grateful I am a subscriber!
Thank you, Tracy! And since you mentioned fabric - the fabric makes all the difference, even the color of it! These tops different, but the pattern is the same!
you are an excellent teacher! I sew a but but never made my own patterns. Thank you. PS I could not find what I want when I did a search on RUclips but you came out on a Google search even if you are on You tube...
I was looking for a nice and easy blouse for spring time. Thank you for this video💜. I do prefer a regular sleeve mainly because I have more of a muscular logging arms. You do amazing work.
Thank you, ma'am! I am sure you have beautiful arms! But if you'd like you can leave the sleeve un-gathered, it will just look like a sleeve on a basic short sleeve button up, just going to have a wider angle pointing away from the arm, as this is not a sewn in sleeve. I hope this helps a bit! :)
Oh! I'm so happy with this tutorial!❤ I saw this blouse in a previous video you made and I loved it as soon as I saw it! Thank you for that tutorial 🥰☺
Thank you for all the trouble you take and the detailed explanations. I think you are a really nice person....so don't worry about the negative comments. I am sure for every harsh comment there are numerous great ones. 🍻 👏
I like this process a lot. Makes me want to try a no-shoulder-seam design with a yoke placed on the top fold, and the yoke seam joins the body at the underarm, with plain sleeves (I’m not an elastic sleeve person). Might take some geometry gymnastics to figure out how to get that sleeve to work, but I can try it and see. TY for all the sewing journeys 😊 P.S. I think it might be a tulip sleeve, always wanted to try those.
Alisa, I've been watching so many of your wonderful videos! You are such a sweet gal and so knowledgeable! You've got great taste for style, fabric, details! You explain patterns and definitions for seeing terms so amazing and easy to follow! Thanks so very much! - Janice in Michigan
These instructions worked put to a ‘T’ ! I drafted a beautiful perfect pattern that fits incredibly well and I’m plus-sized! You are an amazing teacher Alisa!
Those are so cute. When you were doing the sleeve on the white blouse I had a thought come into mind. Instead of elastic, I wonder if making the opening on outside of sleeve and feeding through matching ties like what is used for neckline and tying it. It's an old design I actually live through. (hahaha.)
Absolutely! You can do that as well :) I thought about doing it this way but my toddler likes to fiddle with things like that so my ties would be out if the casing in seconds, he he :)
@@ThoughtfulCreativity stitch the ties down at the underarm seam stitch in the ditch) won't keep kiddie from untying but can't pull them out. I feel stupid suggesting it to you. Another great video--I have been wondering how to draft a keyhole. I guess could use on the sleeve hem edge also (keyhole on the sleeve?)
@@jojosewist8921 no no, not at all - I actually haven't thought of that - stitching ties down - brilliant! Yes for the keyhole on the sleeve - it is usually uses when you attach ties to the edge of the sleeve. Currently that kind of style is popular with larger ties tied in a bow! Loved your suggestion!
I would love a version with heavier fabric or suggestions on how to modify. I work with thrifted bedsheets and curtains as fabric so that’s what I would look for
Loved the tutorial! I've been making clothes for myself this week. Grandma suddenly realized that she literally has no summer clothing. I'm stash busting and making outfits for myself. I also loved the easy things you posted like the soap bag. I've already printed out a few of those patterns for the grandchildren. I haven't seen them in almost 22 months. I'll get my second vaccine on April 23 and then as soon as school is out we'll be driving to get them for 8 glorious weeks. Speaking of family, I hope you are yours are doing well. Thank you very much for all the great videos you have done to help us! What am I missing?
Marina, hi! Sorry about the confusion. I measured from the base of the neck, placed on the pattern from the base of the neck. On the video you see me extend the line as I place the edge of the ruler on the FOLD of the pattern and measured it from there, because I wanted to get a straight line, as my paper actually does not have the gridlines, but the gridlines are on the mat underneath it. It does not change the outcome of the sleeve as the ruler is placed on the edge of the pattern, but it does not mean you measure it from the edge of the pattern. Does that make sense? The main thing - it is measured from the base of the neck and placed from the base of the neck
Great video, love the cute and easy shirts! But you can make it much easier to put the elastic through If you stick a safety pin through the end of the elastic and simply and easily push it through the open area and all around the sleeve bottom. I have several different sizes of safety pins handy.
Yep, I know, but I have misplaced my safety pin somewhere a few weeks ago.... That's why I am using a knitting needle :) it works, but you are right - not as well :)
