I love this! For me sewing with scraps or upcycling unloved garments is much easier than sewing with new fabric because if I fail it didn't cost any money and I learn so much every time. New fabric overwhelms me because I feel pressured to make something that is perfect. When I started sewing at the age of 13 I used scraps from my sister's sewing projects and old clothes and I just played with them. I recommend everyone to try that and to let their kids try that, too.
I find creating from leftover fabric is so satisfying. I love all four of today's makes. You have given me an idea for a print panel I bought and never used so thanks for that too!
LOVE your hacked t-shirts! In my humble opinion, you exceeded yourself with all three! In my mind, I'm seeing a t-shirt made in three shades of white. I'll know the colors when I get them. You inspire me & I sincerely appreciate what you do in your videos. THANK YOU, ALISA❤
I liked all of the shirts but was especially impressed by the shirt with the 3 horizontal bands; superb! (And very flattering, also)! I am going to try that one, for sure!
I love these ideas. I think your solution for the sleeve was perfect. Because it shows how you can make the smallest scraps work. Cotton Lycra is my favorite fabric. I always have loads of scraps. It is too pricey to let any of it go to waste. Thanks!
You're so right, Irene, about using even the smallest parts of the fabric and yesssssss.... good cotton lycra can be pricey, so no way I am letting any of that go :D
Ooohhh... how I love this video! You keep amazing me what a good designer you are. I'm more of a copycat of your designs... I hope you don't mind. All the projects in this video are impressive, especially the wave-so beautiful! Thank you very much for sharing.
What a fun and exciting set of ideas … I love your enthusiasm in all your videos! Once you put on the final shirt it gave me the idea that doing asymmetrical blocks would be fun too. Keep up the great work 😍
I zoo love the way you create. It inspires me so much. To me it is no rules just have fun, and that is what makes me happy. I started my sewing with cutting apart a favorite longsleved t-shirt into small pieces and then like two more and putting them back together. I love that top. even if i made some misstakes.
Oh, yes, in the same series I have a linen shirt made from fabric scraps - you might like that one for your fat quarters and then at the end of this video I left a link for 6 scrappy projects for home - good ideas for your fat quarters :)
I love the swoop tee the best, I think continuing it under the arm is very clever. The blush shows up well on the triple scrap tee. I would like it better if the bottom was black, the white is too much contrast for me, it draws my eye rather than blends. However, in the white tee with the square the pops of white in the pattern are what makes it so successful. I am very impressed and inspired by them all.
@@ThoughtfulCreativity It was not originally k-pop but they were some kind of remake of a very popular k-pop drama's music! No joke! I think the name was Heirs with Lee Min Ho. A very PG yet grown up drama series. See if you can find it.......even if it just a couple of episodes......it will lighten up your heart especially toward the end! Good ending!
Absolutely love all of your color blocking ideas and results! You inspired me to sew many color blocked shirts myself and they usually end up being the most fun projects! :) The wave one as well as the striped last one are definitely on a mental bookmark - might make something similar in the future :)
What a clever use of scraps! Such great ideas and they looked great. Thank you for the inspiration…. I will be taking a look at my bag of stretchy scraps now.
I love this idea. At first I was thinking this isn't for me until I started watching how easy it is to play with the material. This has inspired me to try using scraps that I would otherwise have never thought about. My favorite 2 are the lemon shirt and the three different colors. Thank you for pushing me out side my comfort zone. I just love your enthusiasm.
This is a very nice scrap fabric combination project! The first one you made is kind of the same as the t-shirts I combined to make a shirt. i don't like the prints so I combined them by cutting a rectangle in the yellow shirt and I cut a black rectangle, sew it in the yellow shirt and added randomly placed yellow strips on top of the black rectangle. I hand-sewn it and I still wear it often for 4 years! Upcycling is really fun!
Hello Alisa 😊 they all are super cute. My favourite is the white with the rayon in the middle block. It has endless possibilities. It reminds me again of that book “Something from Nothing”. Have a great weekend. 🥰
I love your scrap busting videos (not that there was anything wrong with the pattern drafting ones!). A wee idea to build on top of the one with a large rectangle block in the middle: make it a patch and even have it fray/roll a bit on purpose. Could be a nice, grungy vibe :) That wave t-shirt is amazing! Many would probably go for dolmen sleeve to make their life easier, but not you :)
he he :) oh yea, the patch would work if you have enough for a full front pattern piece, but in this case it works since you can use up small fabric scraps to "build out" the front pattern piece around that rectangle. I do patches/applique on my daughter's t-shirts a lot (mostly to cover stains, lol). Ah, you read my mind, I would go for a dolman sleeve for the wave one, but I did not have enough width of the black knit because I cut it out from the existing t-shirt with logos, and the t-shirt was my actual size, so I could not cut out the dolman sleeve, aggrgrgr :D
I saw the RUclips plaque and thought great, she has 50,000 subscribers. Let me see how many she has now. 260,000! Congratulations! I like the black with black stripe t-shirt the best.
Rimmy, thank you for tuning in every week, I am so happy that you get lots of ideas and inspiration from these videos, that's the best thing that I can hope for :)
Love this. I haven't sewn in a long long time. But one day I hope to get back to it. Love the last one with the pink and white the best. You are so talented. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world.
Liss, I hope you get a chance to get back to sewing, I find that hand-sewing is very relaxing and does not require pulling out a sewing machine and other tools, so it can be an "on the go" hobby. In the meantime - thank you for watching :)
So stellar and inspiring as usual!! Love the second striped top especially. Great tip about straightening the side seams. I LOVE horizontal stripes and hope to create with them a lot ☺️☺️
I've actually been thinking about just cutting out a ton of squares out of my scraps and then just patch working them together and maybe making a patch worked dress or something.
Those were awesome, favorite is asymmetrical curvy line; the right sleeve should have shown more of the stripe ,maybe about halfway up the sleeve arm, and the 3 different color patterns was also wonderful liked that very much. Asymmetrical patterns would be great, lot of potential for different contrasting patterns. Thank you very much. Enjoyed this video.rab.
This is so lovely! I don't usually buy knits so I haven't got scraps. What I do have is a ton of tshirts from the thrift shop in all sorts of colours (fill a shopping bag for $1 😊) I'll use them and see what happens. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
Hi Alisa. Great t-shirts! A friend of mind will make panties using smaller pieces of t-shirt weight knit fabric. I thought that was an amazingly creative idea for knit scraps. Really enjoying your channel!
@@ThoughtfulCreativity I'll have to look that up obviously! I love all of your videos, you spark our imagination and are such fun. You make the self drafting not scary to have a go at!
Alisa!!!! You are so smart. Just where do these wonderful ideas come from? Question... do you wake up in the middle of the night with an idea for us? Love your videos.
Yes, you can do that as well, and I do that with applique, usually with hearts, but the point of this is to use up fabric scraps, like in the case of yellow knit - I had enough for the panels, but not enough to cut full pattern pieces so arranging the panels around a rectangle works out better than what you suggested, when with talk about using up scraps.
Want to see more "scrappy happy" ? :) here is another episode of this series - ruclips.net/video/2l0r4EL5r-s/видео.html
Love them all but my favorite is the pink one with the spots.
Oh my gosh I love scrappy happy❤❤❤the last tee is my favorite 😍 you R amazing ❤
You are definitely the scrap-master. 😊 Awesomely, inspiring.
Cute tops, great use of small bits of fabric.
Wow Alisa, this is the best of all the scrap fabric videos you have done so far. Super creative. Tons of inspirations. Thank you so much.
I'm so glad!
On the palm print, how about “Stay calm” or Stay Palm”?
Omg, that's so cute!!!

Love videos about T-shirt make overs and recycling. Good job with these.
Glad you like them!
Loving the scrappy series!
Love this video! So creative and fun. Possibilities are endless!
Thanks so much! 😊
The rose one is my favourite but all of them are bautiful!

10:36 this wave t-shirt has vibes of a wrap top. Just love it ❤
Oooh, good thinking I did not even think of it that way, could create a fun double mock wrap top.
Your eye 👁️ for color is amazing every time ❤❤❤
