Loved waking up to a warm home after sleeping in a nice cool bedroom all night. Definitely makes it easier to get out of bed in the morning! 🙂
Is the only way to get this system to work is to set up a full week program? Or were you also able to figure out how to get it to blow either AC or Heat given you desired temperature?
They make it look so easy, the directions are going to fast to understand. They need to slow down. These guys live and breathe this stuff and for some one can follow along and take notes.
If you go to the video information, there's a complete transcript of what the narrator is saying on the video. Much easier to read along than to have to go through the play-pause-rewind-play routine.
Really nice looking thermostat, but incredible un-intuitive. I went a whole year without setting a schedule, but I realized it's kinda cold at night now. Figured a techie guy like me could figure out how to do a schedule, but no I had to go to youtube. Now I'm afraid to set it up because I don't wanna mess it up, and I like the ease of the up and down arrow. Simple enough.
They Make it so complicated and for those of us who just want to be able to turn the thermostat up or down to heat or cool, this is too complicated! Some of us have brain health issues & we don’t want this kind of elaborate thermostat. Insane.

Pretty thorough, thanks, for what is a way too complicated thing. btw, only issue is you state @2:53 to "hold" temporarily or permanent, but don't show how. Is it dependent upon the length of time you press the "hold" button?
Left side shouldn’t be on cool or heat, set it to off. Right side set to fan auto. If that didn’t work then something is wrong. Gotta go into the manual or call the air conditioning maintenance guy.
FIXES! I see a lot of complaints about the fan not shutting off, not having a menu setting that would activate both the furnace and the A/C, etc. Here's my experience. It may answer some of your questions. A HVAC technician installed this thermostat in my home, replacing one (a different brand) that wasn't working any more. There's an Owner's Manual, and an Installation Manual, in the box. The technician deliberately withheld the Installation Manual from us, saying that it's too complex for homeowners. I should've insisted. I'll put a link to a PDF of the Manual at the bottom of this comment. We were unhappy with the thermostat control, and with the way the furnace / A/C was acting. But a few changes to the defaults in Advanced Settings (also known as Installer Setup options ... "ISU's"... in the Installation Manual) fixed all that. Accessing those is covered on pages 6 thru 9 of the Manual. To enter the ISU Menu, do exactly what it says on Page 6. To save (rather than discard) your changes, exit the menu exactly as described. * We programmed a whole set of heating and cooling thresholds for all 4 parts of the day, and set the start times for each of the four parts of the day, in the regular Owner menu. But even though we wanted the same settings for every day of the week, we had to do it three times (once for weekdays, once for Saturday and once for Sunday) because the Installer default is 5-1-1 in ISU 120. That can be changed to 5-2 or to 7-day. * We had trouble with the fan never shutting off, in between cooling cycles. We never did make a change that I would've thought directly addressed that, but with the other changes we made (keep reading), it somehow got fixed. * The Owner's Manual said that Auto was a valid Mode, and showed it in a screenshot diagram, but it didn't show as an option on our screen. The only choices were Heat, Cool or Off. But this is fixable with ISU 300. Change it from Manual (0) to Automatic (1). Once you do that, Auto is a valid Mode. Activate Auto on the regular screen, and have a Schedule of heating and cooling thresholds entered, and you're all set. You can be away for however long, and it'll take care of itself. Cool the house during the day, and heat it at night, as necessary. * People were talking about the furnace or A/C gearing up and changing the temperature in advance of the time you'd programmed in. That's Adaptive Intelligent Recovery. If you don't want that, you turn it off with ISU 425. Change it from Yes (1) to No (0). ------ Note: DO NOT mess with ISU 205, in order to try to activate ISU 230 (or for any other reason). That's NOT how you fix the fan problem. If you have a forced air gas furnace or similar unit, the equipment (rather than the thermostat) DOES need to control the fan when you're in Heat mode. The fan needs to keep running for a while, in order to dispel the excess heat after a burn. I repeat... DO NOT change those settings. ------ * After we re-programmed ISU's 300 and 425, and of course selected Fan Auto rather than Fan On, things worked correctly. The fan ran during cooling cycles, and shut off in between cycles. I hope this helps someone. digitalassets.resideo.com/damroot/Original/10011/33-00187EFS.pdf
Does the Honeywell have a CPH adjustment or a differential adjustment. I wish it would wait for 2-3 degrees of change before kicking on again. For example, a thermostat with a +-12degree differential that is set at 70 degrees will turn an air conditioner on at 72degrees and off at 68 degrees.
The Honeywell pro series has changed since several power outages. I noticed that it runs short cycles and turns on and off about every three to four minutes. Another item I have noticed the cool on now appears . It did not do that before. Do you have an answer? Thanks
We have one of these but it is cold in here set at 76. They told us to keep the fan on . What do I do to keep warm. It runs for a long time but it's cold
After watching all these videos I concluded that if the instructor doesn't understand something, he just skips over it. Like how to program all days of the week at once etc.
Hi my thermostat came with my new house and I have no idea how to work it, despite research into manuals, troubleshooting sites and RUclips videos. My 2 major issues are #1 Only mode choices are FAN, COOL and OFF - no AUTO. I really need auto as it's fall and the temp fluctuates greatly. When I try to change the settings in MENU, it does not show PROG, only TIME, DATE, F/C and LOCK. Any suggestions? The back tells me I have a Honeywell Model: TH6220U2000 1730 which looks like the model shown in your video. Thanks!
Press "show more" below the description of this thermostat. Print the information on how to set the thermostat. I think he is too fast as well, so now I read the different steps.
I know, right? All I want is to set the fucking temperature. I don't give a flying shit about setting times and fucking dates. It's a frigging thermostat, not a fucking appointment calendar.
My thermostat wants the time and date and stuff AND as far as I can see isn't even programmable. I get why it wants this stuff with a programmable thermostats but... WTF is the purpose otherwise? I'm going to check my thermostat for the date??
I hope you figured it out by now, but for others experiencing this it could be the compressor delay safety feature on these thermostats. The feature will delay the compressor turning on for 30 sec to 5 minutes I think. The first time I turn mine on in a season "Cool On" just blinks for a while before clicking on.
Whether you like it or not will depend a lot on how tech savvy you are. Really isn't that complicated, once you get the hang of it. Excellent video, by the way.
Love the fact that mine won't allow me to set the AC lower than 68. Judge me if you want and it is rare that I set the AC below 68 but I shouldn't have a "governor" on my AC. So this brand new unit in my brand new house will be replaced with a Nest.
This thermostat suuuucckkkss ! I want the think to cool down before I get home and cool even more at night (which it does well) BUT when I leave I want it to turn off until the temperature reaches 70, then keep the temp to 70, until it’s time to cool down to my arriving time. What this stupid thing does is Warming up to 70 ! Instead of letting it warm up naturally. I’ll be switching it asap.
I love your presentation, you covered so much. But I probably won't be able to remember it all, and was wondering where can I get the actual printed manual.
Thank you! The script for this video is included in the video description. The printed Honeywell manual should have come with your thermostat, but it is also available online here - forwardthinking.honeywellhome.com/assets/tseries/resources/install/T4%20Pro%20User%20Guide%20-%2033-00188EFS.pdf
Having a tech background helps in programing the thermostat, but for the life of me I cannot find how to stop what seems to be a fresh airflow setting. even when my unit and fan are set to OFF the fan kicks on and blows air. I don't want air blowing night and day! How can I stop this feature?
@@jawaharpradeep my fan still blows even on auto and system OFF. my whole is issue is that the fan blows constantly regardless of the fan mode setting. even when i turn the system off the fan continues to blow! so frustrating!

my system changes to 68 degrees at 7:45 pm. I go through the whole programming cycle trying to reset it to 73 degrees. It shows that it is updating, but at 7:30pm it still goes to 68 degrees and I have to manually up it to 73. Why can't I get it to keep the change that I make?
This thermostat is great. Finally my grandpa can’t change it cause he can’t figure out how to bring up the prog menu. 10/10. Set weekdays and weekends + nights to specific temps. It’s a wholeass *PACKAGE*

I just moved to this new apartment and have one of this. But the heat and cold are not working at all 🙄 Turned the heat on for about 2 hours to 75° and the apartment still was at 67° Same thing happening with the cold.
I have this same model, or it looks like I do, and I don’t see the word “hold” available when I manually change things. I had a brand new AC and Heater installed along with this thermostat and the fan has turned in by itself when it was completely off and the it changed from cool to heat by itself, and its not programmed but I checked and no schedule is set or on. Is it possible it was wired wrong?
Would not recommend. Too complicated. NOt intuitive. Very frustrating. Heater installer put this in. I was happy with our old programmable thermostat. This is way too complicated and the video above does not match up with what I see after inputting the date. Do not buy!
I turned off the program, selected cool mode, and set the temp to 72. It worked fine for awhile, and now it's 75 in the house and I can't get it to cool any lower. What's the deal?
I just had the entire AC system put in yesterday and the installer told me to read the instructions on how to operate the thermostat. I thought a programmable would be great, but this thing is more difficult than 4th grade math class.
Hello, new system for us and we can’t figure it out lol Our stat keeps our a/c running continuously. No our fan is not on it’s set to auto.. temp is set to 74 and the temp is of course hot it’s like 88 feels like 89. But our in home temp gets higher than desired temp and refuses to drop to desired temp to shit the system off. Why does it do this? It feels comfortable but just won’t shut off. The in home temp (according to stat) will get almost 80 rather than drop to the set temp and shut off. When it’s cold out our heat will run 2.5 mins and shut off for 4mins and that’s it’s continuous cycle.. not sure if that’s normal either.
Likewise, this keeps my furnace running way too much. There is no temperature swing differential, which, in my old drafty house, I need. Furnace guys installed this garbage and trashed my old one. I'm getting a Lux installed. They have battery issues but I can control the temperature swing and cycling of my furnace much better. Honeywells will cause equipment to short cycle. I had the HVAC guys lower the cycles per hour to 2 and it's still coming on 3 times. Absolute trash. These say they have a +/- 1 differential but it's more like 0.2-0.5. Insane unless you live in a shrink-wrapped house.
Not sure about the worst, but it's pretty pathetic. We got a new furnace, and for some reason the installers "gave" us this one. It's bigger and uglier than the one we had before and offers nothing that our previous one didn't have. The installers blathered something about "more programmable," but it offers 4 time periods per day, just like our old one. The ability to turn off one or two time periods isn't worth the lousy interface.
I hate this thing! The "auto" feature is useless. The heat runs continuously even though it is set on auto. I've reset it several times. Sometimes cold air blows. I'm so frustrated. I'll definitely be calling the HVAC man after the holidays.
Auto seems to mean nothing to that thermostat. I was becoming VERY concerned about the heater being "on" instead of auto. It refused to stop even when I lowered the temp ( kept blasting this enormous heat.) set it to 71 * from 74* , looked 13 mins. later, showed 84* ? Pretty freaky.
I just had one of these installed yesterday. it was reading 75 degrees when in fact it was only about 65. it now reads 83 when it is in fact about ten degrees lower. I don't have a clue as to why this thing is way out of calibration. it reads about ten degrees higher than it actually is in this apt. what the hell ,is up with that? I think I was better off with the old thermostat
Hello why does it take 7 to 8 minutes for the thermostat to turn off unit after reaching set temp. Also, temp does not change, and unit will turn on after 3.25 minutes after finally turning off. Is there a parameter not set right, and batteries have been changed. please help.. the only way to keep it off for a little while is to set temp higher..
I’m trying to program my Honeywell pro series thermostat. Please, at what temperature should I set cool? I set the heat at 75, now I’m wondering what to set for the cool?
How to cancell recovery mode....I want thing to happen at the time I programmed and not have the thermostat guess what time to start .... Ie...if I set 70 for 8am I don't want it to be 70 at 8am, I want it to start at 8am.
Talks much too fast. Thank goodness I discovered I could copy and past the dialogue onto a word document to read while at the thermostat. It would be nice if there was a print button that would print this in a readable format.
Here is how I fixed my issue with the A/C not going below a certain degree or the A/c just off despite the Thermo being set for the temperature you wanted it. I removed it from the wall (just pull it off) removed the batteries until the screen was blank. I waited around 5-10 mins until it finally reset due to lack of power source. I turned it on and unlocked it (default password is 1234) once it was unlocked I did a normal set up. This turned on my A/c Unit and now running the proper degree.
update: so it worked for about 5 hrs before it went off again and wouldnt respond to the same method I did earlier. I turned off the power (circuit breakers) and turned it back on. It worked for about 30 seconds before turning off again. This told me that there are two things.... one there is a leak and the ice of the leak is cutting off air or freezing the unit, two the ducts are so dirty that air wont go through, or finally 3 the air filter is dirty and wont allow air through. Option 1 and 2 will require a tech, but try 3 by just removing the air filter and seeing if the A/c unit will turn on again. My problem was option 3.
I just want my AC to be on. It says “cool” on the left, “cool on” on the right, but is still 80F when it’s supposed to be 72- so obviously “cool” doesn’t mean anything
Marri Christmas my cat was hiding in my closet the whole weekend bc that was the coldest place. I’m not sure if the issue is with the thermostat or with the AC unit, but someone came and fixed my cooling. They said that a safety feature sometimes falsely gets triggered, turning off the AC. I would call someone to look at it!
Nicole Davis we had to have AC people come. Something about how the AC is accidentally triggered into thinking something is wrong and just shuts off. Essentially a safety feature gets triggered when something isn’t actually wrong
My thermostat is set to 74 on permanent hold but will only get down to 76 and only start when the temp hits 77. This just recently happened so I'm not sure why

@@unfaix they actually can, it's just hidden under the most user unfriendly interface ever, under the ACTUAL advanced settings. forwardthinking.honeywellhome.com/assets/tseries/resources/install/T4%20Pro%20Install%20Instructions%20-%2033-00187EFS.pdf page 6 you're looking for setting #300. basically hold the center and + button (how the fxck is anyone supposed to know that since apartments don't give you the damn manual) and then just keep pressing select until it shows 300 and 0 and press + to set the 0 to 1 and then press home to set it. and then there auto-changeover goddamn option fxcking unlocked. WTF is wrong with whoever designed this not making that a default option.
@@this_is_japes7409 Thank you! I've been looking for a manual like this!
Omfg, I just want to 2 buttons - Up to make it warmer, down to make it colder.
Why do these things need to be so complicated? 🙃
cuz its supposed to help you save money....just like every other smart device
Yassss wanna start a company together lol
why get a smart thermostat if you want a dumb one???? Go buy a basic digital thermostat.... cheap...
@@JeffAtkins jeff forgets, like an exceedingly typical oblivious aggressive insulting privileged old white man, that not everybody buys their thermostat. many people rent, rather than own, and have no choice. shocker, i know. "cheap" is all he can think of, as opposed to the infinite variety of other possibilities, such as working your ass off going to college full time, working a full-time job, and doing homework with all free hours, barely enough money to pay rent and buy groceries. don't be like jeff.
Yo, just turn off the program
Thank you! I've had this thermostat for a year and could never figure it out. Your video does go a bit fast for people who are trying to follow along but FINALLY my heat/air come on when I want them to and my house stays at a comfortable temperature day and night.
I speak perfect English, but I need an interpreter listening to this rendition of "How to do." Merciful Mother, "Guide me."
They make it look so easy, the directions are going to fast to understand. They need to slow down. These guys live and breathe this stuff and for some one can follow along and take notes.
yea ppl like me hate slow videos.
Slow down the playback speed. Look for a gear at top right on phone screen. Use .75.
I called the 1-800 last night. Even they were confused. Going to have to get a professional to come look at it.
Turn the programming and run it like snd old fashioned one
how
Thank you. That worked! It’s 11 degrees here and power went off briefly. The heat came back on but screen only showed the year. Now I know more!
Thank you for this! I needed it.
They Make it so complicated and for those of us who just want to be able to turn the thermostat up or down to heat or cool, this is too complicated! Some of us have brain health issues & we don’t want this kind of elaborate thermostat. Insane.
The PROG option first appeared in my thermostat first time I tried setting it up, locked it, unlocked it, and it no longer appears, only time date
Far too complcated

When I hit the menu button I don’t get the option to program the thermostat it goes straight to the time option...

Pretty thorough, thanks, for what is a way too complicated thing. btw, only issue is you state @2:53 to "hold" temporarily or permanent, but don't show how. Is it dependent upon the length of time you press the "hold" button?
You only need to quick press the hold button, not press and hold. Each press toggles whether or not a temporary hold or a permanent hold is selected.
How do I turn off the fan?
Left side shouldn’t be on cool or heat, set it to off.
Right side set to fan auto.
If that didn’t work then something is wrong. Gotta go into the manual or call the air conditioning maintenance guy.
Excellent video- thanks!
How do you skip over the “leave and return”? In order to do a reset, do you have to start all over?
I can’t access the weekly schedule on this thermostat!? How the hell do you program this thing? The prog option is not there after I push menu
* After we re-programmed ISU's 300 and 425, and of course selected Fan Auto rather than Fan On, things worked correctly. The fan ran during cooling cycles, and shut off in between cycles.
I hope this helps someone.

Thank you
thank you white emerald for the unlock code!
what is the unlock code and why should I know it?
Does the Honeywell have a CPH adjustment or a differential adjustment. I wish it would wait for 2-3 degrees of change before kicking on again.
For example, a thermostat with a +-12degree differential that is set at 70 degrees will turn an air conditioner on at 72degrees and off at 68 degrees.
The Honeywell pro series has changed since several power outages.
I noticed that it runs short cycles and turns on and off about every three to four minutes. Another item I have noticed the cool on now appears . It did not do that before.
Do you have an answer? Thanks
how can I erase all settings and start over,!!?
How do I turn OFF the fan!!!!!!!!??? It keeps clicking on and off in a millisecond. And it's always running.
yes my problem I think they made this with kickbacks from electric companies
Have you figured out? I have the same problem
@@hemiweligalle6568 naw they find it where you can cut it off
Do you know how I can make the fan turn off? It runs 24/7 & has since I moved in this rental. It’s awful 😞
Thanks!
You’re going to have to restore back to default settings in menu
Tgank u this realy helped me out
This is the worst thermostat ever
Press "show more" below the description of this thermostat. Print the information on how to set the thermostat. I think he is too fast as well, so now I read the different steps.
sounds like your a jerk Hotep Muh
I know, right? All I want is to set the fucking temperature. I don't give a flying shit about setting times and fucking dates. It's a frigging thermostat, not a fucking appointment calendar.
I agree. I hate it
My thermostat wants the time and date and stuff AND as far as I can see isn't even programmable. I get why it wants this stuff with a programmable thermostats but... WTF is the purpose otherwise? I'm going to check my thermostat for the date??
We bought a house and it came with this and js just so difficult to figure out. I have the pro, do I unlock it the same way as the pro4?
How can we reset this thermostat to factory setting!!?!? The fan comes on, but the Compressor won't come on!!
you press the center button and the '+' button. Then select Factory Reset
Well for some who are Not so high tech!
Love the fact that mine won't allow me to set the AC lower than 68. Judge me if you want and it is rare that I set the AC below 68 but I shouldn't have a "governor" on my AC. So this brand new unit in my brand new house will be replaced with a Nest.
We recently got one and having trouble with time delay on cooling
I cannot get to the program part when I push the center button it goes right to time and date and then it says AC
Having a tech background helps in programing the thermostat, but for the life of me I cannot find how to stop what seems to be a fresh airflow setting. even when my unit and fan are set to OFF the fan kicks on and blows air. I don't want air blowing night and day! How can I stop this feature?

Is it possible to simply turn off the AC & heating in one’s house using this device? Thanks.
my system changes to 68 degrees at 7:45 pm. I go through the whole programming cycle trying to reset it to 73 degrees. It shows that it is updating, but at 7:30pm it still goes to 68 degrees and I have to manually up it to 73. Why can't I get it to keep the change that I make?
Yep, this thermostat is very suspect!

1 = programmable, weekdays + weekend (m-f, s/s)
2 = programmable, 5 days + sat + sun
3 = programmable, 7 days

How to set the thermostat beyond 68? I tried it manually up to 80 degrees but it never goes past 68?
We had that. Look into the programming options and turn them.OFF.
I just moved to this new apartment and have one of this. But the heat and cold are not working at all 🙄
Turned the heat on for about 2 hours to 75° and the apartment still was at 67° Same thing happening with the cold.
Do not buy!

I hate it, now I have to turn it off and can't find out how, compressor not working.
How do u restart your honywell
Can someone explain is this suppose to be on Temp or Permanent hold?
I turned off the program, selected cool mode, and set the temp to 72. It worked fine for awhile, and now it's 75 in the house and I can't get it to cool any lower. What's the deal?
I just had the entire AC system put in yesterday and the installer told me to read the instructions on how to operate the thermostat. I thought a programmable would be great, but this thing is more difficult than 4th grade math class.
Hello, new system for us and we can’t figure it out lol
Our stat keeps our a/c running continuously.
Insane unless you live in a shrink-wrapped house.
put my new thermostat on heat & when it turns on it just blows cold air . what do i do ?
this is by far the worst thermostat ever. Not at all intuitive or user friendly.
The ability to turn off one or two time periods isn't worth the lousy interface.
yep
I hate this thing! The "auto" feature is useless. The heat runs continuously even though it is set on auto. I've reset it several times. Sometimes cold air blows. I'm so frustrated. I'll definitely be calling the HVAC man after the holidays.
Auto seems to mean nothing to that thermostat. I was becoming VERY concerned about the heater being "on" instead of auto. It refused to stop even when I lowered the temp ( kept blasting this enormous heat.) set it to 71 * from 74* , looked 13 mins. later, showed 84* ? Pretty freaky.
I second that!
Anyway of changing it from Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Yes, he could speak a little slower, but I got it to work. Better if there was NO background music.
How do you cut fan off...
Same here it’s crazy
Is that smart mark sterling???
My thermostat never showed the program option??? Ugggh.. I'm trying to set up the programmable settings.
Set the cool a for a few degrees above the heat, otherwise the AC and the heat will fight for supremacy. P.S. 75 seems awfully high for heat.
How to cancell recovery mode....I want thing to happen at the time I programmed and not have the thermostat guess what time to start .... Ie...if I set 70 for 8am I don't want it to be 70 at 8am, I want it to start at 8am.
How do I get heat ??
I would like to know how to cut off
Talks much too fast.
I’m having the same problem, it’s like 90 degrees in my home and just need it to be cool for my pet hamster >:(
Marri Christmas my cat was hiding in my closet the whole weekend bc that was the coldest place. I’m not sure if the issue is with the thermostat or with the AC unit, but someone came and fixed my cooling. They said that a safety feature sometimes falsely gets triggered, turning off the AC. I would call someone to look at it!
Oh wow I’m having the same problem
Nicole Davis we had to have AC people come. Something about how the AC is accidentally triggered into thinking something is wrong and just shuts off. Essentially a safety feature gets triggered when something isn’t actually wrong
Jaicey Bowers so are telling I need just call someone to fix it or it’s not that serious because it feel better outside
Fan Auto or On. which one is for setting timer?
How do I change to Celsius? Thanks
My thermostat is set to 74 on permanent hold but will only get down to 76 and only start when the temp hits 77. This just recently happened so I'm not sure why
MY TEMPERATURE WONT DROP BELOW 90 DEGREES!!! HOW CAN I GET IT TO START BLOWING COLD AIR CONTINUOUSLY FOR A FEW HOURS ??? MY HOME IS WAY TO HOT 🥵
I ended up turning on the A/C to prevent toasting.
Mine is blinking with date and select option but buttons will not work?! Any suggestions
