You get loads of Omega 3 and 6 and vitamin D from the Makarel. The Fats, Carbs, and Protein from Lentil Stew. Sugar and Vitamins from the Drinks and Jelly. And obv the Salt from Chicken Soup. Just an obvious thought that i felt i needed to share

First, really enjoyed this video and different/new direction you've opted to add to your page/content.
Second, I absolutely also love and admire Steve1989's page/content (following him for a couple years now). So I really respected that you acknowledged him and didn't want to come across like you were copying him. As you said though, MRE's change often. More important though, is that you also have your own way of doing things and personality which, at least for me, is half the reason why I watch your content is how you present all of it in your way as opposed to others who may have reviewed even the same things, hypothetically.
All in all, I rarely comment on things, but thought you should get a genuine and thorough and supportive comment on a relatively recent, but new style, of content you've provided.
Thanks for all the awesome content and keep that coming.

In Spain a main meal consists of minimum 2 dishes, primero and segundo plato, the same way as in Italy it's 1st and 2nd, first is not antipasti btw that's before the first. First in Italy is generally something filling and carby i.e. pasta, risotto or polenta. Second is meat or fish with veg, generally without carbs. Likewise in Spain but it's very common in the North to eat a pulse dish i.e. chickpeas, beans or lentils with chorizo and often pork belly & morzilla (i.e. black pudding/blood sausage), followed by a fish course. So even in the field, with this being the main meal taken in the afternoon around 2pm, I'm guessing the Spanish soldier would heat and first eat the lentils & chorizo, followed by the mackerel. I always buy mackerel in olive oil because it has twice as many calories as in water, same with tuna etc. Breakfast would be something very light like a pastry and coffee (as in Italy) and dinner in the evening would be one dish, often fish again, with vegetables. But if you are in civilian life in Spain and if you get the opportunity you'll eat 5 times a day: desayuno (breakfast), almuerzo at around 11pm (brunch), cena (dinner) at 2pm, merienda (no translation, in North England we'd call it ''tea'' but it's more substantial in Spain, something like burger & chips), and comida (supper) which is eaten late, around 10pm. On a day off people will go eating tapas before comida. People love their food in Spain.

@Eric, as a veteran who came of age in the Vietnam era, I'm no stranger to WWII & Korean War, surplus K & C rations, that were at times pretty horrid! From the reviews on RUclips, its obvious that militaries all over the globe have made huge strides in improving sustenance for their troops! I laud you and others for producing this content, as well as your willingness to - well - "soldier on." If nothing else, it'll force those in the procurement channels to stay honest and aboveboard, history wise not always givens when in the realm of a soldier's or sailor's chow, sad to say! Kudos!

Isotonic drink: dump in canteen and shake canteen. One or two per canteen (1 liter) will keep a constant flow of weak isotonic liquid flowing into body over time. Not meant for flavor. Remember, these rations are for guys who are expending 6k to 10k calories of energy plus per day. Lots of things to rehydrate because you are losing a lot of water especially in a Mediterranean climate.

I know I'm 1 year late :p, but the spoon, the fork and the knife are part of the basic equipment a soldier would carry. They are miniaturized metal versions that you would carry with your canteen. Oh, and the toothbrush is in the breakfast ration. They would also give you crackers for the day so you could have your apple cream with them.

It is distributed by regular soldiers a set, the Stainless Steel Military Army Camping Eating Utensils, I believe it is called. As for the toothbrush, there is a bag: the Spanish Army Officer Travel Kit Bag that as one inside, among other things. About the can of Mackerel in Sunflower oil, if you had taken the oil, I would have taste better. Way better. The oil is used for night lamps, if necessary, in the same cans. Depending on the tired condition of the soldier, these foods can cause diarrhea, but they are prepared so that this does not happen, because on a mission, one must avoid leaving traces for the enemy. The beberage is to be taken with room temperature water, not hot.

The next time try to avoid crumbling the fish to avoid excessive soaking.
They taste much better if you pick up the entire piece instead because in this way the food is' not totally soaked in oil.

Pretty sure the breakfast portion of these kits is pretty light, just a bunch of crackers basically, but has a bunch of accessories that are supposed to be carried forward like the crackers to go with the applesauce in the lunch pack for example and3 toothbrushes with the other packs only containing more toothpaste. Idk why but lately these spanish rations are sold individually for some reason and you cant find the full 24 hour pack pretty much anywhere. I have seen a bunch of people review spanish rations lately who're confused because they get a cardboard box with 5 packs of crackers and 3 toothbrushes and are wondering what kind of meal thats supposed to be 😅

Well that was helpful. I have never had mackeral, so it was good to learn that it's not sardine-like but tuna-like . I still don't know what chorizo is other than something meaty. I stay away from Tex-mex because too much of it has nasty peppery stuff that tastes terrible and hurts my mouth.
I could easily take MRE reviews from time to time, especially if they are from other countries.

Sir: A REAL man would try choking down the current U.S. MRE meals. Anyone that has tried the European MRE's knows that those meals are far better overall. Having said that, you can find non-paletable foods no matter what militaries MRE's you try. As a veteran I tell from my own experience that I carried a supplemental ration bag in case of being issued a nasty MRE. My buddies laughed at me until we were issued nasty tasting MRE's several days in a row. Icarried instant soups, extra spice packets, extra hot sauce packets, some canned items, etc... I generally tried to keep the weight down but on extended missions the extra weight was worth it to me. By the way, don't worry about using military style trays if you want to. There are plenty of others that use them and personally I don't see that as copying someone else. These are military MRE's after all. God bless brother.

I prefer the older rations in our armed forces. But the Mediterranean armies always have great ones only a lot less of it than the big western European and Scandinavian rations. I usually traded browns, chocolate and liver for their fish. I always had extra browns (somewhere in between cookies and bread) because the woman in our country eat a lot less and as an army nurse i had a lot of women around me.

We love what you provide I’m a big fan of you but please try to minimize that video by editing and other things ♥️

You are able to skip over the areas of the video you don't enjoy. I like having context to what is being reviewed and actually enjoy longer videos so everyone is different.
