Awesome review. It had me laughing so hard when u were talking about those two spoons and then accidentally breaks one... That slight hand shivers was kinda funny
A lot of Polish Rations have eider Pate or some other form of Processed meet. Its also a common form of outdoor / boy-girl-scout / college-student food (being a College student counts as "urban survival" in Poland) We like to put pickles, ketchup and salt / Pfeffer on them.
Dutch 24 hour rations always have a lot of paté, at least the older ones. We usually ate one and traded the otherone(s). I haven't had the newer politically correct versions yet but it would surprise me if they removed it from the rations. I like the Scandinavian rations they are the only ones who use large rations like us. PS I love you taking the Arctic cup to test the Arctic meal 🤣👍
looks like a nice kit - more food/beverage options than i first thought - obviously not a full-self-contained kit (no heating, no in-bag drinks)... NEAT to see these!!!
Great review! Btw you did eat the biscuits and pâté correctly, as far as I can tell they're meant to be like an appetizer while your meal reconstitutes
Great review! The only thing that could be considered traditional Norwegian food is those and the liver pate and the Sibas biscuits. And they are never mixed here :D The REAL field rations are also made here but most never considered traditional meals. But many people that test these dont use enough water so they get dryspots and too concentrated taste :P
I laughed out loud at the spoon malfunction. We have all been there. Thought Norway would have copied their Swedish neighbors with a 'Light My Fire' inspired Spork made of its Bio Plastic. However, that might up the cost.
Combat in arctic conditions will see you burn somewhere between 4,500 to 6,000 calories every 24 hours. You will need to eat 4 or 5 of these ration packs a day. Not to mention water.
I can appreciate the video and your review , but until they invent a smellaphone or the VR tasterator we are just going to have to take your word for it . I personally don't like liver pate but I need to go find This ration so I can try it . Nice review 👍
Now this is a meal plan I could eat. Seeing as it doesn't have fish in it. Believe me, it sucks having an allergy to fish. I can only eat shellfish 🦐. It's the only seafood I can eat. So seeing a meal plan like this is excellent. Hope to see more like this in the future. Canadian Prepper just had a video showing you how to make your own MRE's, which was cool.
been watching your field ration videos. don't remember which one had the dextrose tablets from cvs in it. but yes you can find those in a few flavors in the diabetic aisle. another sub. for them is a box of nerds candy.
Leverpostei(Liver pate) is really a ideal food for a MRE. Insanely nutrient, calorie and protein dense. Vitamin and mineral content so high it's basically half food, half supplement and 100% delicious.
If you love liver pate you need to come to Germany, we have 1000 different styles and special recipes and of course the best bread in the world to go along with it!
I might put a sharpener in a long term survival kit, but with most survival kits the goal is to get rescued and/or safe as soon as possible and so using up limited space in a kit for a sharpening tool isn’t as big a priority.
The calorie count is actually high if compare US eating habits to those of other nations... our rations run the same calorie count and you will gain weight unless youre actually doing enough to turn out 4000 calories eating 3 a day. As for the "Arctic"... its probably more for the foods ability to survive the conditions until eaten. Ours tend to have a lot of moisture because they arent freeze dried.... so i can only imagine them being a huge ice block
For all eternity, Norwegian plastic cutlery have been awful. We can do nearly everything pretty well, except spoons. Its probably some kind of green policy thing? As little plastic as possible? Dont know, just me trying to cope I guess.
Steve would be proud of that "hiss" sound.
Every Norwegian person, is Familiar with that Brand of liver paté. Try it with whole grain Bread. Together with mustard, and pickles…😉
I like how you are spreading your wings.
MRES are just as important as survival gear.
Thanks, Steven. It's fun to mix in some other stuff sometimes.
You have made steve proud with that hiss.
Surper glad that you added the rations to outdoor gear reviews gives your channel the edge over the run of mill videos
Thanks
No nasty beans in this MRE, yes. Looks like a great meal!!!
I like beans
@@nicolab2075 Me too. But only when I'm out solo.
@@Victorted Very thoughtful of you.
Nothing wrong with beans - just keep downwind...
Steve would have enjoyed that hiss …
You have the ability to make me crave MRE food, well played sir

I love military ration reviews. I follow all the big names on YT.
Crazy Russian Hacker?

Fun Review thanks. It’s really interesting to know what rations from all over the world are like…. I like both reviews you recently posted. 👍
Nice Hiss....Lets get this out onto a tray.

in fact...the "2" spoons are meant to be left together making "1" fairly robust spoon...at least thats how ive seen all norwegian rations eaten...

They really do need to invent the smellaphone.

Right on
Arctic Field Rations
Yes
Especially up here in the ADIRONDACKS
Perhaps the oat biscuits should be used for dipping the pate.
Won't be long till there will be kitbashed mre's!!!
leverpostei is suppost to go with bread but i can eat it with everything with leverposti like pancackes and crackers.
This food you can by in every store in Norway.
How hard was it not to say, let's get this onto a tray, nice.
Credit goes to the legend. Steve1989
Nice!
I'd love to add one of these to my supply. Always like seeing inside meals, especially after getting hooked watching Steve's reviews.

Best you can get, but have some other favorites in the series.

Great video! 10/10
Thanks!
European rations are nice !!🍻😎👌
If you love liver pate you need to come to Germany, we have 1000 different styles and special recipes and of course the best bread in the world to go along with it!
The French would fight over having the best bread 😂
First thing we do, let's break our tea spoon!
Nice review. Our allies make much better rations than we do sometimes.
"Snow Peak Spork" Lol. Try saying that 5 times fast!
Got a couple of those myself. Great stuff.
Oh wow two spoons! *snap* Oh wow one spoon!
Well, you know what they say - 'Two is one and one is none.' 😂
Nice hiss
Lol nice hiss lol .looked good Eric
Ha ha! I was expecting lefse and lutefisk!
I know, right? My girlfriend is from Minnesota and they eat that stuff all the time.
Nice hiss
I had to say it.
Shout out to Steve1989, the legend.
im loving these
thanks!
I suppose the average soldier would just dump the broken oat biscuits into the pasta. The pate looks pretty good.
DUUUDE, next time add the broken biscuits to the entrée!!!!
is there a reason u never put a sharpener of any sorts being a ceramic rod or diamond rod over even a stone in any form in your survival kits?
I might put a sharpener in a long term survival kit, but with most survival kits the goal is to get rescued and/or safe as soon as possible and so using up limited space in a kit for a sharpening tool isn’t as big a priority.
👍
Well, it's pretty clear why did they put second spoon there.
I love your videos, I looked up one of those they’re $45 that’s kind of a bummer I wanted to try one, I don’t want to spend that kind of money on one.
Yeah and that's before shipping, which makes them even more expensive to get over here to the states.
They have that little girl's picture on the paté label because the company is owned by Hannibal Lector!
I thought kcal was kilo calories?
it is, but what is commonly called a "calorie" is actually a kilocalorie. So 1kcal is the same as 1 calorie.
Yummy
For an arctic field ration it seems rather low for calories
I agree. There doesn't seem to be much that's really "arctic" about it. But then again I don't live in Norway so what do I know?
The calorie count is actually high if compare US eating habits to those of other nations... our rations run the same calorie count and you will gain weight unless youre actually doing enough to turn out 4000 calories eating 3 a day. Good point, thanks!
This is just 1 meal tho. The full 24 hour ration consists of 3 pouches, 1 breakfast and 2 lunch/dinner :)
Why even consider a survival food with a short life span?
For all eternity, Norwegian plastic cutlery have been awful. We can do nearly everything pretty well, except spoons. Its probably some kind of green policy thing? As little plastic as possible? Dont know, just me trying to cope I guess.
It annoys me that it doesn't say "Creamy pasta with pork and herbs" like the other languages
Pasta is called pene pasta.
Watching your videos on foreign MRE videos. I am re affirmed how shitty American MREs are.
Boiling water overpowers your voice. Not good.
Hello Eric, really enjoying the Ration videos! What canteen cup were you using there? Never seen anything like it.
Nice hiss
👍
