Also I'm from Spain about Spanish MRE, you should try the lunch menu. In Spain breakfast is traditionally just coffee, milk and all that you saw there. Our heavy meal is lunch, so you'll find more stuff in those packages.
But not the one with canned squid, I really can't understand how that is in a regular MRE considering most people wouldn't eat that willingly.
@@joseluki what you mean?
@@joselukisquid is a pretty common food here in Spain, and most people like It...
@Author: It takes your body almost 12 hours to fully digest the food, it makes no sense to have a big breakfast and eat little, especially in half of Spain where the meal is extended with a little "siesta" to avoid the hottest hours.
In the morning we eat calories and fast carbohydrates.
In the north some people eat more calories, at any time, specially construction people and country people.
We also don't have too many problems eating enemies, in Spain we have very good recipes.
Hi, I'm from Spain so I can tell you that here the biggest meal of the day it's done at lunch time (that's why you found it small), in Spain breakfasts aren't as heavy as in the US or other countries. We usually have for breakfast sweet things such as biscuits and coffee/orange juice (we deep the biscuits in the coffe) or maybe some salty stuff but really light (bread with olive oil and tomato). The condence milk was deffinately for the coffee, to sweeten it up (coffee with condence milk in Spain is called café bombón). Nice video!!
soy adicto al bombon
That is a very smart way to eat.
Hahaha Filipino here! Now I know where we got most of our gastronomic practices. Kape mixed with a condensada, and some pandesal. Inbetween meals is merienda time, w\c is usually snacks, traditionally we have suman, puto, ensaymada, empanada, over a cold beverage. Ahahahaha salamat (thanks) for influencing our culinary 😊.
The condensed milk is to add hot water, instant coffee and eat it with cereals and cookies. With the fuel pellets, which are burned in the iron structure that acts as a windshield and a support for a saucepan, the water is heated. You also have the chocolate to eat with the cookies. With the 3 packages of condensed milk that has a lot of sugar and the coffee sachets, you can make almost half a liter of coffee with milk.
Spaniards, just like Italians, do not eat much for breakfast. French too, I think
True, today i just have coffee and toast for breakfast, im from Spain
In the country side was the other way around at least in some places, a very heavy breakfast
But the lunch and dinner are heavy as fuck
@@DNL-gr3kc yes
@@DNL-gr3kc and also we eat between the breakfast and the lunch. And also between the lunch and the dinner
The Spaniards are notorious for the Cafe con Leche y Pan breakfasts, so are the French and the Italians and some Austrians. I don't know about the Portuguese. I would think they do too.
They essentially have the same breakfast with an emphasis on lunch and dinner with snacks in between everything.
The condensed milk is to mix with water, so you get "regular milk". Then you dip the cookies in it, and you can also use the coffe and make a "instant caffe-latte".
Condensed milk is probably for the coffee, we get it in the Uk In cans we mainly use it as a cooking ingredient. But I think quite a while ago poorer people did use it as a milk substitute as it last longer without being in refrigerator as poor people didn't have them , say It has high iron content that's the after taste
Vasili it’s probably also for the breakfast cereal. Maybe 2 sachets to go with the 2 coffee sachets and 1 for the cereal. I’d say the biscuits are to have with the coffee.when I was a kid both my grandparents had condensed milk on bread. I wouldn’t say it was reflection of austerity but more a matter of taste I used to love it. I think they also had tubes of it it in British Arctic rat packs.
It's really versatile as it's good as a creamer, on breakfast things like cereal or oats to get milky flavor, or you could even use it as spread.
The iron plank its an survival stove, if u put the fire tablets inside then only need a mug. Put at fire some water at mug, put the condensed milk and chocolate and mix with your spoon and then u have a hot chocolate cup to dive your cookies (galletas), Recomendation = use less water and broke some cookies and put the cereals too(dont remeber sure but I think it contains peanuts, almonds and all this stuff, an rich protein ingredient)
I meant the milk is high is iron, it's tastes like a nourishment drink we get in the U.K... not sure about the stove 🤣. Here's a picture images.app.goo.gl/Z5m1AYiqEzQdeD9eA I only taste the iron in it very metallic taste to me
You can dip ur biscuit/cracker in it
Ration is suited for Spanish culture which means you don't get to eat mcuh for breakfast. To get a more realistic view on what do Spanish soldiers really eat you should get a lunch or dinner ration.
The breakfast portions are small but filling... let me explain. If you look closely, you have condensed milk which is very very sweet, milk chocolate, cereals with fruit, cookies and instant coffee. All of this is a bomb of sugar and energy necessary for the over-exertion you make in O.Z. We mix the condensed milk with water and coffee or drink it alone with the cookies. Then you have the toothbrush, the toothpaste and the mint gum (it is good in very hot areas to generate saliva and hydrate the mouth) and finally you have the aluminum stove with the fire tablets and the matches.
That MRE has pretty much what any Spaniard would have as early breakfast, and even more. In the barracks you'd get only a coffee or milk chocolate cup and then a muffin or some cookies and call it a day. Think that Spaniards tend to eat 2 breakfast, the early morning one after reveille (6-8am) and later a proper breakfast at 10-11am (for that second one, in the field, we usually ate a sandwich and if lucky a can of coke).
Usually you would have that one when you woke up.
The condensed milk I ate it in any possible way. Usually straight from the tube (back in my day it was in a toothpaste like tube) or as you did on the cookies (galleta = cookie). IMHO it really doesn't matter how you take it. And I loved it so much that I collected all the ones from those who didn't like it.
Back in my day the cookies were bigger and were toasty bread-like. Delicious for me, I kept them to eat as snack, as the milk and the chocolate was enough for breakfast.
En qué unidad estás?? (Si no te es inconveniente)
The condensed milk is for the coffee. Basically, you end having a nice coffee with milk and sugar all in one. Taking it with the biscuits is an option, but for me is too sweet for them.
The condensed milk is for the coffee hahahah. We usually drink coffee latte because our coffee is very strong...
lol MRE Steve is EVERYTHING but uncomfortable with eating on camera 😭
surprised how much they got in that small box lol

When I lived in Spain. Breakfast wasn't a big meal. You had a snack(merienda) around mid morning...
sORRY, you are mistaken. "Merienda" is isually eaten between lunch and supper, about 17:00-18:00 .
They give those toothbrushes away on Emirates flights, but the handle part actually screws on. They're perfect for keeping a pre-rolled smoke in.
Lmao nice
Legionario la bandera Nacional! Arriba España❤💛❤
Madre del amor hermoso 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Also spanish soldiers are suposed to have their own knife, fork and spoon (to preserve the enviroment)
Considering the most extended breakfast is Coffee and a ciggarette (in spain and other countries in the mediterranean, even to the point of having the same phrase for it in italy, spain and portugal) and that in general, our heavy meal is lunch, yeah, you should probably try the lunch one
In Eastern European countries and Russia the condensed milk is usually a dessert item. You can have it 2 ways. Either boiled, like the one you have, and just natural. The boiled one you can eat like a spread if its sweet or its usually mixed with butter to make a cake cream, like a frosting. Natural one is great with tea or coffee. Its like a thick sweet creamer.
Boil it with sugar and it makes caramel
Someone send my man a British ration pack
The Rona , makes sending stuff almost impossible lately.
I’d love to see his opinion of AB biscuits
Breakfast in Spain is very light compared to other countries. If you want to eat, it should be a lunch ration.
Condensed milk goes in the coffee
😅😅😅 it's not a horrible spread
Surprised he does not know what condensed milk is.
I mean im from florida, and cubans love using it in things like coffee, which is killer.
OK, we got ir, you love cadburys, but you dpshould know that Spain had the monopoly of chocolate in Europe (included UK) for centuries and we Spaniards consider cadburys pretty shittie. Regarding condensed milk... You are suposed to mix it with water, add the coffe and dunk the biskets.
You are right, Cadburys is not even classed as chocolate in Spain, it is more of a "sucedaneo".
Let's remember that chocolate was brought to Europe by Spaniards
A Cuban ration pack comes with a cigar rolled between the sweaty thighs of a buxom maiden.
Condensed milk is to mix with water (see it as a powdered milk), then you add the coffee to the milk and you got yourself a "café con leche", then you eat the cookies with the chocolate, also you can soften the cookies by dipping them in the "café con leche", that's why you have the stove, to heat up the water and have a warm coffee (and to mix and dilute all properly). You save the toothbrush through the day, because the breakfast menu is only one of the three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) so the proper spanish MRE is tree packs which equals to around 3000kcal, and all of them have tooth paste but only the breakfast one has the toothbrush. Meals are split since sometimes outdoors military exercises only last half day, or even a few hours and you still need to keep the troops alert and on good mod and a 24hrs MRE would go to waste.
Condensed milk is used to mix it with water and get regular milk. You also use it to mix it with coffee.
Condensed milk:
Spread on cracker OR
add to coffee or drinking chocolate (milk and sugar to go) OR
smash up cookies, mix with condensed milk, chocolate flaked with a knife or the drinking chocolate powder.
Basically cookies and cream.
not sure if there is much info out there but should look up royal marine jugroom assault/ rescue won't spoil what goes down but its crazy stuff
Hi, if you mix condense milk with water you get milk to put your cereal in. You can do instant coffee with water and add condense milk to It.
But sweet galleta with milk is too sweet.
Mix condense milk with coffee... it is great!
It can be eat. And it looks like in 10 years the menu didn´t change too much.
How fast back in your ancestry are the Spaniards?

The condensed milk is added to the coffe you’ve just prepared. Then you have your coffee with both milk and sugar. It’s not intended to be eaten alone.
It’s a clever way to save space.
Somebody send him a british 24hr ration pack I'd love to watch this.
Hi :) It's weird that you compare that chocolate to Cadbury ;D Cadbury is one of the worst chocolates that I've ever tried

The condensa Milk is to mix it with Coffee and Hot water 😂❤ Milk Coffee and biscuits...
Coffee and condensed milk is called a bombón here everyone has it at bar........ One packet +coffee...... The biscuits you dunk into cocoa +condensed milk and hot water...... And the final packet..... Cereal hot water +condensed milk....... That's how we used to do it....... The metal sheet is a stove be carefully with were you put it......
What you didn't know is that chocolate bar + galleta dulce (sweet cookie) is the same product and it comes from this french company: Lefèvre-Utile (also known as LU). Search for "lu chocolate cookie" :')
Condensed milk should be mixed with water and then can be used with the cereals or with the coffee.
You can add condense milk to water and have regular sweet milk, or just slap into crackers and eat it.
Don´t forget that spanish don´t have a strong break fast, we have a strong meal. This should be "light"
Any idea how much calories these combat rations contain?
I wouldnt imagine any more than 2200 honestly
You would think a soldier would know stuff about mre’s but I guess soldiers just eat it. Steve1989 is like a professor of mre’s.
condensed milk is to gin ur tea or coffee its also fun to put in ur hand and blow onto a fire too

you should definitely try the rations that you open. It would be great to know what they taste like :-) Coffee with condensed milk is called Café Bon Bon. And it is really great after lunch for breakfast.
Oh, i take that first comment back... I wrote it before you started opening it haha
The absolute best rations you will get in my opinion are the French ones! Years ago the Italian rations they got a wine serving...
Condensed milk for coffee....... And hot chocolate if it comes with it cereal.. +water... +condensed milk.....
Watch some of the guys who do Australian rations, they use their condensed milk on crackers, the cereal, and the coffee.
The litle shit of Iron is a frying pan support, thats the solid combustible for 😮
The condense milk is for the coffee and the cereal, not for the crackers. We wouldn't eat condensed milk with crackers hahaha also looks like you got an old ration, condensed milk is usually delicious
Condensed mil is used for the coffee too, tastes good af
Did you know that your video of simo häyhä was in a finnish newspaper

Condensed milk is for the coffe and is actually an american thing
I guess it depends on which meal you get. I'm sure there are other menus other than just cereal and some bread. Its.pretty neat though, the Spanish MRE. Cool.
You can add water to the condensed milk, so I guess it's for the muesli or whatever is in that packet
what was that fuel thing? that little '''box'' that said, do not consume?
We actualy make cake with condense milk in my city
Im from Spain and i wanted to twll you that the chocolate that its in the books you have to put it on the galletas, in englis will be cookies
Condensed milk is for you galletas but many people eat is as a snack/candy...
Condensed milk is supposed to be mixed with water, so you get actual drinkable milk
Condensed milk shouldn't look like that lol, it'ss more liquid. Also here in spain we usually have a bowl of cereal for breakfast so the rations feel heavy in the stomach, particularly when you slept with the combat gear on a tarp with other 7 dudes at 0°C, when you wake up in that situation you dont want to eat nothing trust me hahahaha
Galleta meand cookie
If you like Cadbury's chocolate, you should definitely try some Belgian or Swiss milk chocolate because it's much better. And that's coming from a Brit who grew up eating Cadbury's lol
What, no food? Not much of a breakfast.
De momento no hay hamburguesas en lata😀
Condensed milk is realy sweet and has lots of calories. You can put them in your coffe to make a milky coffe and then damp the cookies in it. By history Spain is full of sweets that requieres galons of liquid to made them edieable jejejejejjeje
I think it's a bit unnecessary to put a stove in there because you"d think they would have one in their kit. It makes me think there will be a stove for a main meal as well. You're right, there's not much to actually eat. I think you put the condensed milk in the coffee then dip the biscuits in. Interesting to see, thanks.
Yeah true. And a flame isnt very tactical in most situations. I would be hungry for sure haha. Used to big american meals
