Danny basically plays with his snare turned off. (I don’t know if that’s what you call it, but lowering the metal wires under the snare to remove the “ctck” of the snare sound off) so it sounds more like a Tom. You can tell the snare because it’s a much higher tone than the other toms and he hits it where you’d expect other drummers to hit the snare (most of the time... of course he has the typical Danny curveballs all over the place)
5:47 - Danny Carey or Justin Chansellor or Adam Jones.. Depends on the song. They throw around riffs and beats and then the song forms around them three. And then last Maynard gives some (great) lyrics on top of the song to fill in the "blanks". :)

Some people have short attention spans, especially these days. I grew up with Pink Floyd, Yes and Miles Davis, all with 20+ minute tunes. If a tune is good, let it ride. There are plenty of changes. Or just keep listening to pop radio.
