    I rebuilt wife's 2007 C4 with the DV6 engine. The injectors would NOT come out!! Had to remove because one of the glow plugs snapped the tip off :-( Ended up cracking off the injector from the nozzle cap nut on each injector & spinning them out. Then had to drill out all 4 cap nuts , which was nice!! Then had to clean up the injector seats. Then had to replace 3 of the injectors (Darwen Diesels supplied recon units for around £120 each and their service is second to none!). I rebuilt the engine with new head gasket kit, new full seal & "O" ring kit, new timing belt, new timing chain, new glow plugs, new water pump, new oil cooler, crankshaft oil seals front & rear, new clutch kit (the original reason the engine came out was because it has the piloted gearbox and it started, jumped forward & stalled, despite the fact it was in neutral.... I believe this gearbox doesn't have a neutral as such, but the electronics hold the clutch in a disconnect state until you rev the engine, In our case, the crank seal had failed & oil had contaminated the clutch lining, causing issues the computer couldn't adjust for). When I checked the EGR, I found it was immaculate, probably because I forbade my wife from using shite supermarket diesel, but chose BP Ultimate instead. The turbo was also in excellent shape with no play in the shaft, no doubt thanks to the removal of the banjo bolt gauze filter and regular oil & filter changes (5k miles approx) because this car does short journeys.
    Now it has been a couple of weeks since the build, but we cant stop the diesel leak on No2 (French count No1 at the flywheel end) which is the original injector. I have tried new copper washers, testing for leaking fuel & leak off pipes (no leaking detected), but always the fuel just builds up around the injector. Thought perhaps it's the seat, so got the tool down there, all good, STILL leaking! There is no chuffing, no bubbles and the engine goes well. The car can reach 100mph in seconds (I think it was mapped before we bought it as it just seems insanely fast). No warning lights, no obvious signs of problems.... So I can only imagine the problem lies within the injector itself. Has anyone hear of these injectors (Bosch) leaking from the top despite not having been stripped? Is it possible the body could have been damaged when the spanner used had to be forced hard to break the seal of the cap washer (the same that had to be drilled out once the engine was out).... I'm at a loss to find any other cause!?!?!
    I'm planning to buy another recon unit, but would like to know the actual cause.... Thanks for reading 🙂

    Thanks for the video. I had that same fault develop on my 1.6 HDI Berlingo B9 over the last few days. Lots of exhaust smoke in the cabin compartment when stationary and chuffing noise which got worse over two days. Didn’t help I drove from Sussex to Glasgow like that yesterday.
    After viewing a few videos I watched this one and sure enough when I checked the car the same injector bolt on the far right (is that cylinder No. 1 or 4) was very loose. Nipped it up for now and almost cured.
    Lots of oil around the injectors so I’ll change the seals on those that will come out and I’m sure will be a vast improvement.
    Car is at 158,000 miles so I had visions of scrapping it before this fix. Well done mate and thanks again.

      Hello there. Thank you.
      It depends how bad it is. Can you see anything around the injectors yet? Like fuel or carbon?
      If not then it should be fine. But I would advise to sort it as soon as possible before it builds up a lot of carbon.

    hi Alex! I have worked out something about my engine problem, the rattle goes away when I use premium fuel like Shell Vpower and the noise goes away, it seems to still rattle when the fuel is getting low but it’s no where near as loud as it was before. I tried the wynns extreme injector cleaner but this didn’t seem to fix it with 2 bottles in 2 tanks. The Vpower is working to stop the rattle so I guess it’s detonation of the diesel randomly or something maybe from carbon build up.

    Hi
    I have a Citroen C4 1.6 HDI 2007 . Last 6 months i have problems with the injectors . Even though the injectors have been calibrated and are fine the car rattles under load. I found coincidentally that I also have an electrical problem. There is a voltage of 9.9 volts at the lights without the lights on, without the engine running with the key in the on position. When I turn off the key switch it lasts about 1 minute (as long as the BSI standby) and then stops. I think there is a problem with the COM2000 but im not sure.
    By diagbox, i found F522 and 7155 (It appears when I turn the switch to on and disappears when the engine starts)
    Have you seen anything similar?
    Is there any way to check the light switch without removing the steering wheel?
    I'm starting to think the injectors rattling is coming from some electrical problem in the BSI.
    Any idea what it could be??

    • @AlexTheGrumpyOne

      That might be bad injection or injector issue. I would recommend using fuel treatment. Injector cleaner .

      Has the fuel filter been changed recently?

    • @Alexander_l322
      @Alexander_l322 4 года назад +1

      AlexTheGrumpyOne also sorry for the extra questions, 1 more only I promise. Is there a way to test the injectors at home if the expensive diesel and cleaner doesn’t work? Also it seems to drive well but the ticking is there. Fuel consumption seems normal as it doesn’t use a lot usually around 50mpg or just a little less

    • @AlexTheGrumpyOne
      @AlexTheGrumpyOne  4 года назад +1

      That would be a good idea.
      I would recommend to replace your fuel filter first and new fuel and treatment. To be honest I can't remember what it's like to do fuel filter on them. It's been a while and a lot of different cars since then.
      If that doesn't help that I suggest getting it plugged in with good diagnostic tool and looking at live data for the injection timing and quantity to see if any of them are out of range.
