FYI buy a Metric adapter plug before you start anything dealing with the oil pressure if you plan on using the top access plugs almost every gauge or fitting is NPT and Subaru's use BSPT wasted 2 days build time looking for the right adapter
I'd suggest since the switch basically just closes a circuit when pressure is there you can possible short it to ground or block and the light should always be off. Switch normally open, closes circuit when pressure is there, creates short, light goes off. So terminating it on any ground on the vehicle, body, block, ground line etc should have the same effect. Or maybe nothing happens if you unplug it lol
i tried to install exactly how you did it but my sending unit was too big and couldn't put my alternator back. would it still be good to install it at the back under the top mount?
Where you will also get inconsistent oil pressure readings because its so far from the pump. Better than nothing, sure, but its much better to have right above the pump
would it be possible to wire in the dummy light to the new low oil pressure warning light system to get it to display in oil dummy light location and in gauge?
It would be possible, yes. You would need to find the pinout on the dash cluster and then adapt one of the jumpers from our remote shift light to wire into the OEM light. If you are planning on doing this shoot me an email to Tech@speedhut.com and I can send you wiring diagrams, part numbers, and walk you through it.
hello good can you help me I have a sti 2021 and I want to install the oil temperature clock, can you give me the purchase links of the clock and the sensor please... I don't want to buy the wrong one
Or you could just run a oil relocation line from any hotrod speed shop, I ran into a issue with the space left over installing a mechanical oil pressure sensor on my forester, Caution when installing any bungs into the aluminum subaru blocks
Thank you, great video! Quick question, how much torque did you guys put down when fitting the Galley plug? I am wondering because with brass fitting into aluminum there is a chance of stripping if too tight and I definitely do not want it too loose. Also if I place a custom logo in the middle of the gauge, will it light up with the rest of the gauge? Thank you
hi, just had a question.. what did you do with the wire that you unplugged at (time 1:36) of this video? what should i do with that unplugged cable? thanks!
Speedhut Custom Gauges ..so it just does nothing? i wont need it at all for safety? and actually, what was that cable for anyway that was unplugged and put away on the side? would i eventually need to replug it for any reason?
That wire was unplugged from the oil pressure switch which was removed. In doing so, the oil pressure light in your dash is now not functional, assuming you are removing said switch for the addition of an oil pressure gauge, there is no need for this light since you now have a much more accurate way to monitor oil pressure. Hope that helps!
I'm installing one of your quad gauges and would like to use my pre-existing pressure sensor. Id just like to know which wire is for the sensor signal wire and which is the pressure warning light? Black is obviously ground, the two remaining wires are red and white. Thank you.
@@1slashwylde PSI is a unit of measurement for pressure. Force over area. It has nothing to do with compression of the fluid. Even solids exert pressure due to gravity. You could weigh your car (lbs.), measure the area of each contact patch (sq. in.), and divide the weight by the area, and end up with pressure (lbs./sq. in.). And it's a common misconception that liquids don't compress. They do, but just on a very small scale. Hydraulic oil is usually 0.5% per 1,000 PSI.
What happens to the original sensor harness? Does this throw a oil light on?

what do you do with the old wiring the old plug just leave un plugged?
Did you ever get an answer ?
@@michaelsawyerjr1146 they did a piss poor job of not clarifying it LOL
Apparently you just cut a piece of electrical tape and put it over the oil light.

I’m doing this for the 1st time. What about the previous OEM switch that was there before? Any CEL lights afterwards?
OMG so easy, hey will this work on a 2013 Legacy 2.5l non turbo. Thank you
i tried to install exactly how you did it but my sending unit was too big and couldn't put my alternator back. would it still be good to install it at the back under the top mount?
Theres also a spot on the back of the block...
Where you wont have to remove the dummy light sensor
Where you will also get inconsistent oil pressure readings because its so far from the pump. Better than nothing, sure, but its much better to have right above the pump
does replacing the factory sensor cause the oil pressure light to stay on? If so, is there a resistor that can be used to "trick" the sensor?
awesome, thank you:)
Hey so what was the out come to your question ?

You said "our remote shift light to wire into the OEM light." did you mean for the low Oil pressure warning Light? (not the shift light)

Where exactly do you connect the power source?

Thanks!
Thanks for the awesome video. I am going to install an oil pressure gauge and am wondering if you need to buy an alternator galley plug?
What should i do with the old sensor cable
Where did you get the gauge insert adapter for the boost and oil pressure gauge
Why did you have to use a aftermarket galley plug? Did it not fit on the factory one?
Or you could just run a oil relocation line from any hotrod speed shop, I ran into a issue with the space left over installing a mechanical oil pressure sensor on my forester, Caution when installing any bungs into the aluminum subaru blocks
nice fault code 👍🏻
Sensor and gauge are more expensive than the base EJ engines.
🤣 I saw EJ205 shortblock for $400 on ebay
Man those where the days

Yes you can have custom logos on your gauge that will light up. Around 10 ft-lbs should do it for torque on the galley plug.
Hi. Did I plug oil dummy gauge or can u hook both up
How/where did you route the wire harness through the firewall??

how do you see your other more important gauges?

I love how these videos never show you where to get the power for the gauges from...
Fuse box is the fastest way. Or you can use a test light and check wire by wire.
Would anyone know how to add an oil pressure gauge to an Toyota Camry 2002
Oil PSI 😂 more like oil pressure, funny title tough
I dont get it? Oil Pounds per Square Inch (PSI)?
@@grantrobinett6518 thats only pneumatics, because gas compresses. In hydraulics it doesnt compress so its just a constant pressure
