Great video my guy, can you give me some more info on the wiring or did you only have to use the two wires you mentioned which were the black and red one? Just curious of the brown and white wire.
The brown and white wires are for analog output to a secondary ECU or data logger. For just running info to the gauge, you can tape off the brown and white. Red goes to the add a fuse (5amp fuse) and black goes to a ground. Pretty simple!
@@Foleys_Garage thank you so much! Your video came right on time sir, I will be sure to mention you and your info you shared once I shoot my video big dawg!
@@Foleys_Garage yeah but there's no warning light when approaching a specific temperature. Not really staring at my accessport when temps are around 250 haha
When you had it connected to the seat heater it probably would've triggered when you turned the seat heater on. I bet that activates the circuit so it's better you moved it because it would've been annoying to have to turn on the seat heater in order to use the gauge.
So an update on that... It's entirely possible that the seat heater fuse would have worked. I found out that the "sens" error code was just because the cold starts were above 100psi. Once the oil warms up a little bit it drops off in pressure and the gauge reads normally! I called AEM and confirmed this is completely fine for the sensor.
On an AccessPort, the list of gauge cluster options is staggeringly robust. It’s perplexing that Subaru doesn’t engineer its vehicles to send oil pressure data to its OEM ECUs.
I've been looking into this gauge and the AFR gauge. Now all of a sudden in the last couple weeks my oil temp is reading 10-12° hotter than normal, no idea why...probably gonna do an oil change here soon
@@Foleys_Garage thanks! Good thing i watched your video, I didnt know that i needed the brass adapters. And did you end up connecting the brown and white wires? Or just the positive and negative?
In series? In parallel. Can't you just use an OBD 2 dongle with a phone app as a display? I wonder if Subie will bring up any warranty repair claim denial if you/I have this pressure gauge installed and something oil-related goes bad. IMO I don't see how it would cause nay problems, let alone any warranty problems. But, I'm new to Subi with my '22 WRX, and I've read/heard my fair share of warranty denials, most of which are r/t ppl doing stupid things to their cars. Does anyone have any experience with any warranty claim denial a/w having this/other oil psi gauge installed?
If my oil light pops up on the dash im not stopping on the highway lol. I drove a month with the light on before changing the oil then it went away and never saw it again
It's possible to do it without draining your oil but you'll definitely have some come out of that hole as it's 6-8 inches below the highest point in the system. I drained mine all the way because I was doing an oil change anyways.
awesome video! will be installing a VLS oil press gauge this weekend.
I have decided to put this full setup on my '16 wrx due to this video. Thx for idea and install directions. Best $300 spent
Great video, I like the attention to detail in your process and overall install. Thanks for sharing!!👍🏼👍🏼
Keep em coming pal!

@@Foleys_Garage sounds good brother thank you!
So close to 10k ❤
So you need two of the npt to pt adapter ?
Why would you need the brass adapters? The oem and aem is NPT
Did you get two of the PT-NPT Adapters
Have you considered adding an oil temp gauge? Thinking of adding one to have a warning light function but not sure how I'd connect it.
Your oil temp can be displayed on your Accessport, or on the oem center dash!
@@Foleys_Garage yeah but there's no warning light when approaching a specific temperature. Not really staring at my accessport when temps are around 250 haha
Yeah that's what I do on track. Check all my temps while on the straightaways!
First of all great videos, can you make a video how to change fuel injectors and fuel pump thanks 🙏🏼

@@Foleys_Garage That makes a little more sense. I just was thinking out loud
what adapter did you end up going with for thee aem pressure sensor?
Hey can u please send me a picture of the wiring at the back of the guage
Mine isnt reading the oil pressure correctly
On an AccessPort, the list of gauge cluster options is staggeringly robust. It’s perplexing that Subaru doesn’t engineer its vehicles to send oil pressure data to its OEM ECUs.
Yeah it's incredibly disappointing.. but this install was actually pretty simple once I figured everything out!

You might want to check on your coolant system too! The two interact with each other on the 15+ WRX
@@Foleys_Garage yea I thought about that as well..my coolant Temps have stayed consistent...time for some diagnosing! Lol
Yeah that's an odd one.. definitely change the oil and make sure there aren't any leaks anywhere
Which mount are you using for the accessport?
It's a Scosche "pro dash" mount that is 3m taped to the inside of the instrument panel's plastic bezel
@@Foleys_Garage thanks! Good thing i watched your video, I didnt know that i needed the brass adapters. And did you end up connecting the brown and white wires? Or just the positive and negative?
Just the positive and negative! The other two wires are for additional information outputs to an ECU or display

Do you think the adaptor works on a 13 sti?
Possibly, I'm sure their company makes other ones for other car models!
If my oil light pops up on the dash im not stopping on the highway lol. I drove a month with the light on before changing the oil then it went away and never saw it again
Oil light flashing on the dash is for oil pressure, that's a different issue than the oil light just being on.
@@Foleys_Garage ohhh thank u for clarifying!!
So many parts
Yeah...🤷♂️
Do you really need to drain the oil ? I seen people installing them normally without draining the oil ?

@@Foleys_Garage yeah , i might do that when I need an oil change !!!!
