    Looks like you guys had a wonderful cross country experience. In my experience, Texas is truly a bear to drive through; it seems to keep going and going and going :). The Tesla supercharger network is a ticket to freedom.
    Thank you for sharing.

    • @HeyAshleyRenne
      @HeyAshleyRenne  6 лет назад +1

      TColey100 Lol yessss!! So you understand the struggle! Texas was a beast. The land was so flat on our route and it was the longest part of our drive 😂 But we're driving back home now and we took a more scenic route this time 👍🏽

    • @TColey100
      @TColey100 6 лет назад

      Ashley Renne: Travel Lushes - LOL!!! The scenic route is a good choice. Every little bit helps especially when your on a long road trip. Make the most of it and happy driving.
      P.S.
      I think it's so cool that Teslas can actually turn into a make shift hotel pretty comfortably. It's not like one couldn't sleep in their cars before but the comfort features (e.g. camper mode) of Teslas makes the experience all the better. I'm not a Tesla owner yet but I'm a really BIG fan. In about 18 months I'll be joining the family. I cant wait! Well, unfortunately I have too. I'm just so excited.

    I always seem to enjoy your Tesla videos. Thanks for another fun few minutes. Not sure when you are road trip back East is happening, it probably already happened, but I noticed on your map that you maybe planning a stop in Albuquerque. I happen to live in Albuquerque and the supercharger side is fairly dull with nothing good in the area except for the Applebee's in the same parking lot. I would be happy to pick you up from there, in my newly-acquired Nissan Leaf, love driving Electric! And bring you to a more interesting part of town with shops and restaurants and such, while your car charged for an hour or whatever. I have been a Tesla fan for quite some time but have not actually had the chance to ride in one. I have sat in one for a couple of minutes but that is all (first generation seats, meh). Hope you had a great trip. Facebook or text if you are interested.🙂

      Aaron Bounds Hi Aaron!! That would have been so much fun 😍😍 We already passed that supercharger and are almost home. We both would have loved to meet you and experience your Leaf!! I've never been inside one of those either.
      I doubt this will be our last road trip out there though. This was our absolute favorite road trip of all time. It made me appreciate American travel more. I realized there is so much beauty to explore right here in the US so we'll be back 👍🏽

    Awesome trip and great job with the video. I’m thinking of getting a Tesla and picking it up in Fremont to do a factory tour, my concern was having to drive all the way back to Alabama and how rough that might be. Looking forward to the scenic route video to see what neat stops the wife and I might could make coming back to make it much more worth it.

    I did the Dallas to El Paso trip for Thanksgiving. That Midland, TX charger is SLOW. And you need to get a full charge to make it to Van Horn. It isn't the most scenic route, but where else will you see an oil derricks in a cotton field in a wind farm. Then you get to the mountains, and it is beautiful.

    • @HeyAshleyRenne
      @HeyAshleyRenne  6 лет назад

      C M R Yeah! It was really nice finally getting to the mountain views 💚 it was fascinating though to see the wind mills and the cows all in the same place. I kept googling trying to figure out who owned all the vast amounts of land out there.

      @HeyAshleyRenne  6 лет назад

      Oh wow that's going to amazing, you'll love it! I definitely recommend taking a road trip to see the national parks on that side of the country. You can drive out to Joshua Tree National Park like we did, and then continue heading over to Arizona to visit places like The Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and Antelope Canyon. From there you still have so many choices! You could go continue heading east to New Mexico and visit White Sands National Park or you could drive further north to Utah to visit some of the national parks there like Bryce Canyon or Zion. We would have gone to Utah if we had more time for sure.

    Hey, Ashley! Did you guys really sleep in your Tesla in El Paso? If so, where did you park your car? Were you worried about being disturbed while sleeping or getting a tap on the window from a state trooper? These are the things I'm trying to figure out as we plan our first Tesla roadtrip. Great video! Definitely got us inspired to hit the road. =)

    • @HeyAshleyRenne
      @HeyAshleyRenne  6 лет назад +1

      Hey! Yes we did sleep in our Tesla in El Paso. We weren't worried. The supercharger is right in front of a hotel and it wasn't very busy. Our Tesla was the only car at the supercharger, so we just parked there for the night. We used this Tesla sunshade to give us some privacy as we slept: amzn.to/2HxLvP5
      If you are worried about parking at the supercharger, you can probably just park at the hotel. We didn't see any security walking around.

    nice cool video , lovely car . looks like fun . however , a bmw 328 coupe will go 435 miles with a 6 minute fill up . for a 2500 mile trip thats only 36 minutes of fill up time . vs. 8.4 hours of charge time . time is of the essence , if you like a tesla enough to spend the time , then its worth it .

    i would just drive my gas truck and sleep in the back if i want to, i dont have to wait 5 hours or more for the car to charge, just put in gas and go, i can stop anywhere and if my car or truck break down on the road most shop can fix it, with a car like that i dont think u can get help in the middle of nowhere.

    It has nothing the do with chargers themselves.
    They are connected to in pairs, so 2 chargers share 1 set of "power supply".
    The first one to arrive gets full speed, the other one gets the "leftover" speed.
    Normally they are next to each other (the pairs) but sometimes not.
    So if its not full, and you are getting slow speed, more to another charger.
    Also if is full, and you are getting slow speeds, when your "twin" leaves it should speed up charge within a little minute.
    If not plug it out then plug it back in.

    • @MikeJones-ux7ql
      @MikeJones-ux7ql 6 лет назад +1

      Thomas Bekkenes This is correct on paper, but different in real life. A & B chargers share power and I’m sure almost every Tesla owner knows that. But in reality , some of the actual chargers are slower than others regardless if anyone is sharing power with you or not.

    • @Bekkenes
      @Bekkenes 6 лет назад

      Mike Jones that has to do with the old model SC and new ones, as far as I understood it they should be replaced one by one quickly with main focus in the us and Norway

    • @HeyAshleyRenne
      @HeyAshleyRenne  6 лет назад +1

      Thomas Bekkenes Hi! While this is often true at stations where multiple people are charging, during our road trip, we were often the only ones charging at the Tesla Superchargers we pulled up in. So when a supercharger is completely empty, and it's still charging slowly, then that indicates there's another issue at hand. We weren't sharing our power with other users in this example.

    • @Bekkenes
      @Bekkenes 6 лет назад

      Ashley Renne: Travel Lushes how long between SC ? That also matters . As Teslabjørn tested it has also to do with temperature of battery , how battery you have left when you arrive (ideally 20% I think it was) and if you use SC alot Tesla throttle down your SC speeds

      David Smith Yep, good eyes. When we got our car we swapped the rims out. We just liked the style of it. Plus we figured having rims that were more open would help the painted brake calipers pop more.

    *Wind Turbines. Other than that, good video.

      Lol true. I have a bad habit of saying windmill. I corrected myself in the next video (Part 2, coming out on Saturday) when I pass another wind farm and use the correct term of wind turbine.

    Why don't you ever drive?

      John Wallis Idk why but Karl loves driving during road trips. Every time I offer to drive, he declines lol. I guess it works out though since I'm the one documenting everything.

    Do you guys have any regrets not getting the bigger battery?

    • @HeyAshleyRenne
      @HeyAshleyRenne  6 лет назад +1

      Jermaine Babers Sometimes! We don't mind the stops, but moreso don't like arriving at superchargers with below 5% battery lol.

      Ashley Renne: Travel Lushes I’ve been debating on whether or not the bigger battery is worth the extra 20k. The extra 80 or 90 miles of range isn’t worth the 20k price tag. But I like to hear others opinions

    • @HeyAshleyRenne
      @HeyAshleyRenne  6 лет назад +1

      Jermaine Babers Yep, that's exactly why we didn't get it. Yesterday I used the Tesla route planner to see what our route would be in a Model S 100D and it was the same amount of stops. So really the only time we find ourselves wishing we had more range is when we arrive with little battery power. Sometimes our car charges slower when the battery is below 5%.

    Definitely not scenic. Long boring drive. (I live here) it takes 2-3 days just to get out of texas. And my family wonders why we only drive to bama once a year. It's exhausting! If the route was at least had a beautiful scenary that would help

    West Texas isn’t that scenic but rest assured there’s plenty of beautiful places in the Hill Country (Central Texas) and East Texas! Plan another trip to Austin-Fredericksburg-San Antonio!

    This vehicle has a ludacris mode. Would u use it? Really nice job by Government or Elon musk. Definetly reducing the carbon footprint n pollution. Much "needed" in India.

    Step 1: Buy a Tesla.
    Step 2: Start a RUclips channel about Tesla.

    • @HeyAshleyRenne
      @HeyAshleyRenne  6 лет назад +1

      Step 3: Visit RUclipsr's main page to see what the channel is about instead of assuming she created a channel about Tesla.
      Step 4: Subscribe because she's awesome ;-)

    “Texas is NOT SCENIC AT ALL.” Girl, them are some fightin’ words. Texans think that they’re the best state in the world!
