We’re Marianne and Chris, a married couple from the UK. After some life changing events we decided that life was just too short. We sold all our belongings, bought an old Campervan & rented our house to travel full time. The aim is to attempt to visit every country in the world in either our van or with a backpack. We started videoing our travels for our family and then decided it was a wonderful way to document and share our adventures.
Our latest adventure started in January 2020 when we left the UK in an attempt to drive our van all the way around the world. Let the adventures continue.

I have been to Ephesus at least over 10 times....every time we visit Turkey and go to Izmir to my husband’s family they all know that I have to spend a day at Ephesus.....never seen it without a million tourist there.
Sometimes we drive up to The Virgin Mary’s house but for me I get freaked out at driving up that road......
Did you get a chance to see The Seven Sleepers it’s just outside Ephesus...it was a small but had interesting ancient ruins and story.
    Keep them videos coming!!!

    • @ElanurMH
      @ElanurMH 3 года назад +2

Yes The Seven Sleepers, a very interesting story wich you can read in the Bible and Koran.
It is probably the first and only time travel in the history of mankind :-)
Joke aside, some Islamic scholars see it as a proof or an indication that time travel is possible
and could be realized at some point in the future. They also introduce it as evidence of the relativity of time and space

Although we only talk for a couple of minutes but i can tell that you're a warm-hearted and a very lovely person.

What a glorious experience! So much tactile history to explore! It's not every day one gets to visit a place a book of the bible is named after. Wow! Definitely worth getting up early for. Amazing!
Dyson *does* make posh vacuums, but I don't think they'll outlast a library. Sorry, Chris, but it would seem you've been out-gifted! 😉😉
The House of the Virgin Mary looked very serene. A place of wonder, indeed!

I love Ephesus, and really you were so lucky to get it mostly to yourself. When we went it was absolutely packed. Also, Selçuk is a lovely place if you had a chance to walk around.
My only concern now is the admission price for Ephesus, 100TL of course for tourist is nothing. However for local people in general it is very expensive, so for many it takes away their chance to visit these amazing places in their own country.
    Wonderful video as always guys

What a relaxing tour. I was familiar with the amphitheatre and Paul's hometown, but your walk-around and narration brought it to life for me. I'm so pleased they could preserve some of the murals along with the statuary. As a cultural Catholic (my belief system is more open ended as a humanist now) I enjoyed seeing the church of Mary. Hmm, I have to look up how long after the crucifixion the Assumption of Mary bodily into heaven was. And did it happen there? The light was gorgeous, but with all due respect I could have done with less talking about it and just enjoyed it. I'm so glad I'm on this journey with you and Marianne has the most contagious laugh. See you next week.

  • @sukrutan1869

The city of Ephesus began to be disconnected from the sea due to the alluviums carried by the Gediz River at that time. They opened a canal to reconnect it to the sea. But too much alluvium was coming. Everywhere was swampy. Malaria epidemic started. There were too many deaths, so they left the city overnight. One of the signs of this is that the marble piece prepared for the sarcophagus in the marble quarries outside the city was cut with iron piles the day before, but they did not come and get it. If you visit the hillside houses of the rich in the city of Ephesus, you will see that everything remains as it is.

How amazing to have Ephesus to your selves. It is on my bucket list and one day, when Aussie are allowed to leave their country we will get there. For now we have to be content with clogging our own backyard for a while.

Amazing place, great vlog. I have been following your adventures since March but only just had time to look at your Ireland trip, which brought back memories of a week I spent going from Galway round the coast to Dublin around 20 years ago, loved it, then i hear Marianne say she grew up on the Isle of Wight ! which is where I live now. Good luck in your future travels and the aim of driving round the world, I will continue watching with interest.

On the plain just below the road leading to the Virgin Mary Church, there was the part of the Ephesus City Shops. Today it is completely destroyed except for a few shops, but the entire floor is still covered with pieces of items from that period. The city is spread over more areas than you see.

I remember turning a corner and seeing the library and having my breath taken away.I loved the paving stone that advertised the brothel.it had pictures showing a credit card to be used in the brothel and a foot print to say if your foot was bigger than the print you could go in.There was a tunnel between the brothel and the library so that a husband could say to his wife,"Just popping to the library dear."The secretly go to the house of pleasure.
