We’re Marianne and Chris, a married couple from the UK. After some life changing events we decided that life was just too short. We sold all our belongings, bought an old Campervan & rented our house to travel full time. The aim is to attempt to visit every country in the world in either our van or with a backpack. We started videoing our travels for our family and then decided it was a wonderful way to document and share our adventures.
Our latest adventure started in January 2020 when we left the UK in an attempt to drive our van all the way around the world. Let the adventures continue.
Hi everyone - we hope you enjoy our latest video - we sure had a lot of fun filming it and LOVED Canakkale. If you love Turkish food then don't miss our video on the best Turkish Breakfast ruclips.net/video/PrEvm9lacBg/видео.html
Sending you all virtual hugs - Chris & Marianne xx

Yes we are !! ha ha - thank you 🙌💐🚐🇹🇷
I missed my Turkey and Turkish food..you guys are esting lkke Turkish ..🤣🤗🥰🇹🇷🇬🇧
Funny way to put it but you are absolutely right. ;)))
Walnuts are threaded onto string & then dipped into grape molasses .. building up the layers.
It’s called Ceviz (Jeviz) sucuk
Walnut sucuk.
Pestil is pulverised fruit which is spread flat and dried - a good way of preserving fruit out of season.
Thank you for writing this, This gives me nostalgic feeling, remembering beautiful moments with our turkish friends.
Thanks Aysa - I should have called you when we were eating them 🙌💐🌺 Love Marianne xx

Turkish Department of Tourism should definitely promote you guys. They wouldn’t find any better. Much love!!
Thank you ... but if they paid us no one would believe us LOL 🌺🎉🇹🇷🤗
Hi Goodies. I was born in İzmir. My parents are from Adana and during my all 18 years ELT service I visited almost all cities and towns of Turkey to discover the culture, history, geography etc. but especially for the taste. Where you have visited so far I have been there and tasted all your tries, shares, treats. While I watch your experience I remember all taste in my mouth and you are just beginning of the taste journey. Aegean and South East parts of Turkey are another haven of yumminess. Now I am living in Brighton, UK and it is great happiness to have you. Thanks.
Thank you - we are so happy to be able to share ... we have to change our plans a bit due to Covid ... but will try and bring you as much as we can during these tricky travel times !! and there will of course be food !! woo hoo - kind regards Marianne
Turkey surrounded on all sides by the sea and very beautiful country
Hope that other frontier would surrounded by the sea:)
Nah
turkey would be my cheese heaven! when we went there 5 years ago it was about 7tl to a pound, was great value, carnt believe it is 10 now .we found that the best rate was with the green and white ata machine, name escapes me. im a ceramic tiler and most of the tiles sold in the uk are made in turkey, where as years ago they were all italian and spanish.
I wish there were somewhere for us like another turkey:/ but nowhere to go. Its the worst thing being citizen under this economic depression.
So good! I love cheese !! and you are right Turkey has some great ones !!
50 different kinds of cheese are produced in Balıkesir, neighbor to Çanakkale in the Asian part. Book "50 Peynirli Şehir Balıkesir" awarded with International Gourmand Cookbook Award 2019 in dairy products.
Wonderfull Pair, wonderfull Smile Wonderfull Charisma,, please don't drive to another Countrys. Stay please in Turkey. We love u so much
Thank you so much
Thanks a lot new video, so beautiful place....nice food. 😋 Yes I did it, round of Turkey by bus, it works perfectly, wery safety and always very helpful people and not so expensive 😃. Marianne and Chris take care.
Great 👍
Turkish people are very friendly and famous with their hospitality, Turkish food is marvelous and Turkey is a magnificent country that always makes you to want to go back.
Agreed - we have done more than 150 videos in Turkey and everyone is a beauty !!
We love how bike and pedestrian friendly the area near the water is. Turkish food is amazing and we would love to visit this fascinating country!
It really is! Turkey will be waiting for you 🤗🇹🇷🌺
I really like that you speak English in a way that even I who used to grow up with and learned American English am able to understand you very clear. Unfortunately lots of other British RUclipsrs do not seem to care. I also appreciate your habbit to learn at least some basic terms of the language in the country you are in.
Hi Gerd - it is tricky as there are so many regional accents - Chris and I are both from areas that have very mild accents .. so that is why we speak the way we do ... but depending on where you are from it can be a stronger accent for sure 🙌😉💐
Thanks for the night time walk. Trying to persuade my wife to take me Turkey next year. Fingers crossed.
Good luck!
these are pestil and köme. actually same thing but in different shapes. made of first boiled and then dried mullberry or grape -maybe with a little bit of nut or walnut-. it's a specific dessert for Gümüşhane.
though you can find it everywhere in Turkey, sucuk from Gümüşhane is definitely the best !
yeah they are actually turkish sticky grape juice. chef gonna dried them and put some walnuts or hazelnuts inside. MUSKA is a shape. (muska is a black triangle paper, muslims writes some muslim stuff to muskas and they wear like a neckless
We just flew back to Turkey!! Maybe we will get to cross paths with you! Love filming days =AMAZING FOOD!!!!!! Same for us vlog days are fun and yummy days!

Hello again Marianne & Chris :) Hope you are both well... What a great place to visit..( Canakkale is certainly a place we would like to visit).. .And your 3 hours breakfast!!! Do you miss the english breakfast, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, etc? I guess you can still get some sort of english breakfast over there,, Loved the Trojan horse..and the facts you mentioned about the movie. We loved the side streets, and the cafes, shops etc. It was good that we saw what its like after 6pm...a great buzz.Thank you again to both of you for another great show. until the next time, have fun, and Marianne, we hope you will show us the blue flowers inside Trudy!! woo Hoo :) Take care A & D x
Hi Both - thanks for your message ... I (Marianne) am not a big fan of the Big breakfast as I don't eat pork / fish / spicy - so usually just eat mushrooms and scrambled egg !! but Chris loves a big fry up LOL - I am loving the 3 hour breakfast - you don't eat for 3 hours ... just slowly graze and chat and watch the world go by ... you deffo need to come here and try it !! so chilled ... we love it 🙌🤗🚐
Don't forget to eat "Peynir Helvası" while you are in Çanakkale. Sometimes we just go there just to eat it 🙃
😂
Exactly lol
Marianne and Cris, komes are made of grapes.Grapes are boiled within big bowls under fires and when they melt, the walnuts are bound wuth a tread and covered with melted grape sauce.
So much fun watching you two out for a wander! Watching your videos in Turkey, I've gone from knowing very little of the country, to being interested in it, to feeling a genuine pull on my heart to experience the wonderful, amazing landscapes, cuisines, and hospitable people for myself. Such a fascinating place.
Congratulations on another big RUclips milestone! Looking forward to another live chat; you two make them so much fun. ❤😎👍🦅👀
That is awesome! - When you come you and Mrs P should rent a camper and go on an adventure !! woo hoo - m xx
What a lovely video! My husband and I were just there 3 months ago, I love revisiting my favorite places watching you vlogs. Well done Chris, I also love peynir helvası :) Take care guys. Looking forward to your next video.
Thanks so much! 😊
Another great video thanks. I always love coming down through Canakkale on my way back home to Marmaris on my bike from abroad. It`s when I realise i`m back on home turf again.
Nice one!
Maryann, I love that you went down that slide....your walking trip around the city was terrific. When we lived in Sicily we would go on get lost trips, just to see the area and where we would end up. Our kids, now all grown up, still go on their own get lost trips . Great video
Hi Elizabeth - that is great ... getting lost is one of my favourite ways to visit a city ... and that is why I have Chris navigating ... as I tend to get lost driving too !! LOL 🚐😉😂🌺
Tatlı insanlarsınız, topraklarımızda geçen güzel günleriniz ömür boyu devam eder inşallah :)
Thanks that is so kind 🙌💐
Great video again ! As I watch, it just got me like i miss this city. If you come again, It will be a pleasure for me to welcome you in the city and schedule a food trip around the city with you 😂 best regards!
Thank you! Will do!
Canakkale looks lovely. My tummy was rumbling watching you eat all those delicious treats 😋
It was! a fab town indeed 🙌
Another great vlog! But you wouldn't think there was a pandemic going on compared to the Turkey lockdown earlier in the year!! It also looks like you are famous in Turkey!
The decision to stay in Turkey and head to the east when conditions permit is a wise decision from Mariana and Chris, and Turkey is a rich and diverse country and an opportunity to present more about this ancient country, my love for you always.💞😘🌷👍
Thank you Khalid 🌺
Where are you from Khalid?

Wow, thank you
Congrats on reaching 39 K subscribers!!! Loved the vlog and watching all of your Turkey travel adventures. Turkey has been on my bucket list for years, hopefully after this pandemic is over i will get to visit for myself. Cheers :-)

You guys are tasting more Turkish food than I've ever done as a Turk :))) Keep it going guys world needs more of you
Wow, thank you!
The word Köme is a synonym for sucuk or tatlı sucuk(sweet sucuk) all those sticky layers are indeed some forms of dried and processed fruit so yes hard to chew but healthier than the soft stuff we get from supermarkets
My food just arrived and had to select a random video to watch, what's better than Tread the globe 🌐👍
Love that! Thank you Berty !
love the kid at 18:20 the most Turkish reaction to foreigners with cameras XD. Helal Olsun kardesimize

Oh my Gosh, you guys are in my city, my homeland 😍 I am away from my city for a long time, and this video totally has doubled my longing for Canakkale. You are amazing! ☺️

First time I’ve seen you with jackets, mind you it looks colder with all those Grey skies around. But still as beautiful. Hopefully as you head south. It will warm up again. What is the temperature in southern Turkey around Nov, Dec? That was really funny you showing us the trogon horse. We have just watched Troy the movie on the TV. Thanks for sharing stay safe guy’s 👍👍
Fabulous ... we have not seen it yet ... but we will !!
At the seaside mostly not below 15, but there are days as low as 10 in the daytime. Nights are mostly above 7 but there may be nights near zero or slightly below zero.
woooo hooo :))) we love you... Watching you like 30 min meditation.
Yay, thank you!
Brilliant video really enjoyed how you show things and tell us all about it.it so funny we watched this tonight.and we are at the boomerang bar cafe parking.and going across the ferry tomorrow canakkale .
“I love 3 hour breakfast” omg me too! If I am in mood, I cook börek or canapes (with cheese, tomatoes and sausages) for my mom on holidays. 😂
Sounds great!
Glad you two walk a lot, the amount of cheese and sweet stuff you eat, in these times of vivid you brighten my day. Nice to see the child coming out in Marianne going down the fish slide.
Congratulations for 39k subscribers 😍😍 . Stay Blessed & Happy Forever.
Thank you so much 😀
I have the same problem, my glasses are also steaming up, especially when the weather is cold, in summer I didn't have that problem although I was wearing a mask. Pestil is made out of dried fruit pulps.
@Someone Unknown Man, I do the same why doesn't it work :(
I've heard staff in operating theatres wash their glasses in dishwashing liquid and that does the trick???
A wonderful video as always, I love Çanakkale, such a lovely city and lovely people, as all Turkey has. Shame you didn't get to go in the Naval museum, it was wonderful.
Uff, you make me want to visit there again 😊
Maybe one day! 😂😉💐
I was surprised when I watch your video. I live in canakkale for 3 years but I don't know ÇANAKKALE as well as you. Brilliant guys
Thank you very much!
I'm planning a trip to Turkey for this sommer and your videos are very useful! Thanks! Cheers from Switzerland!

We call it pestil in Turkish. It is made from mulberry or grape juice. It is walnut in it. It's my favorite snack. It is also very healthy.

Hey guys, perfect video again.
The thing you guys ate is some kind of fruit leathers. They are providing sooo much energy for the body. Also healthy snack with a cup of tea or coffee. Love from İstanbul.
Good to know - thank you
heeeyyyy I'm from Çanakkale. I wanted to say that I love energy and the video :))))
Yay! Thank you!
The name of the food with walnuts is "cezerye", Made from carrots, granulated sugar, walnuts and coconut. Common dessert type in Mersin region. It takes its name from the word (Cezer; جزر), which means carrot in Arabic.
Thanks for sharing 🌺
We call those long ones sucuk . It is spelled the same as a type of meat so you might want to say cevizli sucuk to be spesific. Pestil is the thin and layered version ,it is made of fruits such as grapes and mulberry. They smash the fruits then fill them with nuts and walnuts.
Thank you for the information 💐🌺
amazing amazing thanks for this wonderful video
Thank you too
Hi Guys, how are you ? First of all, congratulations on reaching 39,000 subscribers. Another great vlog as always .
I just wanted to know if you have tried eating simit with kaymak and honey together for breakfast. its the best ( kaymak is like a turkish clotted cream ) . Also you should try the hot drink Salep. it taste likes xmas in your mouth. salep is made from orchids

Congrats on the 39k!! 😘
Love how many times Marianne says "Why not?" to Chris in this video. As always, you guys have the best attitude and enjoying it all.
They really are so delightful together!
Thanks so much!!
Pestil: It is made from grape or mulberry molasses. It is dried by spreading thinly over a wide area. It is then folded over. Including hazelnuts, walnuts, etc. can also be placed.
Köme: It is made with pekmez(grape molasses), wheat starch and walnuts.
Pekmez(Grape Molasses): Grape juice that has been boiled for a very long time.
Most of the grape juice evaporates, its sugar caramelizes. It becomes syrupy. It is mostly eaten with tahini. It is also used instead of sugar in desserts. Wheat starch is added to molasses while making kome and it thickens but still becomes fluid. Walnuts lined up on a string are dipped in a mixture of molasses, which is still hot and fluid, and starch and left to dry by hanging.
I miss my hometown! Thank you for visiting Canakkale. You guys are awesome!
Thank you too!
Hoş Geldiniz..... Türkiye mize.....I love you....Well Came.... Sevgiler Saygılar.....
*Hi Trudy and Chris ~ Those brown nutty things you wondered are called SUJUK >>> made from boiling condensed grape juice outside while dipping in strings of wall nuts ... After a few times of dipping and cooling the condense grape juice, it sticks on the wallnuts which were on a string - You have it in UK nowadays same but a smaller imported version ... Well taste as much as originals you can very tasty for sure... As to the GOZLEME I havent met any one who doesnt like it ... Again you have it in UK called wrap - just place in a frying pan . a little butter turn it few times put some Cheddar in > perfect in 5 minutes ... Cigarette Borek is more elaborate but very very light and tasty ~ You buy the sheets of pastery called YUFKA they have it in ethnic shops now some Polskie Khelb's sell it as well not that expensive about 3 ~ 4 30+ cm diameter sheets rolled up and packaged may be £3+ ...When you open the package you will see its a circle shaped put all on top of each other you divide the circle into 8 equal pieces of triangles ... Filling is White cheese or called Combi in UK and finely chopped Parsley = mix them in a dish and put a little on the pastry triangles base and roll till the end and stick the end with a little water ... After that you can either deep fry direct or put in a fridge for laters in a shallow oil ... both methods are very nice ... One thing ... Though simple it takes an hr to prepare So best do a lot and stick the remaining in the fridge ... Ideal for breakfasts*
*Hi again Canakkale has changed a lot since early 90s more organised & maintained Thought Brad Pitts Horse was in Troy but obviously not .. What happened to the one in Troy ~ I guess we will have to wait your next episode ... Till then enjoyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy* as we are having lovely British Weather here ... *
Thanks - we will have to try that !!
it was a nice tour, in the near future i will visit Canakkale and some of the shops you have visited . GREAT JOB!!!!
Thank you

14:40 It caaled "cevizli sucuk" made from grape pulp and walnut inside of it.
You are amazing we love your energy very much:)
Wow, thank you 🙌
Great video, great food!
Once again...yet another extremely outstanding video, where you guys illustrate how wonderful it is for us to travel. A tip to Chris for the misting up of his glasses while wearing a mask. He could either go to an optician and purchase expensive lens fluid that would solve this problem....or he could just go down a cheaper route by just cleaning his glass lenses with ordinary soapy water or by just placing a single piece of folded toilet paper between the inside of the mask and the bridge of his nose. I find this rather effective and easy. Good luck Chris.
That is amazing ... I will pass that tip on and he will be going for the cheaper one LOL !! - thanks for the tip !! M
really sad that the marine musuem was closed... i was there two times... hope you will also see it one day.

Those sweets are called uzum sucugu which made of natural grape's syrup and walnuts ( no artificial)needs lots of time and effort to make it.
Thanks for the info!
I was hoping you would get the exact cup/mug you did! Thats the one I would have bought as well !
I love them and use them every time we stop and work at weekends !! woo hoo
Muska is a triangle shaped mostly made from leather and is hanged on the clothes or on the neck, which inside cotains religious writings in it, that are believed that it protects you from bad things and illnesses. If you are a boy and go to army your mom gives you one. Nowadays top models use it as a fashion item.
The shape of the sweet is like muska so it is called muska the sweet.🍭
Love from North Cyprus ❤️❤️
