EASY! How to fix a broken or worn window switch in a W205 Mercedes C Class C300, C43, C63

- Expand for Full Description and Links: Is your window switch not working? Broken or worn? These switches tend to get brittle with age and break or start to peel and fall apart. Here is a very short video showing the easiest way to remove the old drivers side window switch and replace it with a new one.
I purchased a replacements for $50-60 on Amazon they were great quality. I also found some less expensive options in the $30 range. Links Below:

Thanks for sharing this! Was able to replace the window switch unit on my 2018 GLC 300 in less than 15 min. It’s really ,really easy to perform this swap out. I am a Mercedes fanboy since my father’s 1971 200D /8, and have never seen any Mercedes part being as poorly designed as this unit. It’s a shame they do not replace this for free. My second car is now an Audi. Choose not to go for Mercedes this time. Between this and the ripped leather seat in a less than 6 year old car with little mileage, it’s just not justifiable to pay so much for what used to be a great quilt brand.
Thanks for watching! I agree with you on the quality. Ever since MB Merged with Chrysler the quality has not been the same. Even though Daimler and Chrysler are no longer one (since 2007) MB hasn't been the same after going though those changes.

Both switches for raising the rear windows on my C class broke (the car is 4 years old and has traveled 50k km / 31k miles), the authorized service gave me an offer for €230... This is a very useful video. Thank you so much for that. I got the switch for a c200 and prying tools from Amazon, and in ~10 minutes, it's done. It was very satisfying.
Getting the switch and the prying tools for the C200 in India wasn't easy. It took time to arrive; however, the switch is very good. The prying tools weren't as effective after the first replacement. They almost failed me when I tried to use them again for the passenger side door's single switch.

Thank you so much for posting this video. My window button broke last week while on vacation. I took it to the local dealer yesterday and they quoted me a total price of $577 to fix this problem. I was so annoyed. I told the service advisor that I could do it myself because I watch RUclips videos. He said, “go ahead and try but come back and we will reset the windows if needed, but we will still have to charge you the price for labor to reset the window.” The switch itself cost $232., the labor $345. I immediately ordered the part and tools on Amazon, and I watched your video over and over. I just got the parts and installed it exactly as you did. It works and I don’t have to reset the windows. I would’ve reset them myself anyways. I hate that Mercedes Benz charges for such an important safety component of the vehicle. If this happens so often, it should be an automatic free change, as if it were recalled. I don’t understand how this is not changed for free or at least at a reasonable cost. Thanks again 😊

This hw to video is a true lifesaver!! I just purchased my MB C300 and the driver/passenger switch broke immediately no more than 15mins after driving the vehicle of the lot. Thank goodness my dealership had no issues sourcing the part at no cost to myself. I had called MB to see about purchasing and they quoted me close to $400, NOT including labor 😱😱🤬🤬 Absolutely ridiculous!!!!! I knew it wasn't difficult to do and am looking forward to doing this myself..

Thank you so much!!! Watched your video like 20 times... bought a switch off ebay for my C43 and an interior pry tool kit on Amazon and fixed it in 15 minutes! I didn't remove the silver bezel which saved me some time. You saved me hundreds of dollars (Mercedes dealership charges C$200/hr for labor these days). Didn't have to reset the window and auto up/down functions worked right away.

You can leave the (silver) bezel on, just remove the complete unit from the top. Afterwards you can replace the unit without removing the bezel.
Test before placing back. Bottom first.
Yes, you can, but removing the bezel makes it easier and less chance of breaking anything.

Maybe, but its easy and cheap to replace the unit.
I would like to see how to remove whole joystick and buttons near the shifter on C klass with Manual transmission,cause I have new central console to replace that piano sh black but all stuff is integrated inside it.

It’s cheap enough just to replace the set. Others will eventually fail as well.
I'm assuming the process would be similar on the W169?

My switch is broken and the driver window goes up and down unprovoked lol. If I replace the switch will I need to have my window reset and if so how do I reset it?
We didn’t need to reset anything. Just unplugged the old switch cluster and replaced with the new.

1. Removing the silver bezel first just makes it easier. Its best not to cut corners. Things get broken that way.
2. Why replace one button, when more than likely, the others will break soon as well. Just replace the whole unit. Its easier, and Its cheap!

This was far harder approach than simply replacing the two buttons. I used another RUclips video to order and replace the buttons and not pull out entire control panel.
@@mariapeacock8414 thanks for the comment. I’m more of a “fix it right the first time” kind of guy so understanding that the buttons failed due to age, heat, etc, I was proactive in replacing the unit to prevent future failures. The plastic becomes brittle over time. It’s cheap and easy to pop in a new unit. Not sure why you found it difficult.
really junk that Mercedes uses. All window switches of my Mercedes C180 2021 have already broken.
