Dues this method work with 2020 gla Mercedes at all ? I can’t find replacement switches only for 2020 up so it’s weird

Yes, you can. Unfortunately, I don't know where you will get a place that offers the replacement buttons alone. Most will be selling the entire switch.

I did not buy new ones. I got a used one from another donor car.

They are buttons responsible for opening and closing rear quarter side vent windows. The windows located in your car trunk area.
