2002 Black Big Beat - Big Sound From Legendary DNA
Paiste announces the launch of the 2002 Black Big Beat, coinciding with the 45th anniversary of the legendary 2002 series.
Big Beat cymbals are available in 18", 19", 20", 21", 22" and 24" singles, and 15" and 16" pairs. The set represents a modernized, yet timeless interpretation of the celebrated 2002 sound.
Visually, the cymbals feature a distinctly new hammering pattern for the 2002 family, a slightly darkened, semi-matted finish and simplified black logos to distinguish the Big Beat set.
In terms of sound, the cymbals are rooted in the world of 2002 Alloy, with its celebrated brilliance, clarity, precision and strength. Big Beat models add particular warmth, depth and complexity to the mix. They are perfect for broad, voluminous sound without being overly aggressive.
The individual cymbals are designed to be multifunctional and work well across the range as both crashes and rides. Despite their sizes, the cymbals feature excellent manageability and well controllable decay. Warm luscious crashes, an airy, defined ping over a wide multi-layered wash, and broad, musical bells are the hallmarks of the Big Beat singles. The Hi-Hat pairs feature a broad stick over a fat, wet open sound and a rich pronounced chick.
With the 2002 Black Big Beat models, Paiste takes the 2002 sound into a new realm, while preserving the legendary 2002 heritage. Live or studio, these cymbals are decidedly multi-musical, well suited for a wide range of applications.
2002s are entirely made by hand in Switzerland using traditional methods that have remained unchanged in over half a century.

The idea and concept behind the 2002 Big Beat was to give a classic a revised sound, just like Paiste did with the Formula 602 Modern Essentials, which is derived from the original Formula 602's.. There's a slight more decay and controlled wash about the cymbal, making it less overbearing than the original 2002's. As a Paiste user for the past 24 years, i personally love the vintage black and brown label 404 and 505's.. They give you the same sound only they're a lot thinner, which makes for a warmer, darker sound.. My vintage 404 and 505's would give the Signature Traditionals a run for their money.. ;)
Thanks Paiste, for making some of THE best sounding, and affordable vintage cymbal lines ever. Bring them back, and you'll see what the reaction will be..
It'll be overwhelmingly positive and of course, tremendously successful..

The 2oo2 line in general is by far my favorite whether it's the 2oo2 70's reissue or the actual original 70's 2oo2 or even the red label 2oo2 and now the beautiful buttery Big Beat 2oo2. All in all completely awesome!!! My favorite!!! 😘💯

I was a Zildjian guy for a long time..... but then I made the switch and I’m never looking back. Paiste is the most consistent cymbal company in the world. I have the 15” hats, 18” and 24”, hopefully getting the 20” soon. I recommend if possible you check them out. Keep on rocking’!🤘🏻

+Limedrum --I'm sure they'd sound great.. The cymbal line that Paiste has which is best suited for recording are the Formula 602 and 2002 originals, and Giant Beat..
