2002 Black Big Beat - Big Sound From Legendary DNA
Paiste announces the launch of the 2002 Black Big Beat, coinciding with the 45th anniversary of the legendary 2002 series.
Big Beat cymbals are available in 18", 19", 20", 21", 22" and 24" singles, and 15" and 16" pairs. The set represents a modernized, yet timeless interpretation of the celebrated 2002 sound.
Visually, the cymbals feature a distinctly new hammering pattern for the 2002 family, a slightly darkened, semi-matted finish and simplified black logos to distinguish the Big Beat set.
In terms of sound, the cymbals are rooted in the world of 2002 Alloy, with its celebrated brilliance, clarity, precision and strength. Big Beat models add particular warmth, depth and complexity to the mix. They are perfect for broad, voluminous sound without being overly aggressive.
The individual cymbals are designed to be multifunctional and work well across the range as both crashes and rides. Despite their sizes, the cymbals feature excellent manageability and well controllable decay. Warm luscious crashes, an airy, defined ping over a wide multi-layered wash, and broad, musical bells are the hallmarks of the Big Beat singles. The Hi-Hat pairs feature a broad stick over a fat, wet open sound and a rich pronounced chick.
With the 2002 Black Big Beat models, Paiste takes the 2002 sound into a new realm, while preserving the legendary 2002 heritage. Live or studio, these cymbals are decidedly multi-musical, well suited for a wide range of applications.
2002s are entirely made by hand in Switzerland using traditional methods that have remained unchanged in over half a century.

I can hear the cymblas so clearly, thanks for the very well done sample. Great job
Literally my favorite cymbals ever. Just beautiful!!
paiste just the best what else can be said
pretty slick beginning of the video when he brought out the cymbal. nice song behind it too.
Now 3 super versatile lines. Dark energy, 602 modern, and these. All distinct, all amazing and each shines a bit more in one area than another.
Awesome video editing!!!!
+João De Paula Thanks :)
Wow, this amaizing sound, I love this paiste 2002 cymbal series. Great music power sound. :D:D Ride have a powerfull bell, crashe's are lovely sound. I love this cymbals.
BIGGER the Better!
every share souds like shit with that Remo head. IMO
+Besne Ptice
Yeah. A Powerstroke 3 is not a good choice for a snare drum head.
This is the wash/wall of sound am looking for. Great stick definition too. :)
These cymbals are amazing. Great look and great sound.
No likes enough!!! I’m sold!!! Big beats right up next on the list!!!!!!!!
Polak potrafi :)
Holy crap, I want that snare sound.
Manuel Campins
You can have it, everyone else hates it.
How to get:
Take the oldest, trashiest drumhead you have and tune it up and tune all screws to different tones. Then muffle the hell out of it and do the same with the reso head except you tune it quite low. Your snare will sound like shit now.
Those 16 hi hats sound so good open. Huge wash
Definitely Paiste is The Cymbal!! Awesome and helpfull video, dream cymbal set!!!
MAJESTIC
I love the paiste´s sound
18 and 19 is good
I can't decide if I want this 19" or the 602 or the 2002. I go back and forth...
Could you do this with the rudes and the modern essentials?
nice video :-)
How do they make B8 sound better than some others B20?
DrumRoody That is only alloy, B20 is not better than B8 or B10, B12.. B20 is for high end because other companies didn't know how to create good cymbal with B8 alloy.
paiste honestly gets away with making their b8 cymbals pretty damn overpriced, take the rude series for example, b8 is an industrial material that is very easy to come by and produce, and some of the crashes are like 300$ and i mean there's not really anything groundbreaking about them
@@DavidGamero they're made in Switzerland, meaning labour, which is almost certainly the majority of the cost of making them, is expensive.
David Gamero I don't know what they charge in Europe or Asia? But being an import item most places definitely spikes that price tag. They do sound great? I've owned a couple of them, 2002 "16 and a "20 Signature Full Ride before? I remember being soo upset cause I cracked that "16 bad after only? Maybe 3 months use? Couple rehearsals a week? I paid $160 for that crash in the late '90's. And when one cracks a B8 alloy? It's completely unusable anymore. Done. I've cracked B20's that yeah, weren't sounding as good anymore? But Still sounded good enough for a local bar gig! Ha! Can't get a B8 to pull that. B20 will still hold most it's tone with an inch crack? B8? It's fuckin' done!
Yeah ok "16 what do ya expect right? I've owned "16 B20's that lasted YEARS with heavy use. I had an "18 medium- thin that I realized I had been playing for 10 friggin' years be the time it started dying the breakage death. It sounded Soo Good. "18 A medium- thin. Plenty loud for clubs and bars, I could use it for regular Pop-Rock, Electronic music And Fuckin' Death Metal! It worked for everything. Rudes got some great sounds? I like the newer 'Thin Rudes'( their still medium weight), but they're not quite Soo versatile.
IDK if its the camera angle or what but the size difference between the 18 and 19 looks huge.
I buy on average a pAisTe cymbal every month. My latest addition was a 20 inch formula 602 medium ride.
Now that 19 crash is on my MUST have list.
Edit.... Well 3 years later, I have All the Big Beats. And Doubles of the 18 19 20.
And after doing the Math, I've averaged a Cymbal A WEEK for 3 years and 4 Months.
(Got 5 Dimensions & a Signature DarkDry coming next week)
pAisTe-4-Life 🤘
Well it took 2 years. BUT Today I bought the 19 AND 22.
They are AWESOME
@@jasperjenkins7729 Those are nice cymbals. The 602 are where I’d start if I ever started a Paiste collection. I’m so use to Sabian and Zildjian’s the regular 2002 crashes sit a bit too high in the mix for my ears. I think I prefer the Signature lines and 602 Modern Essentials. Do you have 24 new Paiste cymbals in your collection since your first post?
@@Assimilator702 oddly No. I've got TONS of pAisTe but not 1 Single 24 of Any Series.
Not Against it, just hasn't Happened.
You're Making a GREAT Choice with the Modern Essentials 602s 🏆
@@jasperjenkins7729 I meant 24 new cymbals in the past 2 years. That’s one cymbal per month.
@@Assimilator702 oh Hell, WAY MORE than 24. 2 months ago I got 5 in 1 Day.
17 18 19 2oo2 Thin Crashes, a GigaBell Ride & 14 5o5. I Stopped counting cymbals at around 200ish. Can't get em All together because I have 15 Drumsets too. Got a Drumset last week and had to take em out of the boxes on the front porch because I couldn't get the boxes thru the front door because of other drumsets in the Way.
It's Ridiculous😜
Now that you played them, can you send them to me?
Seriously, tho, thinking of either the 22 or 24 in a jazz/pop setting. Any preference?
I just watched a comparison between 2002 series vs Gant Beats. Are the big beats different than the giant beats and if so what is the main difference? Would like to see a comparison between the 2202s and the big beats.
Hello Steve, the 2002 Big Beats have a deep and warm sound with a quick decay. The Giant beats have a dark and washier sound with more stick definition and brilliance.
I just upgraded to these. I had PST8's which I loved, but these are definitely on another level. The only cymbal I didn't care for was the 24", but that is most likely because I don't care for light rides. I like a heavier ride sound. So I switched it out for a 24" classic 2002. So I'm very inspired by my cymbal set up now. I just did a recording if you want to hear how they sound mixed in a rock environment. ruclips.net/video/Msv6Y2upLMI/видео.html
I love that 24”...... please give me one paiste
Interesting room treatment.
prato muito top eheheh👏👏👏👏👌
Cymbals sound excellent, however the snare sounded terrible.
A Remao PS3 is never a good choice as a snare head.
It's what I use and it sounds excellent, that's why I commented, because I know how good those heads can sound.
***** Ok, but as you see, they extra-muffled the snare with moongel. Also the bottom head was probably tuned pretty low which makes the resonance of the snare very short, and most low tuned snares i've heard didn't sound too good anyway.
No, I agree. They tend to sound lifeless. Fair enough this is a cymbal video but it's still used so i'll still make a comment on it haha.
I agree.. I have a 6.5x14 steel free floating Pearl.. It's the only head that it likes, and it sounds badass.. I tune it med low to med high and it has great body and plenty of high mids... I love it.
Paiste, name of the intro song plz!?
Why is the audio left-right reversed?
Why does the 19 sound lower pitched than the 20 and 21???
John Michael Halbig ... Because the thickness
Why putting this up as a review if it's not????? Stuff like this drives me nuts...
polish drummers trendy hairstyle
DrummerVL800 lol I'm Polish.
they all sounded just the same even the hats and ride..crash wise.
not to be rude, but they all had different sounds and each were excellent..
nice, how can you not have a china?!!
Chris Myers
Because they don't make one, as well as splashes.
tirando o hi heat nao curti o som desses pratos
Great company- but these are so washy!
Ага, продам почку и куплю комплект
Eventhough Paiste has stepped it up a notch, they are still B8 cymbals, and that really holds most people back from buying them. B20 is just superior over B8 any day
jobje325
Except if it is Paiste. These cymbals sound (imo) better than many B20 cymbals do.
Paiste keeps with B8 because it has such a unique sound that they've gotten many successful diverse sound versions out of their cymbals . IMHO PAisTe B8 sounds better for my live playing than my B20 cymbals..
I play in a classic rock cover band. Every time I hit my large size 2oo2's, they sound EXACTLY as on those records!
Strongly disagree. B20 is just DIFFERENT, not better. Lower pitch, less cutting than B8.
ride is killer, snare is so bad and damfed
Not a fan of the hats but recently got a 24". I absolutely love it
