the length of these videos determines how long i stay in the bathroom. this one was rough. I loved every second, but I can't wait to feel my legs again.

Thanks for doing that!!
Thanks man 👌
cheers
This was AWESOME, I missed the sound creations though!!! Those were the absolute shit. Of course it is still really appreciated that you did this. Thank you!
Dig it
I just noticed that the panning changes from drummers perspective to cameras perspective depending on which camera we are viewing the kit from and I just got to say that’s a fun little touch
It's all in the details!
No matter what video they pop up in, the Signature Series gets me every time.
I've been a Zildjian guy since 1989. My 13in K/Z hats have been to hell & back with me. However my 13in Paiste Alpha hats had a special place in my heart. I've played all the series and how I came to love the PST5 14in hats I can't comprehend. Saying thank you doesn't do you guys Justice. The time, effort and care you took to make this comparison video is appreciated by all. BEST DRUMMERS CHANNEL IN EXISTENCE!
Reading comments like this makes all the effort worth it. Thank you, Bobby.
My favorite channel also..No one else even comes close.
I'm not a drummer; I'm just a music-lover (and information junkie) at home under lockdown. This was very entertaining and informative! I had no idea the subject of cymbals was so complex. Great video - thank you for making and posting it!
Very cool, glad that you liked it!
and this is only one brand!!!
Simply the best Paiste cymbals demo I ever heard and ever seen , best of the best 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks Luc!
Best cymbal demo ever!! PAISTE got it figured out. I have the 2002 line, they are the most musical cymbal ever. I could be wrong I'm not a professional drummer just a truck driver. Outstanding video!! Thank you.
I'm biased but the Signatures are glorious. In the end though, can you really go wrong with any of these? Best video to date by far. I can only imagine how long that must have taken but what a treat for the eyes and ears! Rock on, DCP! 🤘🏼
thanks, kevin.
I own a dozen Paiste cymbals from various series and Signature/Dark Energy are by far my favourites. Fantastic sound and they seem the most versatile to me. Thanks Drum Center of Portsmouth for excellent comparison video!
I remember what my friends said, if u want to buy Paiste u dont have to visit drum store, u can buy online and you will get exactly the same sound like u heard in video. They always consistent about the sound.
This.
Exactly why I play them! The consistency is the best in the industry.
that is true god forbid you damage your sweet 2002 paper thin crash, another awaits with exact same sound and volume if your technique does not change,or choice of sticks is perfectly matched to style, height and whether guitarist in the band has a marshall stack or not.ask drum guys at guitar center if they have any prototype paiste behind counter, these save alot of money but are one of a kind that cannot be easily replaced as paiste cymbals go.
Yes they are VERY consistent.
But I've Listened to a FEW audio clips before buying and at home they sound different.
Example:
21 Masters Medium
2oo2 22 inch Crash
Signature 19 Power.
I still Love them but the Recordings do make them Sound Different.
(Clear-er)
Just My 2 Cents.
Now you sound just like everyone else with those same cymbals. Perfect sounding but nothing unique between them. I like that my 19" K Custom sounds different than my other 19" K Custom.
One of the best if not the best
cymbal demonstration I've ever seen. So informative. Thank you very much for that.
Longtime Paiste fan! Finally got ahold of my first Signature cymbal, the 6 inch splash! NOTHING has a more silverly sound than the Signature line. Pretty pumped to replace my PST5 crashes with those when the time comes! :D
not a huge fan of Paiste but I DO like the signature series. To me they sound better across the board compared to the others.
Neither was I until I bought a used set of Paiste symbols online, I got lucky and found a 16 17 18 and a 20-inch ride for $250 on Craigslist. Very Musical and not just noise.
Sigs nice, 602s even better imo
Gotta be the Signature series. Sweet sound.
I've tried everything out there. My going to the grave, here's an heirloom set sonny sets are:
Masters
15" Dark Hats
20" Dark Crash
22" Dark Ride
22" Dark Crash/Ride
Traditionals
15" Medium Light Hats
20" Thin Crash
20" Light Ride
22" Light Ride
...and a pair of 15" 602 Modern Essentials hats (Shane you're right).
Excellent video! I'm a pst7 guy, own 2 sets. 1 stays at home on my practice set. The other stays at church. Always wondered how the pst7 compared to the higher end cymbals. Now I know!
hahahah the wuhan shirt on Bonham "NO!"
This is an epic comparison. Have always loved Paiste. The 602s and MEs are my favorites, but I celebrate the existence of each and every (pro) line. And yeah, those 15" ME hats are wonderful. I'm not sure I would refer to them as "chocolatey" (huh, Vinnie?), but they sure are delicious.
I have been looking for something like this for such a longtime that wasn't just a cymbal shootout/Paiste style hilight video. Thank you SO much!!!
very very hugs to the whole team at Drum 🥁 Center and Paiste Cymbals....👏😂🤙
Right back at you, Reginaldo!
Thank you for mentioning Jeff Porcaro. A true legendary drummer too. RIP
Great video! When he threw the stick my heart skipped a beat hahaha
Great work as always, guys. I know this is a marketing tool, but it's also a labor of love. These cymbals all sound great.
Total labor of love!
Never EVER, in a million years will I sell my Signature dark energy 22" ride (mK II) EVER. Bonus, it was played by JR Robinson at a masterclass when I worked at L&M; I heard it. I needed it. I bought it. I play it.
This is the BEST comparison video with Paiste Cymbals , thank you guys... I really Appreciate your effort !!! My best regards to you...
That means a lot to us. Thank you, El Zurdo!
Thanks for the hard work to bring us such a wonderful vídeo material. Guys! You know stuff. I dont live in the US, but since i met you through RUclips, New Hampshire "appeared in the map" and next time i go to North América, i'll sure make a stop in NH to pass by the shop and buy something. After pandemics stuff and all ... Keep the good work . Drumming is everything. Thank you.
We appreciate the kind words, and look forward to meeting you someday! We think it's worth the trip. Thanks for watching.
@@drumcenternh Guys, by the way, i'll coment something here, (that is not so open) which i had suspected the first time i came across the 900 series...they sound a lot like the pst5s...for me they are under the pst7 by far...
I do not even play drums, but I love watching your videos.
I still reference this video all the time, so very well done! Much appreciated!!! Found you guys on Reverb recently, hope I can come see the shop in person one day!
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you guys so much for this comparison. Makes it so easy to see which line I like the most. For me it’s giant beat.
I really appreciate the time you guys took to make this video 👍
thank you.
Signature Traditional crashes for me, dark energy hi hats and a 22 masters dark ride.... Those are my favourites. Paiste make fabulous cymbals, they record brilliant as well :)
Very good choices!!
I’m playing exactly this, great combo
Agree wholeheartedly with Shane that the 15” ME hats are the best hats I have ever owned and played. Extremely versatile and crisp!
Please, dear lord, tell me you guys are gonna do these kinds of videos for other companies too. Had a series like this been out when I was in the market, not only would I have shed a tear of joy, but I would also have immediately bought all of the gear from you guys in appreciation. Thanks for helping me discover your amazing channel!
This is not criticism so please do not take it as such. I enjoyed this review and you added alot of great asides of information about the history and development of Paiste which I loved. I own the Dark Crisp Hats, and several other cymbals from the Signature line. I just, have not seen a drummer look less..comfortable when playing. The tempo is all over the place and I dunno just seems like you dont want to be playing. Also, the drums are way WAY below your center of gravity. It just looked uncomfortable to watch and I feel like it affected the playing.
THIS IS PERFECT !!!! - THANK YOU !!! - Paiste (2002) Cymbals have been my favorite since 1982. With so many lines since then, this type of comprehensive video comparison is AWESOME !!! (If Paiste ever releases a "low volume" line of cymbals, I'm done trying to decide which ones to buy :D )
Glad you enjoyed it!
WOW, great compilation! i must go to toilet but i cant go, because all these cymbals sound so great so i cant stop this video :D
Nice job guys!

Though DCP does the BEST video presentations IMHO, another wonderful thing about Paiste cymbals that I really didn't hear mentioned is their consistency. You can literally take any three Paiste cymbals of the same series, size and weight (designation) and two of them will likely be so close in sound as to be pretty much identical twins and the third cymbal might have a little different pitch than the other two, but will be so close that the difference is negligible. I worked at a well-known "chain" music retailer for just over two years and we actually tested this with Paistes and time after time after time we found the consistency in sound to be absolutely unbelievable. Vinnie Colaiuta mentioned this when he became a Paiste 602 endorser. He no longer has to drag a cymbal vault around as he travels from one gig to another. He merely has to stop by the local Paiste retailer and pick up an identically sized set of 602s and he can be assured that they will sound virtually the same as the 602s that he has at "home." Paistes are generally higher priced than many of their competitors, but this consistency helps to justify the expenditure. If you break your 16" Signature Fast Crash (or it comes up "missing"), when you go to replace it you can be assured that the new one will sound almost identical to the broken or "missing" one. I'm not sure that any other cymbal company has such consistency of product. I do wish; however, that you had included the Paiste Signature Precision line. I very much like my Precision SE hats and they do have a bit different sound than the regular Signature ones.
I have 2 Paistes: 2002 18 Crash and a RUDE 18 China and I love that Sounds!!❤️🥁
I am a Japanese drummer. I love Paiste. Your video will be very helpful.
Cheers!
Great video.... you guys are a huge help with these product comparisons....thanks!
My favorites...
15" Dark Energy Hi Hats
20" Modern Essentials Crash
22" Big Beat Multi/Ride
EXCELLENT combo.
Thanks for the extensive comparison guys! Very enjoyable. 🥇 Original Signature Series...but RUDE series was ahead of its time, for metal. Those chinas!! . Stay safe :)
Beautiful playing while showing off the big beat in particular
I have 2002s and Sigs. Those Big Beats sound incredible!
Thanks for giving history, chronology and overview of all the Paiste cymbal lines. Very useful. I’ve played 2002, 505 and had a fantastic Sound Creation Dark Ride 22” about 30 years ago. Now I’m starting again and am amazed by the Signature, Signature Traditionals and 602 ME. Thanks for a really great review. Greetings from a subscribing Swedish 🇸🇪 drummer. Best drum channel.
Another superbly produced video, guys!
Thank you!!
Appreciate all the work you put into this video fellas.
I really like the Signature Dark Energy and the 602's .
Hey Shane , you're right mate those hats are nice !
Thanks again 👍
First time hearing the signature dark energy crashes . Sounded great
Giant Beats, 2002s and 602 ME for me! Thanks for making this video!
Thanks for watching, and taking the time to comment!
Thank you so much for this video! Extremely informative! I have a lot of cymbals (most of them Paiste) already, but I now believe that I need the 19" Dark Energy crash and the 20" Signature Full crash...
Thank you so much for watching! I own both of those cymbals, and they are GORGEOUS.
I can't imagine how long it took to edit this video. BTW, GREAT comparison video!
It took an obscene amount of time, but at least the subject was something I love! Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback, Greg.
ok, so now I know what these cymbals would sound like if you would play them with a band like the Foo Fighters. With cymbals like the 602's, Dark Energy, Giant Beat, Big Beat, Traditionals, I wish you had a guy with a lighter touch testing them, whe're not all only interested in how they would sound in loud rock ...
Impressed by 900
Thanks so much for this. Was a huge amount of work for you guys to do this, and you did an excellent job. I have been a loyal Paiste fan for decades. This video made me appreciate some of the series I have not tried. However, as many have said, the ONLY downside of Paiste is the $$$. My MANY Paiste purchases (most have been Signature) have been a bit painful to afford.. only broken a few, but always expensive to replace. But, man, do I love them. :-)
Our pleasure and there is so much to love in the Paiste line-up!
This was such amazing work!
I thank you so much for making these comparisons. They are huge help for us all. 😊 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Those RUDE crashes sounded great!
The effort you guys put into comparisons like this is incredible. Love my Paiste’s including my 15” 602ME hi-hats.... 100% agree with your verdict on those Shane! 👍😀 I’m in the UK so not realistic to shop there but will pay you a visit if I’m ever Stateside.
Cheers, Angus. Thanks for watching, hope to meet you someday!
Thank you D.C.P for this amazing video!
Thank you for watching it!
for me it's the 2002's. The 18" crash might be the best crash out there, it's just perfect!
Just ordered my first ever set of cymbals, a Paiste 900. Shame I couldn't get a colorsound version (Argentina's customs suck). Amazing video (and the sonor kit... OMG). Thank you guys!!!
Paiste 900s are great
Good call on Toto, too. Earlier this week on a drive, heard Rosanna by Toto on Jack FM I think. Hadn't heard it in full in years, but the brightness of the cymbals are great in that song, especially at the beginning.
Coming to you in May 2022 this Paiste line demo convinced me or my ear that Paiste contributes tremendously to my sound. Picking up the Signature Dark Energy (Rob "Beatdown Brown)line when I come through, can't wait!
Best cymbal vid ever. Thank you Been a 2002 fan since 1982 and the Rude for those metal covers. Great thx again..
thanks for watching!
I play Rudes. I have one Signature, the Duo Ride. Fantastic. DCP had what the others did not, in stock. Paiste has always been it for me, from the old recordings, to my own. They truly own the frequencies. I went back to Rudes from old records. They record wonderfully. Synchronicity by the Police is an album with a lot of Rudes. A 14" crash/ride is a special order but Paiste will make one. A 17" crash/ride is truly a versatile cymbal. Light ride to smashy smashy. Don't be afraid, kids. East coast cymbals are made by machines: SKYNET. Robots making cymbals, people making money.
This is the best Video i have seen in ages. This is what Paiste needs to do. Meinl is killing it with their marketing.
To the person that said these videos are watched in the bathroom. 😂 TRUTH. I also have numb legs. Lol. Great videos. Paiste makes very consistent cymbals. And that's very difficult. Especially cast b20. It's almost scary how close they get it between models and weights etc. thanks for the videos fellas.
Regarding the Rude cymbals, “what’s strange is that they’re actually, some of them are rather musical.”
Great comparison. 602s were nice. All good but many from 602s and beyond, a mix and match deal.
Hi! Thank you very much for this video.
It’s also nice to mix a darker and a brighter series in a drum set, like for example Masters and Dark Energy or 602 modern essentials with Traditionals or Traditionals and dark energy... by the way these are my 4 favourite flavours on the Paiste catalogue. Happy Music. Thanks again.
Thanks
This was amazing. Best Paiste demonstration ever.
Thank you Diego!
That 22 Trad got my attention. The Giant Beats were really sweet sounding too.
These comparison videos are extremely helpful and insightful. Thanks for doing this!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks guys. I’ve owned both the PST 5 and 7 series cymbals. Terrific sounds for the money. However, the 7s sound closer to the 2002 cymbals than the 5s. The 5 series is supposed to be the same alloy as Signature.
these comparison videos are invaluable.
Thank you, we think so too!
Awesome comparison, thank you DCP! Can you do Istanbul Agop next? By the way, that drum set sounds incredible, but it looks like it was set up for a much smaller person :D
in no specific order, but ... Giant Beat, Signature, and Dark Energy for me!
....sorry ....and traditional 602! A full set of a mixture of the above would be a dream!
I'll Never forget the 2002 17" thin crash sound!
Perfect amount of sustain and tone!
your demos are the best
I've never not been taking a dump while watching these videos.
you're our key demographic
To me, a Zildjian sounds like dropping a beer bottle on the pavement, while a Paiste sounds like dropping a champagne glass on a marble floor. Paiste 2002 cymbals created the soundtrack of my life.
The 602 and Signatures sound superb
35:52 I had never noticed that chimey sound at the decay of the cymbal, so beautiful and harmornic! I am listening with Beyer D770 250 the sound is so crisp.
Wow narrowing it down it going to be tough. But after to listening to the different crashes I am more leaning to towards thinner like the 2002's. Great video though and love the way you took the time to play the kit and hit each cymbal with each cymbal release. Awesome!!!!!
Awesome video! Thanks for the comparisons. I love the 2002's but they aint cheap, might go for the PST 7's.
Yes! Just Yes! Thanks again guys! 🔥🔥🔥
I will be 61 years old this year and in 1979 I bought a set of 2002 black label, but after a while I found them just too harsh, and eventually swapped them for high end Zildjian cymbals, and I have since moved onto UFiP Class and Bionic, however the reimagined 2002 range sounds wonderfully improved to my ears and the Big Beats also sound luscious
The PST5 hi hat was a real surprise,
I loved it! Love the bright crisp Signatures-a real fave of mine and the full-bodied 602s impressed. Those Masters were trashy! Thanks for an in-depth look at these, though I would have liked a bit more time on the rides.
Ok I'll add to this I felt there were gems in all the pro lines and it depends on the genre and playing style which would suit the individual. I did note the Big Beat crashes being drier as expected but still with just enough musicality. Id be happy with a set or a combination of any really. I'd just be OCD enough to keep alloys grouped together . Love this presentation and would like to see comparo's with focus groups Like Dark energy v HHX v the Zildjian & Meinl counterparts. Cheers this was so good
Thank you, Michael!
Damn that Sonor kit sounds GOOOOOOD!
I remember hating Paistes back in the 70s and 80s, until my old Berklee buddy Abe Laboriel Jr bought a set of Signature series and DAYUM.
I've gotta say, the 602 Moderns are pretty damn nice too.
Played Paiste for my whole drumming life. Formula 602, 2002, 2002 Big beats and Signatures. ❤
This store and staff make terrific and informative videos and like many of you I agree the best source on the net. They are all very good drummers and get to display it often. At the end of this they did do a sound check w/o the drums which was very helpful. My suggestion to them is maybe mix up the rhythms used to display the various products. It is almost always a funky groove and works well for kits and snares. Especially with the cymbals if someone had laid down a swing or bebop groove the listener could hear the difference when the sound of the cymbal is grouped in a tighter pattern. I know playing jazz is the least profitable for working drummers but it is still out there for now. If they were to do this with a comparison between the signature series and Zildjian K's that would be informative. The beat goes on.
that sq2 sounds amazing!
Great comparison! If you want to branch out just a touch, the Paiste Signature Heavy Full REFLECTOR is the best in my past arsenal. You may want to consider adding that to a future list. Its just as nice as regular Fulls, and plays just as soft, but it has a sweeter decay.
Nice video as usual guys. Too many to choose from! I had a signature fast crash that I loved but it cracked. The pAisTe logo looks like a child made it and that's a silly nit to pick but it drives me crazy 🙃. However, this video has me reconsidering them.
Be glad it’s not the new Sabian logo 😂
@@KimFilppudrummer I bought the HHX complex. At least the logo is on the bottom 😂
@@JAA802 sweet, mount it looow haha 😉
Love the three 2002 lines in the middle, currently doing some man maths to justify either a set of 2002 or Big Beats as the last thing that I need to upgrade on my kit. Have always used Zildjians, but fancy a change too!
1 Signature
2 2002
3 Rude
None of the others really resonated 😉 with me. I'm a wannabe drummer but I know what I like when I hear it. Those Sonor's sounded pretty sweet also.
great comparison, thats really helpful, especially the Head to Head ! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful and thanks for watching!
Damn!!! Your passion and profession is genetically engineered. I thought genetics was deep but music goes even deeper. 😁
