I have a 4th gen Camaro and RSX Type S. Why not have both? They’re very different cars. But my RSX is the best car I’ve ever owned. Reliability, comfort, and fun for a daily driver. My Camaro is sick but I don’t like to drive it daily.
One huge thing to look at for his leak in the tail light gaskets. Water will leak through and you’ll find water where the spare tire is. Very common problem specially with the 2002-2004 models.
Victor dARKO i had to record this video 2 times because the first time the audio was very bad, and I actually metioned what you just said. Im so pissed I forgot to mention it again the second time! Thank you for mentioning it!
my top 5 , 1.Compression, 2. Grinds, 3. Steering rack slider wear *pop open hood grab it and shake it up and down where the inner tie rods mount, if it shakes your gonna need a new slider guide* 4.Legit or stolen 5. Body damage miss match paint etc
I have an 06, they are known for a/c failure, I just paid $1500 to fix mine, pay attention to the airbox if you don't do maintenance yourself, the screws strip easily so when you get an oil change, your air filter is not being changed and they charged you for it , I'm gonna get rid of mine
Good points. The transmission issue seems to be one of the biggest ones in my experience. Also check any engine codes if the light is on. The car is very finicky about that. One little problem that doesn't even matter will make the car run like crap. I had a code for a cat converter because my car has a race header and it ran horrible until i did my little fix.
I wanna thank you so much for this video. I just looked at a 06 rsx type s and was in good shape and was about to want to look at numbers for it. Then i looked underneath. The trunk had a rust hole all the way through in 3 spots and the whole spare compartment was toast. Wouldnt have looked if i didnt see this video. So now im hoping to get a 08 civic si coupe. Thank you again!
Comments like these are the reason why I love making videos! Thank you so much for your support and I am very thankful that I could help you out. I wish you luck on your car hunt and whatever you end up getting enjoy the hell out of it. Thanks for the support
I've had mine for less than 6 months. I was already a broke college student when I bought it. Here's a list of shitty things that's happened. Bought in late June 2017: August 22 night before I left for college: Knock rod ($2500) for new engine October heating went out/no defroster for winter Today starter died on night before going home for winter break. Had to push it across street.
Thanks for the video, owner of a type R DC5 from japan for 6 years now i must say the clutch oil pump tend to break as well. Gearbox IMO is the most "expensive" weakness.
I had the common Honda “dreaded 3rd gear issue,” 3rd gear will randomly grind, pop out, or hard to go in, RANDOMLY, on my otherwise lovely 06 RSX Type-s. I took a chance and used Royal Purple Gear oil. It shifted perfectly ever since, 10 yrs ago, and going strong. Cheap fix. The RSX is an addictive fun car with the right amount of upscale interior. It’s hard find a better car, even now, especially considering the light weight / power / handling / mpg / upscale interior factors.
i has 5 Acuras RSX TypeS (DC5) 2002-2003-2004 and One 2005 and im Agreee on Power Stearling and Seats but Power Windows its Minor Under 30$ to Fix but keep it in Mind cars was BUILD in 2002-2006 i Driving RSX-TypeS over 14 YEARS !!!! Got an 06 Type S and I found out about this video late aha, and I’m replacing the taillight gaskets in a few days and going to get the surface rust off next
ShotzDeMo thank you so much! It really means a lot I could help out, if at least one person finds this video helpful then i feel as if I did my part. I hope you enjoy your RSX to the max!
just bought a black rsx base 2003 automatique oem body is pretty mint, it was awsome to drive it on road even though its auto but roll like a marbles. The auto transmission have issue too, when its cold the second gear knock and take time to shift. p.s. the k20z3 will coming soon.
Hey man great video. I will be replacing my power steering pump on my dC5 next weekend. Do you know what kind of fluid it takes? Someone told me that some cars use trans fluid. I just don’t want to mess it up
Hey all, looking at a 02 RSX. The guy built it, engine, etc. but is a known car builder, so I feel like I could trust it, but obviously will be checking it out. My question, how are these in the winter? I'd imagine good. But curious on owner's thoughts!
Great video and very helpful 🙏 this Saturday I’m going to check out a rsx type s if its all good I might buy it has low miles clean title bone stock 6 speed 4,000$USD
Just bought an 05 with 111000 on the odometer, base 5 speed. Love it so far got 30 mpg going 85 500 miles. Can’t wait to modify it... ( lowered, intake, exhaust) and daily driving for the next 100,000 miles. Bought for 4,200. Did i make a good decision?!
I have a fully built 02 type-s made 358 to the front wheels. When I bought the car had the stock a2 which I loved an still have. But swapped it with a 06 tax 24a2 built it from the ground up 4 piston every kinsler itbs which I still have a rbc I’ll run every now an again .im still running the k20a2 which has been gone threw an beefed up. Have a ton of money blood sweat an tears in it personally my favorite
Yooo a common reason for the grinds are actually due to the slave and master cylinder.... these werent made for fast shifting hence the grind. Upgrade the master and slave and problem goes

Hey guys. Question for everyone. I have a fully stock 2006 RSX Type S. Runs like a dream with 210k. Has anyone gone with a genuine Acura A-Spec suspension? And thoughts on the A-Spec suspension versus the Type S setup. Thank you.
I have an 05 RSX Type S. The cosmetic difference between an 02-04 is pretty significant when compared to an 05-06. Also if you’re looking for a TypeS, 05-06 Type S had 10 more horsepower than 02-04 Type S and also had more aggressive final drives. 4.38 for 02-04 and 4.76 for 05-06
Hey! Thanks for commenting. So that millage is actually pretty good! What year is the RSX? Is it Type S? Is it stock? Also the gauge cluster is something people swap a lot, so it may say it has x amount of miles but could have more. If you’re very interested in the car maybe do a carfax?
Overall good info. But you repeat yourself so much. This could be a 6 minute video. Suggestion. Edit the video to where you dont repeat yourself so much.
@@drewvennom13 you hear the fuel pump turning on then? It could very well be a line… id disregard injectors because if its not spitting then it couldn’t be all of them lol
I just got a question, you know the odometers in the American cars, they measure in miles right ? And Australian cars measures in kilometres.. Anyways let me change the question a little.. how long does the engine of this model of Integra can last for ? I am going to check out a 2005 Type S today, it has 205000 km's -ish...
2ndchanceinlife hey!! Yes I realize units of measure are different over there. To answer your questions, I’ve seen Integra completely stock engines with more than 300,000 miles on the odometer, thats over 480,000 kilometers. These engines can definitely take a beating, and there are always replacement parts readily available
There is this one close by but it has JDM transmission in it with claimed 80k miles on it. Seems risky? Also I dont know how to drive stick so I cant drive it hard when testing.
Duck Hey!! My honest opinion would be to maybe try and take a friend that does know how to drive stick, a test drive is a very important part of buying a used car. As for the JDM transmission, that doesn’t necessarily mean that its a bad thing, just try to see the general condition of the car, ask the seller the time they’ve had the car, why they’re selling. If you’re really interested, and I mean if you’re really serious about it, try to ask the seller if he/she is willing to go to a mechanic shop and have them look under the car. This takes some time, so make sure you’re serious about buying the car! Good luck!
@@leonelobbed Thanks for the reply I have been wanting to learn stick for a while now it seems fun and worth the investment. Sadly I need a car soon and I am also looking at saab 9-3s they are plentiful but only in autos.
xGeekMenace-- RSXs in general are great cars, especially if they were taken care of by their previous owner. I personally don’t have any experience with automatic RSXs but if the price is right, go for it! I recommend however opting for a manual even if its base. You can have much more done to it in the future, if thats your thing. If you just want a point a to point b car, get the auto
Bought a 2003 Type S brand new, traded it in for a new 2010 Camaro. It had 104,000 miles and never had any issues. Biggest mistake I ever made.
Christopher Winters why was it a mistake man
Sebastian Mendez I think he meant the trade in
Meaning that Camaro is giving him problems

Victor dARKO Sorry I'm new to the car game but is this just a minor problem?
Some advice you'er better off using the oem seat belts until you get A proper racing seat with theme harnesses.
Do you think Braum is a decent brand to get a pair of racing seats for my DC5?

I got a rsx for my son. He loves it. 185k. No problems. Automatic. No mods. Glad i choose this one for him.
I got an automatic for my daughter's first car. After driving it I'm planning on buying a manual for myself.

Honestly to each their own. But I'd say if you have the money, buy a Type S. Having that said Base models can also be modified and have good numbers.
Doesn't really matter both are really good 😊
Hey guys. Question for everyone. I have a fully stock 2006 RSX Type S. Runs like a dream with 210k. Has anyone gone with a genuine Acura A-Spec suspension? And thoughts on the A-Spec suspension versus the Type S setup. Thank you.
Really cant help you there bro, don't know much about a-spec suspension. sorry!
My wheel shakes very hard when idle or when breaking, why is that??
What year is your rsx I'm looking at an 04 and 06 not sure the difference between them
I have an 05 RSX Type S. The cosmetic difference between an 02-04 is pretty significant when compared to an 05-06. Also if you’re looking for a TypeS, 05-06 Type S had 10 more horsepower than 02-04 Type S and also had more aggressive final drives. 4.38 for 02-04 and 4.76 for 05-06
Should I buy a rsx with 105,000 m on it ?
That’s extremely good miles
John Phang is 6,000 a good price for it ?
I know it's so late for me seeing this but I just got me a 2003 rsx for cheap its not getting fuel right now
Hello Drew, have you checked your fuel pump?
@@leonelobbed I have and I think it maybe a line maybe messed up because it was towed to my house itll crank and crank but no start
@@drewvennom13 you hear the fuel pump turning on then? It could very well be a line… id disregard injectors because if its not spitting then it couldn’t be all of them lol
@@leonelobbed the fuel pump kicks on then turns off
I just got a question, you know the odometers in the American cars, they measure in miles right ? And Australian cars measures in kilometres.. Anyways let me change the question a little.. how long does the engine of this model of Integra can last for ? I am going to check out a 2005 Type S today, it has 205000 km's -ish...
2ndchanceinlife hey!! Yes I realize units of measure are different over there. To answer your questions, I’ve seen Integra completely stock engines with more than 300,000 miles on the odometer, thats over 480,000 kilometers. These engines can definitely take a beating, and there are always replacement parts readily available
Sweet ! Thanks so much. Best is to try and find one that isn’t abused. They sure can take a beating alright !
Hey man I know this video is old but it has some great info. How can I know if the engine has been swapped?
Check that the vin number matches on both the car and engine plate
LeonelObbed thanks!!!
@@kakashi99908 You'll learn super quick! I actually learned to drive stick on my RSX! Good luck with the car search! Thanks for commenting
I’m looking too getting a rsx on Friday automatic. Yes or no? One owner off ther lot
xGeekMenace-- RSXs in general are great cars, especially if they were taken care of by their previous owner. I personally don’t have any experience with automatic RSXs but if the price is right, go for it! I recommend however opting for a manual even if its base. You can have much more done to it in the future, if thats your thing. If you just want a point a to point b car, get the auto
I’m trynna buy a 2002 rsx but miles are at 220k what do U think, I need a car ASAP n their selling it for cheap ?
It all depends really, what's asking price?
Do a dc5 meet 😂 first time i saw one of your videos i didnt notice, pero ya vi that you from Puerto Rico 😂😂
