    My 02 Base 5 speed has 348k. Clutch made it to 275K. Original engine and trans. Many, Many, Many other things went bad like AC on 3rd compressor, Alternator, both cooling fans, Shocks (on second set), Wheel Bearings, Cabin fan on 3rd, brake calipers, Cruise control module, Keyless entry module, Vtec Control solenoid, Axels, Shift Lever X2, and many other things I can't think of. I have done 99% of the work myself. I was the original owner bought it brand new in 2002. Car had 8 miles on it. It's my work beater now. I have another car I drive too.

      That's cool man! No one believes me when I tell them my clutch lasted 230k miles😂. Thinking about it is that really a lot of maintenance items for owning it over 22 years? Honestly that doesn't seem like that much maintenance for that many miles and age. Keep the rsx running man 🤟

      @@illusiversx The key is to change the oil often. I change mine every 3k. also, for as long as the parts were available, I only used OEM parts. Now, parts are hard to comeby so I just get autozone parts.

      I got 05 rsx and it has 163000 miles . AC took a dump ... Bad oil leak , shocks are shot .. but it's still running .... Still want to do maintenance on it .. just a lot of money for parts . I auto zone stuff too in stead of go to the dealership.. rsx restorers, it's a fun car . Love the rsx vibe . Btw , I like the auto matic .. I'm 50yrs old so I just chill while driving . Feel your pain on the rust man, live up here in the PNW and recently purchased my very own Type-S and it unfortunately has some rust. Easily salvageable in the state it’s in for me right now thankfully but man when I bought the car and noticed it AFTER buying I had such huge buyers remorse but I’m gonna make do and take care of the problem as best as I can.

      @@vicepixel going to look into that, already addressed my rust issue and thankfully it all ended up being surface rust but the service they provide looks like it’ll give me that extra confidence. Looks like they’re about a 3-4 hour drive from me but it looks like it’d be worth doing. 🥶 thanks for the suggestion again.

    Appreciate your honesty regarding the '2nd/3rd' gear grind...
    Have you tried different MTF fluid?
    Quick tip.
    Easy to remove alternator by removing Passenger side headlight 😎👍

    • @illusiversx
      @illusiversx  7 месяцев назад

      I'll be honest everyone shits on honda Transmissions. Even myself sometimes but I've only ever changed the fluid once and the thing has ran amazing when the clutch wasn't messed up. Now that the clutch is fresh and it's all working properly it doesn't even grind unless it's 20 degrees or Colder out.

    • @aquatrax123
      @aquatrax123 Месяц назад

      The 2nd, 3rd gear grind for me was caused by the springs in the clutch disk popping out and making contact with the flywheel and clutch cover causing some torque to be applied to the drive train even when the clutch was pressed. Replacing the flywheel, clutch disk, clutch cover and throwout bearing fix it for me.

    • @illusiversx
      @illusiversx  6 месяцев назад

      When I started having all my clutch problems my gears would grind a bit so maybe you could check your master and slave cylinder and make sure it's working properly and if it is you could always replace the clutch since your at 215k. Replaced mine at 238k. Otherwise your synchros will need to be changed
