- Tango Gameworks' newest offering -- console exclusive to PlayStation 5 for the next year -- is its strangest game yet. While still in full embrace of its horror roots (this is Shinji Mikami's team, after all), Tango has opted to get away from scripted and linear play reminiscent of its Evil Within franchise in lieu of something quite different: An open world. What results is a truly different experience, wildly underrated, and woefully-ignored by much of the press. Ghostwire: Tokyo is a unique, enchanting, and deeper-than-meets-the-eye first-person action game with a collectathon twist, and we're pleased to gush about it here on Sacred+. Beware of spoilers! They're everywhere (except the very beginning).

I don't usually comment on videos, but Colin raised a point that has been floating around in my brain for some time. It seems like reviewers these days are churning through games at an insane rate, and aren't experiencing them the same way that regular people do.
Most reviewers or people in games media are constantly focusing on elements of game design or content, and everything starts to feel like a course on how to design the perfect video game, instead of an examination of the game that they have in front of them. So I really appreciate this podcast for having the space of mind to talk about things like the culture behind the game, or the work that the artists put into fully realizing the world.
I really enjoyed Ghostwire Tokyo, even though it was pretty easy compared to most action titles. The difficulty of a game is not the only thing that makes it enjoyable. There's so much to enjoy in this title beyond just how hard it is to kite or defeat enemies. I personally found the final chapter to be incredibly emotional, so much that when I was pursuing the platinum trophy, I had difficulty replaying that section to get Hero of Shibuya.
I'd really recommend this title to somebody who wants to have an immersive experience, even if the difficulty of the gameplay doesn't quite reach the same heights.
Really wish Chris appeared on this episode as well. Thank you for the spoilercast!
I do as well but I think he mentioned why he wasn't on it but I don't remember why
Listened to this while playing Ghostwire Tokyo. Phenomenal podcast and I'm loving the game as well. Its strange to think a game this niche based on such niche topics in the western world got a full western release. I think back to the 2000s when I was growing up and I imagine this would have been a game if released back then that I would have had to scrounge around on the internet finding as much possible as I could about it like I used to do with so many other things. So cool to see how much Japanese media has grown in the west.
I beat this game and almost platinumed it but I decided not to. I loved this game so much. My 4 yr old son runs around the house shooting spells with his hands!such a good game
That’s dope
The only thing I knew about this game before this episode was it’s name. Definitely interested to see it now, shame it doing poorly but I’ve barely seen as much as an ad for it
Just finished Ghostwire: Tokyo and absolutely loved this game! Insanely underrated!! It is an actual refreshing open world.
I haven’t thought about Ghostwire once since I Plat’d it. The game was fine. I expected a 7 and to me it a total 7. It’s okay. Nothing more, nothing less. The Platinum was pretty straightforward with just a little bit of annoyance.
Thanks for making these.
@dustin did you put the nuggets in the oven or deep fry them? Please say deep fry , and if not WHY NOT
Tango is a sleeper for studio to watch. Evil within was great. Evil within 2 was nearly perfect. One of my top 10 of the last 10 years. Ghost wire is one of the main reasons I am considering getting a used PS5 even though I don't want to support Sony (for ideological reasons) but hopefully since Microsoft owns tango now we might get a late release to series x
I think they’re just fine studio all of Bethesda studios I think Machine games,Arkane and ID software are far superior studio than Tango
I thought it was a good game definitely worth my time
The increase in polish and quality consistency from evil within 1 to evil within 2 is impressive. I know a lot of people vastly prefer the original, but it way too scattershot for me. That’s scattershot direction and scattershot quality. It’s like absolutely nothing was cut. Just like … ever idea made it in and no one double checked to see if it was a good idea. The sequel might be flirting more being a standard triple a game, but it’s way more concise and has an actual direction and vibe.
Just beat the game and really enjoyed it. Hopefully the sales did well now a year later and game pass gave it a boost
I’m probably in the minority here…
I would love to see tango split into two teams and do both action and traditional Japanese horror games
glad you finally made this public. this game is so cool,
my favorite game this year
Love the spoilercasts
platinuming the game seemed rough
Coming over from defining duke and I really like the ps content too. A totally different set of strengths yet still the same amazing show.
Ryosuke is pronounced "Ree-Oh-skay"
I thought this game was pretty cool. It did get repetitive towards the end but so did Red Dead 2 (well before the end tbh) and people love that game.
Someone beat the halo challenge for the 20k
this game wouldve been so much better as a linear game
The story was touching at the end and Tokyo is just beautiful, but the game was 7/10 at best.
very great game
This game for me lacked execution. Cool premise, interesting enviroments and atmosphere. But gameplay was boring and repetitive. Skill tree was generic.
Its very style over substance the Japanese horror esthetic is the only thing that is going for this game but everything else is just meh
@@sakuragi1062 I enjoy suspense and horror but found everything they throw at you just mild and uninspired.

TEW2 was open world for much of the game. It was also a better game than Ghostwire.
It was ok. Rather play last of us for the 114th time.
Ghostwire is just a mediocre game. If a mediocre game hits you in your sweet spot then you're going to really like. If it doesn't then you're likely just going to think its fine and that there are better games out there.
Deathloop > this
disagree
i couldn't take more than 2 hours of Deathloop, the protagonist was too annoying
Imo the protagonist was one of the best part
@@XPyro69 lol he was a total stereotype
@@MikeG82 in video games theres not many like that. Reminds me of black dynamite
