The great thing about expensive accessories is that they encourage DIY ingenuity, which betters the hobby as whole. Lots of encouragement with most of these bumpers.
Great video that fills the void you mention at the beginning. The “lifter thing” is a stinger in the 1:1 world, the intent to keep buggies from tipping over forward and can also help slide up rocks.
Best RC Crawler channel! Thank you! Slowly making my way through your crawling vids. Just got into crawling after 35+ yrs in RC, last 15 in long range fixed wing and quad racing. Last RC truck was an Associated RC10t3 I raced locally, and it still performs great today. Just got my trx-4 defender and did my stock baseline testing and the front bumper kept me from climbing my very first obstacle!! Off with the bumpers! I’m going to bend and braze some bumpers with an aluminum skid plate. Thanks to your videos I’ve already got my front overdrive gears, portal covers, and ssd bead locks w/hyrax g8, hw 1080esc, Savox 1210, Holmes hobby 12t CrawlMaster.....Most from Amain😎
On my defender I switched to a sport bumper and flipped the mount and install the led bar. Holy cow the approach angle improved a ton and increased the performance too
I've got the TRX Bronco and I swapped out my chrome bumpers to aftermarket aluminum ones. Front one has a winch. I use mine on a lot of different terrain and approach angles aren't very often a problem. If it's to big, I come at it from the side and turn into the obstacle. Other than that, it's got the torque to push itself onto the rock or move it out of the way.
Yeah, there are some really nice bumpers out there that I just can’t justify the cost. I’m trying to price together multiple rigs so I can crawl with my kids. Getting some nice cheaper bumper ideas are great. Thanks for the Vanquish tip.
Helpful but a vid on the compatibility of bumpers to different vehicles n such would have been helpful. New to the crawler world and not many local hobby shops in my area that have parts to see in person. I did end up buying a wertymade bumper that had a pic of it on a trx4.
Yes Francis. I now keep a new set of the Vanquish front and rear plastic bumpers ($14) in reserve to fit to new crawlers. But, usually need to modify them for different chassis and body combinations. Best long term answer for my rigs have often been ScalerFab front bumpers; but, I always end up modifying their stock holes/slots where they mount to the chassis rails of the ladder frames to optimize approach angles. Cannot say that I have found perfect sliders for my rock crawling needs. Will probably resort to making my own.
The stinger on the front bumper isn't so much meant for sliding up things. It is more for when you come down a hill and your front end digs in, your rear end comes up and you can go end-over-end, and flip over onto your lid. The stinger helps prevent it from going end-over-end.
After some attempts we arrived at the same solutions you suggest: - put much inside as possible (e.g. Axial Blazer, TRX4 Sport front and Bronco) - reverse when possible (e.g. Bronco) - reverse also chassis's mounting bracket, not mentioned in your video (Bronco and Sport) - remove...only rear bumper, because of possible front crash with some speed All these has really changed crawling performance !! Last but not least, in our experience the best stock one are Axial Wrangler and Honcho (even with that big front bumper). The answer is: why Axial did a top performer Wrangler in 2017 and a beautiful, but really poor performer Blazer in 2019 ???
It is not easy to find a good compromise between aesthetics and good ground clearance! .. In the UMG right now I have a lead of 200gr. Truck balancing .. The Hyrax class 2 rubs everything. Good video Francis ... As always 👍.
Right on. Really appreciate it. You mention something else we forgot that big bumpers often come in contact with big, good tires, especially when pushed in.
Hey Ken what is your opinion on the way the wertymade stubby mounts? I am almost positive they mount to the chassis instead of with posts correct? Do you think that wertymade will hold up to falls? I got a cheap 14 dollar bumper off amazon and after one fall from like 3 feet it bent open the screw holes were it attached to the chassis so I am concerned about getting another one of those kind that mount to the chassis. I know wertymade is way more than 14 dollars but I am willing to pay more for good quality haha. Thanks for your opinion if you get back to this.
RC Ranch yes the bumpers mount to the frame and they are solid. I have them on two of my rigs and they hold up to rolls, running into rocks, but they are great at allowing me to traverse some pretty steep inclines because of the angle of the bumper
SSD on the back, Wertymade on the front and Hot racing sliders on my TRX4, huge different in approach and departure angles. In my experience the 3D printed ones break and crack until actual trail conditions.
i bought the VP bumpers for sendero had to trim the front slightly to clear grill and the rear works perfect with the Element utility bed kit thanx for the info 14$ price was awesome fix for Elements lil booboo
I usually try to purchase bodies that already have good approach and departure angles and just detail the lexan bumpers (if equipped) to shed the addition weight caused by metal bumpers
Already knew the TRX Sport bumpers we're terrible (I mean, look at em). So my budget idea was Gmade Bom front bumper. Not an original idea, but does match the truck lines well. And will flip and push in the rear. My next truck will be an Enduro RTR, so will likely run the Vanquish bumpers, good looking out Francis. Sliders? I like the look of the RC4WD ones but need to space them and trim the body on the TRX.
I’m using gmade gs01 for the front and KYX for the rear..should I cut away the rear lexan bumper? I got the enduro bodyshell for my kit and it already have a bumper ..😁 kind of a waste to cut it off..😬
Would it be better to get the vanquish bumpers, because they’re plastic and it keeps your Sprung weight lighter? I’m trying to decide on aluminum bumpers versus the vanquish bumpers, and in my sport I don’t want to ruin the sprung versus unsprung weight ratio that I already have. Or is it good to add weight in the bumper areas?
Very good subject, Francis!! You're right, not covered enough. We DO want these looking as real as possible... YET I see so many out there without *Interiors or Drivers!!!* 😖😒 Autonomous Vehicles creep me out! The Double Bumper thing is also a laugh!! But like you said, adding a *Tube Stinger* in front of the Bumper, does help it slide over better - but was originally designed to prevent the front end from digging into the Ground, when coming off steep Rocks. 😉 And THANKS for the Tip on the Vanquish Bumpers!! 👍👍 Who KNEW? Carmine ✈🚂🚙
I have a redcat racing gen 8 crawler and recently bought a proline body for it. I found that the the bumpers stuck out too much from the body and were ajusted all the way in. do you know of any bumpers or mods i can get to get the bumper closer to the body?
I just purchased a xspede stinger bumper yesterday for my redcat gen8 I had to drill the hole bigger and also the bumper sticks out way to far in my opinion. Is this normal
Im running very custom home made bumpers on my gen 8 scout 2 but gunna buy some cuz my front stinger weighs about 3 pounds and my rear is about 2 pounds
Anyone know if the vanquish bumper set he mentioned fits the Trx 4 Sport? Looks like the mounting posts are round but the Trx has square bumper inserts.
The great thing about expensive accessories is that they encourage DIY ingenuity, which betters the hobby as whole. Lots of encouragement with most of these bumpers.
I wanted a trailer. They are way too expensive. So I’m building my own. I hope it comes out good. This is all to say you are exactly correct.
@@kregadeth5562 I wish you the best. I'm sure you'll get far more satisfaction from your build then you would from purchasing.

I dont run sliders on my trx4. I just let the lexan eat the terrain :D
Ditto i removed bumpers and sliders it really improved performance

thanks for the first-hand experience!
I used an aftermarket bumper for a redcat gen 8 on my trx blazer. It fit excellent.
I bought scale metal bumpers until recently when I bought the high clearance Axial UMG10 bumper. I love it
Love the channel. Loyal subscriber. Can you actually show us some of those sliders? I feel like you mainly just went over the bumpers. Thanks!!

I run Wertymade stubbys on both my SCX10II and my Enduro. I cut off the molded lexan bumpers so my approach angles are insane!!

Perfect advice. Wertymade is hand made too we hear.

im running the vanquish bumper on my element build. It works well and was cheap. Even installed the servo winch. I made a video all about.
Really cool to hear.
Could you tell me the distance between the mounting posts and their diameter? I'm trying to see if they would fit on the Gen8.
@@henrikcsuri that's a good question. I just measured and got 44.5mm. When i check against scx10ii it seemed to be the same.

Man this video whipped out stock on the vanquish bumpers everywhere!
Yep, stock up on that. Best bumpers ever!!!
Everyone has them back in stock now just ordered a set. 12/29/19
I have that hot racing bumper. I took everything off but the diamond plate things and its great
Love the channel love the music reminds me of a horror film for some reason
I really appreciate your videos. I like that you give your opinion and then explain the facts that led to your opinion. Well done sir.
Thank you. We saw a real opportunity to learn and inform since too many videos don't explain key strengths and weaknesses of a product.
I run Wertymade bumpers. Very nicely made!
Most definitely.
While I do own quite a few third party bumpers for my TRX-4's, I've had the best results 3d printing bumpers for my SCX10.2 trucks.
So 3D printed ones are hard enough for the impacts? Slippery enough to slide well?
Wow, you have some many good videos, you will have a million subs here soon.

RC4WD Tough Armour steel bumpers and sliders. Steel is real. At least it looks real when scratched.
Yup, those are good. Steel slides very well too. Looks better when marked.
👌🏽Outstanding! RC Review Thank You!🤙🏽
Cannot find any decent front bumper for my trx6 that protects shell efficiently. Any help? Many thanks,
What is your recommendation for a front metal tube bumper with winch mount that fits a trx4 sport
Don't know but maybe others can chime in. RC4WD and Wertymade are the goto's for metal
Sliders = Need bars. To protect rocker panels under doors
Im running very custom home made bumpers on my gen 8 scout 2 but gunna buy some cuz my front stinger weighs about 3 pounds and my rear is about 2 pounds
I got my first rc it's a used carisma coyote I'd like to know if I can change the body and bumpers and how? Yes I'm a noob
Hey I will pay you later thanks for those free upgrade ideas.
Great video! Thank god for your common sense...
Thank you. Sometimes we're stating the obvious but hopefully, this helps some out there.
Anyone know if the vanquish bumper set he mentioned fits the Trx 4 Sport? Looks like the mounting posts are round but the Trx has square bumper inserts.
Don't think so. The square, circle mount difference. You can put nuts and bolts thru the frame and holes in the round new bumper to hold it.
If u get steal bumper rear and front and u see the springs drop what do I do
Can you do a update to this for 2020?
where can i get these in the uk
For Scx24 C10. Flip the front bumper upside down for more clearance. Thank me later😄🤙🏾
Agree
My favorite bumper is MYTRICK RC IS GOOL
NC MOUNTAINS ❤🖒💯
Iercscaler.com sliders sickest sliders and won’t break the bank
