The fact is that you hustled him by pretending to be a noob. There was no trolling here. It's a fun video, but only because he was so gracious. I'm glad you told him and he took it well. It's a Hollywood myth that the people playing chess in NYC are "hustlers" looking to con people out of money. I think the description "hustler" gets overused. I can count on my fingers the ones that can lower their ability to the point where it is not noticeable ie blundering pieces and making anti positional moves, so that when you win, it appears to be as a result of a genuine struggle and when you lose (when substantial money is wagered on the game) the game also is very competitive.
Same thing I was going to say. He was picking up the cues really quick yet still explaining his thoughts as if she was a beginner just in case. Class act there.

I break, and make some balls, and proceed to keep making balls until I pocket the 8. It's sometimes called a break and run. He's pissed off! Calls me a hustler. The fact is that you hustled him by pretending to be a noob. There was no trolling here. It's a fun video, but only because he was so gracious. I'm glad you told him and he took it well. It's a Hollywood myth that the people playing chess in NYC are "hustlers" looking to con people out of money. Most are just making good use of the skills and knowledge they have to make some money while playing the game they love. And some of them, like this guy, share that love so generously.
The Old dude is so charming.
“Chess hustlers” are not con men. There’s no negativity in that term.
Yeah, if making $ from chess is the issue (?!?!), then, um, chess streamers are a bigger one?!! ...
As Chapelle learned with the 3 card monty hustler, "Never get between a man and his meal." (I might be paraphrasing). @@nou1186
That’s what you call a “friendly game of chess.” Normally I find chess hard to watch, but this was quite enjoyable. Very nice.
his love for the game shines through so much and it's beautiful. Best kind of player imaginable
I don't understand this trend online where people lie about themselves to set up other people and make themselves look good at their expense. This man is really nice. I would feel so bad having acted something I'm not, and he was so nice!
I don’t know how the algorithm recommended this video but I really enjoyed it. Both people are charismatic and energetic. She has amazing character.
Same here, showed up randomly on my feed and I am glad it did.
Same! Such a wholesome interaction!
Because your phone is listening to you. I just played my son several games the other day, this popping up in my feed is no coincidence.
That man needs to be a chess commentator. He explains the positions in an engaging way.
This was absolutely fantastic. Two great players going all out and both opponents were very respectful. The gentleman everyone is calling Ty is a class act all the way. If he had a channel that taught intermediate to expert levels of chess playing, I would watch it every single day. He's not a hustler, he is an educator.
He was so informative and kind to you. I love him his energy his understanding of the game and how he explains what he does and why it's wholesome! Big up Ty!
Such a wholesome engagement. This dude seems like an awesome guy.
Respect for the man talking you through it, trusting that you’re good willed (and not lying).
What a lovely man. He's teaching people as he plays, and knew when you had him, and congratulated you for it.
I haven't played chess since school, but loved watching Ty playing and coaching...A real gentleman who obviously loves the game...
This is one of my favourite chess videos. Instructional but human and warm. Anna's lovely energy and Ty's generous spirit. Beautiful game.❤❤
This guy seems like a genuine teacher , props to him
He also had winning positions at least 2 times
I don't play chess but the fact that two totally different people playing together and having great fun also made me happy. He is such a great sport and she is so adorable sitting and playing with him was worth the watch :)
That dude's amazing! So caring and explained everything well. You need to play him without feigning that you're a beginner and see how you both fair.
14:50 He didn't see that idea? Surely he was being a good sport and letting her gain an advantage
Such a great guy. You can see he has a great mind by the way he tackles the whole situation. Humble and very, very smart.
You're absolutely right!
I like how after you start beating him he's still intent on offering suggestions and giving lessons.
She was only beating him at the very end when he blundered with Rd2 instead of h5.
the dialogue helped my 400 rating brain understand each move like a gm
what a great guy
Can we acknowledge that this guy saw the mate in 8 and played into it to see if she could follow through. What an absolute unit!
I like the hustler, he seems very kind
I think the description "hustler" gets overused. I can count on my fingers the ones that can lower their ability to the point where it is not noticeable ie blundering pieces and making anti positional moves, so that when you win, it appears to be as a result of a genuine struggle and when you lose (when substantial money is wagered on the game) the game also is very competitive.
@@Vedioviswritingservice I’m not even sure what u just said right there, i only understood the first sentence 😂
No he knew already that Anna is not a beginner
Of course. That is part of the hustle.
Anna’s the hustler on this video
He's undoubtedly a good player, doesn't take him long to realize she knows what she's doing.
Same thing I was going to say. He was picking up the cues really quick yet still explaining his thoughts as if she was a beginner just in case. Class act there.
The title of this vid is SO wrong.
She should be ashamed of herself.
I one time played this man, ooofff boy did i get humbled and he was even coaching me throughout my own moves xD, he offered to help teach me afterwards but i haven't had the time to return to union square. glad to see Tyrone is still being Tyrone.
Where were you when you played against him. I know where but can you enlighten me?
Can we talk about the sacrifice at 14:35? What move should he have done instead of moving his rook to counter? If he defends with the bishop then he leaves the file open. I’m going to look in the comments some more…
Pawn to h5, got it
Dude could have a twitch channel. He is sweet and explains things very well.
That’s actually a good idea. These twitch/RUclips players who hustle the hustlers should be kind and introduce them to the platforms and help them get set up
He seems to have the personality for it.
Let the guy enjoy his last days in the sunny park instead of alone, behind a screen or fixated to a smartphone
two lovely people, playing what they love most in the most wholesome way possible. I loved it.
uggghh. so pretentious
I love seeing all the positive comments about Ty. So wholesome. What a good-hearted guy
what a great video, a great encounter of two people loving their game! respectful, teaching each other and learning from each other… fantastic!
This guy was great! I love how he explained the game as he went and then gradually began talking out loud as he thought, then switched to asking without any frustration or ego.
you know it's a real game when it's not about winning or losing, but finishing and learning.
Not nice at all to call this man a hustler.
He's got a big heart and great love for the game!
100% agree
It's just a name for the park players that don't always play for money but sometimes do. Chess Hustler is not a negative charged word in my opinion
@@deadzen Exactly, thank you
@@deadzen you’re right. Idiots on internet love the fake outrage.
Also he kinda tried to trick her advising her to play a move that would get her mated the next move
He didn't hustle he played damn good chess while thinking you were a beginner. Class guy.
I REALLY need lessons with this guy!!! He was the whole time nice and incredibly clear in the position. He kept been nice even when saw has been fooled. This is love for chess.
He almost won 😂
Some chess hustlers are stronger than we may think. 🙂
A lot of them are solid 2000ish
A few of them are even stronger than 2000. GMs have trouble in some parks
@@MostLikelyMortal plus they’re in their element. Home court advantage.
@@MostLikelyMortal what GM was having trouble?
@@jukappa Hikaru would crush every hustler with a minute against 3 minutes 🤣
Really interesting. He's good and very kind. That was a good game and i'm happy you decided to continue it even if the time was over
Absolutely love this guy. A teacher, a great spirit of joy, and a chess fanatic
Honestly, I hope the two of you start a chess channel together. This is one of the most enjoyable videos I've seen in a long time.
He is really kind, he must be a good teacher when he go teaching people
This guy is great, i love that hes talking through it all. Im not a great chess player but i can appreciate the dude has skills and great attitude. What a good watch
That was delightful. The chemistry between you two was a joy to watch. Great content! Subbed!
Fun to watch, he is clearly a lovely guy, who enjoys people and chess. He showed no arrogance, which bedevils some chess players.
Although it is Anna’s video, he is the star in this one. I’m glad they both enjoyed sharing the board together.
I want to see if you would beat him after he knows how good you are and doesn’t take it easy on you in the beginning. You were actually the hustler to be honest! 🤣
I question your point of view about him going easy on her. He lost twice in the same match, my hat off to him but my respect goes to Her.
In the description she says they played several more games. And linked to one of those games. So go watch and see how it turns out.
@@don1965don I thought you said that YOU WANTED TO SEE if she beats him after he knows she is not a beginner. Why are you sending me to watch??? I just don't think he went easy on her as you claim he did!!!!
@@soyeloso7345 Sorry was meant for the @Holland Turner. Don't be so uptight.
@@don1965don 🤔🤔😂😂😂
I was smiling and laughing the whole time. This is how true friendships are made, Two very special people! What fun! Thank you both!.
what a nice guy. gave very natural reasoning behind his moves so it was easier to understand, and you pretending to be a beginner made you do the same. its good for us low level players to see it done this way
I was really enjoying the game interactions from both of you :D! Great game with beautiful offense and defense from both sides! Thank you for sharing and uploading Anna :D!
Oh my God, lol. That was actually fun to watch! I’ve never watched this active banter in one of these games before. It’s great! The back and forth was so great where you can hear each other twist the intention a bit in the hustle. But, he was immediately gracious with expressing the quality of the move. I loved that!! 👍🏻😎👍🏻
I love that she's testing him and he's teaching her lol idk why but it makes me happy to see them both happy
This guy seems like a really nice guy... He was explaining things to what he thought was a new player. He's even explaining what he's thinking and why.
A perfect example that the stereotypes are often wrong. Don't judge a book by its cover. It was a pure pleasure to see two people playing chess in such a nice atmosphere, having a proper conversation, smiling and enjoying time. Perfect.
Good luck to Anna and Ty.
Wow! This level of good-spirited camaraderie is so mood-lifting. Thanks to you both.
This is really wholesome content.
2 fun people having fun and a giggle playing chess. I didn't even know that chess could be this entertaining
Wouldn't Anna be the hustler in this case?
Yeah, but she's probably not winning money. Hustlers who don't win money are...something, but probably not hustlers. Reminds me of a story. I used to play a lot of pool. I was practicing, by myself one day. Guy comes up, wants to play. I said, ok, rack em'. He racks the balls, we were playing 8-ball. I break, and make some balls, and proceed to keep making balls until I pocket the 8. It's sometimes called a break and run. He's pissed off! Calls me a hustler. I say "Dude, hustlers don't make money by running out the first rack of the first game they play someone...that's a bad way to hook someone"
Love how he explains everything on the board. A natural teacher.
Believe it or not, this can be a strategy to distract thr opponent.
Two nice people. I always root for Anna, but in this case I was hoping for a draw.
I’m not a chess player, but because of the evaluation bar at 8:42 I spotted move knight to d7, don’t know if it correct, but anyway I think this move is beautiful, so I’m proud of myself)
