For those of you who have not seen Mike when he plays kids, it is an absolute joy. He teases them. He talks a little trash. They absolutely love him. He takes his losses and his victories as he should, as a good man.

I mean it's just great to see 2 people having fun, making jabs, and being respectful while doing it. Yeah he was trash talking but you can just tell it never comes from a malicious or condensending place. Just 2 great chess players having a good time!!!
It wasn't easy for sure. Had Mike played Rb8 at 4:13, Anna would've been annihilated. Capturing the rook is countered by Qxb8#, anything else is met with Qxf8#. The only real way to do anything about it is to move h-pawn 1 or 2 squares forward, but after Qxf8+ black is down a rook and white's attack is basically unstoppable with a checkmate coming in just a few moves.
I have to say that this is my favorite one to date. I just subscribed, so, that is half a subscription for Anna, and a half for Mike, saying as you are now sharing fans, Mike. LOL. He talks a good game.
@@Hamsterdam91 It can be - my friends and are do the same thing. The difference is we can be savagely cutting, trying to get each other to either laugh or get angry enough to blow the game, whereas in the clip they're being very gentle with how they 'insult' each other.

It would be nice if Carlini did not talk so much while others are playing. This game is with Mike and Anna, I wanted to hear them speak more but constantly was hearing Carlini.
At 4:14 - the white rook should go to B8 and the white has a check mate in the next move or the pawn goes to H6, the black rook is taken, then the black king goes to H7, etc. In any case, the white one has a big advantage.
I wouldn’t have expected her to fall into mate straight away from there but I did wonder why he didn’t do that instead of concentrating on defending his rook. I thought I must have just missed something since I’m not a good player and have never been taught.
He was so busy busy in the active part of the board he never saw her solid corner and constant winning of ground in the centre & basically all he had was his pawns moving forward, or not. Love it. Aussie Old Lady
He was in pretty good spot at one point. Rook and queen on 8th rank were a big threat and Anna would have had to sacrifice a Rook to survive, I think (I might be wrong but the eval bar was pretty much all white at the moment. When Anna moved her rook she was done for it, but he panicked and retreated his own rook to 1st rank and that was a heavy blunder, the eval bar went whoooooop to black)
Yep, he played B1 to defend when he should have went full throttle offensive with B8. Checkmate on next turn if nothing is played. Anna’s rook can’t take or it is still checkmate via back rank queen check. The only escape is to push the pawn, sacrificing the rook and also the pawn above the rook and destroying the king defence in the process. A lethal move Mike completely missed.
I saw that too, though her rook was protecting her king so she didn't need to move it and take the other rook. She could have opened up an escape route with a pawn move instead. Not sure what would happen after that though.
I tried learning chess but never once won a single match. I was able to see when the match was going to end when it was too late. The same happened when Mike did his last few moves. These two make moves so fast, I had no idea what was going on.
