Earlier sammy hangs a knight, alex noticed it but just took a pawn instead to encourage the kid. Im the furthest thing from a simp but Alex really makes it hard not to.
She is so adorable (all three lol). I like it that Dad had her give the prize back so she will learn you don't deserve a prize just for playing. In the long run this will help her strives to be better at time management.

I love that she found Bxh6 and the underlying pin on the g file. it's hard for beginners to remember that pins are transient and any move requires reevaluating the safety of pieces protected only by a pin. but to even find it once is very good
Yeah, but the pin goes nowhere. It just gets you a pawn. If Alex used her rook the queen was perfectly fine to go across the board and begin attacking with the bishop, pawn and other rook against a queen and some weak pawns.
