@jsshay01 I was raised Babptist, it isn't my salvation, it's my denomination. I get my salvation from God, like I repented to God. I don't fill a need to belong to a church for that. It's about the fellowship for me. But to be fair the church I grew up attending is only 3 miles from my home. If I like the message somewhere else. I could careless about his or her denomination. A fishing buddy is a fishing buddy kinda thing.
In the Boyscouts, many years ago, I had the privilege of going to many different churches. The Southern Baptists seemed to make the most sense. Our BSA troop looked forward to church. We all played on the same sports teams from t-ball, all the way through high school football. Our parents started coming because we went. Brother Bob was a great man!!! He gave sooo much to teaching kids in our community❤❤❤ Great video!
@ I’d like to stay Canadian. Trudeau isn’t as bad as his rep. Better than the opposition lol but a BIG NO to Dictator Donnie Trump. Can’t look up to someone who gives a BJ to a microphone. No matter the reason. Children were in attendance. He’s terrible. I wish the US luck! I’ll pray for ya’ll 🙏🏻❤️
@ When it comes to politics, actions speak louder than words too. Trump may not sound nice but he’s done a lot of good for the American people. Biden has done the opposite.
I'm a black man who is Southern Baptist. It was through the missionary work of the Southern Baptist Convention done at Grambling State University. This is where Chirst found me and saved me from his eternal wrath. It was at a BSU Bilble study where I heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ repent, believed, and was born again in the newness of life in Christ. Now, I preach and teach the Biblical Gospel everywhere I can. So I may play a small part in giving the good news to God's elect so they might be saved. Also, preaching and teaching the biblical gospel. To drive those who refuse to worship God. Deeper into darkness as a righteousness condemnation for their continued rebellion and unbelief.
@markwillhite9200 This is the good news: God the Father treated God the Son like you a sinner. Jesus was pure, holy, and undefiled. Jesus Chirst, bearing the full weight of God's eternal wrath on your behalf. Then God treating you just like the sinless Lamb of God. Jesus Christ righteousness imputed to your account. Making you holy and acceptable, resurrecting you into the newness of life in Christ. All of this being acomplised by the power of the Eternal Spirit. So, you and all those who repent and believe may enter in the presence of God and enjoy Him forever.
The Protestants who rebel and have fallen away as those spoken of in 2Thess. 2, have stumbled at the Stumbling stone because you all have refused Christ who named Simon, "Peter" meaning Rock and Gave Him the power to bind and loosen on earth in Christ's visible absence. It is not the Pope you reject, it is Christ. . John 13:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, *He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me;* and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. Thus it is written: 1John 4:6 (KJV) 6 *We are of God:* he that knoweth God *heareth US;* *he that is NOT OF GOD HEARETH NOT US.* *Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.* THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW PEOPLE ARE A HERETIC, IF THEY REFUSE TO HEAR THE CHURCH. 1 Peter 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. 7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: *but unto them which be disobedient,* the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, 8 *And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.* Many a Protestant has gone to hell preferring to read the bible rather than obeying the Church as Christ commanded. You might as well be Mormon or Adventist. What idiocy is it that fool who would use sacred scripture to as tool to justify their rebellion against the Church Christ Himself Instituted. But, the Protestants have done that very thing.
I am an independent, fundamental Baptist. I really appreciate you going through this and you are correct about our faith, which doesn't happen often. Thank you
Wrong there’s a subset of Baptist that aren’t protestant protesting a damn thing! I’ve never been a part of any other group and don’t ever plan on being a part of any other group so we haven’t splattered all from anybody! As a matter fact, one could even argue in Jesus was a Baptist. He went down and had John the Baptist baptize him!
If you are an IFB ....as well am I, then you should know that the IFB denomination completely disagrees with the so called facts in this video. Baptist were first formed about 500 years before the protestant movement. Hyles Anderson.... IFB University is a great source seeing it is the foundation of todays teachings and the training of IFB pastors in the USA.
No it's not. This video is 100% WRONG. The Baptist Faith was NOT "a spin-off from the Protestant movement". The Independent Fundamental Baptist Faith existed LONG BEFORE the Roman Catholic church ever existed, but they weren't known as "Baptists" in the early days, which would come later. See my stand-alone comment above to learn how & why. Also: the Southern Baptist Convention is HIGHLY corrupt.
I’m a Protestant Baptist . That I Honor My Lord Jesús Christ and I put my faith on him completely, I confess that I love being a Baptist believer.❤🙌🏻🤍🧎🏻♀️
It was with great trepidation that I clicked on this video. As saved, born again child of God; attending an Independent, Fundamental, Dispensationalist Baptist church - I almost held my breath waiting for the manure to be shipped in from left field. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how well this covered the denomination I lean toward in doctrine from scripture. Thank you for sticking to the facts; and not getting lost in the weeds.
Instead of following who many evangelicals used to consider as the modern day prophet Billy Graham who led millions to Christ, they chose to follow the political activist Jerry Falwell and his Moral Majority who lost on segregation and civil rights and subsequently led many believers astray by endorsing Reagan and yoking believers to the secular nonbelieving Republican Party.
Hello from Kenya. I just want to commend you for the job well done. I am a pastor and a theologian, trained within the Baptist seminaries in the US. I jut love the simplicity and accuracy with which you presented this lesson. Thank you.
You did one of the best and easiest explanation of the Baptist Church that I have ever seen. Very well done! You are very talented and good at what you do.
I am a Baptist from Southern Indiana and I married a beautiful Catholic woman from Boston, Massachusetts and this is the best explanation of my religion that is clear and concise. Thank you for letting me share this with her so she can understand what my beliefs are and I can better understand our commonalities and our differences. God bless you.
@@essie9500 I know Catholics who believe in the divinity of Jesus, but not the trinity. They say Jesus was fully human. To be fully human they are saying, there was no immaculate conception. Thats the same as saying Mary was pregnant by man. Which is not my belief as a Baptist.
@@deborahthompson5041 ow, those Catholics are “misinformed”….. that is NOT Catholicism at all. Catholics believe in Trinity, yes✔ Jesus as both 100% God and 100% human, yes✔ Immaculate Conception, yes✔ According to info presented in this video, the main difference seems to be baptism and Holy Communion, both of which Catholics believe as Sacraments. I thank you for your comment and hope that you accept my comment in turn. May God bless us all🙏🏻
@@essie9500 You think Catholics believe in "sola scriptura"? Of course not, and the Church and Christians existed years before scripture. Ignoring traditions, liturgy and centuries of history (including incredibly intelligent humans who created Western civilization) seems incredibly unintelligent and disrespectful.
This is very well put together and one of the few videos I have found that just presented the facts of what we believe without an agenda. Because of how honestly you represented us, I will gladly be checking out your other videos to see how you represented different denominations.
I am a Southern Baptist Pastor. Thank you for your simple explanation of our core denomination. I was a little concerned about clicking on this video for fear it would just be another hit pice. Good job.
This was a very good outline. I go to a Baptist church its more about with your relationship of the lord Jesus Chris. And i have a great relationship with the lord and he is worthy to be praised
Well done. I became a born again Christian seven years ago. Through the in dwelling of the Holy Spirit. This was a gift of God, yes I called out in the pit of my despair on the name above all names Christ Jesus. And regeneration began. I began going to a Baptist church and truly believe in their doctrine. Reading the Bible, praying and spreading the Good News I believe is essential.❤️🙏🏻
Another Reformed Baptist here. Great video, and here is the idea in even shorter form: B = Biblical Authority A = Autonomy of the local church P = Priesthood of believers T = Two ordinances, Baptism and the Lord's Supper I = Individual soul liberty S = Saved church membership T = Two offices, pastor and deacon S = Separation of Church and State
There's no such thing as reformed Baptists John Calvin would of excommunicated you. Because Baptists are premillennialist not amnillennialist, they don't give two shits about ecumenical councils, And they don't see the Lord's supper as Jesus being spiritually present and don't believe baptism replaces circumcision.
@@polycarpsmith1419 oh was that so. So if I go down to the local Catholic Church and have someone called papa but dresses like mama sprinkle me. I’m assuming I would be identify as a Catholic and a member of the Catholic Church.? Well dearly beloved and bless your little P picking heart whenever our beloved the Lord and Savior went down to the Jordan River to be baptized. He was baptized by a man that God called John the Baptist. As such, I would assume that Jesus was being identified with the first Baptist.
@@markfrye4723 It's all very simple: *The Papacy and the Catholic Church Established by Christ* Christ said He is the head of the Church unto all things. And, the Church HE instituted is the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Christ built the Church on Simon Peter and gave to Peter the power to bind and loosen in Christ's visible absence, saying: Christ said to Simon Peter, *"YOU ARE ROCK"* NOT, "I am Rock" . Matt. 16 vs 15-18 15 “But you,” he said to them, “who do you say I am?” 16 Shim‘on KEFA answered, “You are the Mashiach, the Son of the living God.” 17 “Shim‘on Bar-Yochanan,” Yeshua said to him, “how blessed you are! For no human being revealed this to you, no, it was my Father in heaven. 18 *I also tell you this: YOU ARE KEFA,” [which means ‘Rock,’] “and on this rock I will build my Community, and the gates of Sh’ol will NOT overcome it.* 19 *I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever YOU prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and whatever YOU permit on earth will be permitted in heaven* .” *THE JEWISH BIBLE* www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matt.16&version=CJB Thus Christ giving Peter the power to bind and loosen in all matters of faith and morals, despite the haters of authority. Moreover, In Acts 15 the Jewish Apostles in union with Simon Peter condemned anyone who would use and abuse Christ's gospel to preach Moses, as the Adventists do. In Acts 15, all the *JEWISH APOSTLES, by the mouth of the Holy Spirit* freed all Gentile Christians from any obligation to live in any manner after the manner taught by Moses and are NOW CONDEMNED. They who preach Sabbath keeping *don't keep the Sabbath themselves!!!!**** Thus, Christ named Simon Peter, "Rock" and gave to Peter, the power to bind and loosen in Christ's visible absence. To show you how desperate and angry the Sabbath keepers have become at Christ and His Church, they have stooped to calling Christians Satan and Sun Worshipers, just like the venomous Sabbath keepers of Christ's time. And, now they baptize and RE-baptize Christians using Christ's name to baptize them into MOSES. *1Corinthians 10:2* The SDA has become the home of every mean and hateful bird. Then, they tell the world how holy they are and how they never sin but keep the Sabbath and the Ten Commandments. What hypocrisy. Small wonder they don't believe in Eternal punishment. After Christ declares that Simon is the Rock, upon which He will build His Church, Christ knowing the tactics of Satan, puts to open shame the mouths of the heretics, with this promise , that *"The Gates of Hell shall NOT prevail over the Church"* as the heretics would claim!!! Then Christ further gives to Peter the power to bind and loosen for Christ, in His visible absence, with the promise Christ Himself would guarantee the words of Peter are bound in Heaven! (Mt.16:16-19) Christ commanded His Church to be Catholic, saying "Go and preach the gospel in to all the world and make disciples of ALL NATIONS! (Mt. 28:) And, that is what the Church did as He commanded them. *Christ is the head of the Church- Christ Himself instituted the Church (Eph.**1:22**) making Himself the head of the Catholic Church until He Comes Again* And, once more Christ says, to Peter and the Apostles, "Lo, I am with you even unto the end of the world", (Mt. 28) vowing He would never leave or forsake the Church, *putting to shame the voices of the heretics and the false prophets.*Christ said these things to no other Church, than the Catholic Church. And, lastly the Apostle Paul by the mouth of the Holy Spirit wrote to the Church of Rome in his Epistle called Romans these crushing words to all the haters of the Church of Rome: *The God of Peace will crush Satan under the Church of Rome's Feet* ” Rom.16 vs 20!!
@@markfrye4723 The Church came before the Bible. There is much more involved in a True Baptism than water. You missed the Exorcism prayers and anointing with holy oil blessed by an Apostolic Bishop for starters. Did John baptize the Apostles? It's not in the Bible.
I didn't grow up in church and I read the Bible in prison which changed my life. I recently joined a Baptist church but I didn't know what Baptist was. I watched this video and it said the exact truths I saw in the Bible and what I 100% belive. I guess I have always been Baptist only thinking it was non denominational
Jesus told Peter, Upon this rock ( Peter's faith ) I will build my church, Viz., the church of the Lord Jesus Christ, not a Baptist nor Catholic named church or denomination.

"Cephas, (Peter in the Greek) is the Rock, " we showed that the early Church Fathers recognized that Peter is the rock of whom Christ spoke when he said, "You are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church." In this pamphlet we will spell out some of the implications of that fact. Christ said to Peter, *YOU ARE ROCK*, not I am Rock. You all can't get the simplest things correct. fact that Peter was made the foundation of the Church had practical implications, as it gave him a special place or primacy among the apostles. As the passages below demonstrate, the early Church Fathers clearly recognized this as well. Clement of Alexandria "[T]he blessed Peter, *the chosen, the pre-eminent, the first among the disciples* , for whom alone with himself the Savior paid the tribute [Matt. 17:27], quickly grasped and understood their meaning. And what does he say? `Behold, we have left all and have followed you'" [Matt. 19:27; Mark 10:28] (Who Is the Rich Man That is Saved? 21:3-5 [A.D. 200]). Tertullian "For though you think *that heaven is still shut up, remember that the Lord left the keys of it to Peter here, and Through him to the Church* , which keys everyone will carry with him if he has been questioned and made a confession [of faith]" (Antidote Against the Scorpion 10 [A.D. 211]). Tertullian "[T]he Lord said to Peter, ' *On this rock* I will build my Church, I have given you the keys of the kingdom of heaven [and] whatever you shall have bound or loosed on earth will be bound or loosed in heaven' [Matt. 16:18-19] . . . *Upon YOU* he says, I will build my Church; and *I will give to you the keys, not to the Church*; and *whatever YOU shall have bound or YOU shall have loosed, NOT what they shall have bound or they shall have loosed* " (Modesty 21:9-10 [A.D. 220]). The Letter of Clement to James "Be it known to you, my lord, that Simon [Peter], who, for the sake of the true faith, and the most sure *foundation of his doctrine, was set apart to be the foundation of the Church, and for this end was by Jesus Himself*, with His truthful mouth, named Peter, the first-fruits of our Lord, *the first of the apostles* ; to whom first the Father revealed the Son; whom the Christ, with good reason, blessed; the called, and elect" (Letter of Clement to James 2 [A.D. 221]) Origin "[I]f we were to attend carefully to the gospels, we should also find, in relation to those things which seem to be common to Peter . . . a great difference and a preeminence in the things [Jesus] said to Peter, compared with the second class [of apostles]. *For it is no small difference that Peter received the keys not of one heaven but of more, and in order that whatsoever things he binds on earth may be bound not in one heaven but in them all, as compared with the many who bind on earth and loose on earth*, so that these things are bound and loosed not in [all] the heavens,* as in the case of Peter, but in one only; for they do not reach so high a stage with power as Peter to bind and loose in all the heavens* " (Commentary on Matthew 13:31 [A.D. 248]). Cyprian of Carthage "The Lord says to Peter: 'I say to you,' he says, 'that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church' . . . On him [Peter] he builds the Church, and to him he gives the command to feed the sheep [John 21:17], and although he assigns a like power to all the apostles,* yet he founded a single chair* [cathedra], and he established by his own authority a source and an intrinsic reason for that unity. Indeed, the others were that also which Peter was [i.e., apostles], *but a primacy is given to Peter, whereby it is made clear that there is but one Church and one chair*. So too, all [the apostles] are shepherds, and the flock is shown to be one, fed by all the apostles in single-minded accord. *If someone does not hold fast to this unity of Peter, can he imagine that he still holds the faith* ? If he [should] desert the chair of Peter upon whom the Church was built, can he still be confident that he is in the Church?" (The Unity of the Catholic Church 4; 1st edition [A.D. 251]). Cyril of Jerusalem "The Lord is loving toward men, swift to pardon but slow to punish. Let no man despair of his own salvation. *Peter, the first and foremost of the apostles*, denied the Lord three times before a little servant girl, but he repented and wept bitterly" (Catechetical Lectures 2:19 [A.D. 350]). Cyril of Jerusalem "[Simon Magus] so deceived the city of Rome that Claudius erected a statue of him . . .While the error was extending itself, Peter and Paul arrived, a noble pair and the rulers of the Church, and they set the error aright. . . . [T]hey launched the weapon of their like-mindedness in prayer against the Magus, and struck him down to earth. It was marvelous enough, and yet no marvel at all, for Peter was there--he that carries about the keys of heaven [Matt. 16:19]" (ibid., 6:14). Cyril of Jerusalem "In the power of the same Holy Spirit, Peter, both the chief of the apostles and the keeper of the keys of the kingdom of heaven, in the name of Christ healed Aeneas the paralytic at Lydda, which is now called Diospolis" [Acts 9:32-34] (ibid., 17:27). Ephraim the Syrian "[Jesus said:] Simon, my follower, I have made you the foundation of the holy Church. I betimes called you Peter, because you will support all its buildings. You are the inspector of those who will build on Earth a Church for me. If they should wish to build what is false, you, the foundation, will condemn them. You are the head of the fountain from which my teaching flows; you are the chief of my disciples. Through you I will give drink to all peoples. Yours is that life-giving sweetness which I dispense. I have chosen you to be, as it were, the first-born in my institution so that, as the heir, you may be executor of my treasures. I have given you the keys of my kingdom. Behold, I have given you authority over all my treasures" (Homilies 4:1 [A.D. 351]). Ambrose of Milan "[Christ] made answer: 'You are Peter, and upon this rock will I build my Church . . .' Could he not, then, strengthen the faith of the man to whom, acting on his own authority, he gave the kingdom, whom he called the rock, thereby declaring him to be the foundation of the Church [Matt. 16:18]?" (The Faith 4:5 [A.D. 379]). > !!
I grew up and baptized in a Baptist Church and taught from the Scofield KJV Bible. Saved and Love the Fellowship I have found in every service attended at any Baptist congregation. Praise Lord Jesus. ❤
Very comprehensive and thorough explanation of Baptists. My father, both my grandfathers, and one of my uncles were Baptist ministers. My mother and grandmother sang and played piano in the church.
After trying for so long to wrestle with Lutheran doctrine to find a way it can fit with what the Bible says, I find it so refreshing to see the correct theology of the Bible summarized so beautifully in Baptist beliefs.
A local baptist church started a bus ministry when I was a kid and our parents sent us to church where we heard the Gospel straight from scripture. It was there I believed and was saved somewhere around the age of 10 or 12. I wandered for the next 30 years until I returned to a contemporary non denominational church who’s beliefs were fairly aligned with the baptist church where I was baptized. That church dissolved after 13 years and I returned to a local baptist church I had framed (oddly enough) during my wandering. This video was very revealing to me of the things I’ve believed but never gave much thought to, first and foremost, the Bible is God’s ultimate authority. Thanks for making it.
I was raised Baptist. I believe all of what you shared was exactly what I learned as a child. One thing, as an adult believer, I don’t understand is the role of the Holy Spirit in the Baptist Church. He is a silent partner in this denomination. He holds an equal place in the trinity, but is seldom, if ever, spoken of.
I was also raised Baptist and can 100% agree with you on the Holy Spirit. I know it doesn’t make them any less Christian, but feel if I had stayed in a Baptist church I would be missing out on certain spiritual blessings.
💯 Was raised Southern Baptist. As I searched for a deeper relationship with Christ I know longer hold to a denomination and have learned of the Spirit that is not taught in the Baptist church. That being said no denomination is 100 percent correct we are all learning.
Very good video . Im happy to say that i have been born again and have salvation through Jesus Christ . I joined a local Baptist church after my wife and i got married . I enjoyed the video and liked the drawings and cutouts that you did . God bless
Pretty accurate. I’m a Confessional 1689 Reformed Baptist. We do view that the Lord’s Supper and Baptism are sacraments. We hold to the view that Calvin espoused, that the New Testament sacraments are means of grace in the sense that Christ is present with us when practicing.
Plenty of southern Baptists also believe that the ordinances are means of grace too. Also, many Baptists, for good or bad, don't believe in inerrancy. This video is definitely painting with very broad strokes and making a lot of particular claims for a fairly diverse tradition.
I live behind 1st SB church in my neighborhood & my fondest memories was going to it with my family & I was saved & baptized in 1969 But the Hippy movement came & did that lifestyle move on from it during the disco scene movement & did that. Each lifestyle was very un-fulling. I was thinking of marriage in the late 70's was going with a young lady who I thought was going to be my wife & we started attending a large denominational church, but my lady friend changed her mind about marriage & I was heartbroken since I rededicated my life to Christ & wanted to leave the church again but I made a promise to God that if he have me back I was back for good after a lot prayers & seeking guidance from my pastor & other Christian friends I hung in there about a year later God Answer my prayers met my wife & come June will be married 44 years. Even though I attend a Assembly of God church now I still at here to my Baptist roots I believe in Holy Trinty & the Great Commission Love the Lord Jesus Christ with all of my heart
I grew up and was saved in a Southern Baptist Church. There was a point a t which I had to leave over the Non-Belief in the gifts of the spirit. So many churches have lost their way, and it shows.
@@knothead5 Not only that then you have to ask yourself why did half a million leave the convention in 2022? Something is not right, or you would be filling the pews. I notice people flock to "The Chosen" and it is not even a real story about Jesus.
Im Independent Baptist. We don’t believe you have to be part of any church other than your own temple for the Holy Spirt. When two or more gather in his Name, he is with us. Thats his promise.
I just love your comment, its honoust and true. I am a Protestant, non American and we have some traditions and historic ways different to baptists. However, we are all part of the same tree that have the same roots.
@@markfrye4723no it's not. Baptist churches don't teach the whole truth. They never have. Once saved always saved Is easily debunked just through the words of Jesus. Baptist don't believe in freewill. They say they do but they change the definition to make it fit their beliefs. Basically TULIP is false teaching that is present in EVERY Baptist Church. It doesn't take much to actually look and see that. I was saved in an Assembly of God church. I'm grateful for that. But after going to ministry school amd studying the Bible seeking truth i found that they too are incorrect in some of their teachings. But you cannot and will not see the errors until you seek the Truth as it is and for what it is. That means you have to put your own ideas amd thoughts aside and look at it without bias. THATS THE HARDEST THING YOU WILL EVER DO IS ADMIT THAT YOU ARE OR MAYBE WRONG. But if you wa t to see the truth then you hace to humble yourself to do so. And that's exactly why there is so many different denominations because few are willing to do that. It's easier to accept what is taught behind the pulpit without question. I would encourage you to seek the Truth for yourself.
It was a very good presentation however, the history of the Baptist was not clearly presented. I will like to humbly suggest you read the "Trail of Blood" book. It's a small red coloured book with the history of the Baptist. By the way, great presentation!😊
Pretty good explanation without getting too much into detail of the doctrine. I grew up a Southern Baptist however we are separated into three conventions now in Texas. I align with Texas Baptist as they are more in line with my personal beliefs.
Correction, Baptist theology did not begin in 1609 by John Smith, as a "named denomination" it was around as the "annaBaptists" as far back as 1522. The doctrine, however, was established by Christ and has been practiced since then. Also, the Southern Baptist Convention is not filled with "autonomous" churches, they are all a part of the same structure. The missions giving goes to the convention and they divide it as they see fit to the missionaries. Independent Baptist churches send their congregations' financial support directly to the missionaries of their choosing.
The Baptist theology was created much later than Jesus. Baptist have believes that were not believed by 1st, 2nd or 3rd century Christians or any Christians for over 1500 years.
I could be wrong on this, but I think the Southern Baptist Convention is an affiliation of churches with a fair amount of freedom to support missionaries on their own and providing an agreed amount from their coffers for certain mission works, lobbying, and other things over seen or run by the convention itself.
@@duradim1 sounds correct, but they still pay overhead to an organization. The "convention" isn't how the early church was set up, nor is it following the pattern of the early church. I like knowing that our church sends the money directly to the missionaries we have chosen to support. Nothing is skimmed off the top to pay the salaries and overhead of what is essentially bureaucratic waste.
@@Penny_Pincher_Outdoors doesn't the Bible mention collections being taken from the churches to help support other churches who were being persecuted by the religious and government authorities? Yes, it does. I believe in the book of Acts and some of Paul's writings he mentions collections being taken up for others. And don't confuse the word "church" as being singular only, as many churches form one church body. I don't think the Lord has issues with associations being formed. I think He has issues with them becoming corrupt and usurping His authority.
I agree. The Baptists faith/origin cannot be traced to a specific man (Joseph Smith, as stated in this video) except for the Lord Jesus Christ and it was passed down to the Apostles (establishment of the Church according to the Book of Acts). I also believe that Baptists were not from the protestants denomination
Well done! You've done your homework - and this was a fine presentation on Baptist belief. I've been exposed to other denominations - Catholicism, Lutheranism, Methodism, etc. - yet I returned to the, "-ism," of family tradition, "Baptistism." I don't count myself a theologian or scholar - but as I followed your presentation of Baptist belief, all I could do was nod at the tenets you mentioned. I was looking to note some inaccuracy, some points of contention: I found none. I do regret the schisms in the Church of Jesus Christ: He is our universal Saviour and His Spirit binds us despite our differences. Still, this video does quite well in expressing what Baptists believe.
Great video! I like the impartiality. There are many other Christian traditions that follow the tenants of Baptists but call themselves something else.
Great summary! However, didn’t the English Baptists derive through the Anabaptists on the continent, which arose out of the influence of Huss in Prague? Also, Anabaptists (among them: Mennonites I think) were concurrent with Luther, Calvin and Zwingli (none of whom appreciated their distinctives). If this is true, their lineage predates English Puritanism. Regardless, great videos - keep ‘’em coming!
Baptists believe that people should read scripture for themselves and let the Holy Spirit guide them. So the rules are a little more interpretive than in most churches.
James 2:17-24, Faith alone is dead without works. 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

@@Brookenjubalmorningeven then, there are non denominations that are false teachings. But I myself am in one because for sure the denomination churches are false teachings, so even with non denomination you have to be careful and finding that they teach sound doctrine.

This is a spot on description of my denom. I agree, but I'm curious about what makes denoms different, and why christians are divided.
Baptist is never protested to other denominations. Baptist exists since Jesus Christ build the first Church or Ekklesia ( the called out assembly of God)
@@duradim1 Not a very good attempt. Show me in the first century WHO led the Baptist denomination. Show me the interrelationship to the early church since they were obviously outside. Then take me to the second century and show the leadership, and location of this denomination/. Third century right until the 17th century when it really began. Then explain why no secular (unbiased) historical source ever heard of your denomination until the 17th century. Or, admit the lie.
@@bridgefin our relationship with God is built on faith on what He has revealed. Do we agree on that first and foremost? Over time, God revealed more about Jesus that others may have not known at an earlier time. Do we agree on that? There were no denominations from the beginning except one, the denomination of Faith, that is faith in God's revelation to mankind. Along the way man started to add extra's to God's Word and that is where the denominations came into being. You will never convince me that that everyone believed those lies when they were first told. They were rejected by many who were slaughtered because they refused to believe those same lies. So I don't need to prove anything to you or anyone else. The Baptist didn't call themselves Baptist, the corrupted church (the second denomination) did. And for the most part, Baptist and others called by different names are nothing more than people who believe in the authority of scripture and the finished work of Christ who paid for the sins of mankind on that cross 2,000 years ago. That is the point I'm trying to make.
Thank you for your work. I would agree with most of what you shared. The biggest difference would be your contention that Baptists are Protestant in origin. On that point we would differ.

@@romeobugarin8589 Thanks, Romeo. The Bible tells me that my salvation comes from the LORD. I trust that to be true. May we worship the LORD in Spirit and in Truth.
Non US Atheist here. Great explanation. Baptists are the minority in my part of the world and I never really knew how they differed from other protestant denominations.
Correction my friend. I am a Baptist at the age of 18. Baptist Church is NOT a Protestant Christian Denominational Church which came from the Roman Catholic Church whose head Pope Francis said, all religions are all path to heaven. Christ Jesus is the ONLY way to heaven.
They came from Protestants and embrace the Reformation Solas. (The first Baptist congregation was established in Holland in 1609 by John Smyth, a minister from the Church of England.)
Not a Baptist, Protestant, Dutch reformed. So older denomination with different traditions. However, your video is so well explained and I do understand the history behind the baptist movement. All branches of the same tree, with the same root. We can all be proud to be Christians.
It is my understanding that Baptists generally teach that the gifts of the Spirit ended with the Apostolic church and are not active in the church today. This is in stark contrast to what the scriptures actually teach and what we can observe in many modern churches.
WRONG! The gifts of the spirit are wisdom, knowledge, faith healing, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, speaking in tongues, and interpretation of tongues. When the Bible talks about unknown tongues, it saying that they spoke in a tongue that was unknown to them, but the people that were standing their understanding because they were speaking in their language, which was known by the person speaking it. Not a bunch of jabber, jabber and running around like an Indian and a rain dance. Get back in the Bible when the gospel the old time religion! And by the way, our beloved Northern Xavier Jesus Christ was a baptism himself when he went down to get baptized he didn’t go to the Lutheran Church. He didn’t go to the printer. He didn’t go to the Catholic Church. He went to John the Baptist!
@@markfrye4723 Actually Paul does speak of unknown tongues that men do not understand, but only God. 1Co 14:2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. Paul gives different examples of speaking in tongues, one on Pentecost where they were speaking in men's tongues as a testimony that this was what was spoken of by the prophet Joel. And others where the tongues were in a language only God could understand, or one who had the gift of interpretation. This is why Paul said in 1Co chapter 14 that tongues were for a sign to unbelievers (other languages) and then a few verses down, he said that they would think you were crazy if you spoke in tongues (unknown) in church. Two types. Both valid gifts of the Spirit.
@@markfrye4723thank you… my understanding is a lot of those gifts are no longer necessary once we were given access to the Holy Spirit. It’s also my understanding that we no longer have prophecy like they did in the Bible because now we have the can of scripture. I would love to know your thoughts on this …
The scriptures teach the following about spiritual gifts: -The miraculous gifts have ceased because they played a particular role in redemptive history in accrediting the ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:22; Heb. 2:4). The apostles and those closely associated with them performed “signs and wonders” and miracles to confirm the gospel they proclaimed (Acts 2:43; 4:30; 5:12; 6:8; 14:3; 15:12; Rom. 15:19; 2 Cor. 12:12). I am not denying that God in his sovereignty may choose to grant such signs and wonders in a particular situation. The church is “built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets” (Eph. 2:20). The foundation for the church has been laid once-for-all, and thus there are no longer prophets and apostles functioning as authoritative messengers. As the epistle of Jude (v. 3) says, “the faith … was delivered to the saints once for all.” We read in the epistle to the Hebrews that “in these last days … God has spoken to us by his Son” (Heb. 1:2). The final and definitive word has been declared, and thus there is no need for apostles and prophets and tongues, nor do we need signs, wonders, and miracles to accredit the message.
From what I hear, OFWB are a lot closer to the first Baptist than are many who call themselves Baptist today. But we must keep focused on the Kingdom of God and not get distracted by denominational names.
Im 56 and grandparents in S. Texas were hardcore Baptists. In the 70's we were taught not to dance, drink and to hate all other race's than white. One of my relatives got so screwed up he put a butcher's knife in his gut to die for people's sins like JC. He has since recovered and wised up. I have also and although I do not attend church I believe in God, I pray some and am spiritual. I had to grow up and make my own path and I am glad I did.
Good thing independent Baptist and associated with that have nothing to do with the southern Baptist. And the independent Baptist didn’t start to 1600. Does this man started here he started out in the wilderness with John the Baptist lifting up his voice and crying loud and spare not!
Interesting video. It is guesstimated there are about 700 groups (denominations) that use the word Baptist. There are some that are Seventh Day Baptists that hold Saturday as the sabbath. On thing for Southern Baptists is their extensive missionary work supported by offerings each year. Used to be two; one for foreign missions and one for home missions. Now it's combined into one designated offering at the end of the year.
You did a good job in describing the Baptist. But this is very reason that I am not one. Once saved always saved is false teaching by the word. I am however a true Christian believing and doing ALL of the Word, not just what is easy. I do pray that those who watch this will confirm what I say with the Word.
Salvation is of the Lord, not of man, and Jesus said he would not lose a single one of his! He said no man plug you out of my hand that would include you! Matter fact, you even said to turn a one over to the devil for destruction of the body said that the soul could still be saved. Get back the Bible back the old gospel in the old religion!
@ Larry, I believe that would be a work salvation in the Bible is clear. It’s either all of works or it’s all of grace. If that were true, pray tell me who baptized the thief that’s on the cross in Jesus said today you’ll be with me in paradise? If that were true, tell me who baptized Abraham, Isaac Jacob, etc… Hell even Moses would say by not getting wet! You mean to tell me that it took for Jesus to be baptized to be saved…. BLASPHEMY! There’s many illustrations in the Bible of individuals that were saved without being baptized, the penitent woman and Luke chapter 7, the paralytic man and Matthew chapter 9, the publican and Luke chapter 18 and the aforementioned thief on the cross. Only thing you’re proving here is you don’t even know anything about the Bible and you’re preaching a blasphemous workbase salvation that’s damning the souls of men and women who are going to hell and the only difference is is that they’re wet! You goddamn right Maggie believe that in separation of church and state, they believe that the state doesn’t have any role to play in the church or religion!
1:52 it is important to note the separation of church and state issue was most relevant and important at the founding of the US as a nation of states. In other countries there were state authorized churches. England had the Church of England, the German states had the Lutheran church, then several countries only recognized the Roman Catholic Church such as France, Spain, Switzerland, etc. Baptist ministers sent Jefferson letters regarding their concerns about a “state church.” No one would be obligated to attend a state church but if there was one, history said there would only be one denomination.
Good news, and hello from someone who worked in law enforcement in Lincoln Parish.
What is the good news?
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: *but unto them which be disobedient,* the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8 *And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.*

Instead of fulfilling the Great Commission, they want to build a wall and deport them to keep them out.

@@markfrye4723 It's all very simple:
*The Papacy and the Catholic Church Established by Christ*
Christ said He is the head of the Church unto all things.
Matt. 16 vs 15-18 15 “But you,” he said to them, “who do you say I am?”
16 Shim‘on KEFA answered, “You are the Mashiach, the Son of the living God.”
17 “Shim‘on Bar-Yochanan,” Yeshua said to him, “how blessed you are! For no human being revealed this to you, no, it was my Father in heaven.
18 *I also tell you this: YOU ARE KEFA,” [which means ‘Rock,’] “and on this rock I will build my Community, and the gates of Sh’ol will NOT overcome it.*
19 *I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever YOU prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and whatever YOU permit on earth will be permitted in heaven* .” *THE JEWISH BIBLE* www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matt.16&version=CJB
Thus Christ giving Peter the power to bind and loosen in all matters of faith and morals, despite the haters of authority.
They who preach Sabbath keeping *don't keep the Sabbath themselves!!!!****
Thus, Christ named Simon Peter, "Rock" and gave to Peter, the power to bind and loosen in Christ's visible absence. *1Corinthians 10:2*
The SDA has become the home of every mean and hateful bird.
(Mt.16:16-19)
Christ commanded His Church to be Catholic, saying "Go and preach the gospel in to all the world and make disciples of ALL NATIONS!

Clement of Alexandria
"[T]he blessed Peter, *the chosen, the pre-eminent, the first among the disciples* , for whom alone with himself the Savior paid the tribute [Matt. 17:27], quickly grasped and understood their meaning. And what does he say? `Behold, we have left all and have followed you'" [Matt. 19:27; Mark 10:28] (Who Is the Rich Man That is Saved? 21:3-5 [A.D. 200]).
Tertullian
"For though you think *that heaven is still shut up, remember that the Lord left the keys of it to Peter here, and Through him to the Church* , which keys everyone will carry with him if he has been questioned and made a confession [of faith]" (Antidote Against the Scorpion 10 [A.D. 211]).
Tertullian
"[T]he Lord said to Peter, ' *On this rock* I will build my Church, I have given you the keys of the kingdom of heaven [and] whatever you shall have bound or loosed on earth will be bound or loosed in heaven' [Matt. 16:18-19] . . . *Upon YOU* he says, I will build my Church; and *I will give to you the keys, not to the Church*; and *whatever YOU shall have bound or YOU shall have loosed, NOT what they shall have bound or they shall have loosed* " (Modesty 21:9-10 [A.D. 220]).
The Letter of Clement to James
"Be it known to you, my lord, that Simon [Peter], who, for the sake of the true faith, and the most sure *foundation of his doctrine, was set apart to be the foundation of the Church, and for this end was by Jesus Himself*, with His truthful mouth, named Peter, the first-fruits of our Lord, *the first of the apostles* ; to whom first the Father revealed the Son; whom the Christ, with good reason, blessed; the called, and elect" (Letter of Clement to James 2 [A.D. 221])
Origin
"[I]f we were to attend carefully to the gospels, we should also find, in relation to those things which seem to be common to Peter . . . a great difference and a preeminence in the things [Jesus] said to Peter, compared with the second class [of apostles]. 248]).
Cyprian of Carthage
"The Lord says to Peter: 'I say to you,' he says, 'that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church' . . 251]).
Cyril of Jerusalem
"The Lord is loving toward men, swift to pardon but slow to punish. Let no man despair of his own salvation. *Peter, the first and foremost of the apostles*, denied the Lord three times before a little servant girl, but he repented and wept bitterly" (Catechetical Lectures 2:19 [A.D. 350]).
Cyril of Jerusalem
"[Simon Magus] so deceived the city of Rome that Claudius erected a statue of him . . .While the error was extending itself, Peter and Paul arrived, a noble pair and the rulers of the Church, and they set the error aright. . . . [T]hey launched the weapon of their like-mindedness in prayer against the Magus, and struck him down to earth. It was marvelous enough, and yet no marvel at all, for Peter was there--he that carries about the keys of heaven [Matt. 16:19]" (ibid., 6:14).
Cyril of Jerusalem
"In the power of the same Holy Spirit, Peter, both the chief of the apostles and the keeper of the keys of the kingdom of heaven, in the name of Christ healed Aeneas the paralytic at Lydda, which is now called Diospolis" [Acts 9:32-34] (ibid., 17:27).
Ephraim the Syrian
"[Jesus said:] Simon, my follower, I have made you the foundation of the holy Church. 351]).
Ambrose of Milan
"[Christ] made answer: 'You are Peter, and upon this rock will I build my Church . . .' Could he not, then, strengthen the faith of the man to whom, acting on his own authority, he gave the kingdom, whom he called the rock, thereby declaring him to be the foundation of the Church [Matt. 16:18]?" (The Faith 4:5 [A.D. 379]).

Scofield is indeed heresy.
This is very good. More grace to you brother!
Excellent presentation. Clear, concise, unbiased. Well done.

So the devil has you? Sad. Repent before it’s to late.
You always do such a good job❤ thanks for your time and effort 👍

Interesting and thank you for sharing your perspective.
As a Baptist, I say Amen to this! 👍✌️
Very comprehensive and thorough explanation of Baptists. My father, both my grandfathers, and one of my uncles were Baptist ministers. My mother and grandmother sang and played piano in the church.
very good video you nailed it I attend a Baptist Church . Thanks for the video.
Thank you for a succinct explanation! 🙏
After trying for so long to wrestle with Lutheran doctrine to find a way it can fit with what the Bible says, I find it so refreshing to see the correct theology of the Bible summarized so beautifully in Baptist beliefs.
The funniest thing is that the pride that it takes to believe that you think you have the correct theology.

Wonderful bro, thank you.
Yes, I am Baptist.
From India.
Great video. It has helped clarify details on my new journey to God🙏
Great explanation
Your explanation is very authentic and superb.. it's amazing..its not boring at all..thank you.😊
I was raised Baptist.
I don’t condemn, and I feel like I have the best Christian foundation, I just am sad that the Holy Spirit is ignored (or at least never spoken of).
@@kamidsjournee Agreed. The Baptist church set a firm foundation for me as well.

Thank you, I never knew this!
Very informative.

Awesome job, you did a great job explaining it all.
Good explaination
Michael Haykin book about baptist history is also a great reference in explaining baptist origins, ty
This sounds very good! I didn't know this.
Excellent video. Can you made one about Sephardic Jews?
Great summary!
However, didn’t the English Baptists derive through the Anabaptists on the continent, which arose out of the influence of Huss in Prague?
Also, Anabaptists (among them: Mennonites I think) were concurrent with Luther, Calvin and Zwingli (none of whom appreciated their distinctives).
If this is true, their lineage predates English Puritanism.
Regardless, great videos - keep ‘’em coming!
Baptists believe that people should read scripture for themselves and let the Holy Spirit guide them. So the rules are a little more interpretive than in most churches.
Great Video!
Glad you enjoyed it 😄
James 2:17-24, Faith alone is dead without works.

Not a very good attempt.

I agree with everything, except one thing: Baptists are not Protestants.
I would love to know your thoughts on this …
@@markfrye4723that is a good rebuttal
The scriptures teach the following about spiritual gifts:
-The miraculous gifts have ceased because they played a particular role in redemptive history in accrediting the ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:22; Heb.
Great video. OFWB here, our branch does feet washing also. Thanks for sharing.
From what I hear, OFWB are a lot closer to the first Baptist than are many who call themselves Baptist today. But we must keep focused on the Kingdom of God and not get distracted by denominational names.

Yes, that pretty well describes the Southern Baptist cult I grew up in, and once believed in.

Only thing you’re proving here is you don’t even know anything about the Bible and you’re preaching a blasphemous workbase salvation that’s damning the souls of men and women who are going to hell and the only difference is is that they’re wet! Get back in the Bible get back in the old-time religion and the old-time gospel!
Read your Bible over and over again

@@keagghead hebrews 10:26-27
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

@@skylarblanton9677 not exactly 😅
@vent2God not to cause an argument but wanting an actual discussion. So do you not think that Christ was the ultimate sacrifice for sin? You think you still have to work your way to heaven?
Explains us very well
Somebody needs to tell MAGA that they believe in the separation of church and state.
What does MAGA got to do with any of this please elaborate for us
@@frankieparton5122a lot of right wing Christians are maga.
What did "MAGA" say to warrant that?
@@frankieparton5122 O Arturo, prince of irony.
You wouldn’t have Catholics, Methodists, Baptists and Lutherans, etc.
I'm from Borneo, my church is Borneo Evangelical Mission (SIB). We have exactly the same faith. Gos bless
