I heard that the foil gets dull if you put it in the laminator twice. This is a great idea! I did it last year for Christmas! I bought a Scotch Laminator at Walmart for $16 and it works great! You can also print out a whole sheet of paper with a black toner and die cut images to foil! This is really fun!
Hi Lisa I noticed you used some coloured cardstock on some of your cards, did you print directly to your coloured cardstock then run it through your laser printer? this is what I have been doing and wondered if you did the same, thanks for the demo your cards look nice.
Hi, I have tried your technique and I get a silver background as well as the silver on the writing. The silver side was up like you showed us. I need silver writing on blue card. 😀 xxx
Thanks so much for your beautiful cards!! I am just starting to make cards and foiling has caught me.I"m all set with foil, laminator and using laser printer. I'm afraid I am having trouble figuring out how to find a download? what are they called? and what type of file do I need, I see png, svg, cutting files not sure what I am looking for, for this purpose. Alot of the images I see have a lot of background ink shading ,I don't think that would work? Can you show a link to a good site to buy or free download images from so I know what I am looking for? thanks for your help and patience with my newbie question!!
Hi Lisa, I have seen your video, and I´m blown away, your cards are stunning. Can you tell me where I can buy the digital image from Heros art please ?
All videos show samples of laser printer/laminator foiling on white paper. It's safe to say, from the looks of your video, this technique can be done on any colored paper? I would think the toner doesn't have to show clear on the paper, but as long as there is toner on the paper, the foil will adhere to it?
I'm getting a residue or left over foil on my paper where there is no ink. It's not a lot, but it's still not a clean look. Any ideas why this may be happening?
So basically the trick is laser printer. It doesn't matter what kind of laminator I have. I purchased one from Aldi as well, it works for me, but now I need laser printer, ugh!
Did you use the Minc foil or the Deco foil for this demo? I couldn't get my Minc foil to stick with my cheap laminator but the Deco foil did. I tried the Minc repeatedly. :(
Have you ever used Minc foil with this laminator? All my foil is the Minc foil that I purchased from Tuesday Morning for a reduced price. (FYI I just bought a Mini Minc Machine from Tuesday Morning for $29. It is the special for August! )
katrina redford I used an hp1200. Have to use the individual feeder and not the traditional paper tray. Good luck! The each printer does have a paper setting when you go to print.
Hi Kelly! The black paper is a white piece of cardstock that you run through a laser printer, like at a copy store. If you have an image on the top glass, the image will print out on the white card stock (You load the card stock where the copy paper usually goes). If you put a black sheet of paper on the glass, the white card stock will print out totally black and you can cut letters, etc out of your now black toner based cardstock. Foil only stick to toner based images, not ink jet. You have to make sure the toner in the machine is not close to empty because I've experienced that and my foil only sticks in a few places. Hope that helps!
yes! And sticking to the rollers. I heard horror stories about doing it this way. She has a less expensive laminator so it is no big deal. I would not try that on a Minc machine!
Great tutorial, however; it didn't work. I had several sheets of card stock printed out (they had a laser copy machine) and cut out images with dies. Let my laminator get good and hot and sent Deco Foil, placed on the image correctly, through the laminator several timed-adding shims as I went to increase pressure. Nothing. I even checked the die cuts with my heat gun. The toner began to move/bubble a bit, so I am convinced it eas good. This was an epic failure. I even tried another laminator my hubby has....no luck. Any ideas?
Susan Dickson are you absolutely sure it was a laser printer? Did you put the foil on come side up? This should not if failed if those two items were right.
Lisa Furbush Thank you for your reply! I am sure about the foil placement-after failing I used the glue method (messy!). When I went to the office supply store for laser sheets the clerk/owner said the laser copier is what he used and was the same as a laser printer. Since both use toner and heat, not ink, I assume he knew what he was talking about. OH, and I have the same laminator you do! Love it!
Unfortunately I had the same problem. I took my image to FedEx and they printed my images onto my card stock. Nothing happened with the foil. Huge disappointment since I was attempting to make cards for my Grand daughter’s teacher.
je ne critique pas , je fais juste une observation , du titre par rapport au contenu de la vidéo ; mais j adore le contenu cest hyper joli : bonne année à vous aussi

Sooo pretty. Great Job!!! Where did you get the picture of the tree.
Librada - it was a digital download from Hero Arts! So pretty, huh?

Thanks for the video and all the tips! Can you please tell me what glue you were using? I'd love to have a bottle with such a fine tip. Thanks!
Stanford Griffith that is actually an attachment... I got my first one from heartfelt creations... it's a fine tip adapter for craft glue.
Thanks so much! I hate getting glue everywhere. (I also glue my fingers together every time I touch Super Glue, so that's out of the question.)

Do you know if this will work on clear adhesive vinyl?
Hi Lisa, I have seen your video, and I´m blown away, your cards are stunning. Can you tell me where I can buy the digital image from Heros art please ?
Beadingwoman Jensen I'm not sure it's available anymore... I'd search the hero arts digital files section. I did have to buy it.
Am very interested in learning this process. To print the tree and words do you print from word program to the laser printer then laminate?
Lynda renfrow you got it! Very easy and simple. Print anything on a laser printer and you are ready to go.
Thank you.
Hi, what paper & laser printer do you use?
Great tutorial - quick question, what type of paper did you use in your, laser printer?Thank you.
shellyqt just standard paper... one of the multi colored ones from michaels I believe.

Kami Nguyen this was paper from one of the combo packs at Michael's or Joanns. it's all about the toner. :)
Thank you for your response and the video. Really helpful!
Do you use any special printer settings? I have a Brother laser printer. Do you use best or darkest settings?
I didn't change any settings! Just clicked print!
I'm getting a residue or left over foil on my paper where there is no ink. It's not a lot, but it's still not a clean look. Any ideas why this may be happening?
Your printer may need to have the rollers cleaned - it's picking up toner from somewhere!
Melissa Edwards deco foil. works great!
Have you ever used Minc foil with this laminator? All my foil is the Minc foil that I purchased from Tuesday Morning for a reduced price. (FYI I just bought a Mini Minc Machine from Tuesday Morning for $29. It is the special for August! )
What printer do you use? I can't find a laser printer that will print heavy cardstock.
katrina redford I used an hp1200. Have to use the individual feeder and not the traditional paper tray. Good luck! The each printer does have a paper setting when you go to print.
Hello Lisa can you explain how someone can transfer gold foil to a black paper? Thank you.
Kelly Matipa just put black paper in your laser jet printer than use your gold foil. Just make sure you know where it printed! 😀
I really appreciate that Lisa.
Hi Kelly! The black paper is a white piece of cardstock that you run through a laser printer, like at a copy store. Isn't there a danger of this method getting wrapped around the laminator rollers?
yes! And sticking to the rollers. I heard horror stories about doing it this way. She has a less expensive laminator so it is no big deal. I would not try that on a Minc machine!
I don't have a laser printer. Can I do this with an inkjet printer?
Ivette Ortiz unfortunately not. you can print on your inkjet and then copy it on a copier or take it to staples and copy it.
I am so sorry but where did you say you got this laminator?
Beth Maciaszek that one actually came from Aldi's. I think it was $10 or $14 dollars!
hi I went on hero arts and the swirl tree is a stencil is that what you used. I didn't see any downloads I will look again, they are beautiful cards
Lena Botello this is a digital image not a stencil. I might have to go check the stencil out though!
Great tutorial, however; it didn't work. I had several sheets of card stock printed out (they had a laser copy machine) and cut out images with dies. Try it again without the shim. It's not necessary however, just use parchment paper only as a carrier folder and see how that works for you.
Unfortunately I had the same problem. I took my image to FedEx and they printed my images onto my card stock. Nothing happened with the foil. Huge disappointment since I was attempting to make cards for my Grand daughter’s teacher.
Try skipping the shim...Do just your image and the foil. I do this weekly and have no issues! I'm sorry it's not working for you. -Lisa
thankyou so much
is this a monochrome laser printer?
I used an HP1200 laserjet printer - monochrome.
please can i get the download for the tree...thanks
vivian cunningham it is a hero arts digital image that I purchased. I'm sorry, I cannot share it.
i purchased it also, can't get it to work, the seller is working with me on this.
WHAT IS THE TEMPERATURE TO FOIL???
GRAPHIX PRINTERS I really don't know. My laminator has a hot or cold setting. I wonder if the minc, that has five settings, lists the temperatures?
Very Pretty Card! Thank You For sharing! Subscribe to your channel...
