Great video, just a quick question, if you dehydrate the liver for 24hrs will this not take the nutrients out of this, as you are not meant to over cook it with long standing heat. Thanks
Hi there! This is kind of a two part answer.... you will lose some nutritional value, as you do with any food cooked, however because the temperature to dehydrate is low enough you won't lose much. Liver is such a nutrient dense food that the small amount that you do lose in the dehydration process is ok because you are still getting so many great vitamins in this super food!
Awesome diy. Just wondering if the high rpm of a blender is lowering the nutrional density of the liver? For example a blender vs a masticating jucier produces 2 different qualities of juices.
According to the National Center for Home Food Preservation, dehydrated meats should only be kept in the pantry/room temperature for up to 2 weeks. However, you can keep it in the refrigerator or freezer for up to a year. I will say that I am kind of a rebel and I have kept mine in my pantry for well over 6 months and have not had a problem!
@@theranchershomestead8497hello! I forgot to ask, shouldn't we cook the liver before dehydrating & powder? I was thinking, since it's just dehydrated it's basically raw? Sorry I don't really understand how it works
@@helenapatrica6594 What makes meat "raw" is how much moisture it has in it. Remove the moisture, no longer "raw" in the dehydrating sense of the word.
I slow boil, cut in chunks, then dehydrate beef hearts. I've had jars stored for well over a year and keep one for current use (I add to rice for protein since my kids eat lots of rice). I've never had any issue with mold, off smells, or anyone getting sick. I use it as sort of a bullion for flavor but to add extra nutrients and protein to meals.
So I have found nothing topical will work because it has to start within. Gut healing is the way to completely heal from eczema for good. Because I have celiac I knew gluten was the cause of her eczema but it wasn't enough to just remove gluten. I had to remove all inflammatory foods (gluten, dairy, sugar, dyes, preservatives etc) Then I added in gut healing foods like probiotic foods, beef liver, a probiotic. I just researched foods that were gut healing. It was a journey for sure!
That is a long time to be in the heat. I'm wondering if you're losing more of it's nutritional elements doing it this way, than you are when cooking it in a pan for 3-5 minutes. Anyone know?
Since the heat is low enough, it doesn't lose any more nutritional value then if you were to fry it in a pan. When you cook it in a pan, yes it is less time, but the heat is much higher. You do lose nutritional value either way you process it but according to the dietician I work with, it is not much.
@@theranchershomestead8497 160 is pretty high. I looked this up, and it say's to dehydrate at 110 if you don't want to lose too much of it's nutrients. It say's, at 160 you lose more than if you were to pan fry it. I see some other youtubers doing it at 110 as well for the same reason. And they just leave it in for longer. I guess I will have to test it. I understand your trying to be careful and follow the FDA guidelines though. I wish I had a freeze dryer!! That's why all the online supplements you can buy online, work so well. Cause they are pretty much still raw. Thank you so much for your video! I might try this.
You did a great job on this how to video. However you shouldn’t talk about what people should and shouldn’t eat because you have no nutritional education. Everything you said about nutrition was only regurgitated from others who also are not nutritionalists. Other than that, you are pleasant to listen to and knowledgeable about dehydrating. Keep up the good work.
I appreciate your feedback. Everyone is entitled to eat or not eat what they choose, I fully agree with that. I work very closely with a registered dietician/nutritionalist for information and knowledge on what foods would be wise to get into our diets both for my family and then to be able to share with others.

@@theranchershomestead8497 You're way more patient than I am. Where does this guy get the nerve telling other people they can't share their opinion on what they should eat.
You dont need nutritional education thats a typical slave mind. Animlals go straight for the liver and if its not good the dont eat the animal. The livers tast tells you everything if its bitter you dont eat if it tasts sweet you go for it raw. We are animals and its common sense we eat organs. You eat what you are made out of. Dont need no doctors or anything to tell you first.
Thanks, a really enjoyable video watching you guys from the UK!
Thank you!
Fantastic video. I have the exact machine, she gave me the push to start doing this!
You won't regret it❤️
Thank you! I knew it would be super simple but seeing it done gave me the confident push I needed to do it.
You are welcome!
I just ordered my Dehydrator, capsules and the capsule filling machine. So excited to get started.
That is awesome! I love seeing people take steps to better health!
I don't see links for all that! 😞
Got to try this
Yes! The simplest way to get beef liver into your diet!
Thank you for the info.
You are welcome!
thank you! I'm guessing this would be the same process if I would like to put beef heart/kidneys in capsule form?
Yes it would! Just make sure you cut them into thin strips so they can dehydrate evenly in the dehydrator.
Awesome video thank you! You’re super knowledgeable with health too!
Thank you!
Very good explanation thank you 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you!
Thanks 🙏
Thank you!

As for 'chunks' would it be worth using a coffee grinder instead of a blender ... have you tried that?
My vitamix blender has always worked well for me with the chunks but a coffee grinder would work great too! I have never tried it though.
