Let me know what you thought about the latest episode of Dark Matter! Thanks for the support!

This 3rd episode was more interesting than the last. I'm liking it, but don't feel as into it as I did with Constellation. I was invested in Constellation by episode 3. I'm still bummed it's not coming back.

The thing that I will miss the most about Constellation will be Noomi Rapace, for obvious reason. 😝

I think when good Jason first came back through the box, Leighton mentioned 4 people have gone through the box, but later in this episode he says 3 have gone through? Maybe im remembering wrong.

I think when Leighton said "4 people" he was including Jason.

I enjoyed episode 3! And I like your theory about the fingers because I thought it was a random part too but now maybe there will be a version of that woman with her fingers and another version without them being on the show. I’m curious how many versions of there are of Jason!

Hello Anthony, it's my first time watching your videos and I quite enjoy it, I think you are a nice smart guy and tries to keep the discussion at the same level for everyone. I really appreciate that. Also, before I start, I must say that although I kinda felt like Constellation was going to be cancelled, I was enjoying it thoroughly. It had its flaws but also some geniality which credits I must give to the directors and show runners. Anyways, let's go down to what it matters.
I was very excited with the two first episodes of Dark Matter, I must admit though that Blake Crouch's stuff are like sci-fi for teenagers in my honest opinion. I quite enjoyed the Wayward Pines book series and even the first season of the show. Having said that, I really like the cast in Dark Matter, with kudos to Alice Braga whom is probably going to participate much more from now on.
I found episode 3 quite weak and predictable, but I think Apple is doing the right thing by making some "serious" sci-fi more accessible to a broader audience, because Constellation was definitely NOT in many ways, not just theoretically speaking. About the good old Schrodinger's cat theory with the addition of chopped finger, I believe you went the right way. There will be a crucial point in the series when I can guarantee you that Jason 1 will recognise Dawn because of the fingers, and that could lead him to finally figure out the "right way" to his life, because I think it's quite obvious that the corridor will lead them to infinite life possibilities, which could be the reason Jason 2 decided to "stay"at Jason 1's universe - happiness and contentment. I think if the series goes that way it will be quite a crowd pleaser, because it sounds complex and hard to solve but it's actually really easy. So in my very honest opinion, and also by reading next episode's synopsis, I do believe this series will go light on the science bit and heavy on the thriller, with Jason and Amanda visiting various universes that co-exist, like what's going on right now with everyone including you and me.
The other way I believe the series could go is a little more complex but also more interesting. Apologies if I turn ultra-geek mode on, but I might HAVE to. In the Schrödinger's Box theory, a cat is placed in a sealed box with a radioactive atom that has a 50% chance of decaying and releasing poison that will kill the cat. Until the box is opened and observed, the cat is considered to be both alive and dead simultaneously, a concept known as quantum superposition. However, introducing a third element inside the box, such as another living being or an additional quantum system, complicates this scenario (fingers, in our case). The presence of a third element could interact with the cat and the radioactive atom, potentially causing decoherence and collapsing the superposition state prematurely. This additional complexity challenges the core idea of Schrödinger's thought experiment, which relies on the isolation and the binary nature of the cat's life-or-death state, the cat here being Jason, naturally.
Now, in order to know the outcome, we need an observer, someone to open the box and to see WTF is going on inside. So, if you allow me to be a little redundant here, it's impossible to predict what happens because, in the quantum world, particles can exist in multiple states at once (superposition) until they are observed. In the Schrödinger's cat experiment, the cat's fate (alive or dead) is tied to a random quantum event (radioactive decay) that can't be predicted with certainty. This randomness means we can only know the probabilities of different outcomes, not the actual outcome, until we observe it. The act of observation itself influences the result, making prediction impossible. Like, we know the cat will be either dead or alive, but that's it. We can't be certain.
    Let's make things worse here.
Add a third element, which is what happens in the SanTi Solar System in Netflix's 3 Body Problem...
If a third element were added to the box, it would likely interact with the cat and the radioactive atom, disturbing the system. This disturbance could cause the quantum superposition to break down (a process called decoherence), forcing the cat into a definite state of either being alive or dead before we open the box. Essentially, the third element would prevent the cat from remaining in the delicate balance of being both alive and dead simultaneously, which is crucial for the experiment's intended demonstration of quantum superposition.
(In case you're wondering, yes I am a Physicist trying to be normal lol)
OK, so, back to Dawn's fingers, dears! In other words, Dawn's fingers could be a metaphor for that variable at the very heart of the series' plot equation, a variable steeped in themes of uncertainty and potentiality but with him-them as the key active variable of observation and interaction. A character's interaction will "collapse" this multipotential state to a definite outcome for plot advancement and the disclosure of layered story meanings.
As a result, this could go very well - or terribly wrong.
Sorry if I wrote too much, blame it on the ADHD xD

In answer to your question about him cheating:
    My thoughts.
When their paths split, they became different people with seperate identities and purposes.
So, if their different people; it's cheating because that is not "him" now.

What if the fingers being in front of the door are how they know how to get back to that world? Maybe they are still laying right in front of the door they just came though essentially marking the spot

I just wrote a similar comment about WHY the fingers are important. It "marks" this particular reality. And, it's a reality where Jason & Amanda are being chased.
It's definitely a "fingerprint" for Jason & Amanda--and could show them that as they visit different realities, they must leave different marks (or fingerprints) in each reality, as a "guide" or "roadmap" for where they've been.

My thought on Dawn's fingers being cut off (and it may have been mentioned by others) is that it provides a way distinguishing this one reality from all the others. So, Jason (and Amanda) will be able to tell if they returned to the reality where they were being chased or another reality.

I just finished watching all three episodes. I like it. Really. But honestly, I'm a little sick of why Jason didn't tell from the beginning the part where he was kidnapped by someone with a mask and got injected. Even though he already realized that he hypothesized what if the one who kidnapped him was another version of himself. why didn't he explain that when he was interviewed again after he was arrested? that's really annoying
