    CONGRATS!!!, this is THE BEST LESSON I’ve ever heard on わけ. This is never clear in grammar books, and explanations are not complete, not clear, or maybe the nuances are lost most of the times. But the examples you showed are perfect. The nuances of わけ are really subtle for foreigners but I think you really nailed here. 🙏 thank you.

    …てこと seems like it could be more literally translated for "(+so, the) thing (+about that) is..." And still make perfect sense in most cases. There's actually a lot of in/formal structures like this, in Japanese, I'm stating to notice, where the literal translation still links up fine on both sides. I like to translate songs from japan. It's teaching me so much about how our two very different people are still the same, on an elemental level. Misa-Senei, you should consider doing more "learning-with-music" videos for that side-project. Your Silhouette video was like a big sister's hand guiding me, and pointing out these little things my younger self couldn't see. Your words are always welcome, be well!

    • @MarkHogan994
      @MarkHogan994 4 года назад +1

      @@200300646 Actually it is. Just like でも, btw. Because Japanese doesn't have spaces between words, it can be hard for learners to figure out if two particles together are actually two particles, or if it's an entirely different word. So generally people will learn it however it makes sense to them. The important thing is just to understand the overall sentence. But usually, when it looks like 2 particles together, it's because it is actually two particles working together.
      Even if the combination becomes so common that it seems like a word on its own, with its own particular usages, the reality is that it usually originates from two different particles, and understanding that can help you understand the various meanings better. のは is just の + は. This is why it can be used in so many different ways. If you try to memorize all the different usages and interpretations of のは, you will never ever manage to fully master or grasp this grammar point.
      The fact is that の is just nominalizing, as Misa said in this video, and は is just the usual topic marker. Particles are the building blocs of Japanese, and understanding each individual particle on a basic level will help you understand these combinations better without having to memorize them as if they're different words.

    Or is there a subtle nuance?

    • @200300646
      @200300646 4 года назад

      Sébastien Dumais Yes, most definitely there are subtle nuances. Wake has the similar nuance of saying reason and making a conclusion. So it comes off a bit stronger of feeling. Kara is just like the simple “Because” or “So”. Now the other construction is just another way to arrange a sentence.
