    (Update) I didn’t use these variants and took her advice, i used the regular one and it landed me an A on the test

    I only discovered this channel yesterday. Today on my break I saw this video and had to decide whether I would watch it and study my Japanese, or watch something that is fun and relaxing. I decided to watch this video, and I ended up learning AND having so much fun. I laughed so much! Thank you for your hard work!

    Sensei Soma is the best Japanese teacher on RUclips, by far. These videos are not only incredibly hilarious, but mind-bogglingly intelligent & helpful. I am only a shoshinsha (beginner), but I would vastly prefer to learn the correct way from the very start. I think Sensei must be an both a top academic, & also a famous actress. I am in awe of Sensei's skills! (This channel should have many more subscribers.). I'm extremely grateful for all Sensei's hard work. Domo arigatou gozaimashita! 🤩🍒

    I think "rude" is relative and subjective here... as she has mentioned, people definitely use every one of these phrases, and in more casual settings, the "rude" way is still used *very* often... even the other examples she gave are not all 100% substitutes that should be used in every case, they all have their appropriate time and place that it should be used, so I feel it's a bit disingenuous to just flat out call any of them rude when they are all used all the time, but in different situations.

    お名前伺っても宜しいでしょうか?

    • @SeizeJapanese

      That's one of very polite expressions. You can use it in business or polite situation.

    • @SeizeJapanese
      @SeizeJapanese  4 года назад +1

      However. I'd say お名前を お伺いしても よろしいでしょうか?
      If you like to use this expression. you should put を after お名前。
      and よろしいでしょうかis the politest , but 伺ってもis little bit less polite, so ↑↑↑ お伺いしても should be replaced here.
