    We've reached a time where localization doesn't just mean changing text/voice lines and in some cases product names/products, but animations/lip synching and in some aspects entire personalities to fit regions.

    • @BaconNuke
      @BaconNuke 4 года назад +1

      I assume they did some Mocap for the regions so it was more realistic for the personalities they were acting..maybe.. i realized after started typing Mocap is more for having characters look like their actors...

    • @sermerlin1
      @sermerlin1 4 года назад +3

      Well that's how localization should be. I always thought dubbed movies/shows/games in localized language are just a waste of resources that could've been sourced to more polishing or more game development.
      People should just use the damn subtitle if they want to play on their own language. I mean sure UI, controls everything text can and should be localized but not dubbed.
      If they actually source it by getting good and original localized cast and doing mocap/lip sync then why not but spending ton of money on mocap/lip sync/voice acting to just be all ruined by dubbing it for localized language is IMO sacrilege.

Even so, his facial structure just seems Asian to me. Like I said, anime characters are ethnically ambiguous. Your perspective of anime characters isn't correct nor incorrect, nor should you care! Believing Japan idolizes Western features is just cringe. You're stating something factually incorrect that constantly gets debunked. Believe what you want though, I don't care enough to provide the evidence because of pixels. Google search is your friend. Also, let's not pretend things like blonde hair and blue eyes are based on race. They are genetic mutations passed down from generation to generation. It literally has nothing to do with race, Europeans (and Indians) just happened to get it. Nothing wrong with that, though.
      Also, one google search definition of Epicanthic fold tells me you're literally wrong. Didn't know what it was prior, so it's an interesting, but fact of the day.

      SleepingDragon Agreed. Japanese emotion is so over exaggerated. Aerith wasn’t worried or concerned, shes just a sweet girl trying to cheer up a cute guy. Lol in the Japanese version Cloud looks so annoyed with her. I am glad we got the English version, or I might be annoyed with her too lol.

    • @divinearia1601
      @divinearia1601 5 лет назад +4

      @@DivineDissident....Aerith wasn't just a "sweet girl trying to cheer up a cute guy" character. She's a 22-year-old woman with a much more well-rounded personality than that. Obviously, she can be intuitive, sassy, and cheerful but she *also* has a soft side to her: mature, calm, nurturing, and graceful...and that side of her was clearly expressed during this scene in the Japanese version. IMO, the Japanese voice actress, who has been voicing Aerith for a long time, is extremely versatile and has already proven that she can show ALL sides of Aerith. At this point, I'm not sure yet that the English VA can be more than just the "cute and bubbly girl trying to cheer up the cute guy" because that is all I've seen from her so far. I really hope she is able to bring out ALL sides of Aerith's personality.

    • @DivineDissident
      @DivineDissident 5 лет назад +1

      Divine Aria..... Oh my dear, I was talking about in THIS SITUATION. Not who she is as her whole character. I too hope to see all of Aeris’ personality, she is my fav video game character of all time. Im just really glad we have the English Aeris, I dont really see any of the traits that you see in this Japanese rendition. I see over exaggerated worry and concern that never characterized Aerith in the original, though we did see that in Crisis Core. Aerith had a way of using her bubbly, charming, happy demeanor to cheer people up always seeing the bright side of things and encouraging others.. and thats being nurturing and graceful in my book...Capturing way more of her true essence than the Japanese does in my book. I hear the Japanese and I’m like that’s so not who Aeris is at all, no thanks! The Japanese nurturing sounds more like an overly worried mother. Type of nurturing that would actually turn people away from it because their concern and worry is so obvious it can be felt, rather than someone who actually does cheer you up by being sweet and bubbly and caring in a really cute way. Thats my Aeris!! :)

    Maaya is so lucky to have the honor of voicing one of the most iconic character in gaming history, and such a perfect fit to boot. Frankly, I doubt it's a coincidence her husband Kenichi voices Zack, and the 2 characters are couples. It's very possible Square Enix back in the day made Zack and Aerith a couple as a tribute to Kenichi and Maaya, and chose them specifically for Advent Children when their respective characters finally have a voice
