The game isn't "dying" because its not a live serivce. It was never meant to hold people forever & ever with endless possibilities. Its a dungeon cralwer looter shooter meant to be fun to play for short or long burst of time (depending on who you are) and then dropped until next expansion, or you just want to return. Thats like saying Elden ring or The souls series are "dying" because their lack of dedicated pvp or no new content besides 1 dlc in 2 years. Not every game is meant to live forever. Let a game be fun, then move on
I only reply on this because no one cares to see the steam charts to understand what the numbers say really. Remnant 2 All time peak 110k on release | DLC1 (21k Peak) | DLC2 (13k). The moment this video was made the game had under 2k playing daily. Would u like to hear about Elden Ring now? On release 952k on release and 780k on DLC1(very close right?) with around 100k people playing the game daily even tho the game is not a live service game. GFG are capable of greatness and if the community will not push them to greatness, then what the hell are we good for?
It is funny how people just assume how a game is made to be played. Also, Elden Ring is much more balanced and skill based than Remnant. If the power gap between builds is too big, the meta will be boring and trivialize the challenge.
@ChaosGaming1111 I see you deleted my comment I sent back talking to you about the actual numbers, so I'll mention it again if need be. Remant 2 peak is 11% of the total player base of elden ring. If you look at elden ring from release (which was peak) and go to 1 year & 2 months (which is the same amount of time remnant 2 has been out) elden ring dropped from 952,523 people down to 25,426. That means they lost 97.34% of their player base. Remnant 2 went from 110,756 down to 2,735 people. That is a 97.54% loss of player base. Meaning remnant 2 holds the same retention rate as elden ring down to being with 0.20% of players. Are you saying elden ring is dying? It lost just as much of its player base so factually you have to agree it's dying. Your narrative doesn't fit that math though does it? You can't do your own job correctly & continue to spread misinformation
@@gumed85 feel free to read my 2nd response about the games before the creator deletes it again because it proves him wrong & his ego can't leave it up
Nerfing everything to make it all mid is NOT the solution to keeping a player base. Just ask the devs of Helldivers 2 how that's working out for them. The game is pushing one year old and has very little RNG to keep people playing it. Once you've collected everything, there's little reason to keep playing other than to create broken builds. It's not like Borderlands 2 where you keep grinding for gear with better stats or parts. Take away the incentive to create broken builds, the game is dead.
Agree 100%. I sunk an unhealthy amount of time into Borderlands 3. That’s because Gearbox puts such a unique emphasis on the end game loop and build crafting. Like there is always something to do. Slaughter circles, takedowns, 6 DLC’s, raid bosses, seasonal events, etc. And man some awesome weapon variety where you can craft some seriously broken builds and it’s actually encouraged lol.
Even before these games, look back at Digital Extremes handling Warframe. They've never hidden the fact that they nerf things because it's too popular. Sometimes, a nerf is needed, and the only buffs we get is when the game changes enough that a warframe needs a rework to match. I've enjoyed warframe for 11 years, but it's been a rough ride for some old favorite weapons.
I don’t want them to nerf mods or skills into the ground because I feel being creative should be rewarded however you should have to be creative for a mod/ skill build feel decently op. But overall I have to agree high skill builds should feel OP when played well.
All these damage builds, "bUt WhErE tAnK bUiLd At?!" I don't use DPS builds. It doesn't matter if it takes 5 or 10 minutes if I have 0% chance of dying. My fight is a war of attrition. 😂
@@NnH_Kairyuthis is what I did. Lots of lifesteal and shield being built up as I use my melee so it keeps me in the fight long enough to reposition and heal up. But I also run Krell Axe so I’m kinda cheating. Haha
Bit late but you should check out the youtuber VashCowaii as he did a bunch of basically unkillable tank builds for Remnant. Admitedly they were before or right after the first DLC but they still work and he provided the framework for how to alter and change the build as needed. Showing how there isn't a 1 size fits all tank build. As some enemies do lots of little hits while others do single big hits and the same strategy won't work for both. One example is the "Remnant 2: The Masochist Tank Apocalypse Build" where you can just tank a Sha-halla blackhole to the face and not care. Which even works vs empathy bosses.
To be fair, without specifically aiming to get a meta build off the hop I have put well over 100 hours into the game before it stated getting to the point where I could make many broken builds. And ill probably put another 100 or more into it as well. For me id say I got my money out of the game. And allowing me to break the game 200 hours in I think is kinda fun. Is it perfect? hell no, but its really fun.
I think the problem is not only the mod/skill spam meta that is kinda braindead and thus boring in the long run but also the variety of builds. Idk how many builds I have seen that rely on monolith or nebula lately. Its the biggest irony that the community that propagates build variety in the game utilize the same 2 weapons and the couple trinkets over and over and over again.
Apocalypse is very easy once you're geared up. I play plenty of "off meta" builds to challenge myself and HU/GS sits at the upper end of that category. I think perhaps GFG needs to introduce world modifiers and sliders that you can apply when re-rolling a story/adventure mode. Something to give players agency and keep things fresh. Locking these behind apocalypse (or maybe nightmare) completion would probably be sensible. ------------------------- Sliders such as: ------------------------ - Trash enemy health (up to 10x) - Elite enemy health (up to 5x) - Boss Health (up to 3x) - Trash enemy multiplier (up to 2x) - Elite enemy multiplier (up to 3x) ------------------------------------- And modifiers such as: ------------------------------------ - Sniper: 1.2x weak spot damage. 0.75x non weak spot damage. - Catalyst: Enemies that die to an elemental DOT launch homing orbs of that type toward the player (at most, once every 6 seconds). Getting hit applies the status to you but I-framing the orbs creates a 10m explosion that applies it to all enemies in range. - Surgeon: +20% melee damage, melee attack speed and melee crit chance. Generic and Elite enemies NOT killed by melee damage have a 50% chance to be staggered and regain their full HP instead of dying. - Voltage: Shock/overload damage 1.2x (fire/corrosive damage 0.75x) - Acrid: Corrosive/acid damage 1.2x (fire/shock damage 0.75x) - Scorch: Fire/burn damage 1.2x (shock/corrosive damage 0.75x) - Bloodlust: Weak spot hits and melee hits apply hemorrhage for 3 seconds. Gain 6% life-steal against hemorrhaged targets. ALL other healing is reduced by 75%. - Minimalist: When no mod or skill is active, gain 1% fire rate and reload speed every second up to a maximum of +50%. Charge weapons gain 1% crit chance and damage instead. Using a mod or skill resets the buff. All elemental damage is halved. - Speedster: All damage increased by 40% of your bonus movement speed. Sprinting builds stacks of frenzy. The faster your movement speed, the faster you gain stacks. Frenzy decays quickly and when depleted, drains your HP at 10% per second (down to 1HP). - Arsenal: (Story playthrough modifier) Equipped weapons lose 1% damage and equipped mods gain 1% mod cost for every minute spent in combat. This does not reset until beating Annihilation. Move fast and spend your gear wisely. ------------------------------------- Being able to choose or randomize modifiers would result in some unique playthroughs and provide incentive to create/test new builds. Having the sliders available to players would allow them to tailor the difficulty based on their current modifiers and build choices. Sliders would multiply based on the current difficulty chosen and obviously not go below 1x. Just my idea for a fun endgame experience. Values and percentages would need to be adjusted based on testing.
@@SunnyJCR bosses are quite easy even if they have 10x health. They need new moveset and adjusting of old move because there are bosses like red prince which you can kill without taking any damage because attacks are so easy to dodge.
A modifier that increases health pool would be boring cuz at that point everything becomes bullet sponge and it’s just a battle to get rid of that health bar as quickly as possible and lowers the variety in builds by focusing the meta on just damage It wouldn’t work very well if all they do is nerf everything to the ground Wouldn’t be enjoyable at all. It should be more like a resistance or adaptation to damage that can only be broken by dealing a different type of damage or to break certain parts of a boss or elite enemy Or groups of enemies that empower the boss make it more engaging by coming up with ways to deal with the problem than just dealing massive amounts of damage by showering enemies with bullets and damage multipliers/vulnerabilities. Like give them moving pillars that if you don’t destroy in enough time their damage doubles or the enemies in the field double raise the stakes for them but also for you if that makes sense. Just get creative with it other than increasing health pool by millions. At one point dealing so much damage gets boring it’s better to switch it up a lot to keep things fresh Different and out of nowhere type moves that players wouldn’t be able to predict make it all randomized Something that doesn’t get talked about a lot during these types of games is randomization of boss or elite enemy movesets or just straight up add new ones never seen before that it’s only used once or twice during a battle And if you die new moves are used to keep you on your toes at all times Forces you to change your strategy slightly. Sorry I’m rambling at this point but you get what I’m saying.
The fact that in order to make any ranged dmg build meta relies on hunter gunslinger is so stupid…. I hate those 2 classes. And no… the solution is not nerfing those 2 classes… the solution is cranking up those unused weapons, mods, skills, etc, to make more viable options for us to have fun with. I’m so sick of seeing the same 3 builds for every weapon/mod in the game.
Make fun builds, not dps builds, but too few people do it. Coop builds are fun, implication builds are fun like birthright of the lost, one eyed joker idol/50% health build/explosion builds, underdog stats are fun like movement speed and fire rate, play fun weapons like repulsor, starkiller, alpha omega, arbalest and classical level 20 weapons, engineers, summoner and alchemist are very fun but overlooked bc of their lack of dps. This is why we need the return of randomized survival mode, it was a way to create builds with what we had, sometimes focusing on one weird mechanic and learning the game again
@@SquanchGod Meh, stuff happens in development. Sometimes extra polish is needed, sometimes the devs want to add something else. I love this game, probably my favorite Soulslike out there, but it really doesn't need to pump out content like live service games do. I am content to go in, spend a solid 30-40+ hours making builds and rerunning everything over a few weeks, and then leave it for the next big DLC. If they need til September that is fine with me, I've got a good amount of games backlogged anyways.
@@JohnDoe-pu5gk The point is, though, that a game that is not a live service can't die. Ten years from now if you want to play, you can. It is a silly thing to say.
I had a feeling that Remnant 2 wasnt as fun for me anymore and that's the reason. There's no variety and even if you try something else it's not gonna be as rewarding. I think Gfg should revert the crit nerfs and make a new gamemode that releases either with the DLC or a seperate update
It's hard to keep a balance, but definitely some items must remain op, especially the ones that cost too much effort to get. Cof cof, hardore runs. But on the other hand..... if something is extremely broken and trivializes the game that much, it can become bored. It definitely is hard to balance this kind of thing.
I love the first one and Remnant 2 is even better. I want to thank them for all the hard work and I think they have done a great job. Play hardcore with out backing up your game or play with weaker weapons. Any game no matter what can become to easy. I think it’s great can’t wait for the 3rd DLC. Thanks 🙏
I agree, I have been playing with some of the lesser used weapons and weapon mods which has kept the game much more exciting. I definitely recommend people give using different early game weapons and mods you don't see often used a chance.
@@N3oma Yes it'll be the 3rd part to N-Erud and many people believe it'll drop next week for the year anniversary, personally I think it's more likely we get a new game mode and adderation event for the year anniversary and get the 3rd DLC later this fall. They originally said 3 DLC within a year but they delayed DLC 2 for 6 weeks and they've said they have something huge planned between DLC 2 and DLC 3 and we haven't had that happen yet so I personally think we are going to get that next Thursday then get DLC 3 later this fall. Also 3 DLCs aren't the only things they have planned Tragic, KP and 3 or 4 other devs have all said they have huge plans for more content post DLC 3 so as long as the player base stays big they will do more DLCs after year one is finished. So expect a year 2 with more DLCs, a second game mode or one bigger DLC like we got with the DLC in the 1st game. 😀
IMO, This isnt the main reason, The sheer lack of endgame content is the main cause. Once I collected all the armors weapons and other collectibles theres no REAL reason for me to play anymore. A system with randomized stats on stuff (Like warframe's riven system for example) would give it maybe a extra week, but once you got what you wanted then again theres no real reason to play more. These days I only boot remnant from the ashes up for a drinking game with buddies in that 1 mode where you start at lvl 1 and get random items to buy (forgot the name been a hot minute that I've last played it)
This game was so good at start. I really loved it, could not stop playing it when i had time. But it got boring almost as fast as it got interesting once you geared up and done everything 10 million times
Honestly you make some great points. I do hope some fixes come out for Monolith and Invoker but the ranged builds stuff you talked about I'm not quite sure of.
Basically everyone who wants to complete an Apoc run has done so at this point, if they were willing to put in any effort at all. After that, who cares? It's not like Remnant 2 has an endgame where advantage is gained by having lower TTKs on bosses. Any decent build, be it ranged, melee, or skill, is capable of breezing through the entire game, so just pick what you want to play and have fun.
I'm not sure where the balance of the game truly is anymore. Some hugs but not all hugs feel good and calming mod spam down also sounds like a net loss for the game. if you take dot ,skill or mod damage down it doesnt feel fun anymore. I still feel like gunfire nerfed crit because it affects skills and mods but it still hurts more than it helped. Some really fun guns just dont work anymore and thats just sad..
In my opinion, ranged weapons should not have debuffs or buffs. It makes you only use them to supplement skills. I'd also argue that crit chance should be buffed across the board for most ranged options to put it in line with skill damage
Id say the nerfs dont make that big a difference and you can usually get something similar to before just in a different way. Unless it was just one of the super bugged and broken kill a boss instantly setups. And if your playong Apoc, and complaining the game is hard then yeah thats the idea. Apoc is meant to be stupid hard, so it requires the meta to succeed reasonably unless your just a god at the game. But nobody is making you play on Apoc or even the second hardest difficulty. Some of my builds have taken minor hits here and their but even I think its fine how things are currently. Keep wacking the blatently broken things gunfire, and keep buffing the weak stuff to play atleast the second hardest difficulty fairly reasonably.
I completely agree. I have been trying to figure out the issue with the game. I thought i was just getting bored but I think it's this. Mod/skill builds are just to so good and slightly brain dead. Makes running anything else feel bad. They need to do something to other types of build to make more variety.
Who would of thought that playing as a magical demi-god that bends the very elements of nature to you will is superior to the "I shoot guns" guy. Honestly kind of reminds of fighters in DnD being surprised they fall behind literally every magic class in terms of damage output. Of course the magic is going to outclass the guns. It's freaking magic. And don't @me with the "they're just modification to the weapons" argument. A pillar of fire that actively chases down enemies or a highly aggressive sandstorm is magic, I don't care what the game tries to call them. Besides takes less then a minute with any decent build. So some can crunch a boss in 30 seconds instead of crunching them in sixty. Big deal. Only matters to speed runners or "max efficiency" farmers. You play what's fun, the forty extra seconds aren't going to matter to 99% of the people that play the game.
At first I thought you had a bad take while reading this but then understood your point and it's very good. Faster time to kill should NOT be that much of an incentive if engaging with the boss for longer is actually fun. The problem with this game's bosses is that even though they are good in concept, in reality dealing with them can be annoying and when you factor in the amount of 1 shots and instakills, it's better to melt bosses as fast as possible to save yourself a headache. Not implying that bosses aren't good because "muh 1 shot", most bosses in this game are great IMO but their overtly punishing nature prompts players to just get rid of them as fast as possible and that's very evident when you see how the meta revolves around sheer DPS no matter what.
And the HUGE health pools don't help either. Even a friend of mine who always defended the most asinine design decisions in DS2 pointed me out the fact of how spongy bosses are when showing him my gameplay to try to promote this game. That's because I make my own builds and I don't min max DPS so it takes a LOOOONG time to kill bosses, their health bar doesn't seem to change at all despite feeding them so many bullets.
i was pretty disappointed from the dlc cus it had just some new worlds and i ended it in an afternoon (no speedrunning) and almost getting everything. My problem are not builds, but repetitive and rng-like worlds. There are some amulets or rings that need different worlds matching and even if just a dungeon is wrong the run is ruined.Apocalypse must be hard as an apocalypse;with a simple dumb tank build or a dps build you can melt bosses
Playing remnant 2 for 100 hours now, just finished the first dlc, going for the second. Dont take into account my time played, i finished first campaign on nightmare and just beat apocalypse nightweaver on adv reroll. I just like to collect EVERYTHING in my visited zones on first playthrough and that takes a lot of reading and back-forth. Seeing the meta builds and what mine (ranged) does on apocalypse, i am really starting to question if what im playing is worth it. I have to time my dodges perfectly while aiming to the best of my abilities, while skill-mod builds can tank while simoultaneously do better dps than me. Not to mention not having to aim leaves more time to focus on boss mechanics making not dying even easier to achieve. I understand they have to make new content enticing and try to take the game in new directions but they could do that while actually rewarding ranged dps. I am already mostly playing the DLCs just to finish what i paid for, because the items to build things i like, for example critical or rate of fire are extremely limited and feel very weak compared to stuff for elemental and skill damage.
No, they need to make fun synergetic stuff for range builds and crit builds so they can be on par aoe wise-utility wise-damage wise with skill builds, they dont need to nerf anything.
i have 1.5k playtime on this game. since the last dlc/patch i lost the interest to play this game bcos whatever build i try to make they all feels horrible bcoz knowing the mod/skill spam build is brain dead easy and 10 times stronger that whatever i try to come up with. pre nerf ranged was comparable to mod mage spam build. now its all about Invoker + whatever skill/mod = easy clap.i hate to say this but it feels like the dev are trying to push live service mindset where player are suppose to use whatever meta the dev team want player to use and overusing will cause them nerf the current one and then come up with new meta by buffing underused item.
Glad I’m not crazy lol. Every time I try something it always feels so weak compared to hugs, or literally any combination of invoker, ritualist, and archon. I like how the use of summoner also wasn’t even to summon anything lmao, just that juicy damage perk.
I think that this is a temporary issue due to the last dlc's equipment being built around skills and mods. I believe (or at least I hope) that in the future patches we will see a slight nerf for mod builds and for invoker which is way too strong, after all it's not the first time that this situation occurs (ritualist, I'm looking at you). That said, we can still play non meta builds. Maybe a plasma cutter build won't have the same DPS of a mod build and it will not have the same multi target damage but it still works so if you enjoy it just use it
I was checking out the gear in fextalife and saw what i was getting as i was progressing. Noticed fast that the gear for ranged is fairly limited and most come with tradeoffs that you dont want to do, while mod and skill equipment comes with tradeoffs you could give less of a crap about. OH NO DONT LIMIT THE WEAPON RANGE I WILL BARELY USE FOR 35% AND GIVE ME 15% ALL DAMAGE, SUCH TRAGEDY!! Devs dont need to be rocket scientists to see that. So you end up in order to make a range build to have to sacrifice everything else not working much, and still the damage is nothng to brag about, if you dont go critical you are throwing paper at the opponents. INot to mention that my aoe invoker build clears everything on the screen and more, removing the possibility of cheap deaths that i suffer from whenever i play hugs. Its twice the efford for maybe 30% the result.
The meta went from glass cannons that require skill in both dodging and aiming to mod and skill spam that anyone can do. I do think people overreacted to the crit nerfs but it was a stupid change imo
I enjoyed the glass cannon builds. Lot of damage but it requires perfect dodging to survive because even without vicious or spiteful modifiers any boss can one hit. Nerfing something that only decent players can use and making the game reward just spamming skills or mods makes the game unrewarding.
They wanted more build variety and seemed to achieve the opposite. You can’t even do hybrid builds anymore because of having to really dedicate towards a specific playstyle (DPS, Status, Mods, etc). Invoker was supposedly supposed to be a “slot-in” archetype that would benefit all builds. But they chose its main damage perk to be…elemental…like, huh? If anything Invoker should be all damage as it’s dmg perk. Change alchemist to elemental or something, and then scale back the Crit nerfs. Edit -I realize that way of Kaeula and sandstorm can make any build technically OP but the synergy and variety just isn’t there right now. Like, who is doing Invoker as a secondary right now? That’s more what I meant.
As much as i love the souls-like gameplay, i do wish it leaned more towards diablo/poe as far as loot goes. I feel like we just nuke bosses just to do it. But if all gear rolled stats along with mutators it would be fun to hunt for perfect items that allow these crazy op builds.
I cant help but agree. I always assumed the devs took alot of inspiration from Hellgate London(ex-blizzard north devs) and before the big nerfs(pre dlc 2) i felt like the game was going in a good direction with item-centric builds and mod builds
Please no, I hate grinding for a perfect stats roll. It's a BS way of forcing playtime. If that's your only way of keeping ppl engaged then the game is not that good.
Nerfing and buffing things so much in RPG games could harm a game as well. I hope the devs understand that. Releasing content with a well-balanced set of items so that they don't have to nerf and buff things too much later on would be nice. Nerfing and buffing things is fine all together but when it gets out of hand it could also ruin the fun that they were trying to make. Just like the tragedy that happened with Diablo 4 after each update the only thing that was changing was nerfs and buffs back to back so much that it lost half of its player base. I hope the same thing doesn't happen with this game, it would be sad.
I played a summoner and engineer build and it was so fun I basically had everything unlocked until the first dlc but that’s when it started to get boring and then the nerfs came
I knew this was precisely what was gonna happen I said in a comment for a "broken archon invoker build" video all these said "OP build" videos aren't helping with all the nerfs people are crying about. If people don't want their op broken builds to get nerfed to oblivion maybe don't upload "op build" videos but what do I know. That being said Gunfire/Arc games aren't free from my criticism, but also true hot takes either for all the bullsh@# they spew about "build diversity","keeping the player base engaged" or however the f*** they word it....they seem to have been nerfing alot of weapons, gear, etc that players DO find fun and contribute to their builds, etc Removing stat bonuses from armorsets going into Remnant 2 was the start then they started nerfing gear, archetype builds that funny enough DID add on to what made players love this game, have fun with it,etc... But now with them constantly nerfing sh@#$ to the ground they're going against what they spew, etc etc. I will forever call Gunfire/Arc games out on their BS especially after they patched the effect when you activated Bulletstorm (Gunslinger's 3rd skill) while using the recently added Triple Crossbow it gained infinite ammo for the duration which Bulletstorm was active that was f**"ing awesome,fun,etc....but then of course they nerfed it cuz of course they would it's like we can't have nice things in this f@$$ing game despite the BS they talk out their a@# but I digress
Just nerf monolith and most of these problems are gone, plenty of ways to build into high risk high reward, maybe provide a small percentage bump to this massive damage numbers, high risk reward would be an explosive build for example you can do some crazy damage but at the risk of obliterating yourself or your team 😂
Yeah the way builds feel now is rubbish and the co op game play is usually you're booted soon after joining or just for no apparent reason. Rem 2 is my current favorite fps but i dont play much due to the previous stated reasons.(basically at 800+ hours of play)
There are jerks out there that will attack your character for no reason, I've seen it happen and suddenly I understood why some ppl kick players from games immediately. Matchmaking is sluggish though, lots of connection errors and the refresh rate is terrible. Also I think you meant 3rd person shooter
I got almost 300 hours myself. And I agree. The Meta has changed many times and is always changing. Bills that were once viable are no longer viable do to nerfs But I still think it's better than the first one. Because in the first one literally it was you ran around and bandit gear And were a hunter. Here there is a little bit more to it And I like that they give them that freedom and I like that. They don't nerf builds like the one I use which is root doctor it's literally just a healing build. And I do that because number one I like it and number 2. It allows other players and my friends to try stuff out and find what they like without dying all the time. As for people kicking you, I ran into that a few times but I feel like every game. People just run into a bad batch for a decent amount of time and think that's how things are when for me. The majority of people I join. I just run around and do whatever they want to do. If I'm collecting, I'll host my own game and do my own stuff, and people can come and go as they please.
@deathhulk92 I still jump on and play support healer builds. I get kicked much less when I am keeping the team alive. This is a great game and will not be putting down the controller anytime soon.
Your verdict at the end is on point, Chaos! Thanks for making this video and dearly hope Tragic sees this. Let's make this a shooter game Gainand not a wizard game!
Ok so you are saying that mod mage is OP? And while I can see where you are coming from there is 1 thing you have to realise... IT IS DANGEROUS! As specifically Firestorm is very strong yes, but if you accidentally step inside it you are dead. If you are playing online in co-op and a friend gets in it's radius they are dead. While ranged has no issues with that. Imagine fighting a boss that teleports around and Firestorm following it and thus catching you because the boss teleported behind you. EDIT: Also with skill builds well... That is 1 single skill on the most complex to unlock class. But also it got nerfed in latest patch anyway so no reason for me to talk about it.
Honestly, quit playing the second I realized how poor the engineer role is. It looked so fun to use, but when I first used it with a decent loadout, it was the definition of mid.
Just nerf/rework monolith/firestorm and that’s it, for now it’s only viable options for mod builds coz all other mods are s*** or nerfed to s*** state…

Balance doesn't need to mean everything hits as hard as everything else, which I feel has been the goal of the last few updates. What it should mean is that this "OP" or "meta" build hits really hard in this way but I sacrifice "x"; DOT or Range or Skill/MOD, should all have their own strengths/ weaknesses and their own rewards for those play styles. Unfortunately, the balance changes have made any sort of gunplay a backup for when you have no mods or your skills are on cooldown.
I maintain that the reason the game is "dying" is that it never got the attention it deserved from content creators or the wider community when it released even though it's one of the best games I have ever played, period. I feel like talking about the dominance of mod and skill builds is a little out of touch, this is not a competative game like Destiny 2 or something, the only thing forcing you to use the meta is you. I love and cherish my merciless build, is it meta? No, but it's mine and it works in apoc, as long as a weapon is viable, it is equally as useable as everything else. I have never even used firestorm and I don't feel like I'm missing anything, I don't use tank builds for the same reason, I don't enjoy them. Remnant 2 being a largely solo experiance gives us the freedom to do whatever we want, and certain builds being vastly superior doesn't matter because you don't have to use them. This game has some legitimate issues, like the inability to communicate with co-op teammates beyond shooting them to get their attention and prraying they don't think you're attacking them and kick you from the team, but I don't think certain builds being OP is a critical issue with the game.
i played from start to finish once i hit the trait cap i was disappointed GREATLY, so i just killed the last boss and moved on ( did download the uncap trait mod)
@@Hitman2b How's that? I really don't see the trait cap as a big deal, I'm glad it's there honestly, becomming so piwerful off of traits that enemies can't do anything to you is dull.
@@samaron8970 that the whole point to become powerfull people like seeing number go up also remnant 1 difficulty were based on the number of trait you had
@@Hitman2b Well, to be quite frank, I feel contempt for those people, outlevelling anything is not fun, the only metric I want to effect my ability to defeat a boss is my own skill level. Remnant 2 has infinately more buildcrafting than its prequal, and the game can certainly be made easy if you want it to, choosing which traits to invest in is much better for buildcrafting than just endless progression.
@@samaron8970 Hard disagree outleveling and constant progression is what made remnant 1 more fun then 2, i also disagree on buildcrafting in 2, people will just go for meta build and that it, there was also more choice given by remnant 1 then 2

They dont have to nerf everything. But the game is WAY to easy right now... They need to either nerf everything insanely hard or, what i´d like more, a new difficulty thats like more than double apoc. I hate it when i have the ability to melt bosses or elites within seconds on apoc. I want a solid 15 minutes of pure chaos, suffering and concentration for each try on the boss i do!
First of all, Gunfire Games did an amazing job on this game and will continue to support this game. I don’t want to sound too harsh especially with the game price and commitment the team has to the community. But one gripe I have with the game is what I call the “Illusion of Choice”. There are a lot of customization in the game but in reality it only boils down to a few via options. This is apparent in the newly released classes which have superior perks compared to your normal class. This in turn creates meta builds which destroys your freedom to create your own build. The team acknowledges this and has said they will fix the old classes so I don’t want to make a big deal out of it. However, currently status effect, HUGS, elemental damage are clear favorites. I hope they focus more on gimmicky weapons instead. I dont care much about broken builds, I want fun weapons. Taking advantage of class perks plus gimmicky weapons should be viable even in apocalypse. Otherwise there is the illusion of choice.
Instead of nerfing it into the ground they could have just done like a 15% overall decrease in effectiveness. But they pretty much did a 50-60% decrease with the last nerf. For example hugs corrupted savior hit for 1.1-1.4 thousand damage with a crit weak spot. Now it’s like 680 unless you wanna bring it up to 712 but have no damage reduction or any other ring buffs outside of damage. If it was brought back up to let’s say 950 per hit the game would feel more fair to gun users
@@miller7451 I agree completely I honestly think the last patch was great for the game yet it had some some strange ass nerfs (lifeless heart nerf...wtf). The ranged damage nerf didnt just hurt max dps builds it also hurt any build that wants a wittle ranged damage in general. love this game and the people workin on it
I understand what you’re saying but I think to say it’s dying is crazy. There is so much variety and you can play so many different ways. I have no complaints but that is just my opinion. I do want to say thanks for all your great videos and the time you put into them so thank you as well👍
Ok so I stopped playing destiny and was looking for a game where I can have a sword and ranged weapon... either this or lords of the fallen... lies of p looks great also but I'm only buying one of those 3
I have an idea that can work to make the game even more fun and challanging. What about a new difficulty, where every small character is an apparation strong, 50% chance to spawn an apparation per dungeon and area, world bosses have every mutater on, and minibosses have halth/all of them. The bosses have a lot more health and demage, onetapping most people and randomly increase or slowdown attacks to make it more skills and less repeats. Also make it an achivement :)
everything being soo strong makes the game way to easy and your not being rewarded for playing well. i finished the game in apocalypse mode with a sniper build in like 2 hours, there's no difficulty to it? i think instead of nerfing everything they should bring out a harder difficulty/modes and have rewards tied to them so its rewarding instead of just walking through boss fights.
The biggest problem is the AOE attacks being just as strong as single target attacks. Stuff like firestorm/sandstorm should do way less damage when they can hit a whole boss room full of enemies at once. And the Archon skill should either do less damage or have a more focused attack that can't hit infinite targets
Agree 100 %. Corrupted savior is still quite viable, but even then I just slap on havoc form for the boss fights most of the time, because the only reason not to is to challenge myself not to :l
I don't mind the metas really just because this is a solo/co-op game, and there isn't leaderboards or pvp, where then it would be an exponential issue. Me and my friends just say we are doing a "thing" barred run, and it's fine. All that happened with me is I eventually tried and enjoyed the braindead builds, then got sick of them because I realized it was boring past the wow-damage-factor, and then I just started self-imposing the use of more unique and grounded builds for challenge and the fun of correctly playing through boss mechanics. Balance is still welcome though so that the boring op things can find a better place to be more interesting and decisive.
gunfire nerf mods because they are better than what i like to play! God forbid another HUGS build running probability cord and zanias malice isn't at the top of the charts
Love your videos chaos, but here's two points to consider (1) The shortest time to kill isn't actually that important for the average gamer. Not everyone is trying to speed kill bosses. I think most gamers are fine even if it takes them like 2-3 minutes (or maybe more) to kill a boss. As long as there are a wide variety of builds that can do this, and there are, I'd say it's fine. Let the speedrunners have their 20 second boss kills, while also letting the average gamer kill a boss with whatever build they wish to play (2) I do 100% agree with you however that the game is busted. I've actually stopped playing the game since 2 or 3 weeks ago. Invoker is too strong. Sandstorm is too strong. When I went to the gun range to craft a new build, within a few minutes i just go "Ah why even bother, what's even the point" and just default back to some Invoker or Sandstorm related build. Guys like Sheen Shots and Bolt Jamison are fighting the good fight and trying to highlight builds that don't use Invoker or sandstorm, but it's a losing battle. That class and that mod is just fuck busted right now The reason the game is like this though is because the dev is trying to make people buy the DLC It kind of reminds me of the Ritualist problem we had the previous DLC Ritualist was hands down the most op class back then with unparalleled mob clearing capability, while also being able to keep up with the best boss killing builds Thing is though, at least Ritualist was just one op class. You can ignore it if you want to, there's room for other op builds to exist Invoker and sandstorm, otoh, makes whatever class or build you pair them with op So yes, instead of releasing a new op class for this DLC, the devs have gone ham and released a class/mod that makes ALL OTHER classes op Whatever build you're trying to craft, it can be made better just by adding Invoker and/or sandstorm to it The state of the game right now is basically- Idiot's guide to remnant: "struggling with your build? Not sure what to do? Just add Invoker or sandstorm! Or better yet, both!"
They should have everyone start new when DLC is introduced. Everyone has an over powered build and runs through the content in hours. I’m ready for the next round. I hear it’s N’Erud. 😳
The purpose is the style, if u want to play like a no hand sheet u use skills and mods, but if you want a challenge and improve your skills as a player u play ranged builds, its easy
The issu with the first game was that every thing was op then thay made every thing meh and only the slayer armour with the hunter pistol and the sniper crossbow was good for apoc so if this game terns out like that I'm getting rid of it and never looking back
Very true pro at the first of remnant2 there was a lot of fun builds and enjoyable builds for range damage and i did send a map to gunfire games company in the Twitter about these issues that they are killing every strong build and every enjoyable builds to make the game balanced but they should make builds more powerful and the bosses more stronger to balance the game because now they literally don’t have anything that we can have fun on this game unfortunately
THIS I pointed out how DLC archetypes are blatant easy mode in discord and everyone agreed. It's just ridiculous and other games are called pay to win for less than this. (I don't think it's p2w tho but the OPness of DLC stuff is questionable at best.)
@noobeternal9718 especially the balance update before the dlc and then you instantly find op stuff in the dlc If you release a balance patch a few weeks before the dlc. Then the dlc should be balanced too no. It's just too questionable
🤔 i expected this game to be under 5$. But no :| it's a little more than that. I ll buy it but in the future. Yes as long as it's not dead by that time. :) i ll get it in the 2025/2026/2027 summer sale. (I got bf2042 for really cheap this summer sale)
Stop the hate. If you want to play the gun you can. Mage mod and skill STILL should do more. The point of player doing the gunplay damage is because they want to play the game "correctly". All i am hearing is jealousy and hatred. You dont need to hate on build or call for a nerf. And no. Gunfight damage should not he better. Mods and magic should be stronger. They are stronger than bullet and magic is magic.
@@gumed85 feel free to read my 2nd response about the games before the creator deletes it again because it proves him wrong & his ego can't leave it up
@@ChaosGaming1111 Bait used to be believable
D4 did this before season 1 and almost killed there game
There is barely build variety going on
@@NnH_Kairyu i disagree i think in PVE games nothing should be nerfed unless it is literally broken/bugged. But never nerfed to fixed.
As someone who really likes melee but isn’t good enough to consistently dodge everything, I go with this as well.
@@ZZMonkeysUncleZZ Have you tried a variation of melee regen tank build?
130 hours in about to get the pass so I can use all the shit I got but I fully agree, this is a great game in it's own right.
Current builds all seem to feature monolith. The guns mod is very powerful and hasn’t been though about in balance at all.
I can swap monolith for any weapon and use firestorm.
On most of my encounters monolith is just some nice aoe dps addition, its good but not crazy.
@@JohnDoe-pu5gk Yea its the exposed crap
-------------------------
Sliders such as:
------------------------
- Trash enemy health (up to 10x)
- Elite enemy health (up to 5x)
- Boss Health (up to 3x)
- Trash enemy multiplier (up to 2x)
- Elite enemy multiplier (up to 3x)
-------------------------------------
And modifiers such as:
------------------------------------
- Sniper: 1.2x weak spot damage.
- Voltage: Shock/overload damage 1.2x (fire/corrosive damage 0.75x)
- Acrid: Corrosive/acid damage 1.2x (fire/shock damage 0.75x)
- Scorch: Fire/burn damage 1.2x (shock/corrosive damage 0.75x)
- Bloodlust: Weak spot hits and melee hits apply hemorrhage for 3 seconds.
-------------------------------------
Being able to choose or randomize modifiers would result in some unique playthroughs and provide incentive to create/test new builds.
A modifier that increases health pool would be boring cuz at that point everything becomes bullet sponge and it’s just a battle to get rid of that health bar as quickly as possible and lowers the variety in builds by focusing the meta on just damage
It wouldn’t work very well if all they do is nerf everything to the ground
Wouldn’t be enjoyable at all.
It should be more like a resistance or adaptation to damage that can only be broken by dealing a different type of damage or to break certain parts of a boss or elite enemy
Or groups of enemies that empower the boss
make it more engaging by coming up with ways to deal with the problem than just dealing massive amounts of damage by showering enemies with bullets and damage multipliers/vulnerabilities.
Like give them moving pillars that if you don’t destroy in enough time their damage doubles or the enemies in the field double
raise the stakes for them but also for you if that makes sense.
Just get creative with it other than increasing health pool by millions.
At one point dealing so much damage gets boring
it’s better to switch it up a lot to keep things fresh
Different and out of nowhere type moves that players wouldn’t be able to predict
make it all randomized
Something that doesn’t get talked about a lot during these types of games is randomization of boss or elite enemy movesets or just straight up add new ones never seen before that it’s only used once or twice during a battle
And if you die new moves are used to keep you on your toes at all times
Forces you to change your strategy slightly.
This is why we need the return of randomized survival mode, it was a way to create builds with what we had, sometimes focusing on one weird mechanic and learning the game again
dying is being over dramatic

@@SquanchGod Meh, stuff happens in development. Sometimes extra polish is needed, sometimes the devs want to add something else.
I definitely recommend people give using different early game weapons and mods you don't see often used a chance.
theirs going to be a third dlc??
@@blazing_pyro67 if im honest id love more dlc n stuff, id personally like big dlcs for the game than bite sized ones but who knows
3rd dlc pushed back till September
Because reasons 😂
That's why moderating your time helps you enjoy games longer
Honestly you make some great points. I do hope some fixes come out for Monolith and Invoker but the ranged builds stuff you talked about I'm not quite sure of.
Basically everyone who wants to complete an Apoc run has done so at this point, if they were willing to put in any effort at all. After that, who cares? It's not like Remnant 2 has an endgame where advantage is gained by having lower TTKs on bosses. Any decent build, be it ranged, melee, or skill, is capable of breezing through the entire game, so just pick what you want to play and have fun.
every build i’ve followed and tried as a new player has the top comment saying (PATCHED) bamboozle after bamboozle
Make new difficulty increase boss health in the new difficulty and give the boss new move set that harder to dodge i think this may workout better
isn’t this just an issue of u having to dodge so u lose over all dps but as a mod mage u don’t lose much dps bc It keeps going while u dodge
The main reason i don't play anymore it's because i've done everything and the last DLC is just boring as hell
They could buff Grey health/half health builds, that would be fun rink reward
I never gave in and made a cheese/mod build, game is still fun and challenging on apoc, glad I didn't ruin it for myself
Man u hit it right on the nail they really messed up with the nerfs badly makes me not play it as much as i did
i just started this game like 4 days ago what nerfs happened and where is a place to look up current information for builds thats not old
Who would of thought that playing as a magical demi-god that bends the very elements of nature to you will is superior to the "I shoot guns" guy.
Asking that question won't increase the damage on HUGS, but will just result in a nerf to Mods/Skills.
No surprise here people have called out the trait cap since launch, restricting build diversity and all of that, i found R1FTA more fun
Summoner/Engineer > Mod Mage. And it’s not even close
I've been wanting to run an eng build but not alot of people use him. What do you run?
I played a summoner and engineer build and it was so fun I basically had everything unlocked until the first dlc but that’s when it started to get boring and then the nerfs came
I knew this was precisely what was gonna happen I said in a comment for a "broken archon invoker build" video all these said "OP build" videos aren't helping with all the nerfs people are crying about.
If people don't want their op broken builds to get nerfed to oblivion maybe don't upload "op build" videos but what do I know.
That being said Gunfire/Arc games aren't free from my criticism, but also true hot takes either for all the bullsh@# they spew about "build diversity","keeping the player base engaged" or however the f*** they word it....they seem to have been nerfing alot of weapons, gear, etc that players DO find fun and contribute to their builds, etc
Removing stat bonuses from armorsets going into Remnant 2 was the start then they started nerfing gear, archetype builds that funny enough DID add on to what made players love this game, have fun with it,etc...
I use my own mage mod build with Ritualist and my DPS is 3000-4500 rn with the status damage set up lmao
Unfortunately if they have any response at all, it will be to nerf mods and skills instead of buffing firearms.
How did you get 166.8 armour for only 49.1 weight?
Yeah the way builds feel now is rubbish and the co op game play is usually you're booted soon after joining or just for no apparent reason. Rem 2 is my current favorite fps but i dont play much due to the previous stated reasons.(basically at 800+ hours of play)
There are jerks out there that will attack your character for no reason, I've seen it happen and suddenly I understood why some ppl kick players from games immediately. Matchmaking is sluggish though, lots of connection errors and the refresh rate is terrible. Also I think you meant 3rd person shooter
@@chubbs_tubby3360 sure, you understand though right.
@chubbs_tubby3360 Sure, you understand though right.
I just want to be able to have a pot of options on how I want to play the game. Seems like unless I'm doing a mod or skill build, I'm just not viable.
Nice video bro. I’m using elemental build invoker & engineer at apocalypse 10/10
Honestly, quit playing the second I realized how poor the engineer role is. It looked so fun to use, but when I first used it with a decent loadout, it was the definition of mid.
Just nerf/rework monolith/firestorm and that’s it, for now it’s only viable options for mod builds coz all other mods are s*** or nerfed to s*** state…
Remnant 2 isnt dying lol. Its possible to enjoy the game without alll this shade . Bro find something else to create other than hate . ❤

100% on the money

Think if game was released close to starfield or another rpg shooter been skipped by many Devs related at a Good time..."We will be back" other Dlc came out to close this dlc TBH
How did you get so much armor?
Hate the builds used to run medic and challenger and that was like a tank
They dont have to nerf everything. But the game is WAY to easy right now... They need to either nerf everything insanely hard or, what i´d like more, a new difficulty thats like more than double apoc. I hate it when i have the ability to melt bosses or elites within seconds on apoc. I want a solid 15 minutes of pure chaos, suffering and concentration for each try on the boss i do!
The only thing is the last 2 type of builds are to me more fun to play???
The last DLC was very underwhelming!
Watch them nerf archon/invoker now and think everything is fine again then lmao
what are good ways to bring back ranged damage in your opinion
The ranged damage nerf didnt just hurt max dps builds
it also hurt any build that wants a wittle ranged damage in general. love this game and the people workin on it
I understand what you’re saying but I think to say it’s dying is crazy. There is so much variety and you can play so many different ways. I have no complaints but that is just my opinion. I do want to say thanks for all your great videos and the time you put into them so thank you as well👍
i genuinely hate the sandstorm/firestorm/archon frequency when you could reward risky gameplay and not mod or skill spam
Ok so I stopped playing destiny and was looking for a game where I can have a sword and ranged weapon... either this or lords of the fallen... lies of p looks great also but I'm only buying one of those 3
I’ve try all of them, Remnant 2 for me is the best without doubts
@@JohnDoe-pu5gk I'm playing dragons dogma 2 now
@@ELEXANDERTHEGREAThell yeah bro, Remant 2 is my favortie game if the last year, Dragons Dogma 2 2nd and now The firsth Descendant💯
Remnant is for me a 2-300 hrs game, and I think that is fine. In fact I prfer it this way.
In the 2:00 what are the mods on the relic ?
We need more and better stuff. The nerfs are ruining the game man...
In a purely Co-op game, I feel like nerfing stuff should almost never be the answer. Not quite never, but it should be a absolute Last Resort
everything being soo strong makes the game way to easy and your not being rewarded for playing well. i finished the game in apocalypse mode with a sniper build in like 2 hours, there's no difficulty to it? i think instead of nerfing everything they should bring out a harder difficulty/modes and have rewards tied to them so its rewarding instead of just walking through boss fights.
The biggest problem is the AOE attacks being just as strong as single target attacks.
Stuff like firestorm/sandstorm should do way less damage when they can hit a whole boss room full of enemies at once.
And the Archon skill should either do less damage or have a more focused attack that can't hit infinite targets
What is "HUGS" again?
Maybe Gunfire Games needs to see how Monster Hunter balance out weapons, not exactly like Monster Hunter, but maybe they get some ideas.
Agree 100 %. Corrupted savior is still quite viable, but even then I just slap on havoc form for the boss fights most of the time, because the only reason not to is to challenge myself not to :l
Watch them just nerf the mod build but not buff any thing😂😂
Love your videos chaos, but here's two points to consider
(1) The shortest time to kill isn't actually that important for the average gamer. Not everyone is trying to speed kill bosses. I think most gamers are fine even if it takes them like 2-3 minutes (or maybe more) to kill a boss. As long as there are a wide variety of builds that can do this, and there are, I'd say it's fine. Let the speedrunners have their 20 second boss kills, while also letting the average gamer kill a boss with whatever build they wish to play
(2) I do 100% agree with you however that the game is busted. That class and that mod is just fuck busted right now
The reason the game is like this though is because the dev is trying to make people buy the DLC
It kind of reminds me of the Ritualist problem we had the previous DLC
Ritualist was hands down the most op class back then with unparalleled mob clearing capability, while also being able to keep up with the best boss killing builds
Thing is though, at least Ritualist was just one op class. You can ignore it if you want to, there's room for other op builds to exist
Invoker and sandstorm, otoh, makes whatever class or build you pair them with op
So yes, instead of releasing a new op class for this DLC, the devs have gone ham and released a class/mod that makes ALL OTHER classes op
Whatever build you're trying to craft, it can be made better just by adding Invoker and/or sandstorm to it
The state of the game right now is basically-
Idiot's guide to remnant: "struggling with your build? Not sure what to do? Just add Invoker or sandstorm! Or better yet, both!"
Who was there in the stream 🙋🏽♂️
Screw meta. Play your own build and have fun.
They should have everyone start new when DLC is introduced. Everyone has an over powered build and runs through the content in hours. I’m ready for the next round. I hear it’s N’Erud. 😳
No, that will drive people away. You go ahead and make a new character if you want though!
Youre right
Maybe this is a bad take but you don't have to run that build... but yes range needs a bit more love imo
When you feel your gameplay experience is ruined because there's another build out there that is better than yours
It just feels like
Hey buy the dlc and be op
