What are you starting? What about a Titan wielding a Stun Grenade running a double 2H offhand… or maybe a Gemling that paths over to Giants Bane to mitigate the downside of the double 2H penalty… so many ideas… EDIT: Correction on Low Life, threshold is 30% in PoE2 not 50% as it was in POE1
I think Titan will have more acces to Bleeding, once you stagger boss and u use your channaled strike (dont remember the name) you can deliver massive bleeding dmg to any enemies if you apply stun before. Also the aftershock looks really promissing with all thos Procced skills, when you can further proc aftershocks. I am 100% sure i will start Titan and WH as 2 first class. nothing to complicated, straightforward killing machines.
1:00 it seems like the “low” threshold is 30% now. If you listen to Jonathan talking about the infernalist ascendancy there’s a node that says “when infernal flame isn’t low” and he says “when infernal flame is above 30%”
Yes! DreamCore mentioned that to me right after I dropped the video (I left an errata note in the pinned comment). Lots of moving parts and I missed that one but it doesn’t affect the overall idea that much. Thanks for pointing it out I’m sure there will be an adjustment period where all the PoE 1 people are paging in new information.
Your Explosive Trap guides helped me push to content I had never gotten to before. My first Mageblood, first Headhunter, all earned from your ET builds. I'm super excited for PoE2 and had already planned to go Mercenary for my first character. Let's go!
Love it Fearless! Great info on "potential" interactions. I think I saw a cast on ignite support and if there is something similar for freeze, there might be a powerful synergy with the Freeze then Ignite build you're talking about. Imagine two 6 link triggers complimenting both freezes and ignites for clear and bossing, exciting stuff. The team you have for PoE 2 content is stellar, every one of them are excellent content creators. What a time to be alive for ARPG enjoyers! Thx for all the work brother!
Hyped for your return. Your guides and positivity surrounding the game has brought a lot of joy throughout the last few leagues for me. Can't wait to see what you unearth in PoE 2.
Cool to see you are starting Merc as well, ill probably follow your progress for the first few weeks while also keeping an eye on Snap and the crew since they are going to run 4 merc's apparently. Looking forward to further theory crafting!
Honestly so happy to find this video, was looking at frostfire skill with witch hunter. made a build on PO2 skills. Added fiery death support for 60% chance to explode when killing an ignited enemy would have some juicy map clear. Who doesn’t like to see them pop
I was planning do something similar but with a focus on Cluster grenade, which seems like a skill that's very similar to explosive trap, but doesn't benefit from projectile modifiers. In the end I'll probably include both skills and see whether I can buff both with Rapid Shot's heat, and maybe armor breaking (Armour Piercing Rounds) since some of the damage is physical, too.
So hyped to play witchhunter. I am new to poe for the most part and that class looks so fun. I will definetley be following along since my build making is sub par atm but I will still try
Gemling legionaire seems nice also, it gives you three extra skill slots, also you can take the node that lets you weild twohanded weapons in one hand, which also gives you +2 skill slots
After the presentation I am 100% starting witch hunter merc. It had looked alright in previous previews but the stream really sold me on it. Thinking I might try Titan as a secondary.
I can't wait to try the gemling legionnaire. Potentially it is busted, because it focuses on gems and combinations. Looks like it may be the most versatile ascendancy (and the best base for autobombers and weapon swap tech)
I wanna look into the dual-spec system more I'm seriously interested by a character that has one weapon set for clearing trash mobs, and another for boss killing so I always have what I need
going 2hander mace with exploding frost combos + shield slams or for hardcore, warrior, curse, posion slam build. GGG will balance things often as well so we'll see what happens but the demo I played slams are busted right now :)
NGL I only have like 40ish hours on POE. I'm gonna need some build guides asap, i've always just went with it and its worked but never really knew why.
Im making an Astartes going warrior but running a sword or spear shied build throwing in a crossbow to replace totems and warcrys I just really need to see how the warrior shields interact with crossbows. I use to run deadeye ranger claw in poe excited to try something new
Great video and sounds really nice if it works out. Might push me over the edge to start with merc aswell the Grenades look too great to pass on from all the footage 🤣Other choices are Warrior just slam stuff wich is always fun and maby Minion Witch for lazy mode but right now 1 merc , 2 warrior , 3 witch😁
Mines/traps and ballistas probably is the answer for that ascendancy to shine, but i didnt see anyone use them in early access, seems like they didnt add them, so grenades is a way to go
That initial big hit (decimating strike) is a *chance* to occur, and they didn't say the chance. Jonathan's exact words were, "your initial hit *CAN* deal up to 30% of their life, if you are lucky". Witchhunter came across as an RNG hunter. 10% chance to explode, 20% chance to reflect off terrain, ???% chance to deal 30% in initial hit, grenades have a 20% chance to explode a second time. This is for the player who likes those infrequent giant hits, even if they are RNG. Most of these will be reliable during trash packs, but not so much against bosses. The concentration and low-life damage buffs seem more promising, making
Decimating Strike is a guaranteed hit, we just don’t yet have information on average damage. That explode node is borderline broken. If you’ve played PoE1, and know what Oriath’s End is, take a closer look at it. It’s considered a standout clear item and only deals 10% of max life as Phys damage, not 100%. RNG is how ARPGs work. You stack the deck in your favor and let it rip.
theorycrafting stun grenade with devastate/overpower to combo into double barrel high velocity rounds; really depends on the stats of double barrel and how hard heavy stun is to get (w minmaxxing stun grenade) though
they are not. they coming later with the classes they are familiar with. Probably Flail-templar, spear-huntress, axe marauder, sword-duelist or gladiator?!?!?! dagger-assassin
I'm really looking forward to trying titan 2handed swords with flicker strike on a Gemling Legionnaire merc. I know they changed how flicker/dual wielding works but im sure someone will figure out how to break it once again ^_^
How about hammer of the gods to hit that beefy ignite. Paired with searing flame and ignition. 50% chance to ignite. Prob can find 50% chance somewhere else easy.
It does look amazing for bossing, but map clear reminds me of a trapper in poe 1. Need to aim and backtrack, avoid packs and all that. I played lots of trappers and this playstyle in maps can be tolling when compared to other classes.
@@cd8788 most is >50% of the time, which would be true if the low life threshold was still 50%, but it’s changed to 30% (I left an errata in the pinned comment). Decimating Strike still greatly improves the uptime of low life damage modifiers it’s just no longer guaranteed to be “most” of the time unless there are new LL threshold modifiers like we have for other new skills like Culling Strike Threshold.
I’m really looking forward to the tree too, I think there are some other promising merc ideas that don’t involve crossbows. Having a central start is big.
If your only arpg experience is diablo 4 then you should definately stick to some sort of guide because otherwise it will feel slow because your build will suck

EDIT: Correction on Low Life, threshold is 30% in PoE2 not 50% as it was in POE1
Gemling ascendancy says *gems* and not weapons so it's not gonna be working i think.
Will definitely be going for a grenade spamming witch hunter.
I'm starting crossbow PF, hoping to leverage the flask/concs for CC/debuff and then chain stun into railgun or something idk
I think Titan will have more acces to Bleeding, once you stagger boss and u use your channaled strike (dont remember the name) you can deliver massive bleeding dmg to any enemies if you apply stun before. Dual 2h Warrior might need to happen.

Cast on freeze -> flamewall
I was hoping you would make a boss killer build for POE2. I am so excited to watch and see what you are cooking up!
never played an ARPG before this will be my first bought early acces im very excited i seem to be in the right place
Comment to support! Great job man - I'm sure your MERC will be great!

Same! But you would be wrong about Cluster Grenade. It is tagged Projectile. I've got more info, coming in next video.
@@fearlessdumb0 Oh, you're right! Totally missed that it actually has a projectile tag. That makes it even better.

wait, ho does that node give you two more skill slots?
The slots in items are no longer for gems, right?
@@cyruslupercal9493yeah items have sockets but they're completely seperate from skill slots
The attribute satisfied by highest node for this class is for gems only not gear.
Very cool you're active again. Just yesterday I came back to your Focus amulet video, which might be my final project in Settlers.
I saw in one vid that some kind of toxic clouds also explode. It looked good to combo with your explosive grenades
After the presentation I am 100% starting witch hunter merc. It had looked alright in previous previews but the stream really sold me on it. Thinking I might try Titan as a secondary.
I feel like decimation and culling will be greatly reduced against bosses.

Bonestorm and rapid fire/shotgun ;) "Shrapnel lodges in enemies hit, causing Attacks against them to deal additional damage."
Interested to see what you cook, i plan on starting with witch hunter mercenary as well 😊

Oriath's end does 25% as random elemental damage
I’ve been creeping on doing gemling and going melee with giants blood route.
theorycrafting stun grenade with devastate/overpower to combo into double barrel high velocity rounds; really depends on the stats of double barrel and how hard heavy stun is to get (w minmaxxing stun grenade) though
Oh that sounds spicy. I was looking at stun grenades on a Titan if Heavy Stun is reasonable to get for the 40% more dmg. So much to consider!
Grate video 😎🤘keep grate work go in
man i REALLY hope dot cap isn't a thing in poe2. it won't matter at launch, but ggg, please
I'm hopeful. DoTs are really kneecapped in poe1 relative to hit builds, I imagine they would have taken the time to fix that with a new engine.
Are swords/daggers/flails/axes and spears available at launch? Didn't see any footage of them.
they are not. they coming later with the classes they are familiar with. Probably Flail-templar, spear-huntress, axe marauder, sword-duelist or gladiator?!?!?! dagger-assassin

cooldown recovery is golden for Merc's, as far as we know

TBH, Basically all of the gameplay for every class that I've seen looks like that. I have yet to see a zoom zoom endgame build.
Great theory craft! Login!
Amazing 💪
I wanna try some fire bell combo ^^ so maybe some mix with monk and mercenary or sorceress
Could be fun!
I hope we can get Path of Building updated before the EA.
Thanks much.

Mercenary, giants blood keystone duel wield big boys and ascendacy to do the 30% damage on initial hit. Big bonk
