I've been thrifting all my life. I've found some amazing thrift store steals, including a gold and carnelian ring worth over $1000. I paid $5 for it. Bored during Covid lockdown, I've looked for second had stuff online. I found a gold and diamond brooch from the 1910s for $5, and a gold and ruby brooch from the 1940s for $20. I never sell my finds though. I either keep them, or give them away.
As I’m watching this I just realised I’m so jealous of American thrift stores because everything is so much cheaper there than it is compared to here in England. The most impressive thing I found was a Gucci cross bodybag that was a little bit beaten up but I just replaced the strap and it was fine I only got it for 25 British pounds

It cost me $3,600 to go to Japan for two weeks on student exchange. It was a lot cheaper because we stayed with host families and didn’t need to pay for accommodation. $8,000 for two people to go to Italy sounds reasonable compared to that.

A woman I worked with for many years was an avid antique collector. She had a knack for finding valuable items at a cheap price. She once purchased an apothecary cabinet at a garage sale at some old farmstead. When she took it home and started cleaning it up, she discovered hundreds of dollars worth of old American bills hidden away in the backs of the little drawers.
I saw the documentary on this which Kevin Costner narrated. I was so elated for the man finding this picture of the regulators with Billy the Kid pictured! And the kicker, all of these " experts " didn't believe him!!!
This is kind of small but still exciting, I was looking at the jewelry at a goodwill in Ga and I noticed a pretty opal necklace and near it was what looked like matching earrings. Anyway I asked how much it would be if I purchased both (bc they would look good together).. paid $10. A lady next to me pulled out her loupe and asked me, since I already bought it, if I wanted to know it it was real or not. I said sure and it turned out it was! Took it days later to get cleaned and the jeweler told me the necklace alone was around $400. The gold was 10k. I couldn't believe it. I still have both pieces today and I'll give it to my daughter or maybe my granddaughter 🖤🖤🖤🖤

My grandma went to Goodwill one time and saw this photo of the Beatles and noticed that it was indented of the signatures of each of members. The ink was worn off and the people at Goodwill said it was fake but she had a feeling it was real. So she took it home and got it checked out and found out it was real!!! Idk how much it cost but it is very valuable but she still has it just in case it becomes more expensive.

My family at one time operated several antique stores, my sister and I still regularly shop thrift stores for "finds". My sister once bought an old book, and, upon getting the book home and opening it, found ten $100 bills inside. I have also had a few good finds- a high- end vintage electric guitar for $40, etc. I once spotted a Banksy print in a frame, but stupidly passed it up. Whoever bought it got a steal, I recall that the print had a $3.99 price tag on it.

I had a friend buy a jacket in a thrift store that had a Rolex in the pocket. It was 1st authenticated by a pond shop guy that offered $50 bucks for it. My boy got suspicious when the guy didn't want no for an answer and had it checked at a jewelry place instead that told him it was valued at $7,000.

Made me think of the father and son who found a VHS on the side of the road. They played it once they returned home and it was a video of a burning structure. They watched further and realized that the video was being shot by the arsonist who set the house/store [ sorry; I forget which ] ablaze. The arsonist was even speaking in a creepy voice; basically gloating over the fire as it destroyed fhe structure.
Crazy find for a random VHS on the side of a road. I want to say they ran out of gas or maybe the guy and his son had to pee or something. It was really random and they found that insanity just chilling there. I'm pretty sure I remember this arsonist was a serial offender and I'm pretty sure there was at least one fatality. I have to look it up. Pretty interesting, though.

I found a Vintage road bike worth $1,000 and I paid $120 at a goodwill. I have had the bike for 1 year and I have over 450 miles on it. I also use it to haul a trailer, to do sorceing and dropping off packages. Absolutely the coolest fined.

I do the thrifts an antiques a lot best find so far was picking up a bag of broken watches for 11bucks and inside was a 18k Tiffany watch. All places I took to verify it laughed an said no way would it be real if it was such a bag then their face dropped when it turned out to be a real deal Tiffany watch 😂😂

We got a set of 6 teacups & saucers for a couple of bucks at a thrift store. After several months using them, I got curious about the stamping underneath. It turned out to be a mid-century modern design by famed Swedish designer Arthur Percy for the Upsala Ekeby ceramic works. A full set can sell for several hundred dollars, depending on condition.
