Very nice job Chuck. I was also surprised to see all the connections in the back of the dishwasher. When I recently installed a new LG I moved the power line under the sink and connected it to a GFCI outlet. Wired a power cord onto the dishwasher to plug into the GFCI along with the garbage disposal I also installed. Using a cordless receiver transmitter to turn the disposal on and off. Everything works great no leaks.

I have same cat but mine has darker face and ears. Just spent $415.00 on her to clean teeth and pull 2 that didn't have any enamel left. She had been sick for awhile on and off. So the week before she had $150.00 work done on skin and ear infections. She lost her black mask and ear hair. Coming back now. Doing good now and won't leave me alone. I think she knows I made her feel better. Since kids all gone I didn't replace dish washer after it went bad. Just the 2 of us now so we just sink wash. Thanks for video Chuck!

I have been reading the instructions to install a new Bosch dishwasher. They mention that you should connect the water line and turn on the water to check for leaks before pushing it back into place. I would also wait a few minutes since the lines would be full of air and the leak wouldn't show up instantly. This was a great video and it explained things I didn't fully understand in the instructions.

This makes me glad I live in the U.K, by law all appliances come with a fitted plug, and we can plug anything into any outlet. There is normally a double socket under the sink, sometimes two, makes installing / replacing / servicing a dishwasher so much easier. Connections have always been at the back here, much easier than fiddling underneath. I prefer to run the drain and water under sink cabinet and up the rear or in the corner of the base as it meant they don't kink or get trapped so easily. Final tip- wind the feet down a little first, and spray the floor with pledge and it will slide back really easily, then just adjust the front slightly as required.

I just installed a high end Bosch dishwasher. Be sure to read the install manual, being very mindful of the dimensions given. If the sink is to the left of the dishwasher the electric cord is very short. I don't know if that electric plug on the dishwasher comes out or not once it snaps in. Pray you never have to remove it for service!

Installed mine today, this video saved a TON of misery. The front legs on this thing are a crime against humanity. What I discovered by looking underneath is that a 10mm allen wrench will loosen them easily when you have access from below (my helper tipped it back and held it for me). Looks like whoever assembles this part in the factory drives 'em in good-n-hard with a power driver. I lowered the legs far enough to get an open end wrench on before sliding the dishwasher into the opening. Fortunately there was room under my counter to "pre-lower" the legs. Thanks again. Great video and it saved me lots of grief.

very helpful, thanks. I just installed a Bosch 500 series dishwasher, and this was a helpful look ahead. Mine was replacing a Kitchenaid that had a right angle compression to 3/4 hose fitting supply line so I could just use it. Ironic because the dishwasher came with a line and the right angle fitting - maybe they listened to you? the other challenge i had was that the drain hose provided already attached to the dishwasher (nice) was set up to fit over a 1/2" to 3/4" feed into the garbage disposal or drain. My garbage disposal was 7/8" or 1" of course. I ended up getting a soft adapter with hose clamps to the disposal, and cutting 3" long piece of CPVC tubing to join them together. Seems to work, but a good pain to watch out for.

I installed one of these for my mom this weekend. Yeah, the instructions said to put the electric box in the adjacent cabinet. I cheated a little, b/c she had a hole in her drywall behind the dishwasher the perfect size to hold the box, so I put it in there. Just like you, I had so much trouble getting the front legs to unscrew that I had to pull the washer back out and get them started. They should put in the instructions to lower them enough to get the 11/16 wrench into them before installing the dishwasher. I really screwed up on not knowing how to raise the back leg before installing. There's a nut in the back you can turn and I thought I had to use that before putting it in. Later on, I tried to adjust it in the front and something broke to where I can't adjust it now. The other thing to watch out for is to not raise the washer up too high if you're using mounting brackets in the front. When the door closes, the panel can be very close to the metal brackets and there's a risk of scratching it. Thanks for making a video. Wish I had seen it before my install.

I completely enjoyed your video, especially because I just replaced our 17 year old Bosch with another Bosch a couple of days ago and could empathize with your annoyances. It probably would have been prudent to have have had the Bosch pulled out of its enclosure when you connected the water supply line and turned it on so that you could check for leaks on the dishwasher side and the valve side together. I really loathe plumbing and never assume something is leak proof until I have stared at it for a long moment.
Bosch provided a front foot wrench for the unit that made it easy to level it. Our unit also came pre-wired so that all that was necessary was to connect their power cord on one side into the unit and the other into a wall receptacle the same as one would do with a computer. Thanks again for the insights and entertainment.

Just my observations from a day installing the SHPM88Z75N from Abt. Chicago (where in stock really means that) who shipped it almost free via air in 3 days to OH after I was baited for one month with system rescheduled vaporware deliveries with both HD and Lo's, never again. Now after a week of use I really see why the 800 series are the Teslas of dishwashers.
    1. Have someone tilt it backward safely and unscrew front feet by hand until the wrenchable part is visible, it will save you pain later.
    2. IMHO junction box should not go behind the dishwasher if your counter depth is 24", but rather take under the sink right above the cabinet hole, read below. Maybe just use the power cord, but I did not want to lose the dedicated breaker.
    3. If you have to drill holes for drain, inlet, and power make it as close to ground as possible, this will keep the inlet and drain pipes flush with the recessed slanted space under the back end, especially in a sink-to-the-right install.
Drain has to have a very high point above the garbage disposal or it will backflow into machine, I used the plastic holder, it also secures the extra two loops on my 8' inlet hose. Sink the rubber end of the drain in hot water for five minutes, it will make sliding it onto the sink/disposal connector a breeze.
    4. When pushing back make sure you keep machine flush with the side away from sink, that way you get 1/2" so you can shine light and inspect for kinks, move machine 2", then pull hoses, repeat until done, then you can center machine. I had a kinked drain.
Kudos to you and your wife for making this not only educational but also fun. It is thanks to you that this pen pusher installed his first dishwasher.
PS: What drain pipes are you using under sink? They look WW3 proof.

    The kitty is so adorable!
Gorgeous kitchen! I love that your appliances are custom panel. Nice range hood cover too.
Love how the kitty just stepped right over you. Mine like to sit on my tools.
Does steel wool actually work to keep mice out? I live in the middle of the woods and mice constantly get in. The cats catch the ones they can reach but the mice ruined my oven/stove. Got into the insulation in it and nested. Can't use rat poison bc it will kill the cats.
I would say cutting the wire that short may have been a mistake. Even if you have to coil it, it's a good idea to leave electrical wires a little bit long. You can always cut them back if there is too much but once you cut if it's too short it's a problem. If the ends go bad you want to be able to trim them. It also helps to have more wiggle room when pulling on them. I've learned that the hard way.
All the effort to install a drop-in/slide-in dishwasher is why I have a freestanding one with wheels. LOL. Problem is, it's harder to find faucets they can hook up to. The crappy dishwasher in my house is a big clunky drying rack & movable island. I haven't run it in years because I hate loading & unloading. I have to wash dishes before putting them in for them to get clean so there's no point. I just wash them by hand. LOL.
Aww. Little doggy wanted to inspect the work too.
Yeah, reading instructions is important. I have to use a magnifying glass on most things these days. LOL.
I take it the new dishwasher couldn't fit the custom panel? Pity, because it looked nice.
This was educational and interesting. My best friend is re-using an old dishwasher from his grandfather's house (grandfather got a new dishwasher-- hell, hole new kitchen- after a tree fell on the house). We're going to build a cabinet and install it. I believe the cabinet it was in was destroyed by water damage.
Does the Bosch dishwasher need a diffuser plate on top to keep moisture from damaging the underside of the countertop?

Installed one of these today. The one I put in didn’t come with a cord and junction box. Just a cord and plug. So I had to cut out drywall and install an old work junction box and install outlet behind dishwasher. I was surprised that water connection was in the back, but had a long enough braided hose to make it work. Like you, I also fought those damn adjustable front legs and also chewed them up a bit. In the end, I got it done. Happy customer, now on to the next job!

I haven't bought this machine, but I image that the adjustable legs would unscrew more easily if you loosen up the setscrew. That screw is facing rearward, inside the hole seen immediately above the leg. Then when the legs are adjusted to taste, tighten up the setscrew to secure your adjustment. Btw, I'm no plumbing expert, I just saw this mentioned in another video. Hope that helps.

Great video, thanks. Took all anxiety about installing my first dishwasher. A couple of things to note that may help others. My Bosch 300 series came with a power cord. The store also included the junction box with power cord no charge. If the store tries to charge you for the junction box, you can skip it and install your own standard box with 115V grounded plug under your sink. I can't guarantee this would be to code in all localities, but it does seem a safe option to me. Second I purchased a dishwasher install kit. All I needed out of that kit was the 6 foot braided water hose and the 90 deg hose to compression fitting connector. I could have saved a few bucks on that stuff. Just for fun, the leftover unused parts I have are two power cords, a 90 deg pipe thread to compression fitting connector, 3/8 NM cable strain relief, three yellow wire nuts, and some teflon tape. More for the spare parts collection that I really don't need! :)

I wish I would have seen this about 12 hours ago lol. I replaced a bosch with a bosch and thought it would be a simple in and out.... WRONG! those connections in the back. The old one was hardwired but this one came with a plug didn't know that. Had to head back to the store the next day to buy the junction box because of the "plug" part. had to make the holes in the cabinets bigger for the drain line. Why why why is the hot water connection in the back. keep it in the front in order to detect leaks easier.
That all said Bosch are amazing and out of this world quiet. I did really appreciate the way that the back feet/foot were adjusted by the set screw in the front.

Actually the junction box, according to 2021 series 500, says it should be mounted in the adjacent cabinets, not under or behind dishwasher.
And if you have a plug under your sink, save your money and use the free cord that comes with the dishwasher and skip the junction box altogether.

If you already have house wiring in the back of the DW opening, you can install a box low enough that it won't interfere. That's a lot easier than having to install a whole new outlet under your sink. Just do a quick test fit with the box where you think it will work to be sure.

The junction box Boch supplied for hardwiring your dishwasher is supposed to be installed against an adjacent cabinet (ie under the sink) which really sucks when you have your wiring coming in behind the dishwasher. There is not enough space behind the dishwasher to mount the junction box against the wall, even down by the floor. trust me. So i had to feed a flex whip from behind the dishwasher into the sink cabinet into the junctio nbox, then run the cord back to the dishwasher.

@9:22 NOooooo ... Don't cut the wire! (You had you plumber hat on and needed an electrician hat for a couple minutes.)
Just stuff the extra back down the hole, or reroute it out of the way. If the decision is to cut it shorter, make sure the line can reach up into the sink cabinet with enough to work with for a regular junction box in case the next DW is a traditional hookup, and can be either plugged in or hardwire with a piece of MC for a whip.

low voltage on the line after the breaker is off is probably due to the inaccuracy of your voltage meter. digital meters tend to pick up phantom voltage rather easily due to the way they detect voltage. nothing to be concerned about unless a high end fluke meter picks up more than a couple of volts

I haven't watch the rest of the video yet but looking for the way you mount it. I usually side mount the ones I install when you have granite or quartz countertops. This is also my first Bosch dishwasher that has the water in the back and the electric as well pretty simple. But do you pre-drill the membrane when side mounting? Hopefully I will find out towards the end of the video

U.K. Dishwashers & washing machines are all connected at the back , the waste & water are normally run with in the 150mm (6") plinth space behind so when you push it back it doesn't foul it from going right back in . The electrics are always fitted inside the kitchen unit so you don't have to pull the machine out to remove it.
Fully integrated appliances are a pain as they take forever to fit the door front on them.
Also with granite work tops the top bracket on the machine can't be screwed to it for obvious reasons so you normally silicone it.
The waste hose is normally fished under the unit & then up into the cabinet & taken above the flood level of the sink to stop water re entering the appliance .
I have a slimline Bosch in my house awesome product & my washing machine.
British & europen appliances are totally different than USA models .
You mostly have free standing appliances so they are so much easier to fit .
Remember we have washing machines in our kitchens whereas you have them in your basement , you lucky people 😂

Hi Chuck. We just ordered Bosch model # SHPM65Z55N - would this video apply to that model? And do we need the junction box? (Home Depot said we did not.) Also I notice that when I shine a light to one of the sides of the current dishwasher one of the sides doesn't have a cabinet wall (the under sink cabinet has 2 walls but the dishwasher side is a little angled to the right side of the sink and I think right there there is no wall) - if I'm right that there isn't a cabinet wall right next to one side of the dishwasher, is that a big issue? Thanks.
