Consumer Reports recommends this (Bosch 800) and rates it very highly!! I give up. Our 2.5 year old Kitchaid had a leak, we were displaced from our house for rennovations over a month. So hard to pick out any appliance these days. Seems like "they just don't make them like they used to". Yes, many upgrades and better features but things don't seem to last. Good thing we can connect to our dishwashers with WIFI though, haha. Focus on them working well and not breaking before fancy features we don't REALLY need... please!!
Be careful when deciding to connect your dishwasher to Wi-Fi. I tried doing that today. Then I read the privacy notice on the app I had downloaded. I realized how much information I would have to give up *voluntarily* by agreeing to their terms. I decided to leave my dishwasher dumb.
I thought I was being overly clean because I cleaned the seals occasionally. It's obvious that I should be doing it more often! Thanks for the tip! By the way, I bought this dishwasher because it was supposed to be the best and I hate it! I can't get all my dishes into it easily. And I think the directions about how to change cycles is explained in the most obtuse manner possible!
I Bosch 800 two months ago and the service tech has been out here 4 times. After the third time he was "hinting" that we were the problem, ( which is what I was waiting for) then I showed him 12 videos of me trying to start the dishwasher to no avail. That checked his attitude. He replaced the computer board once now he's doing that again on Monday again. I told him I paid for a three-year contract and he'll get a call every time it fails to start by pushing, START, CYCLE, and GO. I will not put up with having to RESET the dishwasher every time I need to use it. Last week it took 30 minutes to get it to start. Again, this is a brand new unit only months old.
I had a similar experience. After waiting weeks for Bosch to send their "authorized" Bosch repairman, I only received excuse after excuse that it was my problem, an install error, etc. When I called up an independent repairman I use for rentals, he pointed out the defective gasket in the Bosch supplied hose. There's a reason the Google and Yelp reviews for BSH Home Appliances (who directs Bosch's servicing) are dismal.
Same problem here, press On/Off then Mode, Cycle and Start. I can tell it starts when the sink gurgles, otherwise no way to tell and you cant open the door or it goes into child prevention mode and wont restart, so you gotta hit reset. Then sometimes it stops mid-cycle and leaves water in the bottom and you never know that there is an error light flashing because ther is no exterior display. How F*ing Stupid is that. You have to do a machine care cycle to get it to drain. The filters also clog frequently and must be cleaned almost every wash so you have to make sure to rinse dishes well before loading them. This thing is real finicky. When it works it does a nice job but thats only about 50% of the time. Get the home connect app to change settings like hard water because trying to program the machine is impossible. I will read the manual for the fifth time :o(. At least it doesn't have AI yet and runs the washing machine instead of doing dishes!
I guess we are very fortunate, we have had ours for almost 8 years and haven't had any of those issues. Thank you for the heads up on the door seal area making sure it's clean. Tell your viewers that to make sure to clean the filter regularly.
Yeah my guess is that they had a bad batch of these. Or it's related to getting it installed correctly the first time to keep the door closing tight. Who knows though.
I bought one of these dishwashers 2.5 years ago. I was not able to find a sensible way to install the mounting clips, so I have a bit of a wobble issue. It also took a bit of practice to get the thing to start correctly: carefully press the center of the Power button, then carefully press the center of the Start button, then carefully close the door. But now, it's not an issue. I have not had any of the other problems you discuss. I love this appliance, especially since it's so quiet you can't tell whether it's running. When it dies, I am going to get it stuffed and mounted in the family room above the fireplace.
You are missing one issue: The flimsy door can bend while opening and closing which stresses the top plastic bezel causing it to crack. The first thing you notice with this dishwasher is how flimsy the door is compared to any older dishwashers you may have had. BOSCH will not replace the bezel, even if your dishwasher is under warranty because they deem it a "cosmetic" issue. I say it is a design issue and I predict that this dishwasher will be plagued with cracking bezels until they issue either a door reinforcement kit or a reinforced bezel. It is too bad because otherwise this is an excellent dishwasher.
I'm replacing my Bosch 800. The existing is 12 years old. It served me well - and why because Bosch makes a great product. Love everything about it. Cleans exceptionally well, stainless inside, adjustable racks, easy filter clean up, very quiet when running, no element on the bottom that melts plastic containers, I find air dry is a great energy saver - safety float eliminating floods etc. I recommend this to everyone!
I paid for a dishwasher...and that has always included a drying time. This machine is horrible as it doesn't dry at all! I'm so disappointed. It's the most expensive DW we've ever bought and is the worst! I'm constantly doing more laundry to wash all the dishtowels from drying my dishes all the time ....hence no timesaver for me and I have to use both my washer and my dryer more often! I used to have a clothes line, but many neighborhoods deem them 'unsightly' now and HOA's don't allow them.
Love this dishwaster. Second one we bought because we moved. We have had none of these problems but the mounting brackets could be better. We couldnt get it perfectly staight within the cupboard.
We have only had our Bosch 800 about 2 months. This morning I could not get my dishwasher to start. I checked the manual and there wasn’t a troubleshooting page. Grrr. Glad I found your video. I think it’s a bracket issue. I was able to get it to finally start by leaning on the door to get it to close more firmly and seal, and therefore finally start. I’m going to have to keep an eye on it though to make sure it doesn’t wobble loose mid-cycle. Bummer we’re dealing with this issue when we thought we were buying top of the line.
Our Bosch is about 16 years old and the only thing I’ve had to repair has been the door gasket. After 13 years, gasket had turned to mush at the bottom corners and started to leak a little. Easy fix and the unit is going strong.
We just bought the Bosch 800 dishwasher. I noticed that without the rinse aid it doesn’t dry the dishes very well even using the crystal dry mode. Not loving it as much as I had hoped.
@@mel-y1ndid you try this? Does it work? I need to buy a dishwasher tonight, if it sucks at drying I’ll get something cheaper (I won’t use rinse aid but I’ll use vinegar)
We just got a new 800 series (3 days old) because our last 800 series we had for12 yrs needed to be replaced. We loved it. We hate the new one. The door is flimsy and the technician said we must open it only in the middle of the handle…really? it doesn’t dry, even though it has the new crystal dry. I live in the desert…I should let the hot outside air dry it…because the feature doesn’t work. …we were told we have to wipe all the water from the inside door after every wash. Whaaaat, I now have to clean my dishwasher after every wash…that doesn’t make sense no matter how u try to spin t. I’m trying to take it back. Don’t buy a Bosch 800 series. I hope ur able to get a different brand.
We bought the same Bosch 800 series dishwasher, but with the handle. It was installed yesterday. We are not having any issues with it (fingers crossed). Our door snaps shut by itself very tightly (and a little noisy). Before the Bosch we had a Whirlpool Gold Series dishwasher that lasted almost 17 years. It was quite noisy and didn't clean that well anymore. We decided to treat ourselves with a top-rated QUIET dishwasher. It will take us some time adapting to the layout and where to load things, but I'm sure we'll get used to it.
Glad to see someone has had success; have had mine for over six months, tried EVERYTHING, just unloaded, a typical load...RESULT: 5 Bowls, 1 Spoon, 1 Cup, and 2 Plates have to be rewashed, i.e. HANDWASHED...that's about average! I'd show a picture/video if I knew how. I know it looks good, but bottom line...at least the 500 series...SUCKS.
Mine lasted for 4 years. I had the same issue with the door seal. Last error was the fan. Repairman replaced it and said there were more issues that would cost more to fix than to replace with a new unit. There was no charge for replacing the fan. When I spend top dollar I expect something to last more than 4 years. They lost me as a customer.
We have a Bosch 800 dishwasher and have had zero problems with it, No issues with the mounting brackets, did you adjust the feet both front and rear? That would help stabilize the unit. No issues with the door seal either. No problems with the middle rack and no issues with the factory setting for the Jet Dry rinse, if you are getting to much Jet Dry rinse read the manual it will tell how to adjust the amount of Jet Dry the cycle uses.
I believe I got a lemon. If you watch my other video where I discussed the water tap error in detail, there are hundreds of comments of folks who had the same issue. I think they had a bad batch. I have reached out to Bosch and they won't help me. I'm about to scrap this thing unfortunately. I've adjusted the feet, adjusted the rinse aid settings multiple times.
Our dishwasher was professionally installed and we have had none of the issues you talk about so far. It really gets the dishes sparkling clean and even plastic is dry unless of course it is loaded with flat surface with a ridge level. Hope none of the problems you describe never occur!
@@randydowell3902 Yes that's what we have been doing. Also probably better for you. I think I mentioned that in the video with the vinegar it doesn't seem to spit it out all over the place. Or if it does, it just dries up and we don't notice.
Your floor may be out of level on one corner. A twist in the body would cause the same symptoms. It's possible that the chassis is a bit twisted on its own too. I get a soap film left on my travel mug. I thought it was the stainless steel until now. I haven't checked myself yet, but I suspect it could be from a clogged filter allowing some soapy water to remain during the rinse cycle. I used to work for Bosch and their designs need to be set up exactly. Perfectly level and plumb at all corners, plenty of water pressure, etc. Check the water inlet for mineral deposit buildup the same as you would a washing machine. Replace the pump and inlet screen or try a CLR type of solution accordingly.
awesome. yeah I think they had a bad batch, especially given the number of comments on this and my other Bosch video complaining of the same issues. Glad you got a good one!
I stopped using rinse aid in my old Maytag dishwasher many years ago because of a recall on the dispenser. The entire door was replaced even though I never had any issues with my rinse aid dispenser. The repairman told me (after he did the replacement) that there was no guarantee that the new dispenser would work properly OR that the new door would seal properly! Why do the replacement? Fortunately, the new door does seal. I got around the rinse aid issue by using Cascade Complete with rinse aid already in it. I was thinking of getting a Bosch if I need to replace my old Maytag one day, but not anymore.
Thanks for the video. Reading other viewers' comments gave me lots of reasons NOT to buy this now. Our 30 year old FW finally died and I know we will be unhappy with a new one.
We just got the E 15 error. Pulled it out and ran a cycle and it is leaking from the heater gasket. We also have a problem with the clips and the rinse aid issue.
Just to clarify, it's the zeolite seal underneath that is leaking. You have to take apart the entire dishwasher essentially to replace it. We ordered a new 800 series. Our current broken one was a warranty replacement for our previous Samsung, so we didn't have to purchase it the first time. We bought the 5 year warranty on top of the 2 year manufacturer warranty, so that should at least give us 7 years or more this time instead of 3 years and 3 months 😩
@@poodledad I just stopped using rinse aid all together... It would leave rinse aid on those bottom dishes, it was awful. Wouldn't wany to consume that while using a bowl 🤮. Maybe I'll use vinegar on the new one. That's what I use for the rinse cycle in my washer 🤷♀️
I'm so glad I found this video. I went ahead to wipe my door seal only to find the contractors who installed it didnt bother with a bracket on 1 side and decided to use a long screw to screw the dishwasher to the counter......smh
I had an earlier version, the SHX57C05UC/31 and more recently an 800 (SHX78CM5N). The UNIVERSAL problem with these (and ALL Bosch) dishwashers is the turbine pump. For such an expensive machine, this is the cheapest, nastiest piece of plastic imaginable and it is almost certain to fall apart. Usually we get between 5 and 7 years before the tiny pegs which hold the two halves of the turbine together either snap off and/or disintegrate. The one and ONLY reason we threw out the SHX57 was because the turbine repair kit is no longer available anywhere. I have considered machining a turbine from aluminum with a plastic seat for the seal to the pump motor, but honestly I don't see why I should do Bosch's job for them. The 800 is a much nastier piece of machinery (than my SHX57) and Bosch should really be ashamed of themselves. Mine, at least, came without any rear insulation padding (only the sides and tops were deemed worthy of sound insulation). The insulation at the bottom of the machine and along the edges is also mostly absent (again, compared to the SHX57). This probably explains why the new 800 (at least mine) is more than 4db noisier than the SHX57C. I figure I will buy some more padding off e-bay and cut-to-shape padding for the MANY exposed areas which don't have acoustic insulation. The very first thing you do when you buy any 800 dishwasher is rip off the plastic/metal grip on the middle shelf. It ALWAYS jams up against the door! ALWAYS. This is clearly a design fault and it's something Bosch needs to fix. Mine came with a weird burn-like mark where the metal BOSCH plate touches the door. It is easy to remove and you'll save yourself so many issues. In general we haven't had an issue with the door seals. Nor do we clean the machine. However, we also have a whole-house water softener which seems to make everything from appliances to faucets work and work and work. To give you some idea. For our 5 person home, I have replaced ONE shower valve in 19 years of ownership. I cannot overstate the value of having a water softener if you live in an area like Phoenix which has horrible water. The next worst feature is the drain pump. This is garbage. It gets noisy and weak at around 4-5 years. When I buy a Bosch the very first thing I do is buy a new drain pump. Now to be fair, unlike the turbine repair kit, the drain pump is still available - which is good as this too is cheap and nasty. Of course it isn't cheap if you buy the part from Bosch. Finally we get to the control panel. I could go into great detail, but sooner or later one of the relays will burn out or de-solder itself. Long explanation short, these parts are running too close to their design limits for comfort. When you stress a component it is simply going to fail earlier. As with everything Bosch, their dishwashers are insanely over-priced and out-of-date. Heck, while LG have DC motors, I believe my new 800 series comes with an old AC pump with a run capacitor! Seriously! In this day-and-age! So then, why do I buy Bosch? Well 19 years ago when I bought my first, it was simply the best around. But the competition has caught up and at much, much better prices. I would probably recommend an LG quadwash pro. It too is rated at 42db but I've found in real world use it's a markedly quieter 42db dishwasher compared to the Bosch 800. Personally I think Bosch management is indolent and greedy. Ditto their engineers who design this disappointment. Would I recommend anything Bosch? Well, yes and no. The simple truth is that for some reason, Bosch works better than the competitors. I can't really explain why - certainly isn't the fundamental technology - but whether it's an old Bosch Benvenuto B20 coffee machine or the latest induction stove top... Bosch seem to deliver a product that works. At least for a while. My advice? If you must buy Bosch, also buy the longest warranty you can afford - you are going to need it. The problem is this: I have yet to see any machine, developed in the past 15 years, that is worth the money. Not one.
Agree, boo on Bosch. What would you recommend for a 24" front panel ready QUIET dishwasher instead? I need one right now for a renovation. Thank you! Blessings.
Our leak was from the diverter valve, I had to run a load with it pulled out so I could see where the leak was coming from. Have the DV on order, according to RUclips videos it doesn't seem that hard to replace. Other than that we love the 6 year old machine.
Useful review and comments Was going to go Bosch but think will stay with KA. Agree, none of the machines built that well anymore. Subscribed-because you respond to comments.
We had a 6 y0 Bosch 500 series. It sensed a leak under the unit that disabled it. We were told the pump that runs the unit would have to be replaced at a cost of $600 plus the $150 diagnostic run. We oped to replace it. We install the Benchmark unit a few weeks ago and right away were amazed by how unexpectedly clear the glassware was turning out after cleaning. I thought their drying method upgrade was just a marketing thing, but it is the real deal. Installing was tricky, but the delivery team hired in the Bay Area in CA did great. It is solid. We'll see how it lasts. The previous model was not solid, as Poodle Dad reports about his 800 series. We are taking note to keep the seals on the door wiped down and just hoping for the best, because we are thrilled with the results. This is a massive upgrade in terms of results. And while it comes with a flatware rack that is too small for a big mean, we have converted to using the upper flatware rack which individually racks each spoon, fork, and knife.
Some of those problems are experienced with every dishwasher installed into a badly prepped cabinet cavity. If it wobbles, the floor under it isn't solid enough(common), the floor isn't level (common) and/or the washer's cabinet is twisted. A "spongy" floor can happen over time as the cavity is exposed to high humidity and molding conditions. Fix the first with a piece of 1/4" floor tile backer board cut to fit the cabinet opening and the second with floor leveling compound under it. Do these and unless your countertop isn't level, you won't need to jack up one corner of the dishwasher to "square it up", twisting it. A twisted washer cabinet will prevent a good seal between the washer cabinet and door. Wobble will pop the door open.
I have had the same issue with the brackets and have reinstalled everything a half-dozen times, including double-checking that it is level, etc. I have concluded that the brackets are simply designed poorly.
You should check the latch on the dishwasher and make sure it clicks up and down and is in the right position. Sometimes it sticks down in the lock and then won't allow the door to fully latch. Then the sensor switch on wont engage
I wonder if the current quality standard isn't as good as in the past. Maybe that's why some love this dishwasher and others hate it. Maybe those who have had it a while love it and those who have bought it more recently hate it. I need to buy a new dishwasher. I'm very hesitant about Bausch 800 now.
Whew, just started ours up today for the first time. Lots of condensation coming off the machine when we open it up. I have to say, I've never seen this type of problem with any other dishwasher we've owned. We have a granite top which is dripping condensate above the door when we open the door. If we had a laminate top, we would have already ruined it with the degree of hot wetness that the machine has created on the underside of the top. And, yes, the mounting brackets are crap and the gasket around the edges is crap. Actually, the nylon cord that serves as the door hinge mechanism is crap too. And, while I'm at it, the feet and their adjustment are crap as well.
Contact the BBB. Many folks say they don’t help, but I’ve had nothing but solid help using them. Best Buy, AT&T wireless, etc. Give it a shot, it is cheaper than scraping the thing.
I was actually considering Bosch as a future replacement. My sister swears by hers, but I’ll stick with whirlpool. The whirlpool still uses a heating element on the bottom, which I actually like to dry the dishes.
The exposed heating element in most dishwashers was the exact thing I was hoping to avoid in getting a new dishwasher so many years ago. The Bosch heats it's water inline with the pump so there's no danger of melting your plastics. As long as you use the Crystal Dry setting on the button panel and use rinse aid, your dishes will be perfectly dry.
@@InexplicableBillwhat if I don’t use rinse aid? I don’t want chemicals which is all rinse aid products. I’m reading you can use vinegar as alternative.. might work. But it won’t dry at all without it?
@@Mary-bw6go I think that drying without rinse-aid is just more likely leave water spots on your glassware. This is especially true if your water source produces "hard" water (an excess of calcium and magnesium). My town's water leaves terrible calcium deposits on our cars when we hand wash them in the driveway unless we're cautious to hand dry when done. If your water is like this you could possibly put a special filter on the water line to your kitchen sink to reduce the "scale". I too worry about the chemicals in rinse-aid, I just haven't gotten off my butt to do anything about it yet. 🤨 Maybe those chemicals have made me lazy. 😜
I've had my Bosch 800 for 18 mos. The black rubber soundproof was cut in half. No idea how that happened. Bosch sent a replacement for free ($18 part) however no instructions how to replace it. Service call will be $250. How can I replace it myself?
You have to utilize Jet Dry I had Bosch at my house 2 weeks later with the same complaint! and here's what the Tech said: Jet Dry must be used - Plastic will also not dry like dishes. They don't have a heating element on the bottom. Look up Key Points to Bosch Dishwashing Drying. It will explain further.
Yeah I was using Jetdry rinse aid until I had the rinse aid issue that i went over in the video. It was shooting the rinse aid all over the dishes and it was leaving stains on then. So weird. Now I'm using white vinegar and that seems to be much better.
I've been looking at the Bosch 800 but am on the fence because so many newer appliances seem to have durability issues. I'm replacing a Whirlpool Gold that has served our large family well since 2004 - that's just over 20 years - because it started to shut off mid-cycle and the door spring finally broke. The plastic pieces on my old dishwasher have been replaced over the years but I think it's time to let this one retire.
Dadgummit man, I was going to buy this dishwasher. We bought a 3 year old house with Whirlpool appliances and the dishwasher is falling apart. I think the builder just cheaped out on crap appliances. Figured I'd splurge on a Bosch 800 but now I don't know. I have yet to have a dishwasher in any house that didn't wobble, though. I think it's just my luck none of them were installed correctly. Don't know what to get. I don't mind spending a little extra. Just want something that works. Don't really need fluffy features either. What dishwasher would you recommend?
I’m also not sure what to buy, whether the Bosch 800, the high end LG or top of the range Fisher & Paykel. I’ll be purchasing in 10 days time. Wish me luck. Every model in the world has at one stage or another had a bad review or owner disappointments.
I think it's random. In the time I have had my Whirlpool Gold, my aunt has had 3 dishwashers, including a Bosch. Her experience is the brand doesn't matter as they all last 3-4 years regardless. Buy an extended warranty and you should be covered. Best of luck.
@@Kalanioccc we ended up getting the Bosch 800 back in July and so far we've been very happy with it. It's so quiet. In full disclosure, my parents ended up gifting this to us as a late house warming gift, was totally unexpected, so we're very blessed. Although it's only been 3.5 months at this point, we do use it every day, or almost and no hiccups yet.
Hmmm. I bought mine in 2017 but haven't had any problems. Mine has mounting clips, but I used larger and longer screws than what it came with. I also raised the height of the back maybe 1/4" higher than the front so all 4 pads are firmly on the floor (there is a screw behind the front bottom toe kick panel to adjust the rear height) Door always seals, never had it stop mid-cycle. For the rinse aid issue, there is an option to reduce the amount of rinse aid used per cycle. I think there are 6 levels on mine and the factory setting is #5. I changed mine to 3 because I live alone and tend run it before its full. Yours may be different, but on mine I first press the button to turn it on, then hold down the button for "Normal" load and "Start" buttons at the same time. After a few seconds it beeps and the display shows r:03 (as I use the 3rd setting. Pressing other buttons cycles through from r:00 (rinse aid option off) to r:06 (highest amount dispensed each cycle). Good luck...hope you get yours to work better, I've been happy with mine.
Awesome. Glad yours is working well. Mine had the rinse aid issue no matter what setting of rinse aid I tried. I've switched to white vinegar instead of a commercial rinse aid and now I don't have issues. No idea what causes that one.
@@poodledad I can totally understand that. There is a reason why they were used as circus dogs. I'm not sure if there is any breed that is smarter or more lovely with families. I had a bijion, which are technically part poodle. She was pretty damn smart too
2:30. Hello My Bosch stops mid cycle and the time display blinks (not the red light). I believe it’s because of the steam buildup inside the dishwasher pushing the door open due to steam pressure - as it gets back to work when I push the door.
I have the same dishwasher. Zero problems after 18 months. Time will tell. It seems like a lot of your problems are related to your mounting space (tabs, door seal, etc). Maybe not, but they do seem related.
I think you are correct. Or I think they had a bad batch of these which had door seal issues. But if you read the comments on this and my other video, I'm not the only one. There's a reason these Bosch videos I made have over 300,000 views.
Is it normal that the interior of the 800 is wet after each cycle? The side walls and doors are always wet on mine. Dishes are dried except for plastics.
I remember what a tech was telling me a few years ago. He was saying it's not worth going for the most expensive dishwashers these days. The extra features they have vs a middle range one are not actually that useful for most users. If a mid range dishwasher breaks, you would lose 6-700$ vs over 1000$ for a high end one.
Hard to say. Appliances seem like a crapshoot at this point. I had great luck with my Bosch 300 and I just had a friend purchase one and he is happy with it.
I didn't catch how long you've had this dishwasher before these problems started. The sealing problem and rinse aid problem sounds like defects with your unit that should be addressed by the manufacturer if the warranty still exists. I just got my 3rd Bosch and this one is the 800 (installed today). Hoping I don't have these issues but if I do I'll ask Bosch to find a solution. Thanks for the heads up!
It was just after the one year warranty expired that I started having issues. The rinse aid issue showed up maybe 4 years in. The install issue with the brackets has been ongoing since install.
Installed my Bosch 800 series dishwasher 4 months ago. I'm getting E21-30 code. Apparently a common problem with this very expensive dishwasher. Been all over the web, Tried everything, can't get it to run. Maybe it's time for a class action suit!
I just bought the new 800 series a few days ago and it doesn’t dry.I’m trying to get my money back. I’ve had two Bosch dishwashers and have loved them. The last was an 800series. After this 3 day old one goes, I’m not going back to Bosch. Such a disappointment:(
I was hunting for this exact same unit 2 years ago to replace a samsung unit. It was sold out everywhere i looked. The bosch brand name has such a good hype behind it for being reliable in the world of dishwashers. Never did find one. Ended up with a maytag. Its still washing dishes.
I have installed hundreds of 800 series and have only had one issue with this series. I always level side to side front to back . Make sure screws are properly secured . I use new water lines and compression hammer. Watch now l will start having problems.. Hopfully not... Good luck... l guess l have been lucky
That's good to hear. I wonder if there was just a bad batch. Mine worked great for about a year but has been a lot of trouble ever since and given the comments on this video and my other video about the watertap error, I'm not the only one.
I bought one the most expensive Bosch dishwashers. A repair was made by an authorized company that cost $550 but Bosch wouldn’t pay it and Lowe’s wouldn’t help me with it either. The machine was still in warranty.
Ours is 4 years old and have had the door seal issue, crystal dry had to be replaced, the plastic water track on the bottom deteriorated, about a 2 inch hole developed. Best Buy is replacing as a lemon under the extended warranty. Still shows up as one of the highest rated models as I look for the replacement. Have they gotten better in 4 years?
Dang. Sorry to hear. Yeah, mine is approaching 5 years old. I just posted a video overview of a brand new one to compare. Honestly, kinda looks identical but the door did seem to click tighter, so maybe they fixed it? ruclips.net/video/q_2bkx3UaCQ/видео.html
Just in the process of ordering a new dishwasher. I am looking at the bosch 800 or the kitchen aid KDTM704KPS . We have only had kitchenaid up till now but after our last one only went 4 years without problems we were leaning towards Bosch. Now I don't know what to do..
Not satisfied with the Bosch. The door leaks onto the floor. I’ve tried cleaning the seal. A repairman could not fix it either. The dishes do not come out completely dry. It’s quiet though.
I have this machine, even though it's a new model purchased in 2024 (they redesigned the 800 series in 2023). I believe issues 2 and 3 are related to the middle rack not being EXACTLY aligned on each side for height as opposed to a poor door seal (this is an easy mistake since each side of that rack can be independently adjusted up or down). One thing I noticed in your video, when you pull out your middle rack at around 3:55, you have to basically slam it to get it pushed all the way back and make that connection. That connection in the rear allows the water to flow to the middle spray arm This potentially tells me you don't have the height adjusted on that middle rack exactly even. Hard to tell from the video, but I think the right side is ever so slightly lower than the left. When properly aligned for height on each side, that middle rack will slide all the way back and make that connection as smooth as butter. Period. No slamming or jiggling is needed. So when I notice any issue sliding that middle rack on my machine all the way back, I readjust the height and try sliding it back again. Keep in mind, you CAN get it pushed all the way back by slamming it or jiggling it as you did, BUT if it pops off that rear connection (in mid-cycle) it could push the rack out, which in turn will put outward pressure on the door, potentially causing issues. Unsure if this was already mentioned in the comments. Thoughts?
Great thoughts. In my case the middle rack has never slid in smooth as butter. I can have it on any height setting, and I don't think I've ever had it uneven on either side, but it still clonks like that going in. Kinda weird. But I think you're correct that that rack could be creating the problem. It's always bothered me that it doesn't want to slide smoothly back. Maybe I should check and see if there's some gunk back there on the connection.
My 300 series was awesome. Then I "upgraded" to the 800 and it's given me continual problems and given the comments on this and my other videos about it, seems to be an issue.
We had an OLD SHU995 wassher for 22 years... Loved it! . Replaced it with a 300 Series, It was ok , BUT The noise levels we far from our old SHU995 , so we rapiddly got the 300 Series replaced , with a 500 Series... It as quiet as our OLD one ... So basiccly , Be Aware of the NOISE LEVES diffrences between the 300 and the 500 series So far it has been very well behaved... but it still brand new So were verry happy
Biggest issue causing the door not to close is the top/middle rack not seating all the way back on the water connection. Jiggle the top rack and get it to seat correctly. Then the door will seal all the way.
Possibility: Perhaps if the two mounting brackets are ‘slightly’ not equal, side by side, (one more forward than the other-from just a screw tightness differential) that could affect the door seal issue.
I was just looking for a new dishwasher. I liked the features on the 800 but the price is ridiculous after tax and an extended warranty it’s just way too much for the appliance. I owned a Bosch about 10 years ago I loved it. Until I started having issues my husband is handy at repair just not that dishwasher. I think we replaced the pump once. Something happened to the control board then. Still ran but only one wash cycle. What is a reliable dishwasher that isn’t going to run me $1500 ? If anyone has suggestions I would appreciate it.
This video had me worried a bit coz I just ordered an 800 series. Most modern units seem to have this design where the latch is no longer there. My samsung dishwasher door from the 2010s is like this (no latch), but we are replacing because the rubber seal and rings are falling apart.
I'm not sure really. I had a 300 years ago and it was great and gave me no problem. My guess is that Bosch had a batch of the 800's that had some serious issues. Not sure on the 500 unfortunately.
I have same problem with the Side Seal Strips, my Bosch dishwasher were installed by Bosch, it is OK for first two years, but lately I notice the door seems stuck and after thorough checking myself, the side seal strips were Deformed. No leak so far but I'll have to get parts and replacing them asap.
@@poodledad I guess my link got deleted, but the 800 series should include the Crystal Dry as part of the 800 model. Maybe your model is an older 800 series?
@@poodledad Not sure if Crystal dry was around then. All I know from what I read that the 800 Model that uses Crystal Dry feature on the 800 series will definitely help drying plastic quicker. Also using Jet Dry help. I am still debating to upgrade my 20+ year to the new 800 model.
We also have had three Bosch dishwashers. I'm glad we saved the old utensil basket from our last one because the new 800 one is worthless. The 800's drawers seem more solid than the 500 we had and easier to move in and out. I'm not impressed with the "crystal dry" technology...frankly, I can't see that it's much of an improvement, so not worth the extra cost. We don't use the aps--the door selections are all you need. Also, if you, like me, believe powdered detergent is cheaper and just as effective, you will need to watch out that you keep it inside the container, and not on the "runners" for the little door that slides closed, otherwise the door will not close. My husband had to take the thing apart to get it to work again. It appears to be designed exclusively for pods.
I bought mine Bosch 800 in October. For some reason, the lower spray arm, while working just fine, is noisy when I rotate it. I thought those dishwashers are to be very quiet. Is it normal for the lower spay arm to be loud when rotated by hand? The top spray arm is silent when spined by hand.
Thank you. Actually, I went by Best Buy and rotated several Bosch and other brands lower spray arms, and they all make similar sound. Bosch perhaps even less than other brands. I am surprised that that there is no smooth gliding on those arms. There must be a reason for that, I suppose.
@@ewadavis2303 When the dishwasher is running the spray arms are lifted by the water pressure in the system. When it's not running the spray arms or sitting on the plastic guide bushings. The noise comes from the contact of the spray arm with the guide bushing.
My 8 year old KitchenAid dishwasher just literally destroyed my brand new kitchen and hardwood floors. Currently living in an Airbnb while everything is fixed which will be a couple of months! Replacing some cabinets which are on backorder, hardwood in a big area in the kitchen and then we have to sand and restain the entire first floor. QUESTION: I was going to get the Bosch 800. If my budget is up to 1300, which dishwasher would you recommend? I will never go back to KitchenAid after this mess.
Sorry to hear that. Honestly I'm not sure. Bosch was supposed to be the reliable brand but I (and many others if you check the comments on this and my other Bosch video) have had issues with the 800. Appliances are a bit of a crapshoot.
WHOA! I'm looking for a new dishwasher... sitting here at our AIRBNB that we have been living in for a month. Our kitchenaid dishwasher (KDPE334GPSO), 2.5 years old, failed and was leaking from the motor diverter, (unbeknownst to us). The water went back, not out to the floor where we'd see it. It soaked up into the drywall and traveled under the hardwood flooring to the next two adjacent rooms. We finally noticed a problem when dark spots started appearing on the living room wood floor. Nightmare! Thank goodness for insurance but it's been a massive mess. We're definitely getting a dishwasher with leak detection. Our insurance company is going after kitchenaid to recover money for the damages. The guy who picked up the dishwasher, for analysis to submit to court, said he sees stuff like this all the time.... it's his FULL TIME JOB to write up appliance reports for court! Yikes. Why wouldn't leak detection come as a basic feature? SMH. I LOVED this dishwasher besides that, lol. :(......
oh my goodness - the same story! Exactly!!! We had a lawyer contact us but they already hauled off our old dishwasher! My husband didn't know they needed it. Sounds like the same exact thing! That is crazy! Ours was the KitchenAid KDTE304DSS. I understand the massive mess! We finally talked our insurance company into replacing the cabinets which are now in. Floors start on Tuesday. Then granite, new dishwasher and disposal installation, faucet and then HOPEFULLY home by November 11th. It's really screwing up my Christmas decorating plans! Sorry you are going through this too - it stinks!!
I don't like my Bosch either. I hate the racks because you can't add cookie sheets and have trouble fitting some pans. My question to you all; I have dishwashing soap residue on all the dishes. It's as if the final rinse isn't working so I'm rinsing everything by hand after the cycles are complete. Any suggestions? I did wash the filters recently. Oh, and is it bad if water stands in the drain well? Thank you all!
I replaced a Maytag with a 300, and I miss the Maytag. I only got 9 years out of it, but the choppers and heating element are features that get overlooked. I also miss the quietness, and status indicator with a countdown. The only thing that I like about my 300 is that it’s a SMART dishwasher that does the dishes every day at midnight. The door also on the 300 feels very cheap, and the spring load mechanism is overdone.
all of these "problems" sound like installation errors... I'd check the level and feet adjustment on the machine, Also, if these were actual issues, Bosch has a great warranty, and as many of us realized long ago...Purchase the extended warranty!
It's possible the door sealing issue which leads to cycles stopping and the watertap error is from install error. Not sure that explains the rinse aid all over the place though.
@@poodledad I examined that machine in Home Depot yesterday, and there’s a seal on the jet dry receptacle that I think could potentially become worn over time… I know several people who have owned Bosch machines through different models. They defend them vehemently. Plus the fact that 74% of service technicians recommend Bosch, while less than 1% recommend lg…
Which specific issue are you having? Yeah I don't blame you for giving up. Someone mentioned replacing the seals and I wonder if that's a longterm solution.
Have my 800 series dishwasher about two years. Haven’t had and issues as reported. Happy with the purchase and would recommend it to a friend. I suspect all negative reports are likely operator error issues.
Glad yours is working. What do you think the user error is that causes the water to leak out of the door seal and cause e15 error? Or for the rinse aid to spew all over the dishes?
I also have the 800 and have been very disappointed. A few things you didn't mention: 1. the top (third) rack is useless because there is no additional cleaning arm between the shelves. The second rack cannot get clean when the tiny tiny top mounted cleaning spinner has the third rack in its way. 2. The second rack has a tendency to not seal in the back. I believe this is why they made it as deep as they did, and why there's pressure on the door. They need that door to push the second rack into the seal for the below-mounted arm. 3. The E:07 error code. We've had this randomly stop cycles, until one day no cycle would complete. Still working this one out. And yes, that rinse aid issue is awful. We've found that filling it only a little bit helps, no more than halfway. We bought this one because of the rating in CR after countless issues with LG. Never again.
Glad your third rack actually works. "fixed" the dishwasher by vacuuming out the air cycling channel to the crystal dry fan. That worked for a week, now it's broken again. Not sure if I'll try that again, replace the fan, or to to sell it for scrap and get another brand. E:07 error code is not easy to find good info on!
Definitely not recommended. Washes very well, but lots of annoying "little" problems: for instance, the plastic trim parts on the handle disintegrated - both left and right side. Some of the adjustable parts in the racks are not engineered well, so they just flop around. The rinse aid container is difficult to fill without significant spillage, and it doesn't hold very much. I wish we had bought something else. The cache of the Bosch brand just isn't deserved.
I'm looking to buy a Bosch right now. After looking at various amounts of reviews on several different dishwashers, Bosch seems to fit my needs. I could live with these four problems especially the rinse aid problem as I am not accustom to using rinse aid. As for the seal, anything is better than what I have been dealing with over the last year trying to save for a new dishwasher as my 15+ year old Whirlpool really doesn't want to stay running anymore. Thank you for the tips.
The problem with your solution to the rinse aid issue is that Bosch relies on rinse aid to help dry the dishes since there is no heating element. Are your dishes dry after the cycle is complete?
@@jericlackett2547 So I did end up buying a Bosch just before Thanksgiving. I tried the free sample of Finish rinse aid, no rinse aid, Cascade rinse aid and vinegar instead of rinse aid. I have changed my mind on rinse aid and prefer the Cascade as it is cheaper than Finish and does the same job. Some plastics (mostly those with a lip) do come out wet, but everything is dryer with rinse aid.
I was pretty set on this unit. Unfortunately nowadays it seems no matter what you go with it's gonna have set backs. It's really unfortunate what the appliance market is like now. We bought our 2012 built house in 2018. Like clockwork every appliance went bad right at 10 years. Meanwhile my parents have the same appliances from the 90s
Dang, yeah that seems to be about how it goes. My house has 30 year old appliances when we bought it and they were still going strong. Granted they used a ton of energy so I suppose thats the tradeoff. Brands seem like a crapshoot at this point.
I followed your instructions and guess what.... My Bosch is different than yours. I was wondering why the door was not coming off. My Bosch has catch points up where it attached to the main panel. I don't know how to get around them. Any suggestions would be helpful.
@@poodledad called a few places. I found that Costco sells Bosch - I may buy it ( 800 series ) - a friend / plumber says he can pull out / install . they have a sale till 9/6 . JDS/CT. - hope it works - replacing a 15 year old Bosch
I am really surprised to hear these issues, no dishwasher is perfect but according to my appliance guy the Bosch is usually the one he never fixes. Rgs to door i wonder if your washer is perfectly level? If it leans out too much it can cause problems. The rinse aid issues is likely faulty plastic cover, get that replaced and should be ok
Yeah I would have guessed I just got a lemon, but my first video on Bosch issues has over 150k views and hundreds of comments with other owners having issues. I had a bosch 300 for years with 0 problems, but this 800 has been nothing but trouble.
@@poodledad I have mine with zero issues, it's best dishwasher I ever had. The drying is superb and no more water in plastic containers. I did some digging and according to repair data Bosch is second most reliable dishwasher brand out there. I honestly think you might have gotten lemon.
The problem I am having is trying to shut the door to the dishwasher, I have to spray liquid wrench on the closing latch or it won't shut, I do have very hard water but consider this a pain in the butt.

Focus on them working well and not breaking before fancy features we don't REALLY need... please!!
Yep, they are a crapshoot. Not sure what I'd actually recommend at this point.
Bosch (different models) take the top spots on Consumer Reports. I wouldn't have anything else, but I guess there is a learning curve.
Oh yes I have come to hate the word "smart"
Be careful when deciding to connect your dishwasher to Wi-Fi. I tried doing that today. Then I read the privacy notice on the app I had downloaded. I realized how much information I would have to give up *voluntarily* by agreeing to their terms. I decided to leave my dishwasher dumb.
@@californiahiker9616 yeah that's no good! Mine doesn't have a wi-fi option.
Ha. Sorry you are having trouble. Good job keeping those seals clean!
Dang, what's the game plan? Will they replace it? Or can you return it to where you bought it?
I had a similar experience. After waiting weeks for Bosch to send their "authorized" Bosch repairman, I only received excuse after excuse that it was my problem, an install error, etc. When I called up an independent repairman I use for rentals, he pointed out the defective gasket in the Bosch supplied hose. There's a reason the Google and Yelp reviews for BSH Home Appliances (who directs Bosch's servicing) are dismal.
We bought a Whirlpool dishwasher 🤞

Ha that's awesome. Glad its working well for you! I think improper mounting can cause a number of these issues.
Correct! Mine cracked!
I don't think it's excellent at all. I hate mine.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome. Glad to hear yours is working well!
Dang, if you have more problems be sure to reach out to Bosch before that 1 year warranty is up.
Our Bosch is about 16 years old and the only thing I’ve had to repair has been the door gasket. After 13 years, gasket had turned to mush at the bottom corners and started to leak a little. Easy fix and the unit is going strong.
That's awesome. I've wondered about replacing the seals to see if that would prevent it from stopping mid-cycle.
We just bought the Bosch 800 dishwasher. I noticed that without the rinse aid it doesn’t dry the dishes very well even using the crystal dry mode. Not loving it as much as I had hoped.
Oh no! That’s no good. I sometimes use white vinegar in place of rinse aid. Seems to work well.
Thanks.
I’ll try that. I don’t love having to add chemicals if I don’t have to.
Awesome. 17 years is good. Hope your Bosch works well
Glad to see someone has had success; have had mine for over six months, tried EVERYTHING, just unloaded, a typical load...RESULT: 5 Bowls, 1 Spoon, 1 Cup, and 2 Plates have to be rewashed, i.e. HANDWASHED...that's about average! I'd show a picture/video if I knew how. I know it looks good, but bottom line...at least the 500 series...SUCKS.
Dang such a bummer.
Yeah I'm in the same boat. This will be my last Bosch.
If you had the Lowes Protection Plan they would have reimbursed you the cost of the dishwasher (100%)..

Great tips. Thanks!
This dishwasher sits on 3 feet, so irregularities in the floor have no effect. In particular, an uneven floor cannot twist the chassis.
Thanks for the honest review. I will keep shopping!
You are so welcome!
The drain pump stopped working right as warranty expired. It's a good dishwasher when it's working. Glad it was a $30 part and took me an hour to fix.

Yeah, I haven't had good luck with this Bosch 800 series, though my 300 before was excellent.
Thanks for the video. Reading other viewers' comments gave me lots of reasons NOT to buy this now. Our 30 year old FW finally died and I know we will be unhappy with a new one.
30 years?! that's a great run for a DW.
We just got the E 15 error. Pulled it out and ran a cycle and it is leaking from the heater gasket. We also have a problem with the clips and the rinse aid issue.
Bummer. Sounds a lot like what mine is doing.
For the rinse aid, I just switched to using white vinegar in the dispenser and now it doesn't seem to have a problem.

@@mogwaii2912 yikes! Sorry to hear.
Not one.
Dang. I didn't know of the pump issue. Thanks for sharing!
Agree, boo on Bosch. What would you recommend for a 24" front panel ready QUIET dishwasher instead? I need one right now for a renovation. Thank you! Blessings.
Hard to know. I feel like appliance brands are a crapshoot.
Look into getting a Miele
Our leak was from the diverter valve, I had to run a load with it pulled out so I could see where the leak was coming from. Have the DV on order, according to RUclips videos it doesn't seem that hard to replace. Other than that we love the 6 year old machine.
Oh dang. Hoping you can get it taken care of.
Useful review and comments Was going to go Bosch but think will stay with KA. Agree, none of the machines built that well anymore. Subscribed-because you respond to comments.
You better believe I do 😀
We had a 6 y0 Bosch 500 series.
And while it comes with a flatware rack that is too small for a big mean, we have converted to using the upper flatware rack which individually racks each spoon, fork, and knife.
sounds like a great unit! hope it does well.
Mind sharing who installed it? I’m in the bay area too looking at this dishwasher!
I believe that you are correct. The metal install brackets being too malleable I believe is also a culprit. Great thoughts!
I have had the same issue with the brackets and have reinstalled everything a half-dozen times, including double-checking that it is level, etc. I have concluded that the brackets are simply designed poorly.
Agreed. They have given me so much trouble.
You should check the latch on the dishwasher and make sure it clicks up and down and is in the right position. Sometimes it sticks down in the lock and then won't allow the door to fully latch. Then the sensor switch on wont engage
NEVER had any of these problems. Ours does an exceptionally job, it is quiet and easy to load with a adjustable rack.
Awesome. What year is it?
But at least it’s really expensive! 😂
Our cheap Kenmore causes condensation all over our granite too it drives me nuts
Another big problem with the Bosch dishwasher is that suds remain at the end of washing. We have to rinse the dishes before use.
I’ve had that. May be not enough food particles on dishes so soap isn’t grabbing onto that. I usually only fill bottom portion of the soap dispenser.
are you using Finish tablets? Also, don't rinse your dishes but just scrape all the food/stuff off. Might help.
Try replacing the rinse aid door. They are prone to leaking.
Could be it. Thanks!
Contact the BBB. Many folks say they don’t help, but I’ve had nothing but solid help using them. Best Buy, AT&T wireless, etc. Give it a shot, it is cheaper than scraping the thing.
That seems like the best option at this point.
I was actually considering Bosch as a future replacement. My sister swears by hers, but I’ll stick with whirlpool. The whirlpool still uses a heating element on the bottom, which I actually like to dry the dishes.
Yeah this one doesn't dry very well.
@@poodledad That's because you stopped using the rinse aid. It's a vicious cycle.
Wow not sure, maybe see if there are some videos explaining that.
You have to utilize Jet Dry I had Bosch at my house 2 weeks later with the same complaint! and here's what the Tech said:
Jet Dry must be used - Plastic will also not dry like dishes.
Thank you so much-- I was going to buy one. Can you recommend another one?
Hard to know, they all seem like a crapshoot at this point.
Now you've got me worried Ours was delivered yesterday and is to be installed tomorrow.
Hopefully they've ironed out the issues.
My 800 worked perfect for years without issues BUT now R15 showed up -- i will try and fix today.
Yikes, well hopefully not a big issue and just related to the door seal like mine. Let us know if you get it fixed.
Yes it's a tough choice because all appliances seem to be a crapshoot. Hard to know what to recommend.
Hard to know. They all seem like a crapshoot at this point.
I think it's random. In the time I have had my Whirlpool Gold, my aunt has had 3 dishwashers, including a Bosch. Her experience is the brand doesn't matter as they all last 3-4 years regardless. Buy an extended warranty and you should be covered. Best of luck.
what did you end up getting? i am now in the same situation!
Your poodle really adores you 😊 they are really smart dogs, maybe she can help with the dishwasher problema 😅
Definitely a smart dog. We are hooked on the standard poodle and wouldn't buy another breed.
Yes, that's one of the issues I've been having. I posted another video on that one: ruclips.net/video/869vgFlLAnU/видео.html
Yes, mine is always wet and I've seen many complaints about it not drying well.
I remember what a tech was telling me a few years ago. He was saying it's not worth going for the most expensive dishwashers these days. The extra features they have vs a middle range one are not actually that useful for most users. If a mid range dishwasher breaks, you would lose 6-700$ vs over 1000$ for a high end one.
this is probably good advice! The more bells and whistles is just more stuff to break.
So, what model do you recommend if not Bosh or not this model?
I have one and the rinse aid issue is real. We stopped putting any in.
Installed my Bosch 800 series dishwasher 4 months ago. I'm getting E21-30 code. Apparently a common problem with this very expensive dishwasher. Been all over the web, Tried everything, can't get it to run. Maybe it's time for a class action suit!
Seriously. What is that error supposed to mean?
Looking into getting a Bosch 800 or benchmark dishwasher. Do the dishes dry or stay wet? I’m replacing a Kenmore that lasted 26 years.
It definitely doesn't dry well. Glassware will get pretty dry, any plastics will still be very wet, even after the 2 hour 09 minute cycle.
When I use the normal load and crystal dry mine dries very well! If you do the quick 60 it does not dry.
I just bought the new 800 series a few days ago and it doesn’t dry.I’m trying to get my money back. I’ve had two Bosch dishwashers and have loved them. The last was an 800series. After this 3 day old one goes, I’m not going back to Bosch. Such a disappointment:(
Crystal Dry dries ours perfectly.
I was hunting for this exact same unit 2 years ago to replace a samsung unit. It was sold out everywhere i looked. The bosch brand name has such a good hype behind it for being reliable in the world of dishwashers.
Never did find one. Ended up with a maytag. Its still washing dishes.
That's all you need!
Dang that doesn't sound right. Yeah they wouldn't help me with my issues either but I was just slightly out of warranty.
Now I don't know what to do..
yeah it's a bit of a crapshoot
I've had ZERO problems with my Bosch 800 series and I've had it for several years. Love it!
Awesome!
Not satisfied with the Bosch. The door leaks onto the floor. I’ve tried cleaning the seal. A repairman could not fix it either. The dishes do not come out completely dry. It’s quiet though.
Dang, not sure why it would be leaking onto the floor. Mine was leaking into a little catch pan that tripped the watertap error.
Our bosch dishwasher stop working after 23years. Looking forward to buy a 300 serie. Would you have any recommandation?
My 300 series was awesome. Then I "upgraded" to the 800 and it's given me continual problems and given the comments on this and my other videos about it, seems to be an issue.
We had an OLD SHU995 wassher for 22 years... Loved it! .
Replaced it with a 300 Series, It was ok , BUT The noise levels we far from our old SHU995 , so we rapiddly got the 300 Series replaced , with a 500 Series...
It as quiet as our OLD one ...
So basiccly , Be Aware of the NOISE LEVES diffrences between the 300 and the 500 series
So far it has been very well behaved... but it still brand new
So were verry happy
Biggest issue causing the door not to close is the top/middle rack not seating all the way back on the water connection. Jiggle the top rack and get it to seat correctly. Then the door will seal all the way.
I agree, that middle rack just doesn't want to sit properly. Im guessing it's because of the various ways it can be adjusted.
Possibility: Perhaps if the two mounting brackets are ‘slightly’ not equal, side by side, (one more forward than the other-from just a screw tightness differential) that could affect the door seal issue.
That could be it.
My mounting brackets both broke and had to be replaced.
Thanks so much for this honest review! Also can you tell me the paint color on your kitchen walls? Its gorgeous, looks like a very pale green. :)
It’s “sea salt” and I believe from sherwin Williams
Thanks for the reviews
No problem 👍
I was just looking for a new dishwasher. I liked the features on the 800 but the price is ridiculous after tax and an extended warranty it’s just way too much for the appliance. I owned a Bosch about 10 years ago I loved it. Until I started having issues my husband is handy at repair just not that dishwasher. I think we replaced the pump once. Something happened to the control board then. Still ran but only one wash cycle. What is a reliable dishwasher that isn’t going to run me $1500 ? If anyone has suggestions I would appreciate it.
At this point they all seem like a crapshoot. I'm not sure what I would recommend.
This video had me worried a bit coz I just ordered an 800 series. Most modern units seem to have this design where the latch is no longer there. My samsung dishwasher door from the 2010s is like this (no latch), but we are replacing because the rubber seal and rings are falling apart.
Hope you have good luck with yours!
Hi Jason. I have a Bosch 500. Do you feel the same about the 500?
I'm not sure really. I had a 300 years ago and it was great and gave me no problem. My guess is that Bosch had a batch of the 800's that had some serious issues. Not sure on the 500 unfortunately.
I have same problem with the Side Seal Strips, my Bosch dishwasher were installed by Bosch, it is OK for first two years, but lately I notice the door seems stuck and after thorough checking myself, the side seal strips were Deformed. No leak so far but I'll have to get parts and replacing them asap.
Good call. I'll have to look into replacing those as well, maybe it would fix some of the issues I'm having.
- You wouldn’t buy it again until you read reviews for a week and realize all the other dishwashers suck too. 😞
Exactly. It’s a crapshoot.
Doesn't the Crystal Dry on the 800 series improve drying? I heard people saying it does improve drying over the 500 Series.
i have not tried that. Is that in place of rinse aid?

Interesting. I've mostly used Cascade gel which seems to clean well.
Unfortunately I have not heard of that one. I'm not hearing any noise from mine.

Dang, yeah not sure. maybe using too much detergent? It doesn't take a lot.
Yeah the doors seem to be the biggest problem. How long have you had the 300?

It's possible the door sealing issue which leads to cycles stopping and the watertap error is from install error. Not sure that explains the rinse aid all over the place though.

Plus the fact that 74% of service technicians recommend Bosch, while less than 1% recommend lg…
Yes, ours was professionally installed and I’ve had zero issues.
I have as similar problem now. I am ready to get rid of my Bosch dishwasher. I really think that the quality control at Bosch if very poor.
A few things you didn't mention:
1. the top (third) rack is useless because there is no additional cleaning arm between the shelves.
My 3rd rack seems to clean well. Yes the second rack doesn’t like to seal. A bummer of an expensive machine.
Accurate! The floppy adjustable racks r annoying.
Awesome, hope it works out well. maybe you can get a black friday deal this November.
Mine won’t start washing and it always change from active to sanitized light with beeping sounds. What do I do?
Yikes, haven't heard of that one. Not sure what would cause that!
It didn’t beep because the door isn’t fully closed, it beeped because you had a cycle selected and didn’t press the START button.
It beeps if you hit the start button and the door isnt closed.
I followed your instructions and guess what.... My Bosch is different than yours. I was wondering why the door was not coming off. My Bosch has catch points up where it attached to the main panel. I don't know how to get around them. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Hmm not sure without looking at it. Have you had any luck?
Thank you
Glad it was helpful
Just add vinagar as rinse aid. Even if it's spit, the dish will be clean.
I've actually done that quite a bit and it seems to work just as well and doesn't cause the staining issue.
I am in the market. good to know - gracias
Awesome, glad it helped. Let me know what you decide to buy.
The problem I am having is trying to shut the door to the dishwasher, I have to spray liquid wrench on the closing latch or it won't shut, I do have very hard water but consider this a pain in the butt.
wow I haven't heard that one. Yeah maybe that is gunked up.
About to purchase a dishwasher. What product is this one? I'm looking at the shxm78255n
It's #SHPM78W55N
