Came here from the GE Combo video. This is another great video! One can tell that you've thoroughly informed yourself. And even the installation, while more involved than on the Bosch dishwashers over here, is done perfectly. As you've probably figured out by now, you don't need to empty the rack to adjust the height. I guess it's easier to refill the rinse aid if you your unscrew the bottle's cap. Now all you'll need to do is grab a GoPro and be the first to film that new bottom spray arm in action. 😉 Greetings from Germany.

A trick with the Jet Dry bottle. Put your finger over the opening, turn the bottle down over the jet dry compartment, then remove your finger. Place your finger over the opening when you want to turn it upright. No spill.

J.C....this video was SUPERB! Thank you so much for producing it. Our 10-year old Bosch 500 is dying a slow death...the drain pump sounds like an air raid siren from London in WW II. It's working perfectly...however it's quite noisy while draining. We decided to upgrade to the Bosch 800 which we ordered from the big store chain based in Kirkland, WA. I watched your second video on the Bosch 800 showing the interior washing process. That too was SUPERB...and sorry about the loss of your GoPro 3 while filming it. Bosch should buy you a new GoPro 12 for all your efforts!! Again...many thanks. You do great work!
I bought a Bosch 800 dishwasher 4 years ago. Worked great untill 3 weeks ago. It started throwing E07 codes,the zeolite fan code. I called Bosch with the problem. They said the fan needed to be replaced. It took 2 weeks to get the service guy to come out and when he got here he didn’t bring any parts with him. Looked at it and found the zeolite container was bad and had melted a piece of plastic that runs down the center of the washer. Part of the parts were covered under some recall but the repair is still costing me over $500! A high end washer that costs $1200 shouldn’t have service issues after only 4 years! If you’re considering a Bosch think twice about it. I live alone and only use it once every 2 days,it’s not like I’m using it to death.
We also bought a Bosch 800 series dishwasher about 3 1/2 years ago. It worked well until 3 weeks ago when it showed a E07 code. A repairman came and gave us an estimate of $700 for parts and labor. We have always thought Bosch dishwashers were fantastic until this experience . We just ordered a Miele dishwasher with a FREE five year warranty. I don’t think we’ll buy a Bosch dishwasher again.
@@janmcclelland8935 You can graph how easily you can get service for an appliance, with domestic brands like Whirlpool or Frigidaire on one end, then Samsung/Lg maybe in the middle, and then Miele all the way at the other end. When buying a less common brand, it would be wise to do a search online and find out how many companies can service it in your town. As for Bosch, they have factory service in some cities, and then leave it up to contractors in other cities. In my experience, there are a lot of servicers out there that will work on Bosch.
A thorough but extremely generous review. My previous Bosch was an SHX57C05UC/31, an entirely superior machine although on paper they should be equivalent. Where to start? Three points jump out immediately. First, the lack of sound insulation. There is almost no insulation on the back of the machine, almost no insulation around the front, under the door, and significant absences at various spots around the machine. As anyone who has soundproofed a room will know, any breaches in sound insulation ruin the overall effect - the new Bosch proves the rule. Clunks and clicks in particular 'make it through' and on a light load the machine is noticeably noisier than the old SHX57. Second, the middle rack interferes with the front door. To be clear, the machine that arrived was different in this one respect from the machine reviewed here. In place of the blue plastic draw handle on the racks, I had a grey plastic handle with a metal label with 'BOSCH' embossed on it. Unfortunately the rack, even when fully seated, makes contact with the front door. In addition, what looked like a black electrolysis burn was apparent where the rack touches the front door. The mark is permanent on both pieces of metal. The contact point also inhibits the ability of the front door to close properly. I suspect my Bosch racks are a cheaper substitution, implemented quite recently. Third, the cutlery holder is smaller than the one on the SHX57. Fortunately I retained the old, larger, holder from SHX57, but otherwise I would've had to buy a second holder for this model. Which is extremely annoying given the cost of this machine. It isn't cheap. A comparable LG with DC inverter motor is more than $300 cheaper! So why would I want a bigger holder you ask? Well, the truth is that aside from ladles and mixing spoons, I can't be bothered to lay out silverware on the top rack. Actually I think the top rack is one of the most useless features on this or any dishwasher. It detracts from the height clearances and this is a nuisance that far outweighs the value of the rack itself. I should say that earlier Bosch dishwashers were easier to install. As an example (one of many) the earlier machine had a right-angled water inlet valve, so no additional part required. Seriously, why would you even design or ship or a dishwasher without this most obvious and basic feature? The other point of concern is the two mounting brackets at the top of the machine. To call these flimsy would be an understatement. In addition they have too much play which results in a small amount of movement. The older SHX has a more substantial bracket and no play whatsoever. This is Bosch 'going cheap'. Overall, the SHX57, purchased back in 2005 I believe, is the superior product. It is very noticeably quieter, it does a better job of cleaning pots and pans, it does not require a 'finisher' product because the plates come out completely clean every time, despite not pre-rinsing plates and cutlery that have sat overnight. I should admit here that we have a whole-house water softener which is a big plus where dishwashers, in general, are concerned. In use. I found the front door seal is stiffer than the seal on the SHX57 and simply does not seal as well. My SHX57 has worked every day from July of 2005 through to October of 2024. Never leaked. The new one? I can definitely see water seepage past the front door seal. The new dishwasher really offers nothing over the older SHX57. Indeed, it's technology is out-dated in the motor department (compared to machines such as the LG Quadwash Pro) and so-called improvements just... aren't. Overall I've owned six Bosch dishwashers over our three houses. However, this will be my last Bosch. It simply isn't worth the money. It isn't quiet, the machinery is fundamentally out-dated, and this is basically a pig with lipstick. I cannot recommend this dishwasher to my friends.
Great review/overview. I just picked up this exact model on Black-Friday sale with an additional $100 rebate. Total cost was $1050. My only add to your install steps would be to run an initial short cycle before sliding it back into the cabinet, just in case something leaks and to verify operation. My old dishwasher was hard wired, so I took the opportunity to add a receptacle to the wall behind to make later swaps or service much easier. Getting the old one out was a royal pain. I plan to spray paint the toe-kick to match the baseboards (white in my case).

@@Painfulwhale360 , we love it! Quiet, Cleans perfectly. A few adjustable features to it that make getting everything in easier. We have noticed that it is best to leave the washer closed up, like over night, to complete drying, otherwise, there are some plastics that are still wet (like inside the edge of a lid).
Just bought a 300 and installed it and has a wired burning unique chemical smell have run empty multiple times and still have this odour like tar or plastic smell ..? Anyone else have this issue or notice this upon installing a new Bosch Dishwasher?

Is using the app the only way one will have access to all the settings options or are these also available on the panel e.g. deeper in the menu somewhere? Is there an option not to use the wifi option altogether? I may decide not to. I originally used ot for my washing machine but the constant alerts were too much and I turned it off. Do you happen to know if the auto door opening option can be either turned off or adjusted to open at a later time if the hot steam has a negative effect on painted cabinetry to either side of the dishwasher? I know there's a protective seal at the top but one review implied she got damage on the cabinetry or paint on both sides of her 800 series dishwasher from that hot steam. Have you found that your machine jiggles around and doesn't feel super stable and firm in place? That was another negative review (amidst mostly positive reviews). Can u tell me what to do if I need to add a few things after I have already started my 800 series (no handle) DW? Do I just open it mid wash and hit pause? Also I don’t get a red light on the floor when it is running. Only have a small. White light on the front😮. Question about hose hookup. Everything I’ve read from Bosch says it hooks up to cold water and the machine heats it up. Mine was installed hooked up to cold water intake valve but I think you mentioned the hot water hookup. Can you please provide any feedback on that? Great video thank you!
Nice video👌..As a 5years Bosch user Im really satisfied with my serie8 super silence plus dishwasher but there is something alittle frustrating about the ceiling shower..I think that Bosch should revise It..I believe that an arm can be more powerful and efficient than that spinning thing..that thing cant cover all the third rack especially the items located at the corners to wash properly..anyway..I have a question..I found that your dishwasher has not a salt reservoir..has it?..I cant see the reservoir cap.
Had a Bosch dishwasher installed 5 years ago and about 2 months ago it started having major issues over and over. Had a Bosch authorized tech come out 4 times and we finally said enough is enough. We just had another 800 series installed 2 days ago and are running it for the first time but while it defaults to "normal" I cannot get it to move to any other options like the one hour cycle. It's currently running but the light is not on showing that it is. Frustrated. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but don't know what.
Just had to replace our Bosch 800 dishwasher after 8.5 years. Disappointed with the quality. Replacing with Miele, wanted higher quality. Time will tell if I'm right. Miele provided a 5 year warranty. Special limited time offer.
I didn't see any 6-month report given in this video - what has been your experience after 6 months? What issues have you encountered and would you recommend this dishwasher after 6 months of use?
Because this was purchased due to a machine failure it was not scheduled and became an unboxing. In time I will have such commentary in a subsequent video.
I have, basically, the same machine. Um, it's not without its problems. The impeller clogs too often, and only someone who is "handy" will actually be able to fix the issue. "Stuff" somehow gets by the filter. You'll get a "clog" code at some point. You better be prepared to fix this yourself, or pay the price to have some repair guy come out and fix what only takes 10 minutes to remedy. Also, the top aerator housing drooped down on my unit, causing the aerator to get stuck (not spin). A few zip ties fixed this issue, but it shouldn't be a problem. Also, the plastic housing on the side gets so hot that it will delaminate or damage the side of your cupboard. You'll only notice this if you have to remove your dishwasher at some point. Anyways, other than these issue, my dishwasher has been decent. Can't say any better than my old Maytag, but decent. It's definitely quieter. :)
Does anyone have any clue what this is called in Germany? I cannot find the series 800 in any stores. Is it the same as serie 8? Apparently it’s not popular here 😢

@@retrotechandelectronics On my 800 series Bosch there's a screw off cap on the bottom of the tub that you put dishwasher salt in to. It keeps your dishwasher from getting clogged up with mineral deposits if you have hard water.
VERY curious about the water softener!!! We just installed our Bosch 800 yesterday. I’ve had a Bosch for 14 years, but moved to a different state with very hard water. We are midway through your great video. I paused as hubby wants to see the filter part. ( as he’s cleaning hard water deposits in the back of kitchen sink- stuff he noticed during install)
@retrotechandelectronics lol my Silence Plus 48dba model has 2 hoses. From what I can gather online, it's called the condensation tube. My dishwasher didn't come with a tray so idk exactly what to do?
I have to buy a new washer and I’ll likely get this one but I zero interest in connecting something as mundane as a dishwasher to my phone. I heard delay start is hidden in the app.
It is hard to see what type of fill line you are using. The most common type in the USA is a stainless steel or white flex line which is the dishwasher version of a garden hose. Since it has a washer in it, no sealant is necessary. It is unlikely that a stiff copper line or equivalent plastic would be very easy for the average homeowner to install, and in fact no 3rd party installer will connect to copper these days, or use any power other than an outlet.
Great video but I think I got ripped off. I just bought the top tier model and got charged almost $1800. I called them and they said the dishwasher i got was better than this one by being quieter, and some features about how it displays on the floor. I'm pretty sure he's lying to me..
@@retrotechandelectronics ok problem solved. I spoke with my appliance professional and he explained that the Bosch Benchmark Series is in fact the top of the line. The 800 series is below that. He explained the differences between the two. The Benchmark is quieter (42db vs 38 db). Benchmark has water softener..Benchmark has has all ball bearing racks, interior LED light and time remaining indicator light that shines on the ground instead of red light.
Thank you for that info. I was lucky enough to buy my Bosch from Costco, so have their added warranty on that. After that will be on my own. But isn't that the case with all appliances....:(

Cold water is the official hookup instruction.
Nice video👌..As a 5years Bosch user Im really satisfied with my serie8 super silence plus dishwasher but there is something alittle frustrating about the ceiling shower..I think that Bosch should revise It..I believe that an arm can be more powerful and efficient than that spinning thing..that thing cant cover all the third rack especially the items located at the corners to wash properly..anyway..I have a question..I found that your dishwasher has not a salt reservoir..has it?..I cant see the reservoir cap.
Had a Bosch dishwasher installed 5 years ago and about 2 months ago it started having major issues over and over. Had a Bosch authorized tech come out 4 times and we finally said enough is enough. We just had another 800 series installed 2 days ago and are running it for the first time but while it defaults to "normal" I cannot get it to move to any other options like the one hour cycle. It's currently running but the light is not on showing that it is. Frustrated. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but don't know what.
Doesn’t sound normal. Have you tried it through the app or ran the factory default on it.

Just had to replace our Bosch 800 dishwasher after 8.5 years. Disappointed with the quality. Replacing with Miele, wanted higher quality. Time will tell if I'm right. Miele provided a 5 year warranty. Special limited time offer.
Our last Bosch lasted about 15 years.

I didn't see any 6-month report given in this video - what has been your experience after 6 months? What issues have you encountered and would you recommend this dishwasher after 6 months of use?
Because this was purchased due to a machine failure it was not scheduled and became an unboxing. In time I will have such commentary in a subsequent video.

I have, basically, the same machine. Um, it's not without its problems. The impeller clogs too often, and only someone who is "handy" will actually be able to fix the issue. "Stuff" somehow gets by the filter. You'll get a "clog" code at some point. You better be prepared to fix this yourself, or pay the price to have some repair guy come out and fix what only takes 10 minutes to remedy. Also, the top aerator housing drooped down on my unit, causing the aerator to get stuck (not spin). A few zip ties fixed this issue, but it shouldn't be a problem. Also, the plastic housing on the side gets so hot that it will delaminate or damage the side of your cupboard. You'll only notice this if you have to remove your dishwasher at some point. Anyways, other than these issue, my dishwasher has been decent. Can't say any better than my old Maytag, but decent. It's definitely quieter. :)
Does anyone have any clue what this is called in Germany? I cannot find the series 800 in any stores. Is it the same as serie 8? Apparently it’s not popular here 😢

@@omidnoroozian The only difference between the model in this video and the SHX78B75UC is the latter has a built-in water softener, which the model in this video does not have.

@@retrotechandelectronics On my 800 series Bosch there's a screw off cap on the bottom of the tub that you put dishwasher salt in to. It keeps your dishwasher from getting clogged up with mineral deposits if you have hard water.

VERY curious about the water softener!!! We just installed our Bosch 800 yesterday. I’ve had a Bosch for 14 years, but moved to a different state with very hard water.

@retrotechandelectronics lol my Silence Plus 48dba model has 2 hoses. From what I can gather online, it's called the condensation tube. My dishwasher didn't come with a tray so idk exactly what to do?

I have to buy a new washer and I’ll likely get this one but I zero interest in connecting something as mundane as a dishwasher to my phone. I heard delay start is hidden in the app.
The app does have some benefit, but not a requirement.

No, It has rinse agent built in for glass.

It is hard to see what type of fill line you are using. The most common type in the USA is a stainless steel or white flex line which is the dishwasher version of a garden hose. Since it has a washer in it, no sealant is necessary. It is unlikely that a stiff copper line or equivalent plastic would be very easy for the average homeowner to install, and in fact no 3rd party installer will connect to copper these days, or use any power other than an outlet.

Great video but I think I got ripped off. I just bought the top tier model and got charged almost $1800. I called them and they said the dishwasher i got was better than this one by being quieter, and some features about how it displays on the floor. I'm pretty sure he's lying to me..
There are some subsets of the 800, you need to look at your model number and compare against the Bosch website.
@@retrotechandelectronics ok problem solved. I spoke with my appliance professional and he explained that the Bosch Benchmark Series is in fact the top of the line. The 800 series is below that. He explained the differences between the two.
The Benchmark is quieter (42db vs 38 db). Benchmark has water softener..Benchmark has has all ball bearing racks, interior LED light and time remaining indicator light that shines on the ground instead of red light.
Bosch does not honor their warranty. I had $550 repair that they would not pay. Don’t get suckered in!!!
Thank you for that info. I was lucky enough to buy my Bosch from Costco, so have their added warranty on that. After that will be on my own. But isn't that the case with all appliances....:(
