How to Install a Dishwasher - Bosch 800 series - 40 db

  • Installing a dishwasher can be a DIY task, especially with the Bosch dishwasher. Its is almost plug and play these days. The one thing that could send you back to the store is the "NOT supplied " dishwasher connection kit.
    We used the Eastman Dishwasher connection kit:
    www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01...
    Be sure and get the kit which includes the supply elbow!
    Then the installation is as easy as connect the supply elbow, the supply hose, and the electrical connection. Then route the hoses and electric wire to the appropriate side of the dishwasher and prepare to move it into place. We were sure to connect the water supply and check for leaks first. With that good, we then pushed the dishwasher into place and made the final connections.
    The Bosch 800 series dishwasher DID supply an electric cord which had plugs installed on either end. That makes it easy if you already have a dedicated outlet for the dishwasher under the cabinet.
    On the Bosch dishwasher, all the connections are easily in reach. They have greatly simplified the connection process.
    Bosch makes Bosch 100 series, Bosch 300 series, Bosch 500 series and Bosch 800 series. They may supply different means of final hook-up. Seems like things keep changing, so it would be good to inquire about EXACTLY how your particular washer electrical connections are to be made. Bosch does supply other means of making the electrical connections so its worth a double check.

    Surely the wrong way to lower the rear foot. There's a screwdriver slot at the front that turns a worm drive engaged with the rear foot. That's why its hard to turn the rear foot even with grips

    Excellent video and was complimentary to the installation instructions in the manual. As may be noted by other viewers, there is a hex socket driver (connected to a worm gear) in the rear to raise and lower the rear foot height. Found this to be easier than pliers. But, even the installation manual doesn't mention this handy feature for leveling from the rear!
    Again, thanks for the great video. Now let's see how this Bosch does now!

    Nice video, but it's missing something that's been frustrating me and some other people f or some time: how to install the toe plate. I've tried several different ways to install it, but the screw slots don't line up with the holes, and there are some lower holes that look like the right ones, but the screws that go in are too narrow, so something's wrong. If I install the way that appears to be right, the bottom of the door scrapes against the toe plate. 2) are front side seals touching the cabinet sides?
      3) is the toe kick in place and close to the floor? ( can’t remember if that has insulation?)
      If all that is good, then I would download a phone app of a decibel meter. Get one that has really good reviews. ( I have the free NIOSH app - supposed to be pretty good)
      With furnace , fans, and ALL background noise turned off, record readings from different places, then in those same places and all other background noise still off, take readings through dishwasher cycles. See what you get.
      May want to see if you can match manufacturer readings.
      Remember , the scale is logarithmic. So for every 10db, you get an order of magnitude increase in loudness. ( so 50 db is 10x louder than 40db and 100x louder than 30db etc. )
      Hope that helps.

      If you have a junction box on the wall with the proper strain-relief connector clamps, I don't see why not. But if you only have a cable coming out of the wall, Bosch makes an adapter with the Bosch 3-pin plug on one side, and a junction box on other with easy screw terminals to in your existing circuit. No wire nuts necessary.

    Hi...great video and thank you - but there is 1 area I did not see ANYWHERE! The install went very smooth and everything works - but I am having a problem putting in the toe panel. I have a BOSCH 800 series with a non-slotted panel but the bracket does not plug into the opening in the dishwasher. Called the BOSCH hot line and they hung up on me twice. Any suggestions? The picture (24) on page 29 of install manual shows exactly what I am experienceing...the "ribs" in the slot do not allow the backet to plug in...Please help! Thanks

    • @Housebarons
      @Housebarons  Год назад

      Hey user…,
      That install was at another house so I can only go by memory. The slots on the side should line up with the dishwasher frame.
      Find where the screws are supposed to go into the silver frame 1st. Then work backward to the toe kick. I think the toe kick may have been in 2 pieces - like a too and bottom. I would treat it as a puzzle- where the screws go in the frame is your best clue.
      Sorry I can’t help more.

      Hey Tim,
      If I remember right the toe kick gas to holes or slots on the sides. When you place the toe kick on the bottom of the dishwasher, the holes on the toe kick should line up with a thread hole on the frame/ supports of the bottom of the dishwasher. See if you can spot those threaded holes on either side of the bottom frame of the dishwasher before trying to line up the kick plate.

    I ordered from one of the big box home centers and the salesman told me that we would need to pull a building permit for them to do the installation (even to replace an existing unit)!! I can definitely do this without their "help" !!!

    • @Housebarons
      @Housebarons  3 года назад +3

      Hey Ricardo,
      “ does that seem a bit much?” My personal opinion - Ah..... Y E S ! ABOSOLUTELY. EXTREMELY - there are probably not enough words in the English language to highlight that.
      At the turn of the 20th century, the FARMERS' ANTI-AUTOMOBILE SOCIETY OF PENNSYLVANIA proposed laws like : “In case a horse is unwilling to pass an automobile on the road, the driver of the car must take the machine apart as rapidly as possible and conceal the parts in the bushes.”
      Sounds like where you live, someone succeeded in such laws???
      Common sense is in short supply these days. The dishwasher in the video doesn’t even require wiring. You plug it in like a toaster.
      I suppose, if one does not understand the directions or doesn’t want to be bothered, fine. Feel free to get a site survey. But to legislate away the privilege of someone using their skills and common sense seems “a bit much”. Your “I can do this “ attitude is exactly why we do what we do! Here’s to much success and the continued hope we never have to someday disassemble our cars .... !

They sent a repairman out2 weeks later and he didn’t bring any parts with him. He found more than the fan bad and ordered parts. It will take another 2 weeks for him to come back!oh plus the bill will be over $500! For a $1200 dollar dish washer. The warranty on these,is inadequate for a Premium Product. I’m not happy with Bosch, even though the washer is nice and unbelievably quiet. Think it over before you drop that much money for a dishwasher.

    Great video and explanation, but I was disappointed as it didn't show what I am interested in. I bought a new one, and the plumber installed it so I can't see the controls once the door is shut, because they are under the counter-top. Also the dishwasher is tilted forward a bit, so the side flashing is angled and sticks out form between the counters on the sides a bit. He said if he pulls the dishwasher out so the controls are visible, the side-flashing will be out from between the cabinets. This doesn't seem right at all. Maybe I should call Bosch.
