When I first heard the song and reading his tweet, this is exactly the same way I interpreted the song as well!!! I'm glad I wasn't alone on my theory haha, especially about the "you should be your night". What a beautiful song!
I listened to some of other people's interpretations but I think the Korean translations on some of the RUclips lyric videos are wrong (I'm Korean-Canadian). Which is a shame because I think the message is really beautiful and much better than just a love song

I also interpreted it as knight (fighter) because they don't need anyone to save them like a damsel in distress would need their knight and shine armor. No, a knight can save their self.

I knew it was a song he wrote to himself but gifted to his fans, that it wasn't about a secret love affair that his has with another person. But you did an excellent job with the literal translation and explanation. I especially appreciate how you linked it to his song Lie to show us how he has resolved, and continues to resolve, his conflict encouraging us to do the same.
