I heard another analysis that the girl who turned into the blanket represented Army who comforted and protected BTS through the years and also helped support BTS against haters (evil dragon). I like both versions of the song but the original version will always have a deeper connection for me, although I love the concept of the animation 💜

The "GIRL" you see there is Jimin from Serendipity and the Boy is Kookie.. Everything is so connected that you can figure out the WHOLE #CONNECT_BTS PROJECT by yourself. In this MV the most importan part is at 2:43! And their project is to destroy homophobia!

I think it's related to Joseph Campbell's 'The Hero with a Thousand Faces'. He and Herman Hesse are also highly influenced by Jung. Someone must be very intelligent to be able to integrate these whole theories into the concept.

4:58 I think it can also mean that "map of their identity=you" is not because we're their purpose and goal, But that in all these years while tending to us and satisfying us they have been bit by bit losing their own personalities too. Maybe not losing but them getting blurred and overshadowed by their stage 'personas.'
As Namjoon has said about identity issues between RM and Namjoon, which is basically the whole concept of Mots:Persona that you make a whole new persona, an outer personality to satisfy people surrounding you and yourself instead of accepting who you are. So by taking care of their fans through their stage personalities barely leaves time for their original ones.
And so as the lyrics say "now I'll spread wide my map called you" it also means that the character will keep making things right for us and is also now aware of his inner personality as he tries to prolong his persona. Which is why shadow breaks free after attempts to keep ourselves and others contented with a happy persona.
The MV is literally their “journey of the hero” by Campbell mentioned in the book map of the soul of Carl jun

I agree, they can be interchangeable the boy can be Army and the girl can be BTS. I felt that in the song when I first heard it and saw the mv feat. LAUV, it's like they are speaking to each other and helping each other.
If you look very close into the Music Video you'll maybe see who's the boy and the answer to the "girl" can you find in Serendipity. And you know who's singing it.
I love this song so much, and for some reason whenever I hear it, my heart beats faster and I feel like crying... Now whenever I will hear this song, I'll know it's a way of BTS telling us they love us. Thank you so much for this video, you have no idea how grateful I am. do you think maybe the animated fight between the hero and dragon that looks like a shadow depicts the battle of persona and shadow? a constant battle within ourselves,, this usually happens in idol life,, it is when they are being deprived of freedom because of maintaining a good public image,, making it difficult for them to be themselves... hence a constant battle of anxiety and deppression... just a thought,,

Since the mv shows the boy and the girl getting laughed at, I assumed that the dragon symbolized the external hardships they had to endure in their journey, but what you said made a lot of sense and it could definitely be both things at once. Your theory certainly fits with the concept, so the dragon could be a projection of their inner struggles! FANTASTIC POINT! 👏🏻👏🏻

I personally think the boy in the illustration is always the bts and the girl is army.
And when the boy is tired and girl is standing tall, they must be trying to depict that in their lows army stand tall as they stand tall while army is at their low.

So then what was the meaning for showing jk and jimin? 🧐 with fireworks? And not the other members? 🤔
I know my answer will probably be very disappointing, but I really think it was random... meaning that they were enjoying the fireworks and BigHit filmed them and chose to include it in the video. I really don't think it has a deeper meaning beyond the fact that they're enjoying the celebration of them and army coming together. We see JK and Jimin, but could've been anybody else if they chose to stay and watch the fireworks. I could definitely be wrong tho, who knows eheh :D
I really have a theory for this . Why do I believe RM wrote it for them from Jk's perspective the blue and yellow symbolises Jimin then suddenly the environment turns green which is a mix of blue and yellow , their mic are also blue and gold , in the lyrics it's shown like ,I got a bit taller , my golden mic ,which is Jm's mic , and jk wrote a song some years back like " a person gave him purpose made him dream also he wanted to fulfill that person's dream too " Jimin's nickname is Army so the double theory Will perfectly fit like it's a song for army also it's a song about Jimin being the comfort for that one person.

as for the answer, it's very possible that they included the drawing to foreshadow the storyline we see in Make it Right. But now that you make me think of it, the Idol dragon could have been a bigger hint for Map of the Soul as a whole. Like, the 'fight' between the persona and the shadow or something on these lines. I have to do a little research about it, but I'm pretty sure that the dragon is one of the symbols Jung uses to represent the shadow. In Idol is Jimin who draws it, so maybe it could be a hint for something to come! Thank you for this, time to take out the psychoanalysis books once again eheh
