It has been very encouraging to watch and learn about BTS lyrics. It is no wonder they continue to be a huge success. They are giving the young generation strong positive messages that lift them up from their feelings and fears of failure. The "consumer" society that we all live in has conditioned many people (young and old) to believe that they are disposable and easily replaceable. This is especially damaging to young people who are very impressionable. In turn, it is very encouraging to BTS to see the strong positive response that validates their value and hard work!
I must also give much respect to their management company and its owner. They created and nurture the environment that allows these young artist to express themselves freely in a very respectful way. I get the impression that Bang Si-Hyuk guides them like a loving parent who supervises but doesn't strangle their children. I have seen one or two interviews with him. I would love to see a video that outlines a kpop management team and what makes Big Hit different from the other companies. Would you consider doing a series on that topic?

Wow! I wish I had such access to the Big Hit team :) I've had a chance to meet with some nice YG folks for work, but I have no connection to Big Hit at the moment. It's true Korea is a small country and I never actively sought it out though.
Most of the times, I am happy (or even prefer) being just a fan than becoming a semi-insider. But if there was a chance to form a more informed opinion of how their music and messages come about, I'd definitely take it.
Bang PD must have been doing something right given the honest messages in BTS' music, and how smoothly they renewed the 7-year contract. No worries about the long comments!

I heard about BTS from my cousin brother who was also an idol trainee at that time. (he's a model now.)
I listened to them a few times but i wasn't brave enough to call myself their fan.
in 2015 a lot of stuff happened and i turned to music.
And i started falling in love with BTS.
Finally in 2016, I started coming out and became an official army.
I love watching them grow.
I feel stupid for not watching them grow.
But now i can proudly say, I'm an army for life

This was their 2015 MV, this shows how determined they were (then) to pursue success and they're inviting ARMYs to join them. Fast forward, they're so huge that their counterparts hardly keep up with them. I so admired/admire their love (crafts) and their determination to succeed. What an inspiration!!!!💜

this is my first time learning that the word could also means "soak" because the lyrics means something else now wow theres so many word play with the word actually and all this while i thought it was just a repetitive words :O
but tbh, when i first listened to dope i thought it was just an upbeat dance song, after knowing the meaning behind it i became more attached to the story behind it and so i learned everything i could for the behind meanings but theres always something new to learn! just like from your video! the same goes to songs like baebsae its just too intriguing when you know what theyre actually talking about

Great explaination! I read somewhere that the lyrics "6-giveup" means that BTS can give up on 'dating,marriage,having kids,getting a job, buying house and human relationship' but not on hope.... is this the correct meaning?

My girlfriend saw a vlive commercial with BTS and liked the sound of the soundtrack...so I've sent the DOPE video but I wanted something more then a direct translation. This is perfect. 💜

Hello! I don't know if you'll see this now but I was wondering about a certain lyric. About J-Hope's part, "모두 비실이 찌질이 찡찡이 띨띨이들". It was censored at one music show performance and it was changed to "모두 순심이 랩모니 구름이 (또순이들)" (They changed it to the names of BTS' members' dogs lol) I was wondering why that is? I am not a Korean speaker but I read somewhere on Twitter that the lyrics kinda harsh(?) and downgrading people so they have to change it to their dog names for broadcast purposes 😂
Looks like the broadcast company rejected the lyrics due to 비속어 사용, use of colloquial or offensive words. It is unclear exactly which word they referred to. I am guessing 띨띨이 and/ or 비실이. But who knows 😄
