Hair Personality - Hair Fashion (1964)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 12 апр 2014
- Wiglets are one of the newest trends in 1964. You would like a quick change of your look? How about a new cut and some flowers to match you new found personality.
London.
C/Us of black and white photographs of Joanne Dainton - film and television actress. C/U of Joanne with very large curlers in her hair. She is at Rose Evansky's London hair salon. Various shots of her chatting to the male stylist as he takes out her curlers. Rose herself comes and brushes Joanne's hair through. Good C/U of Rose back combing Joanne's hair and C/U of Joanne posing - looking into the mirror with a very coy expression.
Various shots of hairpieces being fitted to Joanne's hair. Big hair! A lovely band of large white flowers is placed upon Joanne's hair. Totally fabulous! "Such feminine impulses to buy new clothes and indulge in beauty treatments can reveal a whole range of hidden characters" states the narrator, he observes how with her new "do" it is hard to believe she is the same girl as in the photographs. "Husbands find it puzzling" states the narrator "it is something which defeats the average male."
The suggestion is that hairstyles can change a woman's outlook or personality.

I can't stop watching these British Pathė videos
Me neither. They are GOLD.
Same.
their old accent is so much better than the actual
Same
Me too. So classic & beautiful
And Joanne's personality suddenly changed from mild-mannered typist to deranged lunatic.
Hahahahah.......
Oh boy , love the comment ! : )
That is funny!
psammiad ikr! I actually liked the bob hair cut but the wig with flowers made her look like a seuss character
Joanna Lumley!!
"husband finds it puzzling" lol
She looks like that girl from the Grinch movie.
Tijana Miladinovic you mean wilywonka? 😂
@@liyanadabbous1007 no, i meant Cindy Lou
Woah you read my mind!
yes
The narration was hilarious.
I adore those bangs!!! 😍
I wore these kind of bangs years ago, it takes a lot of maintenance, but it is really cute !
Same! I want them!
Ríta Geïn They piss me off!
😍😍😍😍😍
V Bangs wouldn't work on everyone but very cool.
1:44 That is actually quite beautiful. 😍I love these strange dos. They're so interesting and fabulous to me. Then again I had always been fascinated by alternative fashions.
Right?? I think she looks amazing. It’s definitely a style of its time, but it still looks incredible.
Gorgeous hair of the 1960s! I need to get myself a wiglet!!!
hair stylist :Lady how would you like to look
Lady : one rooster please
Hair stylists: say no more
That shade (Her hair) of blonde is gorgeous.
Initially, all bottle blondes look nice. Unfortunately, that never lasts very long.
The stylist is an artist. Fun to watch. Thanks
Where did they show these videos?
At cinemas between the support film and main film.
They're excerpts from newsreels that were shown in cinemas, before the main feature.
They're newsreel publications, so i assume as part of a news broadcast on current or past events
Pretty sure they were cinema newsreels, originating from when going to the cinema was far more common than owning a tv. You used to be able to watch two films for a single cinema fare, which would be played with a break in between for newsreels like this! They stopped around 1970 I believe, as when more people began owning televisions and watching the news from home it became less popular and less profitable.
TV
Love those heart shaped bangs!
Aren’t they lovely??
More like vampire fangs. Reminds me of the Munsters hair dos!
Love these classic clips.
They are wonderfully entertaining and funny!
This look was SO trendy then! Liz Taylor wore a similar style for her wedding to Richard Burton in 1964. "Crazy Daisies" and wearing "flowers in your hair" ( to quote a contemporary song called San Francisco) were a big thing in the 1960s.
Did everyone see that tiny little downward point in the centre of the model's fringe? I remember having my fringe cut like that too, back then. It was a shape that was hard to keep in place and quickly looked crooked, so I didnt repeat it and neither did most women - but it sure looked stylish in fashion photos.
Love it
Give me time-space coordinates to this universe.
We are sadly still working on our time travelling service.
@@britishpathe I’d happily nominate myself if you succeed!! 🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️
That bob haircut with the V-shaped bangs were so much better than the "new cut" they gave her
Vidal Sassoon was a big name in hair styling at the time, I definitely think the bob was the end point of the cut and she looked amazing already with that alone. Also more practical that adding the wiglet and flowers.
Those flowers are beautiful
"And is Medem away anywhere especial on holiday this year? The colonies? How BRAVE of Medem!"
🔔🔚⬆️
i love that you can tell she likes it in the mirror
The sixties seemed to have a twenties influence. Evident in the bob haircut.
The narator such a mood.
She looked at that pic and was like " wtf?!" lmao
I must admit it is quite lovely !😍
I love your channel, this lady is beautiful and I love her hairstyle the bangs and color before the wigs and flowers were added, but I appreciate that in this time frame this was very fashionable. Thank you🥰
The haircut was nice but the wig and flowers were not.
indeed
The bangs looked weird... Should just have been a straight line 😂
The flowers were great the problem was the hairstyle
How she looks like Uncle Festers wife who tries to kill him all the time
@cubomania3 Too many flowers.
this video is kinda soothing somehow. and the blonde bob is cute on joanne
Definitivamente, la época más bonita fue de los años 60's para atrás, hombres y mujeres siempre bien arreglados sin importar su nivel socioeconómico, a qué se dedicaban; amo ver estos videos
The last roast lol😂
Man that looks good.
Can I be transported back to this time
Gorgeous!
Addictive channel... Wanna watch continuously ...
Ready for her Star Trek appearance
It’s quite interesting to watch these
The bob actually looks great on her. She definitely had the fitting face for that style. It's just the wig and flowers that really turned her seeming deranged.
Yeah she looks absolutely stunning at 0:57. Those embellishment really wasn't necessary.
I can’t explain why does the colour look richer? The way it looks is better
Beautiful
The daisy hairband looks really cute. The wig is unnecessary tho.
How their natural hair used to be so shiny healthy n beautiful?
Joanne’s hair changed from Typical Blonde to Cindu Lou Who from The Grinch🤣
id love to experience such a lifestyle
I liked it
Wow, such feminine impulses.
Lol right? 😂
DANG!! that womans hair looked just like my two toes spread apart
Quando assisto esses vídeos parece que eu vivi nessa época
I imagine this is like runways models- perfect for the performance but not indicative of reality.
"Less is more"
Joanne : Huh? What u say? More is more!!!
I remember using those big curlers back then !
I do miss those times of female elegance and a more ladylike style… Is that lost forever or will it come back? Thank you for uploading!
Hair that changes personality.
Its cool stuff. Only wish there was longer clips. Where the heck do you find them? Bet its not youtube...
the original bob was so chic and beautiful, not the crazy flower band...what were they thinking?
At least they combed their hair
I like these videos always with too much dreamy music.
it's a wig pinned to a wig, and you cant convince me otherwise
Were the people back then took their inspiration from the whoville 🤣
Damn, Joanne looks gorg! Especially those eyes. ((Coming from a jealous brown eyed black haired Asian)
subtle
Back then thin almost non-existent made to look longer eyebrows were in fashion. Today it is thicker waxed eyebrows in fashion. No one should be made to feel like they have to give up their comfort or spend too much of their time just to stay in fashion.
I thank G-d for You.
once, people looked much older than they really were. for example, I bet this woman is 8-9 years old.
Husbands find it puzzling...🤣
That was as matching as chalk and cheese.
That isn't a hair style, that's a sculpture!
Where would she wear this? !
To a garden party of course!
That was “so in” in the 60s.
At parties, discos, or raves. In fact it is quite lovely compare to some modern hair styles.
Note the eyebrows were rounded, and further apart. Not too close together, like the current trend that makes women look angry and mean.More feminine.
Why put the huge rollers and the pin curls if your gonna comb it out then put a wig on top? Waste of time
بيجننو 😍😍😍
Beautiful model with a horrible hairstyle...
that only got worse.
Your point is worse and invalid. You do have to realize you're watching those hairstyle which was from 1964.
Of course if you're having it in today's world it will be horrifying.
@@laicilaici4972 I don't think it was an invalid point. I think that it is possible to look at hairstyles objectively regardless of what era they were current just as there are some horrific styles that are considered current today. Does that mean that we should all like them? Not at all.
In the 90s the rat-tail was the latest trend but as far as I was concerned, (& I have no doubt that I'm not alone in my opinion), I hated it then & I hate it now 20+ years on therefore my opinion on that particular style never changed. That being said, the era that the style was in is not necessarily a sure indication that it was considered by everyone to be stylish & tasteful at the time. 😊
@@mylifeisruined4413 No need to apologize since I took no offense at your comment but thank you for having the good grace to do it anyway.😊
not back then .. look at the 80s, the 90s .. every decade has its own horrible hairstyles
When british women had style, beauty and class 😂
She looks like stephnie weir a comedian from madtv😮
Interesting
ayo she look like villian
Is it just me or Joanne Dainton looks a lot like Amy Poehler?
Thought that was Amy Poehler in the thumbnail
Anyone else think she looks related to Leslie Knope
The comments! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I could just imagine her fast forwarding 3 years ahead to San Francisco. How'd she look with those flowers in her hair after a few joints???
すごく可愛らしくなりました!ヾ(●´∇`●)ノ
Joanne looks like the Gringe.
"It is something that defeats the average male"💀
سحرة
whatever happened to….
It does help a lot if the person is good looking in the first place though . She is ,and doesn't need make up or those totally ridiculous false eyelashes 😂
Why does Joanne look a bit like Heidi Klum in some angles 2 me.
Its something that defeats the average male.
She looks like Xena
Whoville
All I can think is about all the sexual favors that poor girl had to do to be who she was
lord farquad
Is that her husband? 😆
Yes, Albert Evansky I was a apprentice to Rose at this time
the old goat is rich💍💎💰
The daisies ruined it
The birth of karen
*_1:55_**_ In walks Karl Marx_*
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Her bangs are annoying me. Ughhh! Just trim that point on it!
No.
No!
Dean Winchester it's Sassoon cutting
I liked it, it gave interest to a very classic simple style. It was a trend in the 60s.
No one noticed that cute lavender dress and cute hair stylist. This color is so hard to get. I got a lavender Guess coat last year. So adorable!
Wtf
YAHWEH blessed.
