I will say, that Damien's experience does give perspective. However, as in life, each person's journey is their own. We all have our own inner struggles. Damien journey is incredible and as he says he doesn't look at his experience as bad anymore.. it allowed him to learn all this stuff. I think, however, comparing our own experiences as "you think YOU had it bad.. look at that person over there". That is not helpful. We have to love ourselves and have compassion for ourselves.

I vaguely remember hearing about the West Memphis 3. However, I was out living my life. I had my own spiritual practice for many years, I knew folks who practiced Thelema but I never gravitated towards it, although my spiritual practice was connected in some ways with High Magickal practices. However, the last 13 years I was wandering in the wilderness and by change (via another practitioner FOOLISH FISH ) I rediscovered Damien Echols work. I wish I had rediscovered him earlier actually, when I had more money to put into actively engaging with him. I appreciate that his work has made this stuff so accessible. I feel like a baby learning to walk again. I guess everything has it's own time for being where you need to be at the time. Damien has demonstrated that he is a very kind, compassionate and awake individual. He is doing good in the world.. at a time when there is so much corruption and pain and suffering. Peace.

There are many poets, artists and mystics who, when you read their work or listen to them speak, in not so many words, express the profundity and beauty of something as simple as experiencing deep mystical moments from looking at a rose or a smple blade of grass. Whatever practice it is which brings us to the awareness of the inseparableness of everything is exactly the call of our heart which awakens us from our projection-dreams of a "me" versus "them".
It takes quite a calling and being in integrity with one's Self to have the courage to honor his heart and share that it was through his dedicated practice of magick which allowed him to experience true identity. For someone who experienced being wrongly accused and being prison for two decades AND then come out publicly to speak a practice which was part of what was used as evidence for saying he was guilty, THAT says more than anything that can be said in words.
Thank you for sharing this interview.

It would be ignorant to base someone’s supposed guilt over wearing black or listening to heavy metal music, or acting weird. We aren’t doing that. We’re also not basing our opinions on biased documentaries made by Hollywood. Yes, mistakes were made in this case, but you can’t argue with facts and evidence. And there’s plenty of it. What he found was even further beyond what Eastern practices taught about the path to Enlightenment. If you want proof watch S01 E03 of [ the Midnight Gospel ] on Netflix - Damien Echols is interviewed in that episode. His talk about the Cosmic Body is the closest step your ego can take to achieve divinity and escape the cyclic process of merging with the source of all matter and energy in our Universe - IE - the unraveling of the soul. There's nothing wrong with wanting to return to Source (it's the final resting place for all thought forms before their essence is recycled) and I admire everyone who love their mortal existence so much they chose to push the limits of what it means to physically exist. : )
