Episode Two - Before the Law
And isn't that a minor miracle? The state of the world today and the level of conflict and misunderstanding, that two men could stand on a lonely road in winter and talk calmly and rationally... while all around them, people are losing their mind.

Love every minute Mike Milligan is on screen. This season is really hard to pick a favorite performance, but Bokeem Woodbine is captivating before uttering a single word.
Bokeem is wildly underrated and I was glad he got to shine this season. I always point people toward Saving Grace, with Holly Hunter, for another great performance from Bokeem.
He was too annoying. Trying too hard to sound smart and cool
@@morehamsandwichyou're in an extremely small minority
This season produces more interesting to watch characters in just 2 episodes than some shows can in 6 or 7 seasons. I'm loving the reaction to it here.
Kirsten Dunst is just so amazing in this.
Hated that character. Wish they would’ve killed her off early on
Bokeem Woodbine (Mike Milligan) is such a magnetic force this season. His manner of verbal maneuvering is incrediblely well written and Bokeem delivers it so smoothly and with such charisma.
Always a face I love to see in stuff, he's mostly in B-movies unfortunately, but some of his more A-list movies are small roles like Spiderman Homecoming, Ghostbusters Afterlife, or the M Night ensemble piece Devil.
I thought it was Dave Chapelle at first lmao
I thought there was no possible way a villain like Lorne Malvo could be replicated, but the character of Mike Milligan came pretty close.
@@Cookieboy70 I love their contrast. Lorne is a force of chaos and Mike is a force of control. Wonderully written and brilliantly performed.
Ed Blomquist shoving Rye Gerhardt's body into a meat grinder was an obvious reference to the scene in Fargo (1996) where Gaear grinded up Carl's body up in the wood chipper.
All denim is a Canadian Tuxedo
This is my favorite season Kristin Dunst is hilarious in this show. 😂
Stabbing Dod. Lol😂😂
Canadian tuxedo
9:50 "intimidation with a typewriter."
Really good use of splitscreen that not only adds a style but uses "show don't tell" to cover multiple characters at once and it's never overused. Really efficient storytelling. Everything in season 2 is of the highest quality of television, the writing, the performances, the composition and editing, even the music.
Reminded me a lot of Better Call Saul with the split screen edits
This season is just such a masterpiece. Love that you guys are getting to experience for the first time.
Mike Milligan and the Kitchen Brothers😁
I love Fargo so much. "Woman can't be a boss" tell that to Mags Bennett - "Justified" ;)
100%! Mags would have smacked the shit out of him for that! 😂
It's called a Canadian Tuxedo.0
All denim is a Canadian Tuxedo lol
There’s so much to take in in your first viewing. What a beautiful show, Noah Hawley and his team really captured the time period perfectly. I have no doubt you guys would love his other show LEGION which I saw others said. More mind blowing in my opinion. It would be a great watch during spooky season. I’m not really into scary movies like I was when I was younger but my wife still watches them regularly and LEGION has some really scary material even though it’s not a horror series. It’s amazing both these series didn’t get more recognition especially LEGION
The original television airing played "Eve of The War" from Jeff Wayne's War of The Worlds during the closing after Lou leaves the butcher shop. It really tied the ending of this episode together with the weird UFO from episode one. Such a shame it was removed from every other version, because it fits so well.
Canadian tuxedo!
splitscreen, quadrants and other combined shots were a distinct style choice in the 70’s
The meat grinder scene reminds me of the Sopranos when they were chopping up bodies. Christopher said one of those times "I won't be eating at Satriale's for awhile" 🤣
Lol is the black guy Massive Genius? The rapper from Sopranos season 1? Who had a crush on Adriana?
Yea same actor
Quite a while ago haha and he looks pretty different but that voice gives him away.
Cristin Milioti also played one of Johnny Sack's daughters. Here she play's Lou's wife.
All denim? That's the Canadian tuxedo!
Great video. You guys should watch movies like Pulp Fiction, The Negothiator, Training Day, Hackers, The Relic, U.S. Marshalls (a sequal of The Fugitive), Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2 and Shaft. There are so many more movies I can name, but I would say start with the ones I mentioned here first. These movies are worth watching, cause they are excellent.
Bokeem Woodbine, as Mike Milligan is a unique character, but my favorite characters are Patrick Wilson as state trooper Lou Solverson, and Kirsten Dunst as Peggy Blomquist.
I don't know the order they filmed, but the way Peggy's mental illness becomes more and more prominent as the show progresses and her stress increases is masterful. One of Kirsten's best performances.
Bookeem Woodbine best performance of his entire career!
Kirsten Dunst deserved an Emmy for her performance this season.
He just barely beats out Nikki for my favorite character in the series. Milligan is so good.
@@Cookieboy70she definitely acted the shit out of this role. She doesn't get the credit she deserves as an actor.
15:16 "which one?" 😁
If I remember right, unlike season 1, this season is heavy exposition. A lot of tension just built throughout the season. Absolutely love the way they use the split screens to show multiple sides/stories at once.
13:38 One of the best scenes ever there. Bokeem Woodbine and Ted Danson exchange is so spot on! The cool preserved banter of a lifetime criminal. The midwestern "nice" police officer probing.
Such a please rewatching this season. Bokeem Woodbine is the fuckin man.
This is a super strong season of television. Enjoy
Ed could have ground up Rye Gerhardt to sell some Rye sandwiches on rye bread.
Served with rye whisky?
Awwww...😔
Ill grind your bones to make my bread.
Season 2 had changes to the licensed music on some platforms.
This is what was cut from the original airing: ruclips.net/video/EkzO1opIF2E/видео.html
The filters , the cars , the cast , the music , the shots . Absolutely spectacular .
The shop is full of body parts of sentient beings who didn't want to die, including Rye. Just because it is normalized doesn't mean the victim suffered any less fear, terror, or suffering.
Another benefit of taking the deal is they would have the added protection of Kansas City against that Southern interest while they are weak after the incapacitation of Otto. Even if the Gerhardts managed to go to war and somehow beat back Kansas City, it may be a pyrrhic victory if they are now too weak to survive a follow-up attack from the Southern interest.
Jean Smart and Rachel Keller are both in Legion; one of my all-time favourite TV series
My favorite too, I can’t believe more people haven’t watched LEGION. It’s a show like Fargo that you can watch it over and over again and still find new things and maybe come up with new conclusions. I can’t for season 5 and the aliens series
Canadian tuxedo is all denim😂
To quote another amazing show, "Kinives are knives, meat's meat"
Canadian Tuxedo!
So glad you guys are reacting to this! You do a wonderful job as always. A couple of shows in the same genre that I hope you guys do are of course, Beaking Bad, Ozark and a Australian sleeper that is wonderful and I think you would really enjoy is a show called Mr. In Between. Congrats on rhe baby girl and God Bless!!
Thank you for the recommendations! We’ve seen Breaking Bad, but have not seen Better Call Saul, or your other recs!
The Mr. In Betwwen show is 30 minutes per episode and the relationship between the main character and his daughter ia very well done. Look at me being unfair pulling on the daughter heartstrings but you will enjoy it!@@TBRSchmitt
@@TBRSchmitt Mr. In Between is a show right up your alley!
Good ol’ denim on denim. The Canadian Tuxedo.
Canadian Tuxedo 😁
So glad you reacted to Fargo and all it’s glory.
I would love to see you react to Hard Sun. A British series. It’s definitely up your alley.
Who would have thought that Bokeem Woodbine would have been scarier as preppie criminal Mike Milligan than he was as any of the "bald scary black man" parts he has generally been typecast as.
Bookeem Woodbine was the star of season 2, followed closely by Patrick Wilson.
Oh, season 4 sheds some light on one the season 2's character 😅.
I have to admit I actually like this season a bit more than the first, I loved the characters in this one
5:38 i'm sure sam will start saying this in a about 14 years.
teenagers, right?
28:15 there's no body in peggy's mind, she's been in denial from the moment she hit him
You did not mind that malvo liked to talk
Canadian Tuxedo
This is a season that I kinda forgot about at first but I revisited because of reactions started dropping and it's the best out of them all. Really solid work
👍
Twitter is now X :-) *Wisecracker Mode off*
Also , those are actually aliens. They are here !!!
Peggy has to be calm so no gift me suspect what she/ they did
The mother saying she'll hand her son his legacy means nothing when she's preparing to sell off the legacy and make them owned by outsiders.
There's a saying ''I'd rather d!e on my feet than live on my knees''. Selling the operation and ''reporting'' to them means they'll never be free. They will be owned.
I love the series as well and I am looking forward to season 4 which will start end of October
Season 5
You're right @@gregwodzynski941 I forgot Season 4 because it such a crappy Season that I stopped watching after Episode 2
Mike Milligan > Lorne Malvo
My selfish ass is waiting for S3
After Season 1, I was dissatisfied with Season 2. For reasons I'll explain when it's over (to avoid spoilers).
