This edges out SOTD for me. The gags are even more relentless. It has an incredible cast - so many great British actors. And Timothy Dalton is one of my favourite actors. Nice job ladies!
A little easily overlooked detail, the desk sergeant is always reading a novel by either Iain Banks or Iain M Banks depending if it's the day or night shift. (same actor, Bill Bailey, playing both)
I'm not sure if you noticed, but the police don't kill anyone in the movie. Only one of the villains dies in this movie, and it is the guy that sets off the sea mine. All the other villains get arrested and jailed.
Other great British comedies are: - Snatch - Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels - The Brothers Grimsby - The Full Monty - and another 30 movies in the "Carry On..." collection.

There is another one : The World's End, plus there's a TV series called Spaced starring Pegg and Frost directed by Edgar Wright. Also Pegg & Frost were in a movie called Paul.
@@stinkhornadrian sorry, i seemed to have looked right past that. I know it has a different director, but it still has those 2 in it, and is worth a watch.
"My, my, here come the Fuzz." Fun Fact: When in costume, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg often were assumed to be police officers. Many strangers asked them for directions, and instead of telling the truth they went along with it. Cameos Cameos Fact: Nicholas' ex-girlfriend Jeanine at the crime scene is Cate Blanchett. The Santa that stabs Nicholas is Peter Jackson. P. I. Staker is Stephen Merchant, best known in America as the voice of Wheatley in Portal 2 (2011). The judges for the Best Kept Village competition near the end of the film are played by Peter Wild and the mothers of Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg. Actor's Actor Fact: The filming of Angel and Skinner's first meeting at the supermarket was filmed over the course of two days. The conversation was filmed entirely from Timothy Dalton's perspective first. The next day, early in the morning, they were to film the conversation with Angel's perspective and close-ups. Dalton, much to the surprise of the crew, showed up early the next morning, and even though he wasn't going to be on camera for that particular portion of the filming, he sat off-camera in Skinner's chair and played the role so that Simon Pegg would be able to have him to work with while filming his part as Angel. Pegg stated it really showed Dalton's professionalism.
There are a number of model villages like the one at the end around England for some reason, I remember visiting the one in bourton on the water as a kid, it’s all built in stone. They’re miniature versions of the village they’re in. Like everything else in film there’s foreshadowing the climax earlier on with the line “you want to be a big cop in a small town, fuck off up the model village”
Masterpiece! Superior understanding of editing and direction from Edgar Wright indeed! The blocking and camara shots are amazing there' isnt one dull moment, the pacing and transition from scene to scene are extraordinary!... And of course the script and acting are also great, filled with referances that makes this an amazing movie!... Great Watch great reaction!... Part of the "Cornetto Trilogy" or "Three Flavours Cornetto” just because they at certain point of the 3 movies always go for a cornetto of a certain flavor in each movie! Strawberry Cornetto in "Shaun of the Dead", here in "Hot Fuzz" they go for a Classico Cornetto flavor, and in "The World's End" someone tastes a Mint Cornetto. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and all the cast are always recurring cast that shows up in the 3 movies, which makes it unique!
Great reaction to such a wonderful movie, it's a lot of fun watching others enjoy the movie so much, the succession of Olivia Coleman double entendres floors me every time, she's just incredible and I'm so glad her career went on to such great heights after this including the Oscar for best Lead Actress, if you ever venture into British sitcom reactions Olivia was in a superb long running sitcom called 'Peep Show' which you'd both find absolutely hilarious!
The Aron A. Aronson call back with the ginger kid at the end always gets me. I love this movie, it has enough references and homages that makes it fun, but not too many to make it a ripp-off. It's also very clever, and the script is tight, I always find something new I missed every time I rewatch it.
If you can find it, the TV sitcom 'Spaced' is where this combination of direction writing and acting started and is really worth seeing. Despite being a sitcom it still has the same style of directing and, yes, they are best friends in that as well.
I'm glad you guys enjoyed this so much! It's probably my favorite of the "trilogy", with Sean of the Dead being second. The World's End is fun, and definitely worth watching, but it's easily the weakest of the three. You might also want to watch Paul (2011) which also stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, as well as being written by them.
Thanks ladies. Almost the entire cast is famous in the uk. The older cast from horror movies. Even a former James bond , one was star of the equaliser ( denzel Washington played his character in the movie version) .
Wow, gorgeous ladies. Think i’ll be watching more of your reactions. 😂😂😂 As a Brit i LOVE Pegg/Frost movies. They work so well together. Such a great cast in this terrific movie too.
It's a great movie on its own, with Wright's own style (which he honed in TV with Pegg/Frost on Spaced) but then us old timers love the nods and winks at all those other old classics. Edgar Wright makes movies like Tarantino does, referencing all his favourite films, and like Tarantino he managed to get the cast to do some of the references here. Edward Woodward was the out of town cop investigating a cult in The Whicker Man, which Hot Fuzz owes most of its concept to (he was also the original Equaliser in US TV). Dalton obviously makes some Bond references, and loads of scenes refefence other movies, like the flying through the air sideways, shooting with both hands (just watch the trailer for Hard Boiled), getting impaled outside a church (The Omen) and obviously the Point Break/Bad Boys 2 stuff. It's endless. Love it.
Just a quick note about the "Cornetto trilogy" The thread that ties each of the movies together is that as some point they are eating Cornetto ice cream cones. Strawberry for Shaun of the Dead, Classico for Hot Fuzz, and Mint for The Worlds End. I apologize if someone already stated this and I missed it. Yall are great and I enjoy your content.
When he said “it’s not all about gunfights and car chases” you noticed that right away, there was a car chase (of sorts). I never thought about it before, but this is probably also a hint that we will see a gunfight,
Hot Fuzz is a homage (or piss take) of the hollywood police action movies, there are the obvious connections to Point Break and Bad Boys II, but alot Lethal Weapon, Twins named Roger and Martin, also the villian from Lethal weapon 3 Travis played by Stuart Wilson who is the doctor, Edward Woodward who was the orginal Equalizer plays the head of the NWA. Then you have the blink and you miss it cameos from Cate Blanchett as Nicholas' ex-girlfriend Jeanine and the Director of the Lord of the Rings Peter Jackson as Father Christmas.
I straight up think this is a perfect movie. There is not a wasted moment of screen time. Literally every moment is either foreshadowing or pay off, so that speaks to near perfect writing and directing. Then you have the cast that would be insulted by being described S-Tier. I'm not sure American's understand the calliber of actors that were brought in for this. And them some fucking rock star named Chris Dickens took all of that footage and made even the editing tell a story. Like, what more could you possibly ask for in a movie?
First time watching any of your videos, I'm about to watch the shaun one and probably more. Apologies in advance as i dont think you mentioned your names, but if red wants to find out what's under a true scotsmans kilt, 3 to 6 thousand miles travel is acceptable 😂😂😂
Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End are sometimes called the “Cornetto Triology” because there is at least one seen in each when Pegg and Frost eat Cornetto ice creams.

As someone in their 60th year of age, I do recall when the farmers here in the West country of England did own guns, and did say "get aff of moi land ye varmint"
I think you should watch a UK tv series Spaced. Find a copy of the complete series online and enjoy. Some of the funniest british entertainment ever produced. See where it all started with Simon Pegg Jessica Stevenson Nick Frost and Edgar Wright.
5:00 The joke is also that kids CAN legally go out in Europe when they are around 16 depending on the country, means 14 in real life, ie no cop would care unless you make a hassle. Act accordingly type stuff. He is being harsh
It’s been a while since I’ve been around the country and I’m not sure if it’s still the case, but I think model villages were reasonably common tourist type attractions in various villages and such… I’m not sure how common they are these days or were even in the past, but I do associate model villages with some of the smaller towns and villages in England… They may also be in other parts of the UK, but I’ve barely been to Scotland… I feel like I might have seen one in Wales at some point… I’m pretty sure they existed in England anyway… For some reason it feels right to me that they had a model village… Also a castle lol. This film has so many great callbacks too… Watch it a few times and you’ll catch all sorts of fun foreshadowing… Such a great movie.
Your first time reaction caused me to watch the movie for the first time just so I could then watch your reaction. 😂 Good, smart, British humor. I love the use of the "Bad Boys" style rotating camera shot at the end when they're taking on the villagers.
@ForceOfLightEntertainment actually they use the scene from Bad Boys II where they have that camera shot in the movie, so it's a nice call back at the end. You definitely need to watch Point Break for some 80s classic Swayze and early Keanu.
Not sure if you caught it or not but a character, I believe it was the police chief, makes the statement of "Make Samford Great Again" which is hilarious cause this is way pre-TRUMP/MAGA. NoW we need hats and shirts for MSGA. LOL
What's lovely is he never stops being a cop, even when he tools up, doesn't shoot anyone I think, he finds ways to make things happen in other ways. Not sure they're all non lethal, but he doesn't directly kill anyone I think.
Besides being crammed full of acting royalty, including three of OSCAR winners (two of which were uncredited cameos), it's chocker full of little details, like the names, the music Skinner is playing each time he appears at the crime scenes, and much, much, more.
The police have praised this movie for its portrayal of paperwork involved in police work. It's also one of those films that you catch more as you watch it, other hints and call backs all the way through. Like the kids' name at the end being the one the detectives use as an example earlier. Or the number spray painted on the fountain.
That was pretty fun. I've never seen it before. I think I need to go watch the whole thing now. I give this review 5 hoots 🦉🦉🦉🦉🦉 And I give you ladies 5+. Take care Michelle and Natalie.
Loved your reaction to this (first time finding your channel) - Since you enjoyed and appreciated 'Shaun of the Dead' and 'Hot Fuzz', then I guess you'll have already been prompted to watch 'The World's End' too. But might I strongly recommend that you also check out the British TV sitcom 'Spaced' (1999-2001), which was a precursor to Shaun and Fuzz (its third episode was actually the principal inspiration for making Shaun Of The Dead in the first place). It's chock-full of TV and movie references (although most of the TV references are quintessentially British ones), and the humour is very much the same, being ostensibly the same creative core who went on to produce the 'Cornetto Trilogy' films (Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost). Jessica Hynes (née Stephenson), who cameo'd in Shaun, co-wrote and co-starred with Simon Pegg, and it's quite simply comedy "fried gold". Okay, so I'm perhaps a little biased, but watching the gang evolve from cult TV comedy to global, big screen mega-success over a relatively short span of years was nothing short of glorious. Here's Episode 1: ruclips.net/video/6T8AERZfYQs/видео.htmlsi=sfculr4SxCMcB4jL (you can thank me later) 🙂
Great cameos... Santa with the knife = Peter Jackson, His girlfriend was Cate Blanchett... and a few other directors hidden in the cast... The rest of them are some veterans of British cinema..
Yarp guy is the hound from game of thrones, the director of the movie his the Petrol station clerk, the farmer with the guns, is Walter Frey off game of thrones, the police guy with the moustache is the kind off house of the dragon, the shop owner was James Bond, Olivia Coleman Oscar winner, there are probably more I can’t think of
The World's End is the third movie by this whole crew. Another movie you might consider (though not by the same director) is Paul. It still stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. I've always grouped it together with these movies..
@@paulbriggs5238 Man Stroke Woman is/was perhaps less well known. I only happened upon the complete DVD of it in a random Op Shop. Simon Pegg, for one, was also in Big Train I think
Shaun of the dead was a showcase of some of the best British talent Simon had worked with at the start of his career. Hot fuzz is so packed with legends it's a great game spotting who's who. Including Peter Jackson as the Santa who stabbed Nicholas and Kate Blanchette as his girlfriend Jeanine.
@ForceOfLightEntertainment Now I need to see "The World's End." The third and last movie in this group( the Cornetto trilogy), to be ready for your Ladies' reaction. 👍
yeah hot fuzz is a masterpiece. basically every line delivers a joke and a bit of the story puzzle. the camera work and the cuts are like chaun of the death but in this movie they mastered it
This is the 2nd movie of the "Three Flavors Cornetto" trilogy (1 of the flavors of a Cornetto ice cream cone is featured in each). #1: Shaun of the Dead, #2: Hot Fuzz, and #3: The World's End.

Shut up man. Ffs. ‘Outsider’ 😂 making patently untrue comments based on absolutely no experience whatsoever. I live about 10 miles from the village where they filmed this, and guess what, it’s EXACTLY like this to this day, as are the other hundreds of English villages scattered across the country.
The Swan.... At the end, watch the camera angles and framing as the swan appears behind the police chief and attacks him. Now re-watch Aliens - the part where the drop ship pilot is killed by an alien causing the ship to crash. You might say mostly similar? Mostly.... 😎

I love all the foreshadowing in these films. “You can’t wait to jump into your predecessor’s grave” - he does exactly that. “If you want to be a big cop, f**k off to the model village” - he does. “Catch me later” - he does.
Great reaction ladies. So many call backs to Shaun of the dead, the fence jumping, cornetto's and even his girlfriend in the beginning of the movie behind the mask is the same actress. FYI the Cornetto's change colour in each movie. Strawberry (Red for blood) in Shaun of the dead, Blue in Hot Fuzz for Police colours and Green in The Worlds End.

Seamine triggers: "OOoo! Shut the door!" I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! LOL Out of the three films of the Blood and Ice Cream Cornetto Trilogy, this one remains the best movie in my opinion - curiously, which one is actually my favorite tends to shift as I get older. Originally, I loved Shaun of the Dead when it came out, but felt it was eclipsed by the tighter writing and performances in Hot Fuzz and actually kind of felt disappointed by the final film, The World's End...but now, though I will still say that Hot Fuzz has the best writing of the three movies, The World's End might actually be my favorite of the films. I'll save why for commenting on that film when you see it. Thank you for sharing this reaction with us, it was truly a joy and I'm very much looking forward to you experiencing The World's End.
Hi Michelle & Natalie, really glad you enjoyed this film, you will see the Police chief of the village again soon, in another franchise you are watching. :)
If you want to react to something I've not yet seen anyone react to, never mind just folks from the US - it's a very bleak (with some comedic moments) film by British director Shane Meadows called Dead Man's Shoes. It stars Paddy Considine (the detective with the moustache in Hot Fuzz) and it's very dark indeed. I imagine it kind of goes against the grain of your channel, but it's only a suggestion. Excellent reaction though both of you.

You forgot Leslie Tiller. She was a villiain but got killed by her fellow villiains.
Also if you notice, the only accidental death in the movie that we see.
Other great British comedies are:
- Snatch
- Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels
- The Brothers Grimsby
- The Full Monty
- and another 30 movies in the "Carry On..." collection.
Thanks!

"My, my, here come the Fuzz."
Fun Fact: When in costume, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg often were assumed to be police officers.
Thanks!!
You're welcome! I really love this movie!

@@BigGator5 it’s great!! Amen
When you know the careers of the supporting cast, it makes this excellent film ten times better.
"For the greater good." "Shut it!". my favorite bit of business in the film.
Fascist! ………Hag.
For the greater good!!
I've seen this film and reactions to it so many times and I've only just realised Danny putting the notebook in Angel's pocket to fake the stabbing
Foreshadowed by Nicholas saying "This notebook has saved my skin more times.." when they're on the speed camera.
Thank you!!
Chance would be a fine thing.
"eradication of our hoody infestation" just brilliant!!, great reaction girls, you have to be quick to pick up on some of our British humour.
Honestly, respect the editing, but I'm gonna add (sorry if it's out of place), but jesus fucking christ y'all are gorgeous!
Out of the trilogy Hot Fuzz is my favorite by default because I’ve seen it like 60+ times!
Thanks ladies. Almost the entire cast is famous in the uk. The older cast from horror movies. Even a former James bond , one was star of the equaliser ( denzel Washington played his character in the movie version) .
If y'all watched Game of Thrones, the Hound is the big dude who mumbles alot and Walder Frey is the smaller older dude who mumbles a lot lol.
There's also a bunch of actors from HBO's Rome in this. Cato and Pompey for sure.
...oh yeah, also from Black Books...in all of the trilogy.
Wow, gorgeous ladies. Think i’ll be watching more of your reactions. 😂😂😂
As a Brit i LOVE Pegg/Frost movies. They work so well together. Such a great cast in this terrific movie too.
Thank you!
@@ForceOfLightEntertainment glad you enjoyed it.
Love it.
Simon Pegg is also great as Scotty in the Star Trek movies, as you said it would be great if they did some more
Just a quick note about the "Cornetto trilogy" The thread that ties each of the movies together is that as some point they are eating Cornetto ice cream cones. Strawberry for Shaun of the Dead, Classico for Hot Fuzz, and Mint for The Worlds End. I apologize if someone already stated this and I missed it. Yall are great and I enjoy your content.
Thank you!!
"He'll be in bits tomorrow" is a common saying here in the UK as a way of saying someone has over done something drinking or exercise ect.
Interesting! Didn’t know that
When he said “it’s not all about gunfights and car chases” you noticed that right away, there was a car chase (of sorts). I never thought about it before, but this is probably also a hint that we will see a gunfight,
The best of the Corneto Trilogy. AND you have an ex-James Bond in the cast.
The World's End has Pierce Brosnan. But you are correct. This is the better of the three.
Loved your reaction, ladies. You let the film run, no stops and a great commentary. Onward and upward with your youtube!
Thank you so much!!
One of my favorites! Glad you all reacted to this. It was fun watching your reaction.
Glad you enjoyed it!
It’s really good!
Beautiful AND you get the British sense of humour. You two are brilliant! ❤
Thank you!!

Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End are sometimes called the “Cornetto Triology” because there is at least one seen in each when Pegg and Frost eat Cornetto ice creams.
If you really like Simon Pegg and Nick Frost you should watch their SitCom, Spaced.
Not sometimes.
They are.
The amazing thing is, after watching many reactions to this,,is that, virtually,no second is wasted as each line is, either,a joke, or leads to something later, a phrase that I have learned from this called "Foreshadowing". An absolutely top-drawer cast featuring "P.I.S. Taker=Stephen Merchant" Co-Creator and writing Partner of "The Office" with Ricky Gervais and now worth $180,000,000. Martin Freeman was in The UK Office and then became famous as "Sherlock" and many other roles. He was the Policeman telling Nicolas to go to the Country. Olivia Colman: Oscar Winner. Tim Dalton = James Bond etc.. The more I see this the lore I pick up earlier jokes that I missed:)
As a resident of small English village I can assure you the accents are barely exaggerated ,
Such a great film…your reaction was fantastic, love to see how these movies are received by non British audiences.

See we haven’t even watched those movies to get that joke! Good! We both thought this movie is awesome!
LOL

Great reaction, two in a row. Thanks ladies 😊 and if you don't mind me saying, easy on the eyes 😉
I think both are good. I love the almost dry humor in British comedy. Great reaction y'all.
This film is like a mixture of an old Ealing comedy and the Wickerman. It even has Edward Woodward in it who was in the original wickerman film.
What's lovely is he never stops being a cop, even when he tools up, doesn't shoot anyone I think, he finds ways to make things happen in other ways. Not sure they're all non lethal, but he doesn't directly kill anyone I think.
Longest non lethal gun battle and shortest car chase in the same fim.
I give this review 5 hoots 🦉🦉🦉🦉🦉
And I give you ladies 5+. Take care Michelle and Natalie.
It’s on Prime!
28:00 It has to be the only time in history you can say this sentence "it was totally morally correct to fly kick the old lady"
That moment got me 😂
Loved your reaction to this (first time finding your channel) - Since you enjoyed and appreciated 'Shaun of the Dead' and 'Hot Fuzz', then I guess you'll have already been prompted to watch 'The World's End' too.

Out of the three films of the Blood and Ice Cream Cornetto Trilogy, this one remains the best movie in my opinion - curiously, which one is actually my favorite tends to shift as I get older.
