Before watching the video, here's my thoughts! Personally the Rubicon is someone who wants to try/going off-roading on a daily basis but doesn't need much upgrading to make that happen, the Sahara has equipment for a person who would like to daily drive a vehicle but have all the comfort compared to the Unlimited X, Overall the Rubicon is meant for someone who's going off-road, and the Sahara is meant for someone to daily drive in style, and comfort.

I have a JKUR. When looking around, I was going to try for a used Sport. Then I could add what I wanted later on.
Problem for me was the JLUs were just around the corner when I was looking to get back into a Wrangler. A new/newer Rubi was going to be cheaper than a used Sport when figuring in the price of modding it. So I went with the Rubicon and have not regret it.

For those that don't need the added off-road features, a Sahara without aftermarket upgrades makes sense. For those that want the off-road options of a Rubicon and think they can build a "JL Rubicon" from a "JL Sahara" or "JL Sport" cheaper, pack a lunch for the following novel:
    Rubicon: $42,460 (base price)
    Sahara: $38,910 (base price)
    Sport S: $35,955 (base price)
For the Sahara or Sport to match the Rubicon, add:
    Front 44 axle w/4.10 gearing and e-locker: $4,500
    Re-gear rear axle to 4.10 and add e-locker: $2,500
    High Top fenders: $750
    Rock Slider: $365
    Upgraded shocks: $500
    Quick disconnects: $150
    33" Tires: $1,200
Total upgrades: $9,815 (and still does not include the Rubicon transfer case, hood, skid system, and upgraded steering and brakes the Rubicon comes with)
Total built-up Sahara cost: $48,875 (base price + upgrades)
Total built-up Sport S cost: $45,770 (base price + upgrades)
Rubicon with built-in options: $42,460 (base price + no upgrades needed)
    Difference:
-built-up Sahara cost $6,415 more than a Rubicon and the Sport S $3,310 more than a Rubicon.
-built-up Sahara/Sport will no longer have a factory 36K basic/100K powertrain Warranty after adding the upgrades.
-future re-sell/trade-in value will be approximately $4,000 less with the built-up Sahara and up to $10,00 less with the built-up Sport vs the stock Rubicon.
-Here is the real kicker: These aftermarket upgrades total approximately $9,815. For the Sahara you would have to pay $9,815 cash for the upgrades and then pay about $700/month for 5 years for your car payment. For the Sport you would have to pay $9,815 cash for the upgrades and then pay about $650/month for 5 years for your car payment. Since you don't need the upgrades with the Rubicon, if you put the $9,815 down on a Rubicon, your monthly payment would be around $588/month.
    Built-up Sahara: $700/month
    Built-up Sport: $650/month
    Rubicon: $588/month
If your monthly car budget was $700, after 5 years you would have $0 left over if you built a Sahara, $3,000 left over if you built a Sport, and $6,720 left over if you bought the Rubicon. 5 years later $6,720 can go towards getting your Rubicon that lift kit you always wanted, larger tires, beadlock wheels, or hydro-assist steering, etc. And 0$, well....get's your built-up Sahara nothing.
All of the naysayers in the comments so far have been JK owners which is a completely different story since the JL Rubicon front axle is very different than the JK Rubicon front axle so let's stick to the topic of this video, the JL Rubicon vs the JL Sahara.

Just something to consider, in my market the Sahara is the choice for females. That really didn't matter much to me but after much thought I decided on the Rubicon for various reasons.
Me: Don't most women buy the Sahara?
Salesman: YES! Um, but, um I have one!
Anyway, too many females driving Wranglers around my area now. I'm going for the Rubicon. Furthermore, if you put them side-by-side, the Rubicon is definitely more rugged and masculine looking, nevermind the additional capabilities.

The High Altitude is a fully loaded Sahara with added 20" wheels, painted bumpers, mirrors, and door handles, and cool leather stitching for only an extra $1,000 more. For luxury I'd say you chose well!! Most Rubicon luxury owners paid that much or more just to have the Rubicon decal on the hood (since they never use the lockers and sway bar disconnect) and had to pay extra for the color top/fenders, prem sound, 8.4" display, LED lights, and safety group that are already included in your base price.

High altitude is like the high end mall crawler lol The only reason my msrp was a little high (55k) is because the car came with a handful of add ons that I actually appreciate now but didn't at the moment of purchase. I own an all-black JL so the sun transfers heat directly. This was a big concern of mine, as well. With the remote-start option I usually start it before tossing on my shoes and shades and by the time i open the door it's already cool inside. No regrets.

Even if you don't offroad it, with a larger tire the Rubicon has a stronger front axle, better brakes, a better axle gear ratio, and more clearance for bigger tires. This isn’t accurate at all ... I have to ask what this is based on?
I have owned and built both and the Rubicon is hands down the best deal!
Have you ever priced out lockers? Getting your Jeep regeared? The D44 that comes with the rubicon? Hell even how much it costs for the high clearance fenders to fit larger tires? Now have you actually tried to do any of that work yourself? If so you would know how much time, knowledge and variety of tools that would take. 99% of jeep buyers won’t be changing out those options / if you’re building a new wrangler for 40s ... money is no object
Also the hood alone is a 1500 upgrade ...
Additionally you get off-road tires from the factory which even if your not going to use, can sell for a lot more than the stock Sahara wheels/tires

What is a possible help the rubi has over the Sahara is the front and rear lockers. But that only helps if you're in low 4 the lockes won't engage in 4 high. Traveling in snow might be done in faster speeds then low can accommodate. Just food for thought.

@@SpaceTravel1776 You probably already know this but to answer your question for those who might not, if you off-road on rocks or terrain where one front wheel lifts off the ground, in a Sahara the wheel on the ground will stop turning since the power will transfer to the wheel with less friction. In a Rubicon the electronic swaybar disconnect will give more articulation in the front so that it is less likely that a front wheel will leave the ground. And if the obstacle or terrain is severe enough that a front or rear wheel still leave the ground with the sway bar disconnected, you have electronic axle lockers that will lock the axle and put equal power to both the wheel on the ground and the one in the air to give you the traction you need to drive out of that situation. The lockers will also help the same way if all wheels are on the ground but you are stuck because some of the wheels start spinning in sand or snow.
