Hey Food Box HQ Family! In this video, we review Hungryroot, a popular grocery and meal delivery service that specializes in healthy foods.
Hungryroot was founded in 2015 and has quickly become a favorite among health-conscious consumers. Originally, they started out as a plant-based meal delivery service but have since broadened to include all types of meats. Their menu features a variety of meals and snacks, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even desserts. Beyond that, they also have pantry staples like seasonings.
One of the things we love about Hungryroot is their emphasis on customization. You can build your own box by selecting the meals and snacks that fit your preferences and dietary needs. Plus, they offer add-ons like sauces, dressings, and protein options. You can use their meal kit recipes to build your box with foods to make their meals or simply use them as an online grocery delivery service. We like to do both.
One of the nice things about using Hungryroot's meal kit meals is that they usually involve using a pre-made or pre-seasoned "base" which makes cooking easier and less time consuming. For example, in the video we make Naan pizza and all we really had to do was roast the garlic.

I got my first box yesterday stuff was damaged and missing.
My items never had expiration dates it was. Frustrating. Lots of money not to know when the turkey expires
I'm curious what your order was: 2 dinners 2 lunches, serving size? How many days did you indicate for breakfast, lunch, snacks?

So my husband and i are in a budget... we currently do the Everyplate every two weeks but I'm looking for something else i can do for meal variety. Do you think Hungryroot is affordable overall for what you get? 😊
Hungryroot has high-end groceries similar to Whole Foods, Nugget, etc. Hungryroot has better prices than WholeFoods, but they are more expensive than a regular grocery store because it's better quality ingredients, similar to a Whole Foods vs Safeway.

@@aj8203 I follow a vegan diet, so a lot of the other meal plans don't work as well for me. I've been super happy with Hungryroot. All of the ingredients I've had are super fresh, you get full sized grocery items vs just a portion of ingredient for each meal, and their customer service is amazing. I had a container of pineapple that spilled juice in my box, and they credited me for the pineapple and gave me an inconvenience credit.
Julie said it perfectly! If you're looking for inexpensive meal kits, EveryPlate and Dinnerly are the best options out there. I go back and forth on which is best because they are similar but Dinnerly's meals can definitely be tasty so if you're bored with EveryPlate, I'd suggest checking them out. They also have add-ons (just not a lot).
One thing I will say about Hungryroot is that they really aren't a "meal kit" (they're more of a grocery delivery service that gives you the ability to shop by recipes and include those ingredients in your box). So their meal kit meals aren't going to compare to something like HelloFresh.

Is it all organic food? Where is food from? Can you do a dairy free, gluten free option on recipe’s?
Yes, I just went through the quiz and they asked about allergies and dietary preferences. I have to eat gluten free & dairy free so that's always my first question.
Great review! Thanks. But HelloFresh gives photos and photo instructions. That is more helpful for me. But Hungryroot does look healthier, but I need a better recipe format.

The only problem I have is they don’t say where are they getting their food from? I need to know where they’re getting their food from because if it’s by Bill gates process food I don’t want it That’s only thing I’m trying to figure out Organics food that’s not going to be contaminated … does it tell you where they’re getting their food from? We should know where we are getting our food from.

Best way to do that is grow your own or buy directly from a local farmer you trust. This is just a random box of groceries
